Technically, none of those are actual military, but I take your point. I thought Jack and Miranda's outfits were so stupid, and Samara's was pretty bad now that I think about it. I liked that the merc on Miranda's loyalty mission called her out on it though.
"Oh, sorry I was just waiting for you to finish getting dressed. Or does Cerberus actually let you !@#$% around like that?"

most of them are.
Jacob was an alliance Captain before joining cerberus.
Miranda never served in the alliance, but cerberus is a para-military group.
Jack was never officially in any group, but she is now serving under a military squad, so at least she SHOULD be using something a little more combat-practical. Her outfit is actually more of a liability than anything else.
I could be willing to look the other way on Samara's Outfit because she's a Justicar, and thus fights mostly with her biotics. Being a millenial-old biotic capable of creating STRONG barriers around herself, (to the point she can briefly FLY on her recruitment mission) one would think she could have enough protection, but it doesn't excuses her extremely high heels.
And yes, I liked how the merc leader on Miranda's loyalty mission caller her out on her absurdly impractical outfit. Its even better if you have Jack as your second companion because then she says "I like her. Are we still recruiting?"
Regarding the spoilers........... I failed. I checked them out, but I gotta say I'm somewhat skeptical about how accurate they are. So I'll withhold from judgement till I've actually played the game. It WILL suck if that spoiler is true though. :S
and they do have a point regarding "Happy ending DLCs" because that's EXACTLY what happened on Fallout 3. As much as I loved that game (While still believing the previous 2 were much better) I HATED its ending. Because it was an ending that completely stripped away all manner of choice from your hands. It wasn't till bethesda released the expac for Fallout 3 that fixed the ending that I was truly satisfied with it.

I don't know- i think non-happy endings are pretty common from Bioware- especially endings where your team doesn't necessarily come through unscathed, or screws you over. We all know they're coming.
Dragon Age Origins, your options were:
1) Die and save everyone else
2) Let your buddy/boyfriend take the hit, and save everyone but him
3) Unleash a possible horrible evil on the world through blood magic, saving everyone...for now...
4) Alienating your buddy/boyfriend (and if he's not king, ruining his life), and losing him as a teammate, so that you can sacrifice Logain and survive.
And regardless of what you do, Morrigan runs off at the end so no happy ending with her if she was your LI. Also, if you picked Alistair as anything other than human noble who specced into persuasion, there's a pretty good chance he dumps you anyway because he needs to marry someone "of his station".
What really sucks, is that they then put out an expansion, and you couldn't continue your own character if you died, and had to play as some Orlesian
Dragon Age: 2
First off, WTF Anders. He basically lets you know he'd up to something at the Chantry, and there isn't a darn thing you can do to stop him from blowing up half the city and starting a war.
You were losing a companion for the final battle either way- either you had to kill Anders, or Sebastian walks out on you, presumably to raise an army and destroy the city. Either way you're losing a party member.
In star wars, there are a couple of classes who get royally betrayed by their companions too- they don't lose them, but it can sour the story for people who wanted all sunshine and bunnies.
I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to make games end with hard choices from a story point of view- it's more interesting. I don't think that the reward for finishing a game needs to be riding off into the sunset. Remember Planescape:Torment? That has to be one of my favorite RPG's ever, and the point of that game was to finally die- lol.
EDIT: Anyway, I won't believe any "spoilers" until the game actually comes out. Too easy to get fans all riled up with rumors.

well, you do have a point, I liked how there's no perfect ending on Dragon Age (Indeed, life doesn't work that way, everything, even victory, comes with a price tag) but the "Bittersweet" ending of ME3 seems more bitter than sweet.
I simply hate endings where the protagonist dies. I hate them. That may work well in a book, or a movie, but in a video-game, we (or at least I) "Devote" ourselves to this character, we invest our time, and our interest in him or her, and seeing him get offed is just a punch to the gut. Its one thing if the character death is temporal, like shep's was at the start of ME2, or if the death is a choice you have to make, such as Chrono Trigger (Where you choose if you wanna bring crono back or leave him dead) or ME2 (Where you can choose how well you prepare before going to the final mission). But a video-game that has your protagonist getting killed with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do about that, simply SUCKS. (Like on "Persona 3", now that ending really was depressing :S)
BTW, why are we using spoiler tags for Dragon Age? those games are very old, anyone who had any interest in playing them most likely already has done so, and those who haven't most likely have already heard of the spoilers anyways.
I mean, I don't think there's a soul alive that doesn't know that Aerith dies on FF7, or that Liquid Snake is the twin brother of Solid Snake on MGS.

