For this quest you're going to need to kill the various ogres in Warmaul Hill and collect 7 of their skulls. Use these Skulls at coords 28, 24 in the summoning circle to summon Gurok(it's on top fo the mountain/hill). You'll want a group of 2 or more for him.

Rogue, Lock, Shadowpriest. No potions, just dps + vampiric embrace is enough, not a very tough fight even. Probably doable with 2. Rogue + Lock managed to down him to 2%.

Druid schmuid I solo'd this as a 66 Aff lock + Enslaved felguard legionairre from Forge Camp Hate.

They hit damn hard, Gurok really didn'jt last long. I barely had to do any dps myself.

Killed him with a 67 Druid and Hunter. Pet tanking makes this easy, since the pet is immune to the knockback.

Easily killed with a feral druid, warlock and mage. No healing needed.

Popped a couple of HoTs on me but they weren't really necessary. Fast DPS ftw, though. Not a hard fight.

Killed him with solo with a level 70 Elemental Shammy. I just popped out an Earth Elemental Totem, Searing Totem & Wrath of Air Totem then just dps the crap out of him while healing the tank once in a while. I ran out of mana once though so I had to use a mana pot.

Easy kill for a 70 prep rogue and a warlock, rogue tanked with evastion, killed him within it (evasion).

Solod as an enhancement shaman at 70. Popped Heroism and fire elemental totem (earth one was on cooldown) and chugged a super health pot. Somewhat tough but doable.

Locks get it easy. Enslave a Felguard from one of the camps, summon Gurok, DoT him and let the enslaved Felguard do the work.

Soloed this as a lvl 68 Demonology Warlock. I went up to Warmaul Hill killed some oger's to collect 7 skull's. And i cleared the path up to Gurok. And then i just went down and enslaved a Felguard at Forge Camp Hate. Took like 20 secs to kill Gurok. Easy as pie ;)

Killed him tonight - pretty easily, actually.

66 rogue, 67 mage and myself, 68 shammy.

I used my rock elemental to tank him and we laid on the damage. The elemental lasted juuust long enough. He died, but by then Gurok only had about 3k hitpoints left, so we took him down easily. He didn't do any knockbacks.

Just soloed as a 70 marks spec hunter, but I had to pop a health pot and came extremely close to dying. BM hunters should have an easier time with this.

Indeed. He hits pretty hard (450 average on a pet with 12k armour, and crits for 1k), but he only has about 25k hp and goes down very fast.

Definatly NOT solo-able as a 66 hunter. Killed pet before I even managed to get him to 75%, and kiting is useless as there are too many ogres on the way out. Definatly try and get a group for this one, a healer would be useful.

Confirmed as written above easily soloable as a lvl 68 affliction lock (surprised myself :P)

Just follow the instructions above ie. collect skulls first then go and enslave an elite legionnare (felguard) from the nearest forge camp.

Mount up and run to summing circle.

Then once u summon stand against a wall next to the circle and just dps him till he's down.

Lasted no more than 30 sec for me.

67 hunter couldn't take him solo.
Got him to 40% though, so with a 2man dps group or healer combi, it should be possible.

I actually was able to solo him as a level 70 enhance shaman. I created a Greater Earth Elemental as a tank and started to beat him down. I only had to cast a heal once on the elemental. However, Gurok never did a knock-back, dunno if it was because he was fighting an earth elemental or he never got the chance :)

I (a 69 arms warrior) did it with a 67 shadow priest and a feral druid. btw nothing will save u from when he punts u. Not a big stick, not a wall, abosolutly nothing. So listen to the wisdom of a former flying cow

Soloed him as a 70 lvl hunter with a dps pet and not tank pet.
I send the pet with bestial wrath and intimidation and then started dps it.I use trinkets and when the pet was at low health Give a distracting shot to focus on me and heal the pet.
After he hits me 3 times i feign death and he focus on pet.
He was then on 15% of health so it was easy.

2 Manned him with me being a lvl. 66 BM spec hunter having the owl tank and a 70 shadow priest heal. Keep mend pet up and when I pulled just be sure to have Feign Death ready.

Is it just me, or are the rewards totally not worth it for a holy pala?
Cause i did all other quests in Nagrand and i got a waaaaay better necklace of those =/

Was extremely easy to solo as a 70 Enhance Shaman, just used fire elemental totem at beginning of fight while i was backed up to one of the pillars, popped heroism, shamanistic rage and my +attack power trinket. Healed myself a few times when i got around 50% HP but took around 40 seconds. Gear mostly blues and a couple greens.

I can say that this boss is soloable as a 70 hunter, but it is not an easy kill. He is immune to freezing trap, so if your pet dies your best hope is to Feign Death and hope he does not resist.

First attempt was a failure, but I discovered Gurok had remarakably low health and/or armor. Resisted my Feign Death and I died.

Second attempt proved succesful. Gurok does not despawn upon death, so if another group doesn't jump him you can get back in time to kill him again. An early Intimidation helped my pet grab aggro and I wittled him down rather quickly to 60 percent. Pulled aggro and feigned death, started wittling him down again. 20%, pulled aggro again, again feigned death. Killed without to much difficulty.

He doesn't hit particularly hard, but he does posses two moves to be worried off. Entangling Roots and a Shock style attack that hit for around 1870 on me. His Melee attacks are not particularly strong, hitting for around 800 on me, but a crit can be devetating and you have to watch for his knockback.

Extremely easy to kill with a 70 elemental shaman. I'd suspect it can be done pre-70, actually. Just use your Greater Earth Elemental to tank.

