This spell is one of the first spells available to a Mage. It does high damage for a fairly high Mana cost, and is used from the start of the game all the way to raiding. It is the core spell for any Fire Mage.

This spell is vital from the start of the game all the way to raiding. It provides solid damage for the Mana cost and a very useful slow. It is the core spell for any Frost Mage and serves as a filler for Arcane Mages in raids.

An instant spell that hits the target for a high amount of fire damage. This can be used in PvP to burst down targets, but otherwise finds little use.

First channeled spell available to a Mage. It does good damage for its cost, but it is outshone by Fireball, Arcane Blast, and Frostbolt due to their damage, Mana efficiency, and synergy with talents.

The first AoE spell available to a Mage. This spell does very effective AoE damage but is outshone by Blizzard, which allows Mages to control enemies when combined with the Improved Blizzard talent. However, it is still useful for instant AoE damage.

Every Mage's favorite AoE spell. When this spell is combined with the talent, it can be used to consistently damage melee enemies while keeping them far away. Using this spell with Frost Nova can be devastating to groups of melee enemies, as you are able to constantly slow and freeze them. This is often used by Mages to take down multiple enemies quickly.

High damage AoE effect spell. This spell is unique as it only damages enemies in a cone in front of the Mage. It is often used in AoE farming and PvP as a high damage tool when combined with the and talents.

Unique AoE spell, as it damages enemies over time, in addition to its initial damage. This spell is mostly used by Fire Mages when fighting groups of enemies. However, it can be very useful in any situation with groups of enemies.

(Talent in Fire)

One of the most iconic Mage spells. The spell has a very long cast time but deals incredible damage. It is a good way to start a fight or can be combined with Polymorph to easily damage a helpless enemy. Requires 10 points in the Fire tree.

This spell has a very short cast time. It is used in PvE when combined with the and talents as it can increase all Fire damage done to a target.

Explosión Arcana

One of the newest additions to the Mage arsenal with TBC. This is the core damage spell for Arcane Mages and is able to put out massive damage. However, it comes at a cost as each cast increases the Mana cost.

Another new Mage addition, this time Frost themed. This is an incredible Frost Mage spell as it is instantly cast and capitalizes on the Mage fantasy of freezing their enemies.

(Talent in Fire)

The final talent of the TBC Fire Mage tree. This is a strong area of effect damage spell, and as an instant cast, it is very handy for quickly taking down a group of enemies. Requires 40 points in the Fire tree.

Defensive Spells for Mage DPS in TBC Classic

This is the first Armor spell available to Mages. It provides a very useful boost to armor to the Mage, as well as inflicting a slow on any enemies who strike the Mage with a melee weapon. It is later replaced by an improved version, Ice Armor.

Upgraded version of Frost Armor. It becomes available at level 30 and provides the added bonus of Frost Resistance. This spell is useful while levelling, but is later outshone by Mage Armor and Molten Armor, as the former allows a Mage to regenerate Mana while casting, while the latter increases damage.

One of the only ways for a Mage to block physical damage. This spell absorbs a set amount of physical damage but drains Mana for every point of damage done. It is generally not very useful as it can drain a lot of Mana, but it can be used in a pinch.

One of the best defensive spells in the entire game. This spell makes the Mage completely invulnerable and is definitely a lifesaver for anyone who is able to use it. It has a long cooldown, but it can be shortened by the talent. With TBC, it's available to all three specs, rather than just Frost.

(Talent in Frost)

A very strong shield that is only available to Frost Mages. It blocks any type of damage and allows Mages to cast without worrying about spells being pushed back by damage. Just like Ice Block, the cooldown can be refreshed using Cold Snap, and it is very important in PvP. Requires 30 points in the Frost tree.

Invisibilidad

A brand new spell with TBC which allows Mages to turn invisible! It's a great all-around tool and can be used defensively to avoid combat or escape a tough spot.

Utility Spells for Mage DPS in TBC Classic

One of Mage's staple buffs. Increases Intelligence on any target it is cast on, which is always useful for anyone with Mana. This can be upgraded to , allowing the spell to buff the Mage's party in one cast.

Incredible control spell that disables a target for a lengthy duration. This spell is very handy throughout the game, in every aspect of the game. It can be used in PvE to disable a powerful monster while killing their allies, or in PvP to disable a target. Just remember, using Polymorph on a damaged enemy will rapidly heal them!

This spell is a powerful AoE control tool. It is amazing against any melee opponents, allowing the Mage to lock them down and create space. It can be used in combination with Blizzard against groups of enemies to control them and take them down all at once. It is also vital against melee classes in PvP, as it allows a Mage to create enough space to safely cast their spells.

Slows down falling speed and can potentially save the target from a fatal situation. Very handy to have in case you find yourself falling, just remember it requires a Pluma ligera!

