Ever since character cloning and transfers were announced for Classic Burning Crusade servers, players have been wondering if there would be any sort of gold cap on characters being copied or cloned. On
Blizzard Watch's interview with Brian Birmingham and John Hight
, this has been answered for now - There are no plans to add any sort of gold cap when transferring to Burning Crusade servers.
Their justification on the matter is that what allowed players to amass high quantities of gold in Classic WoW was a mixture of experience and willingness to put in time and effort, and they did not want to take that from anyone who thought ahead. However, this only applies to progression realms, and transfers will only occur if you choose to stay on a Classic realm.
