I understand people being bad at PvP. I do not understand people paying $200 for a F2P game and then being horrible at PvP. I just had one of the worst PvP matches I've been in yet, and it was with 4 guys on $200 founders' mounts. It just boggles my mind that people would drop that kind of money into a game if they weren't serious players.
I have a friend who has a lifetime sub to LOTRO, STO, got the $200 Neverwinter Bundle and I think he may have a lifetime to Champions online also. He's not super great at MMO's although he's been playing them for years. Part of why he isn't super great is because he doesn't have a lot of time to play them, and part of why he doesn't have a lot of time to play them is his job has him traveling a lot. but becasue of that he's making over $200,000 a year at his job. So for him dropping $200 for a cool spider mount and the drow race is like going and buying a 6pack of bear for most of us. Its all a matter of perspective.
Honey, I want a
six pack of bear.

that's only a 5 pack of bear.

So has anyone found any of the crafting tree's other then leadership to be worth it? It seems that given the way it takes time to do anything, I will always be many levels ahead of whatever profession I am working on.

That's been my experience too. Plus, with the top level gear sets being what they are, I don't see professions being useful or important at that point (though, I admit, I haven't fully looked into it).

Why does this already have 6 pages? Is it superawesome? Should I stop trying really hard to avoid it?
Yes.
I'mma try my hand at making a foundry quest, I think!

If you do make sure you post it here so that we can all have a go.

It's a lot of fun for a free game.

Has anyone played with the foundry yet? I'm wondering because I have a dialog tree bug(?) where I made a branch only pop up when you go through another branch, but when I test it the special branch is available immediately, and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about that.

TABLETOP FOREVER!
Seriously though, I never saw the appeal of the Neverwinter Nights games over actual D&D.

I don't know people who I feel comfortable playing D&D with. When I find those people, I'll definitely play tabletop.

I'm not sure why you even need to compare them. I'd play both at different times, with different people, and for different reasons.

Because I feel the d20 roll system wasn't properly passed over to an automated program, though I admit I only tried playing the first one. It seemed...static, if that makes any sense.
I will concede that it is a good way to play a good campaign if you can't find a good enough DM.
Also, every time I try to play it, I think "I could be playing actual D&D right now, why am I not doing that, if that's what I want?" I suppose that's personal, though.

Did you only play singleplayer?

Ironically enough, yes.

Well, that would explain it. Neverwinter Nights an okay game. It was an amazing toolset with an amazing community. I haven't checked in recently, but there are still PW servers running from the first game as well as 1000s of multiplayer modules around. In its prime it was
the
online D&D.

Didn't know at the time that the game allowed modifications online - that's what you mean by "tool set" right, like WC3 was in Battlenet?
Speaking of which, is D&D Online any good?

The toolset was the set of tools that let you build modules and campaigns, both DM-controlled and automatic ones. Any module could be run online. It used to be mainly through the old Gamespy client, but that went away years ago, and now there various 3rd party clients for it.
I liked the idea of DDO.... it definitely did a lot of things right as far as keeping it a D&D experience. However I disliked the combat system. It uses a somewhat primitive hack-and-slash combat system that I found cumbersome.

Well, got the tank to max level and got straight into an epic dungeon. Not just any epic either, we went straight for the one that pugs do not do, Mad Dragon. It went really well but we could not get the last boss down. Felt pretty good about the tanking overall but that last fight is ridiculous!

UGH. I was busy all day yesterday, but I made absolute sure to put aside an hour in the evening for Neverwinter, so I could get my Celestial Coin. And it turns out that's exactly the time the game is down for emergency maintenance, and now I lost my all my accumulated coins.
