In Blizzard's
Burning Crusade Classic Beta Notes Post
, Blizzard clarifies many of the questions the community has had while playing the Beta. Unfortunately, concerns surrounding various issues are still a question mark.
Clarifications
The most recent Blue Post from Blizzard
shed some light on a ton of changes that took place on the
Beta in the most recent update
. Clearing up a ton of issues such as
Éter Primevo
acquisition,
the Blacksmithing Weapon changes
, attunement clarifications, and a couple of things that came as a surprise:
Ritual of Summoning will not work inside instances or Netherstorm.
Ring enchants and Jewelcrafting-specific gems now have a profession requirement to benefit from them.
Landro Longshot will not offer WoW Trading Card Game code redemption.
Many of these changes are fairly significant deviations from Blizzard's Classic WoW Philosophy. Every item in Classic was in their 1.12.1 state, even when it was detrimental to the game. Every piece of content was in their 1.12.1 state, even when it was detrimental to the game. Blizzard took a sweeping broad approach to these issues, and didn't deviate from their stance.
The perfect example being the conversations about Alterac Valley leading up to Classic WoW's launch. Private Server players wanted Patch 1.5 Alterac Valley, knowing that the 1.12.1 version is just a bum-rush on the boss, destroying Alterac Valley's initial design.
Blizzard is taking an entirely new approach to Burning Crusade, likely learn from their past mistakes of Classic WoW.
Many of these changes have been praised by the community, at first glance. But there are still many questions remaining, that Blizzard still hasn't clarified --
Leatherworking Drums
Seriously, does anyone understand what Blizzard is doing here? Blizzard brought up Leatherworking Drums at Blizzconline, explaining they wanted to change them so they don't feel mandatory.
Brian Birmingham thinks it is very likely that they will be making adjustments to the drums of war by leatherworkers. The drums should remain an important advantage for leather workers, but the job shouldn't be a duty for every raid enthusiast.
So why would Blizzard add entirely new items to the game with Recipes and Items like
Molde: Maior Tambores de Batalha Maiores
and
Tambores de Batalha Maiores
? Blizzard is going to change the Blacksmithing Weapons (likely in Phase 5 - Sunwell) to no longer be locked to main hand and be dual wieldable. Why not apply the same thing to Drums and just let the tooltip change in Zul'Aman? Why go through this complicated dance of making new items?
And at the end of the day, neither of these changes will fix the real issue, that Leatherworking feels mandatory
.
Arena Questions
Blizzard has gone back and forth on the Season Timeline
, even changing their mind from day one to day two of Blizzconline. If arena season one is coming out in Phase 1, will it come out after the Dark Portal opens or right at launch?
As of right now on the Burning Crusade Classic Beta, players have noticed that arena matches are only queuing opposite faction, as in Horde versus Alliance. If you have ever queued up an arena match, you'll likely remember how you can have same faction matches, Horde versus Horde and Alliance versus Alliance. Is this just a bug on the beta or is this something that will still persist in Burning Crusade Classic?
Blizzard also talked about changing how the Arena team system will work
, explaining that teams will have double their normal size, allowing for more players to join an Arena team. But players have been asking for more than this, solo queue has its own movement, as well as a modern day interpretation of arena, allowing for personal rating.
If Blizzard is open to updating the Looking for Group tool and "modernizing" it, why not do the same for the arena system?
Looking for Group Update
As previously mentioned,
Blizzard talked about modernizing the Looking for Group tool
. In the Burning Crusade Beta, there is no Looking for Group tab at all, and players haven't seen what it looks like quite yet. With the Level 58 Boost and
introductory quests being made to cater to new players
,
it's a pretty fair assumption to assume the Looking for Group tool will be "modernized" to basically be Dungeon Finder.
