Do Dk's still get ridiculed purely for playing their class?

Yes, rogues' damage relies a lot on autoattacks, but said autoattacks are absolute &*!@e if you're not doing more than just that.

@ apocalypsa: I call shenanigans on your comment. You cannot vote kick two people at once... now if you or your friend left because the other was vote kicked that is something else entirely.

He got kicked and I left right afterwards(after raging a little), yeah. But afaik you can votekick two people, just only if two different people initiate it.

well for me i haven't really encountered any bm as a dk except a few witty jokes from the guild. at least not in game. i have a couple of friends in RL that i haven't played with that insist that i'm mega bad because i play a dk. as much as i do to try to prove them wrong they are stubborn, unfortunately different servers makes it hard for me to show off :( . but seriously though in game i get way more bm for not having an ilvl 3 higher. or because i have one item that isnt heroic yet. even though everyhting else is.
However there have been a few times on the first day or 2 of the new heroics where i came in on some boss and the group was all... oh great we couldnt do this with a 200k hp tank how we gonna do it with you.... then of course we down it first shot :D :p

I don't know who your playing with. If you know how to play your class. Then just shrug it off.

vote kicking puts a cooldown on the whole group much like getting a new person in and not being to queue for a new dungeon for 15 minutes, both seem sorta lame upfront but the former makes sense in the long run. The latter gets a little old after a short time though IMHO.

I haven't had to vote kick more than one person in at least a few weeks however, the benefit of helping gear up other guildmates. Hooray for guild runs, with at 3 to 4 people. So I will have to try this out if I get in a particularily bad PuG. If in fact you can do then I humble retract my previous comments, although I won't retract saying shenanigans. (^_^)

Well, back in 4.0 holy paladins had a 30% haste buff that procced off shock, which made them quite viable(especially with heirlooms) as dps. Getting 3 fail dps isnt rare either, sadly :(

Holy also have an advantage when they get put in dungeons FILLED with undeads, that give them a 100 % crit chance on their main spell. I've seen Holy Paladins around level 60 dish out 600 - 700 dps in Stratholme. That's not exactly bad, considering most dps in late outland usually is around 500 to 1000 dps.
Either way, I'd always prefer a Holy paladin to a Subtelty rogue. Watching a rogue with a dps so low, you would think his weapons were noodles, is nothing short of pathetic. They go as low as 100 to 200. Seriously, I used a disc priest last time I went through that level, and the only retort subtelty rogues could ever muster, was "You are the healer, you shouldn't dps to begin with". Right, I do 400 dps, you do 200. Get lost.
More on-topic: It's actually funny. Just today, I were put in a Escape from Durnholde with a DK tank. A horrible dps bashed the tank for being bad (When he really wasn't that much different from tanks in general at that point). Someone else posted Recount meters, and the DK topped the chart, both against thrash
and
bosses. The poor dps (A paladin, ret) responded like this:
"Lol, comparing dps with a DK? DKs are stupidly OP. They always out-DPS others."
I can't help but find it amusing when people just want to bash others, for one reason or another. when "You suck at tanking" get's turned down by the healer, and it turns out the guy have almost twice as much dps as the rest of the group, you would expect them to just shut up. But no, instead, they blame the class for being imbalanced. Because obviously, there is
no way
a DK can outperform the rest of us, without it being the class that is imbalanced -_-

Yes, and they always will be just like hunters no matter how few morons there might be playing those classes. It's just a stimga with any class that has a pet from what I've seen. That and they're just
soooooo
easy to level, gear, and play. That is to get by, not do very well as. Hence the reason I first went with a warrior as my main. (Later I found out that by doing so, I unintentionally made it all the harder to level my character, his professions, and make cash all at the same time.) It was a challenge I thoroughly enjoyed and wouldn't change it for anything in the world. DKs on the other hand were very easy campared to my warrior, but they can still be a challenge (for me at least) to play, especially as a tank. Then again, I've never been too keen on tanking, but that's just me. Live to deal with it and to ignore it and you'll be fine. If people can't look beyond your class, then they are close-minded morons.

Well Tauren Priests just came out with cataclysm and is the least popular priest race. Also Taurens are more often than not male (I hated finding a female tauren for the love is in the air achievement). It's a going joke since tauren priests are so hard to find that they "don't exist." Similar case for tauren females, so in your case it wasn't your toon's class defining what they thought of you they were just shocked to see a tauren female priest (I've seen a total of about 1 tauren priest and it was male, and I play horde lol)

I have never in my time playing a DK been ridiculed or heard things offensive. Except in the guild chat, but that's just people being jealous when i owned their ass on meters or when i tanked better then them ;)
And this is from around 1000 5man pugs during WotLK.
One thing I have witnessed is though, that in the beginning there seriously was a lot of retarded DK's. It got better around 78+ and specially at 80. Though obviously there still was people like those around at 80.
However THE worst dps i ever had in a level 80 heroic, was a rogue doing around 350-400dps on trash. That was just impressive. :)

And some rogues do about 2k in heroics, 85 ....
Really grieving when I've seen 65s do about 1,7 k damage... Thrash, granted, but that doesn't make it any less pathetic to see such poor people at 85.
At least I have never seen a DK do less than 5k in dungeons, unless they were severely slacking, doing nothing but auto attacks. The rogues are people who continueally spam hemorrhage and Evis, making it really stupid to watch. The only thing I can think of that's equally stupid, is warriors at level 60 who still uses
Strike
....

I don't know why, but
alot
of people dislike orc and tauren females. I think female orcs are awesome and the stuff they say is freaking hilarious, which is the same for tauren females, but they're more... Mild and calm. I can understand why there aren't many tauren priests. Tauren racials for the most part sucks and seeing a cow in a dress can turn anyone off, except chubby chasers. Well, maaaaybe, but still.

Oh hey Apocalypsa, I encountered an interesting situation just 2 days ago in a Heroic our fail tank DCed himself after wipping us 4 times on the Foe Reaper 5000, so I opted to log my mage out and bring my DK tank in. The group leader (my guildmate) vote kicked my mage then we voted to kick the DCed warrior immediately after I joined. I checked with him after the fact and he had innitiated both vote kicks. So I infact sit corrected that, I suppose at that maybe being manually invited may have changed something but I figured I would let ya know.
I used to get complimented back in day (when DK's first hit the scene) for being a good if not great DK tank, it became very apparent to people when it was the healing that couldn't keep up or just the DPS not pulling through. I broke a lot of molds back then, I leveled as Blood so I tank with old blood talents and just popped into Frost Prescense, immediately the questions would fly more so when I spent a fair amount of time in a Blood/Unholy hybrid that had the Ghoul out all time. It was awesome to see peoples heads explode. I would always just say "Hey either leave if you don't think I can handle it, or give me a chance to prove myself before you pass judgement." This too had great results, I was almost tempted to macro it after typing it so many times.
To go with the stigma comment that someone else made, it is totally true that when their becomes an over abundance of a particular class being played that you will encounter the "baddies" of said class, but eventually they all (well almost sadly) get weeded out as they progess through the game.

I get get called "OP" when I tank on my DK. Prolly because I do a lot of random heroics and end up carrying people who just started heroic and I top the dps chart, damage done and insome cases healing as I solo bosses 30%-40% after everyone else dies. People's attitude toward you is directly proportional to how you play and not the class you roll.