my thoughts exactly. I've taken that info with a MASSIVE ton of salt added to it, and I wont pass full judgement till the game is out and i've personally played it and experienced it.
After all, there were rumors for ME2 as well, from the most mundane things such as we finnaly getting to see tali's face (Mean blow bioware U_U not fair to tease us like that) to the more outlandish things such as Shepard becoming a reaper-hybrid at the end.
Neither ended up being true, despite being "confirmed by several sources"

I think we were trying to talk one or two people into playing them- I forget who- on some thread- so I wanted to be safe.
I figured that Planescape is as old as most of the posters here, though, so that was safe.
But,
They're not saying Shepard has to die. They're saying that regardless of whether he/she lives or dies, his or her crew gets stranded. People have a choice in what happens to their toon, just not on riding off into the sunset with whoever they're virtually banging.
And this is SUPPOSEDLY. Anyone who's actually seen the game is still under an NDA. It's quite possible people are making stuff up because Bioware fans are volatile and they want to get a reaction. There was something similar a week back, when someone was banned from the forums for posting fake spoilers about which people were romances, which weren't and which were going bi. And they released an announcement a few days later that he had been banned because his information was incorrect and he was lying to cause a stir.
So- not going to believe anything until the game comes out.

I actually kind of think that DA2's ending was, at least mostly, the way it was because they needed to force us into a chain of events that will tie to the eventual DA3 in some way. It could have been done more graciously, and Bioware certainly has, or at least used to have, the capability to create a multitude of endings that could still lead to the same thing, but they just failed to do so in Dragon Age II. Honestly, I liked most things, except for the ending. I do hope Dragon Age III will eventually make up for it. I remember Dragon Age: Origins, and that has to be one of my favorite RPGs ever.

I think that one of the problems they had, though, with Dragon Age Origins, is that the endings were so diverse, that it was hard to write a sequel without retconning things. For example, there was one character that you had the option to kill in the first game, that shows up regardless in the second game (not Flemeth), with no explanation. It also seemed to be disjointed to start the expansion, but have had your character die at the end of the first game- I feel like that was kind of poor planning.
In this instance, if it's the end of the series and Shepard is being retired, then I think it's fitting for there to be a "Go out with a bang" option.
EDIT: And in all honesty, you already died. At the beginning of the second game you died, and anything you've done since then was done with "borrowed time" given to you for the express reason of saving the galaxy from the Reapers. I don't know that this is the kind of character I'd expect to then settle down and have kids, coach little league and take up pottery. If I was writing the story, I'd be more inclined to see Shepard make the ultimate sacrifice, with some touching goodbye speech (or, if renegade, a "F*** them and F**** you too" speech).

Ohhhhh boy.
Speaking of Dragon Age...........
The first game was WAY WAY WAY too Diverse. It was quite litteraly IMPOSSIBLE to write anything that could serve as a sequel without forcing some choises. For example, Irvine can die in DA:O, as can just about everyone on your party save Morrigan and Alistair (The latter only at the ending)
DA2 had a really depressing ending, but that's because it was meant to tie-in with the third game. Even so, David Gaider redeemed himself on my eyes with the book "Dragon Age: Asunder" really fantastic reading, that book is almost everything DA2 should had been. It has a fantastic plot, and REALLY ties in to the third to the point that I don't recomend anyone to play DA3 till they've read Asunder. I'm tempted to write an extensive review of it........... but I've never reviewed a book before :S go figure.
and Elhonna regarding characters that you had an option to kill in the first game but show up on the sequel regardless, they are: (Big-ass list incoming:)
Oghren (Can die in DA:O, shows up in awakening regardless)
Wynne (Can die on DA:O, shows up in Asunder regardless)
Leliana(can die in DA:O, shows up in DA2 and Asunder regardless)
Anders(Can die on awakenings, or not be recruited at all, yet shows up in DA2 as an ex-grey warden regardless)
Shale(Can die on DA:O, shows up on Asunder regardless)
Irvine(Can die on DA:O, yet shows up on Asunder regardless)
As you can see, the list is quite large, and this is not counting Flemeth.

