How does one actually capture these towers? just by sitting inside or ... ?

Horrible. There were no Horde around at all, and all 4 towers were already controlled by the Alliance. I had come back a few hours later and do it.

I don't know if there's a timed reset, as I was out of the zone for the whole time, but if there isn't, it should be added.

I've noticed something that I'd like to point out to people doing this quest.

On my server, nobody actually attempts these as a real PvP objective. I don't remember that ever being done. But now, they're very rarely bothered with. However, once in a while, somebody comes along trying to get back at the opposite faction or piss them off and AFKs in a tower to get it fully aligned with their faction. This can hurt your faction, as it makes towers harder to get for the oppossing faction, thus HARDER TO GET BACK for your faction. It'll make quests a lot longer and a lot more difficult for your fellow Hordies or Allies. Just don't do it.

10 - 15 minutes? No, it does not take that long at all. 6mins tops. Easy quest as long as there's no pvp'ing going on. Often 60+ Horde seen around the towers.

I'd also like to add for those that don't already know = Hit your SHIFT+M (M being the default key for the map) will bring up a mini battle map which shows the locations of the towers and which colors control them.

It's worth noting that the Plaguewood Tower doesn't seem to have a cap meter attached to it. It seems to capture within the same amount of time though...

I seriously fell asleep doing these tower caps.. took around 5 mins per tower, was worse if the marker was full on the horde side..

just to get stuff straight here:, Go in, sit in the tower (if alone) for 6 minutes and that's it... If not attacked by horde i mean.

I Just did this quest. It is pretty easy just go to each tower, stay on your mount, and wait. Then run to the next tower and keep watch on the outside.

Enable pvp and just stand there yes. DO NOT attempt to capture the towers once they are already under alliance controlled. If your on a server where horde never decides to take control of the towers, skip this quest. No need to post cords. since its on the map -_-

if u capture crown guard tower, and then go for eastwall tower. u will get a group of soldiers to help you find the northpass tower and actually help you capture it. found it took 3 mins to capture it with them... but they wont go with you to pleaguewood tower

Looks like i was really lucky to be hones =) I woke up and logged in @ morning and all the 4 towers were grey so i just went to all of them and could capture without that PvP bar even appearing . Just sit inside for aprox. 1 minute and had the tower then take a fly to the next one. If you'r really lucky you can get the towers easily otherwise i don't think this quest worth the time...Hf

You get different helps by capturing 1 of the towers :

1.Plaguewood Tower : u get a ghostgryphon ride to the Northpass tower
2.Northpass Tower : a shrine appears and by clicking on it you get Lordaeron's Blessing buff (Health increased in EPL,Stratholme,Scholomance by 5%)
3.Eastwall Tower : nothing happened for me
4.Crown Guard Tower : nothing special happened here

Maybe if you start capturing in other order these helps are given aswell or some others aint sue about it :)

Easy enough, just requires patience. I actually had a horde rouge trying to do it at the same time, but I just went to a tower and it worked out because we easily capped the towers the other one had just capped.

Not that she didn't kill me on sight when she did see me though. : /

For those of us who haven't done pvp before, can someone please explain how this works? Do the towers need to occupied by the opposing faction to be able to capture them?

You must be pvp flagged in order to capture a tower. You cannot get credit for capture unless it was neutral or controlled by opposing faction. A progress bar will appear. EPL map shows the four towers and who controls them.

Is it possible to "capture" a tower, which is already captured by your own faction? Do towers automatically turn neutral after a while? Or is there another way to finish the quest when all towers are already captured?

Go to the tower controlled by the Horde. You must be /pvp and wait 5 minutes before you officially capture the tower. Stay inside the tower, at least that is my suggestion and how I did it. I soloed these and it was quite easy. IF Alliance does not own all the towers, and you capture one, a spetral griffon master appears when the tower is captured and you can take a spectral griffon to the tower of your choice. All I did was go inside, /pvp and a bar appears that shows you the progress of the capture, and it takes 5 minutes of waiting for it to be captured. Then I /pvp again to toggle it off and waited 5 minutes for my pvp flag to drop. Pretty easy if you ask me, especially during the early morning hours when hardly anyone is on and defending. I would imagine it's the same for the Horde because I saw their griffon master also in front of the tower before I captured it. He disappears when you /pvp and wait the alloted time.

If the tower is already part of your faction you need only go inside and /pvp yourself. A bar will show up, wait the alotted time and the tower is yours.

I went /pvp and stayed in tower for few mins and then i saw these lordaeron soldiers at the front... does this mean I've almost captured the tower?

this quest is great! all u do is ist in a tower for 5 min while flagged. nobody really cares if u capture the tower so its a win win. ez quest

You get no credit if its neutral or owned by your faction, wait till the oposing faction takes it then take it yourself, only way it gave me any credit for the quest objectives.

You most definitely CAN capture a neutral tower. I went in, sat down and waited til the bar moved into the blue area and I got the whoopdeedo of success. Did this with two towers. However, the other two were already alliance controlled. Sat in one for over 15 mins until the bars moved all the way to the end and nothing.

