Increases speed by 8%. It does NOT stack with druid's "Feral Swiftness" or travel/ flight form.

How does Meta socket work?
I dont rly got the requires atleast 2 yellow sockets and things like that. Do im going to put normal sockets on the meta socket spot first or just have them on other items?=P

The upgraded version would be the Swift Skyfire Diamond (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25894) which CAN be easier to get if you happen to be a server where your faction never seems to control the spirit towers. Otherwise, one run through Shadow Labyrinth with the Blessing of Auchidoun will net you enough shards to buy this gem.

I would like to know if this stacks with the rogue assassination talent Fleet Footed (8% speed increase).

It probably doesn't, since 16% passive speed increase would be a lot, but I'd still appreciate if someone who has done some previous testing gave me a definite answer.

I just bought the materials for Skyfire Diamond to get Swift Skyfire Diamond (Same as this except +4AP) then I noticed this one and checked my bags and noticed I have 8 Spirit Shards. I almost had a heart attack.

Worth using if you have a helm with a Meta socket you plan on replacing soon; 8 shards are probably easier to come by than the 100+ gold needed for a REAL meta gem.

The runspeed is great - but every class should be using either
Boar's Speed https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=34008
or
Cat's Swiftness https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=34007
on their boots anyway, leaving room in the Meta slot for a better Meta gem such as https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32409 .

Also the gems it requires (2 yellow 1 red) can be anywhere on you.
the gems that say "Fits a (2 colors count as each of those colors) so 2 yellow on any item and one red on any item will work. as will 2 orange on any of your teems total. or 2 void spheres any where on you total.

This is actually a very nice meta gem for a pvp warrior considering you should be gemming souly with red/yellow sockets. It is also very easily attainable and cheap which makes it good to fill the meta in your s1 helm till you get your s3 head piece and care to drop 100-150g (depending on the server) on Swift Skyfire Diamond. It also allows you to put surefooted Surefooted on your boots without losing the much needed +speed bonus. Great gem overall.

It stacks with aspect of cheetah and pack. I tested this, running in an instance against people without the speed enchant. I was overcoming them noticeably without an aspect and when I turned aspect of the pack on, it was even more noticeable. Apparently the speed effect multiplies or something. I am pretty sure I was as fast if not faster than Druids travel form, which is 40%.

hmm.. i can see this fitting the helm for hunters quite well..best way for shards is run the first boss in mana tombs 26 times and you will have enough for helm and gem for it :P

that means that you need those Gems in your eqp for that bonus to show effect for example this one here says you need 2 yellow and 1 blue......1 glove can have a yellow and legging can have yellow and blue and that will give you the socket bonus.

I certainly don't have this yet, but I'm very curious about the movement speed increase of the gems. So far, it seems like the big benefit of the gems is that while their effects are very small, they stack with everything. I'd like multiple confirmations and ideally some data on whether or not the movement speed stacks with some of the new enchantments, like Cat's Swiftness. I'm particularly interested in this gem, because it's got the same type of bonus as the Swift Skyfire, but for 4 points less. One possible justification for that is a stacking bonus.

I don't think a 1.166 speed bonus would be too sick. It's much less than the various class travel powers, at any rate.

Correct. No effect if all requirements aren't met. Orange/Green/Purple gems, however, count as more than one gem color at once for the purpose of meta gem requirements. So if you have an orange and a yellow gem equipped, you meet the requirements....

i am useing Shoulderpads of Assassination and there is it 2 yellow sockets and i have 2 yellow gems there. and i am useing Helm of the Claw and there it is a meta socket and a yellow socket. so if i use a red gem in the yellow socket do i then get the socket bonus of my meta gem?(minor speed and 20 atp)

Remember when you learned to mix primary colors in grade 1?

For example if you need a yellow gem but all you have available is a blue socket, and you don't want to lose the socket bonus, green gem = problem solved.

This works for ANY combination, as the sockets and meta requirements are always for the primary colors, never the secondary ones.

All the comments here explain how gems work.
What I would like to know is your opinion whether this meta gem is worth getting over Swift Skyfire Diamond?
I mean is +4 AP worth spending a lot of money (considering you don't have alchemist/JC alts) on Skyfire Gem? Of course it's not like Windfire is free, one will have to run Shadow Lab twice (hopefully with a good PuG :))
I really do have a dilemma now: do I spend $ to get Swift Skyfire Diamond or do I spend time to get Swift Windfire Diamond which is a little worse in quality?

It seems as tho many of you cannot grasp the socket bonus aspect. It's simple, all you have to do is READ what it says. "2 yellow, 1 red". This means, for those of you that still dont get it that you MUST have 2 yellow and 1 red gem EQUIPPED on any other peice of gear you have. For those of you that STILL dont get it, look below for examples.

Y=Yellow, R=Red, G=Green, O=Orange P=Purple (other colors do not apply)

I thinks thats about it. If i missed one, feel free to reply so other confused ppl will understand and have a CLEAR "HOW TO SOCKET AND GET THEIR BONUS" instructions.

1 thing that ppl have not mentioned in here is the stacking to talent points (other than rogue talents). My question, if it can be answered, is does it stack with a pally's Pursuit of Justice (Ret tree). It says no on the talent, which leads me to believe this would be a waste of a meta gem. The talents for speed boosts are 5, 10, 15% run speed increase (and mounted). So if i was to get 1 point, 5%+the gem 5%, then would it be 10%? Im guessing not...

Lastly, you guys all need to think about this as well. When does this run speed even matter? PVP. Depending on your class, you may or may not need this. My 2 cents on this would be for class that does not have a "catch up" ability like a wars charge/intercept, or a ranged class that can slow runners (hunts/mages). So once you think about it, it would only really benefit locks, pallies, rogues, priests. Priests if theyre not shadow, rogues for once they used up sprint, pallies if they dont have their 2 stuns (if theyre ret). Also, think about the situations that this will benefit most form and how much it will benefit. First off, whether u have a 5% or a 6%, if your chasing someone down with no% run speed, u will chase um down either way. If they have the 6% and not a hunter with aspect or a rogue/druid with sprint, then you wont be able to catch them either way.

I say if you want a cheap efficent way to get some extra catch up speed and use ur boots for something better such as 12 stam or 12 agil, then go for this. If you want the best possible, get the +6 from the cats swiftness. If you are a pally with 3/3 in PoJ, then you will be able to catch up to anyone (except for a sprinting rogue/druid or a blinking mage).
