It's not so much that they are op, it's just the fact that it's pretty much all burst damage, so people usually get killed within the first few seconds if they are not careful. If you can survive a ret paladins first rotation, and you are about the same in terms of gear, and you know how to play your class you should be able to win
maybe a 6 or 7 on the op scale.

IMHO somewhere around 7-8 this might be slightly biased since I usually play a shaman and when I jump on my alt pally I feel like I can do anything.

the whole op thing is not really OP its more the ret pally playing style most veterans can prolly agree with me. Ret pallies have like a total of 5 or 6 buttons they hit its not a hard class/spec to understand so ppl become accustomed to the playing style therefore becoming better. So all in all i jus say there the easiest class to master makin them that much better than othr classes who are harder to become "good" at.
But overall i give them 5 jus like i give every class thats "good"

Ok so i play pala since horde get it, im mainly pve but tried out pvp too and here is my opinion:
pve opness with quest/heroic items - 6
pve opness with 25/ulduar items - 9
pvp opness with pve gear - 3-7 depending on gear
pvp opness with savage/hatefull gear - 5
pvp opness with deadly/furious - 9
Pala is still %^&*in dependant on gear, im fully 25 man epic and i can be out dpsed by dk with semi blue gear in some situations, and in another encounters not even best lock can out dps me.(nerf mind sear!)

Thats becouse in naxx you usualy meet:
1) large grps - and rogue only spam aoe and hit all, while you hit only 4 by your divine storm
2) single mobs or bosses - rogue pwn you on single target dps
Pala will own anyone while fighting against small grps of 3-5 elite mobs. For example - packs of drakes in obsidian sanctum

Hehe, because we know how easy it is to out heal a ret paladin. It happens ALL the time. It's not like warriors, hunters, or rogues, where you have to get them off for a bit or they will just own you.

How to be satisfied by a ret pally when every other dps classes can pull more dps than them on a boss dummy. Wtf? 2500 dps? 3350+ ap, 31,20% crit , hit capped with The Jawbone... err we were "good" in 25 naxx only because the mobs here were most undeads, OBS yeah good place, lot of aoe, but Ulduar and VoA etc... we really suck...
In pvp, with some hatefull gears, we have the 50% win we need.
Please blizz... less burst, more dps....
I want only QQ about the exorcism not available on players... the only thing that could help us to have a chance against Dks and prot warriors...

Actually, we seem to be "OK" enough that we can do descently in arena. What my issue right now is... Repentance needs to be usable on resto druids, all paladins need Arcane Torrent, and "absorb" should not negate JotW and Glyph of SoB procs. That's so stupid it hurts(give one class the ability to reduce our returns to nothing
and
mana burn the crap out of the little bit that's left
and
remove DP and HoF....).