I am not sure, but I think what you have to do is wait OUTSIDE the area of influence for the bar to migrate back into the grey, then go back in and it should work. But I ran out of patience.

apparently, you only get credit if you are in the tower at the moment it moves to blue. I walked into one tower when it was neutral RIGHT as it shifted into blue (some other guy had been sitting there a while) and got the quest credit, and then went to another one and killed the two horde that were sitting there over and over until the tower moved to neutral and then alliance, but I guess since I was outside of the tower when it shifted to blue, I got the notification at the bottom of the window that it had been captured by the alliance and NO quest credit. Either it's bugged, or you have to be inside at the exact moment.

took the three first towers at plaguewood the griffin master was there, i went in with pvp on, but no bar popped up. But after a while (probably the usual time) it turned grey, and viola quest comleted

Everybody should be aware that there's a 50/50 chance that the tower-control slider may be at it's max, either way, expect to be at each tower for quite awhile. The slider moves somewhere in the area of one increment per minute and each increment is so miniscule.

Those curious about Honor Points, I unfortunately netted a whole 18 points per tower captured .

When you capture the first tower, the Eastwall tower, a group of level 60 spectral soldiers appears to escort you to the Northpass tower. When you capture the Northpass tower you get "the blessing of Lordaeron" or whatever the horde one is, 5% bonus to life for 30 minutes. At the Plaguewood tower, a spectral griffon master appears and takes you to the tower of your choice, which should be the Crown Guard tower at this point. Nothing special seemed to happen at the Crown Guard tower.

Gromwal is right, for some reason it doesn't appear any PvP-bar at Plaguewood Tower. Yet, it works the same way as the others. If it's not your faction or neutral, just wait a little, and the tower will be yours. Unless there is players of both factions at it, you cant capture a PvP-place when that's the situation.

it only takes one flagged ally or horde to capture it. will be slow so if you have a friend bring him along it doubles the speed. can stack up to 15 times. Also each tower has a sort of specialty. e.g Plaguewood tower has a gryphon master for horde and alliance to fly to any of the other 4 towers. only available there. and the northpass tower (only to alliance) has old lordaeron soldiers guarding it about 5 lvl 60s and a shrine to get a health bonus buff by 5%. Not so sure about other towers. Its just for pvp not really that good.

PVE serveur u need be flagged PvP todo this quest.

u need the turret be controled by a horde/alliance for controled it,

CAN't control the turret if controlled by same faction of you.

beter have friend to do this if u find enemy on road... but still be easy be solo if ur alone...

each turret take 1min to 5min to be controlled.
each time u gain control a turret u win some reputation and can
repeat it as long as u wanna... (think is around 100-140 reputation each...)

easy quest and experience... !

reward : 90Silver 6600exp (lvl 56)

k, sat on my ass, flagged and with the meter up for a good 10 mins. and nothing. The meter ran as far left into the ally range as it could go and still nothing. Anyone know what's wrong with this quest?

I had so many problems with this quest. Finally, contacted a GM. They said the quest is basically broken and going from neutral in to ally (or horde if you're playing that side) doesn't always work. The only surefire way to get credit for these towers if you start from the opposing faction's side and run the meter down into yours. And they said there actually has to be some sort of flagged opposing faction action going on, too. Which seems to be true because when I finally did get this quest to work there was a 66 undead rogue following me around at the same time from tower to tower.

Another thing I noticed, I started at the eastern tower (the one closest to WP was already netural) and once I took that tower, there was a small contingent of like 5 Lordaeron soldiers + a Commander that "escorted" me to the northern tower. I was doing this solo and having them there actually made the tower cap faster than when I was on my own. I assume it'll work at the tower by WP too, but I haven't tried it yet.

THe Plaguewood towere slider bar did not show up for me either, but i waited long enough and got the credit. So just sit tight, make some bandages or something while you wait and you will get the msg that you captured it. That is all

I have had random success with this on several Alliance characters.

If the tower is marked as 'Horde,' I have been 100% successful in "capturing" it. If it is marked anything else, 'Neutral,' 'Alliance, Progressing' (whatever that means) or '50%-Off Sale Through Saturday!,' it's a tossup. Sometimes I have been able to capture it and sometimes not. I have not been able to establish a correlation yet.

So roll the dice if you're near any of the towers but be prepared for some frustration or disappointment.

pretty easy, except for my first tower i went into stealth and nothing happened. so note to all rogues: dont stealth it wastes time. you cannot capture a tower that is already yours.

Just solo'd this as a lvl57 Warlock. Captured all four towers which give a total of 756 bonus honor and 6600xp. There is no 'extra' honor when you capture and have all four towers yourself. Took me about 35 mins to get all. Started at Eastern tower and worked my way up, then took the ghost gryphon back to eastern and went to crown.

ps. yes, this on a pvp server (Laughing Skull)

The tower has to be controlled by the opposing faction. If the tower is grey it won't count for the quest.