Removes one curse from a target. This spell is very strong against any target that casts curses, such as a Warlock in PvP.

This spell lets you see what buffs a target enemy has. This can be useful in PvP to see what you’re up against, but has little use otherwise.

Increases the magic damage and healing taken by a target ally. This can be useful if fighting opponents that deal only physical damage, as it will increase healing taken with no downside.

Polar opposite of Amplify Magic. It can be useful if you are fighting opponents that deal a vast amount of magic damage. It depends heavily on the situation, however, as healing received is also reduced.

Evocación

This spell restores a large amount of Mana over 8 seconds. It is exceptionally useful in long fights where Mana becomes a problem, but it is a great all-around spell that reduces downtime.

Great spell for getting out of sticky situations and creating space. It can also be used to remove certain stun and root effects, such as a Warrior's , or a Druid's . It can also be used right before hitting the ground after a fall to avoid damage.

Absorbs Fire damage. Can be useful when fighting enemies with high fire damage. However, it does not have much use in the game.

Absorbs Frost damage. Useful against enemies who deal a high amount of frost damage. Like Fire Ward, it does not have much use in the game.

Contrahechizo

Mages only interrupt spell. It is incredibly useful in PvP when fighting other casters, especially when combined with the talent. If you manage to hit an enemy healer with a Counterspell at the right time, it can completely shut them down and turn the tide of a battle.

Teletransporte a: Ventormenta

The Teleport spells are a set of convenience spells. They allow a Mage to teleport him/her self to their faction’s capital cities. It is very useful for traveling around the world. Requires a Runa de teletransporte.

Portal: Ventormenta

Portals are another set of convenience spells. They allow a Mage to create a portal that allows the Mage's group to teleport to a selection of their faction's capital cities. Very useful to travel around the world, and this time bring your friends along. Requires a Runa de portales.

Mages are able to create food and drink, meaning they will always be able to regenerate Health and Mana when needed. This is a very convenient spell that saves both time and gold when shopping. The spell is upgradeable as you level, so remember to visit the Mage Trainer often to get the best Food and Drink possible

With TBC, Mages can create food and water tables. Long gone are the days of having to trade your party consumables individually; with this, they can get it themselves! Requires 2x Partículas Arcanas

This spell creates a Mana Gem of varying strength depending on rank. This allows a Mage to restore Mana instantly, similarly to a Mana Potion. However, you can only carry one at a time.

Very useful spell that can be used for quick control with Polymorph, or for burst damage with spells like Frostbolt, Fireball, Arcane Blast, and Pyroblast. Requires 20 points in the Arcane Tree.

Poder Arcano (Talent in Arcane)

Another very strong Arcane Spell that increases damage. This spell is generally only used by Arcane Mages and is best combined with Arcane Blast for massive damage. Requires 30 points in the Arcane Tree.

(Talent in Frost)

This is a solid, all-around utility spell. It can be used for more control, damage, or survivability depending on the situation. It resets the cooldown on key frost spells like Ice Barrier, Cone of Cold, and Frost Nova. These spells can then be used again to give you a massive advantage in any fight. Requires 20 points in the Frost Tree.

(Talent in Fire)

Increases critical strike chance of all Fire spells when activated. It is a very useful damage boost that is mostly used in PvE. Depending on the group, this spell may be rotated to control threat, or can just be used when an extra bit of damage is needed. Requires 30 points in the Fire Tree.

Ralentizar (Talent in Arcane)

A new TBC talent to cap out the Arcane tree. Rarely finds use as it is useless in PvE due to bosses being immune to it, and Arcane not being useful in PvP. Required 40 points in the Arcane tree.

Invocar elemental de agua (Talent in Frost)

An all-new spell that appears at the end of the Frost tree. This time it's one that is very useful, as it not only provides Mages with anextra touch of damage, but also an extra Frost Nova. Requires 40 points in the Frost tree.

Venas heladas (Talent in Frost)

A strong new cooldown that increases casting speed and reduces interruption by damage. Very useful for every Mage spec as it adds a lot of damage. Requires 10 points in the Frost tree.

Robar hechizo

Another new Mage spell in TBC. This one is mostly useful in PvP, as it allows Mages to steal enemies' buffs. Also vital for a boss fight in Gruul's lair.

A classic armor mage for spells, used by Arcane Mages for the extra Mana regeneration.

A brand new Mage armor. It increases damage done and is the go-to armor for Fire Mages.

In actual TBC T5 raids the mages in my guild (myself included) played an arcane spec that worked roughly like: Spend most of your mana on Arcane Blast and the rest on Arcane Missiles, frequently proccing this trinket. If memory serves, this was a widespread approach to playing the spec, taken straight from Elitist Jerks. Yet you don't even make a mention of this. If it has turned out this is in fact a bad way to play arcane, it would merit a mention in the guide to not confuse so many veterans.

This is not true, they stack.
