Chief Legal Officer Claire Hart left Blizzard Entertainment today after more than three years with the studio, sharing a brief
farewell message over Linkedin
. While there's nothing to directly link her departure to the recent
legal issues at the company
, she is one of several executives to have left recently, including former
President J. Allen Brack
and
Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources Jesse Meschuk
, making it unclear whether her departure is by choice or the result of continued house cleaning by Activision.
After more than three years at Blizzard Entertainment, I have decided to move on to my next adventure. Friday was my last day.
The past three years have been full of unexpected twists and turns, but I feel honored to have worked with and met so many great people at Blizzard and across the Activision Blizzard businesses.
I'll be taking a short break before making my next move. Stay tuned!
A chief legal officer (CLO) is a legal executive appointed to govern a firm's legal department, lead in-house attorneys, provide direction on major legal and regulatory issues, and work to minimize legal risks, though their exact role varies between organizations. During her time at Blizzard Entertainment, Claire was responsible for the global legal function for Blizzard, for Activision’s business in Asia, and for Blizzard’s global data protection efforts. Prior to joining the video game developer, she started her legal career in private practice at the firm Weil, Gothshal & Manges in New York and Silicon Valley as an IP, antitrust and commercial litigator, following which she worked at Google for more than 10 years supporting a number of products including YouTube, Google Play, Google’s charitable efforts including Google.org and Google’s emerging market products.
While not a public facing figure that most fans would be familiar with, she spoke at length about her work experiences with Blizzard in an article with the
Los Angeles & San Francisco Daily Journal
in 2019.