Gurok did not knock the elemental back, though I don't know if that's because it is immune or if I just got lucky. The worst he did to me was entangling roots.

Gurok only has around 25,000 HP, so even with healing the elemental occasionally I finished the fight with half mana.

Tips from a 70 Feral Druid.

Gurok's Melee attack - Hits for 250-400 on a Feral Tank.
Gurok's Earth Shock attack - Hits for 1350-1380
Gurok's Entangling Roots dot - Hits for 187-188

I'm unsure if my tanking set will load, but let me give some pointers on this fight. Gurok hits decently hard, but hits slow. The main form of damage is that of Earth Shock. Your life will be easily eaten alive if you don't have a large amount.

Going into the fight, I had 21537 armor (67.10% mitigation) and 15145 hp. Dodge Chance of 19.43%. The benefit of having Idol of Terror increases your dodge chance, crit chance, armor count, and attack power. The more you hit, naturally the higher the chance of it proccing.

1. Fly to the Earthen Brand.
2. You will see several pillars which look like obelisks. This is where you will tank Gurok throughout the entire fight.
3. Place a quick HoT on yourself to mitigate Gurok's initial damage.
4. Demoralizing Roar > Mangle > Lacerate x 3-5. (Maul when you have the rage, keeping Lacerate and Mangle refreshed.)
5. Hit Charm of Alacrity at 80% of your life.

By doing a simple tank and spank type of mindset, I lived with 63% life. No healing or pots were involved. Naturally, this will vary with luck, skill, or gear. Because Gurok hits slow, your dodge chance as a druid will come in handy. I mentioned Charm of Alacrity up at bullet 5... use.. this.. to your advantage.

Gurok is not extremely hard. If you can't tank this guy, have your tank in your group do a similar fight. Demoralizing Shout/Roar, build threat, place back near obelisk... tank and spank. Enjoy.

really easy for a lock to solo (well a 70 at least)

1. grab all your skulls
2. enslave a felguard legionairre from one of the forge camps
3. fly to the ritual circle (your enslaved demon can run straight up sheer cliffs :S)
4. summon and kill gurok, just keep your dps in check in case you pull aggro off the legionairre (i had to use soul shatter once)

Coords 29,25 confirmed. At the top of Warmaul Hill. Get 7 skulls by killing ANY ogres in nagrand (I got mine at Laughing skull on the way there from Garadar)

Soloed it as a decently geared 70 PvP speced arms warrior.
Put on sword & board and fought him in Defensive stance with my back to the tree.
Used a health pot and one of those healthstones from Ogrila (prolly didn't need to use the pot but decided to play it safe). No cooldowns used though shield wall probably would have been good.

2nd wind + him casting Entangling roots ftw.

Took 2 tries only because at about 22% he did some garbage knock back that threw me all the way off the cliff and I died when I landed.

You dont need "tank" or a healer. Did him with a rogue and a hunter, rogue tanks with evasion, when its over - pet take over aggro.. dps him down, easy.

Soloed as a 70 healadin. You just have to make sure to pull him away a bit and back up against a big wall or else the knockback will hurt you and cause a lot of down time. Immune to stun so don't rely on it for heal time. He interrupts and does some light burst damage so keep yourself topped off. It took all my cooldowns, including lay on hands, and a mana pot.

Just soloed him as a 70 demo warlock. He is immune to fear but not deathcoil. Saved this for when my pet no longer had any aggro and couldnt get it back.

When you first walk up warmaul hill, take the path that is to the right. (If you go left you'll find a first set of caves.)

At the top of this hill, (There should be a large bonfire in the middle) there will be a cave to your left. (south-east-ish) Go north PAST this cave, and take the path leading up. There will be a glowing purple circle.

soloed as a 66 druid.on the 4th try :).it is hard but doable.used a super mana pot , innervate , and barkskin and almost failed anyway.he does knockback , roots , earth shocks and interrupts casts , and hits like a tank.oh , and he's immune to snares and stuns too.

Me as firemage and a 68 dps warr did him. Warrior got punted off hill and died when mob was @ 65%, i died @ 2%, ignite tick killed him.

I'd recommend some kind of healer, or 3 people.

All the way at the top of the mountain, stand in the middle of the purple glowing circle ring ... use the 7 skulls you've hopefully picked up.

He comes, pretty squishy... I did it with 4 people, can probably pull it off with two or three pretty easily.

Unable to solo as a 66 enh shaman. Got my elemental to tank him, but he required too much healing and I went OOM pretty quickly.

So DO NOT FIGHT this guy on the summoning circle. He will knock you off the ledge.

I was multiboxing 3 Shadow Priests, surrounding him in a triangle and he knocked all of them off the mountain one by one.

Needless to say I was upset.

Fight him downstairs the ramp a bit and face your back to a mountain wall.

Some say you can face your back to a pole, thats what I did when I did my triangle formation, and they still got knocked off the cliff.

The Graveyard is SO FAR from the platform.

Spent 20 minutes gathering the skulls and going all the way up the mountain only for this mob to kick me off the mountain. I thus decided to skip this garbage of a quest. Not worth the retry.

I pulled it a bit below the top, put my back on the mountain, used shadow fiend, full dots, fade and gg.

You must go to Warmaul Hill to the northwest and find where ogre worships Gurok. You put ogre skull from Warmaul ogres on Gurok's earthen brand. Only then will Gurok come. Seven skulls.

If you live, bring Gordawg back Gurok earthen head. Gordawg crushes head.
