Druid, everyone loves HoTs

I know, my tanks cast healing spells all the time in raids and it really makes the boss fights easier when they switch forms and loose all their avoidance. It's awesome. Like this one time we were on Gluth and he decimated and my druid tank was all OH NO YOU DI-INT and went into caster form while he had aggro and 10% health to cast rejuv and we owned gluth in like 30 seconds that way.

Now I know that was either a completely flippant post or you were talking about off-spec, but the thought of bears trying to heal themselves halfway through a fight amused me.

I'd say Paladins are probably easier to tank with, but not better or worse tanks. Druids are not just off-tanks, they can main tank quite well. If you're concerned about how your character will look remember you won't look at the tauren model much if you're planning on being a tank. Druid tanks compete with Cat Druids and Rogues sometimes though, keep that in mind. The gear choices are definitely different but there's a bit of overlap. Frankly though I'll just give the ultimate cop-out answer and say play whatever you enjoy most.