Yea this quest sucks. I just got it and as stated alliance always controls towers. I tried maxing out one of them just to see if I would get an update and I didn't. They really should allow you to get the update if the tower is all ready taken.

To all the Paladins on PvP server who have done thier Epic Mount quests, be very glad you did.

The section "Exorcising Terrordale" (Exorcising Terrordale is about 3 feet away from the West Tower. The quest can be done solo. On a PvP server where the Horde hold that tower, good luck. You might need a good amount of people to cover your back and DPS down those mobs very quickly to get out of there, fast. :P

It seems whenever I'm in EPL (which is often since I'm trying to empty out my log of the quests from there) the towers area all already claimed by my side (Alliance). Is there an ammount of time that it resets so that I can go claim it or do I have to wait around until a Horde person decides to make a go at one of them?

i tested this in a pve server so in a pvp server there is no need to open your pvp.
first u enter a controlled tower (get in the tower and stay somewhere inside :D)
then open your pvp flag by /pvp
type /join localdefense (if u dont have that channel). This will bring up tower count, battle map and a progress bar of your tower which u are waiting inside.
This will help u when capturing a tower.
For example if ur alliance: u start to wait,and wait, wait, wait and wait more to turn horde controlled to challenged (like the GYs of AV but here u just only wait.) then u wait wait wait and wait wait wait to change it alliance. When u change it to alliance then u gain 189 honor. and if ur on quest it says hurra! u ve captured the xxx tower (xxx u name it :P)
well if u insist waiting u gain honor per some time but sorry i didnt have that patience. whenever u captured one u can move to the next. its auto progressing.
when u complete q at 60 it only gives money. no rep no bonus honor. nothing except 4g.
the plaguewood tower has spectral griff u can use it to reach other towers quickly. northpoint tower has a 30 min % 5 sta buff.
1,2,3 towers in possession gives u %1,2,3 melee + ranged + spell dmg respectively
when u have 4 towers its % 5

well hope this helps a bit. have fun with capturing and blessed patience :P

I have the quest. I am in the eastern tower. I am PvP. No progress bar, or any sign the quest is working. What am I missing here? been here for more then 1/2 hour so can't be time!

If you are not on a PvP server, you will need to turn your PvP on to capture the tower. A progress meter will be displayed on the right side of your screen. I would suggest staying until the bar is all the way on your side, this will make the opposing side take longer to take control of the tower.

I was in EPL and our group had not done the PvP tower things yet so we figured WTF? Well, it's boring, because with TBC out almost nobody is in EPL anymore...except blood elf twinks.

So we see a tower change (Plaguewood) so we know Horde are there or nearby and PvP for at least 5 minutes. No we aren't griefers, so everybody calm down (that's for noobs anyhow). We head over and I hang out in the tower and sure enough, as soon as the tower goes grey, it was like we had just rung a big dinner bell cuz within about 1 minute two blood elf losers (paladin and mage) show up.

I hear them dismount (that "woouuung" sound), and I'm already on my mount so I try to gun it but the paladin is actually on his game and stuns me while the mage zaps on me, but as soon as the stun is off, I run off (lost my mount when an abomination add wanged me going by otherwise I would have left them in the dust easy).

Bwah-ha-haa! I led those chumps halfway across the zone)! I could see that mill near Light's Hope Chapel when the BE paladin FINALLY is able to bring me down (yeah, yeah, so he gets some piddly honor points off me or whatever...) then like a minute later the announcement "The Alliance has taken Plaguewood Tower" goes off. Good job protecting the tower, dipsticks! Freakin' greedy 12-year olds...

Anyways, we got a good laugh off it (we tried to find them and /point and /laugh but we couldn't find them). We knew stupid twinks can't resist a runner and NEVER wonder why I didn't just hearth out. Idiots.

does anyone know if there is a subtle timer (CD) on the bonus honor received? me and a horde (Ozuma) friend are trying to push the h/ph atleast for him however he received 189 honor twice. - Mirage-raceway (CLASSIC)

I believe its bugged, I killed alliance soldiers as enha, took half way to horde, and instantly it turned to blue and ally soldiers respawned

So, Northpass Tower was 100% complete on horde, and I stayed until it went to alliance and didn't get credit on the quest so decided to wait it out so that it would be 100% on alliance, still no credit. Classic Era EU. Very annoying :(
Was the same with Plaguewood Tower
I didn't bother with Crown Guard tower because it was also 100% Horde.

Eastwall tower was just barely on horde side and got credit for that tower

Hi,

It seems to be bugged.
Most of the times you do not get credit for waiting.
I think it might be if the tower is "in progress" from either side.
I have been triying for weeks and have only gotten two of them so far.

This morning I managed to get North tower. I noticed that Horde NPCs were stationed there.
After that, I tried both Plaugetown and Crown tower. No horde npcs and I did not get credit for those two.

So do not bother trying if the towers are in "progress" mode. It's a waste of time.

Season of discovery experiment. as of February 5th 2024 towers are either deactivated or you cannot shift control over time while level 25.
unsure if towers inactive or control shifting requires a minimum level.