LOL xD
Damn I hope they fix the mining mechanic for ME3, cuz they said THEY ARE NOT getting rid of it. So hopefully this time its less annoying, and less time-consuming than it was on ME2.

For those who are curious, here is a tour of the new normandy.
Its completely spoiler free so there's no risk of ruining any story whatsoever.
I gotta say, I like how the new normandy looks like. The normandy on ME2 looked waaaaay too bright, this one has the right degree of lightning inside plus a lot of the new rooms look sweet. Plus I like that this time THERE IS ACTUAL MUSIC while inside the ship.
Hated how awfully quiet the ambient was on ME2's normandy.
Anyhow, enough rambling, here's the bloody video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dnx9mFjPvnM
again, this is completely SPOILER FREE, so if u just wanna take a peek at how the normandy will look like and don't wanna wait 2 weeks for that, just go ahead and watch it, there's no risks of ruining the story at all.

How much spoiler material is in the demo? I want to be surprised when I play it for the first time but my friend just played the demo and I'm anticipating spoilers. Should I be worried or are the spoilers minor? I consider returning characters minor.
not many.
The demo is quite short. Its divided into 2 sections. The first section just covers what you will experience in the first 20 min or so of the game. Nothing major.
And the second half covers an advanced part of the game, its more action packed but doesn't reveals much.
Quite frankly, If you've been watching the trailers, then there's absolutely no info in the demo that you don't already know.
Also, if you want to play the demo, but don't want spoilers, just play the multiplayer. Its really adictive, fun, and engaging and completely spoiler-free.
Of course, there is one thing the multiplayer does spoils: There is a certain group that will be your enemy in the game. Again, if you've seen the trailers, even just 1 you already know who they are.

Lol- so much rage on the official forums about rumors that haven't really even been confirmed. Maybe 15-20 people talking about how they cancelled collector's editions because someone random on the internet said that something that they didn't like was going to happen in the game.
I can not wait for the rage by people who cancelled the collector's edition, and then found out after the game was released that the information that they had heard was either made up, or taken out of context, and now they can't get a collector's edition anymore.

5 days for me- kind of four, actually, since boyfriend is picking up the midnight release. However, I will be passed out at midnight on a work night, so I won't play until the 6th.

meh, same thing (exact SAME THING) happened with ME2. There were DOZENS of rumors flying sky high about what would happen in that game.
From shepard discovering s/he's a clone and having a dramatic heart failure at the end, to shep becoming a reaper-hybrid, to tali's face being revealed, and a HUGE ect.
one of the reasons I don't believe the so-called "spoilers" for ME3 are true is because the project director Casey Hudson said via tweeter a long time ago, that ME3 will have a VAST variety of endings, several of them with NOTHING in common. And that if you busted your ass to prepare yourself for the final battle, you would be rewarded with a very complete definite ending that ties up everything and doersn't leave any loose ends.
so, that "bad event" that suposedly happens at the end REGARDLESS OF YOUR CHOISES can't be true, cuz the main project director said several endings would have no elements in common, and that the "golden ending" would have no loose ends.
Like your crew stranded somewere unreachable

as for "how many days" left for me......... that's a tough one.
I'm struggling to decide what to do regarding ME3. Buy it pirated, or original. Either has a set of problems.
Due to the new origin program required to run it, its posible that there wont be a pirated version of ME3 for PC. (Then again, Skyrim suposedly required steam yes-or-yes and yet I can play my cracked version of it just fine)
Now, I just saw the price-tag of ME3 (Normal edition and Deluxe edition. Normal is 400k bolivares, and deluxe 550k bolivares)
I'm internally strugling to decide what to do. My main concern is that if I have a legit version of ME3, then I wont be able to run torrented DLCs (because I will definitly WONT be able to buy the DLCs, those require dollars, and I can't get access to dollars due to that damn economical blockade)
Either way, its a long wait for me, because if I go the "Pirate" route, I'll have to wait till a cracked version of the game is released, which on the most optimistic cases can take a week, and on the most severe cases (like assassins creed 2) can take up to a year.
And if I do buy the legit version, I gotta wait anyways, because the website that sells those retail games (and actually accepts bolivares) will only give me the CDkey, no dvds, no box, no manuals, nada. So that means I'll have to download the game from Origins after I input the CD key, and a 20gb download will take no less than a week.
So yes =( either way I go with this, I'll have to wait a LONG LONG LONG TIME to play Mass Effect 3.
