The felhound packs have fairly low HP, but they can be disasterous if they path over to you while fighting the Dreadlords; I suggest killing them first.

If you're having trouble finding the way to Diathorus, look out for small glowing stones on the ground, follow those as they mark out a small path to the entrance. You'll be in the right place at the start of the path of the monument is to your left.

Ok everyone has put good comments on this quest, however I still got a little bit confused - and that doesn't happen often, I swear!

Gorgannon - 89,76. Follow the first ramp directly to him.

Now here's where I got stumped...

Diathorus - Come back down the ramp you just went up to fight gorg... go the other way and look for the small glowing stones that senstarr mentioned, follow that to the top.

At the top and a few paces forward you'll see a bonfire and an entrance to a maze cave.

He's inside a maze cave filled with the demons you've been fighting since the first part of this quest. I submitted screenshots of the path you should take once inside this cave, but they're not posted yet so I will take the liberty of converting it to text.

- Go down the initial walk way till you get to the first intersection.

- At the first intersection bare left (not down a hallway!) down a ramp that spirals underground, follow that till the next intersection.

- At that intersection you will see a bridge straight ahead of you before you can see anything else, that is your yellow brick road to Diathorus.

Hopefully the screenies will be put up soon.. and no one is confused by my post :)

Thanks Steelbane for the nice screenies of where to go. I've just uploaded a 5th to show where on the minimap you need to be to find Diathorus, and what the final room looks like where he can be located.

What's this guy's respawn rate? I've been standing there for half an hour already and killed a couple waves of trash respawns and he won't show up... :(

Please be aware that Diathorus the Seeker spawns in 3 different places. Taking steelbane's directions, when facing the 'yellow brick road' I had to take a left instead and go and fight mobs all the way down until I found him. I uploaded a screenshot of where I was.

Do try and kill the packs of hounds first, they're easy (I was lvl 30/31) and they can be a pain when they walk by you and you're in the middle of a fight. Shamans, drop a magma totem and a health totem, and use earth shock as much as you can and you'll be fine.

Just to add, the "green" glowing rock things are near the monument. I had trouble finding these as I am Red/Green color blind. They looked red to me :)

After 2.3 nerf there are no felpuppies, and Diathorus spawned for me right at the bottom of the entrance. It was still worth it to clear the dungeon. Lots of experience. One point is that manaburn seemed to be an effective way to take down Diathorus. The suggestions to manaburn the Insane Druids got me thinking about using it on these casters as well. I was 5K away from dinging when I started this quest and ended up 10k over level.

I soloed this easily as a 30 fire mage--though I couldn't hit the fel elementals with any fire spells. I was ready to Counterspell Diathorus's fear or drain life, but my Pyroblast and Fireball critted and stunned--I was able to take him down before he had a chance to cast anything.

Diathorus: Cave system top NE section up the ramp inside the demon valley thing, about even with the monument to Grom Hellscream. As far down as you can get in the cave system, as far north on the bottom level.

Gorgannon - ten times easier to find, heading into the valley, take path up to the left, back of that after the two hanging blades in the air.

Hey all,

I completed this quest as a lvl 28 Druid.

The only one who I had trouble with was Gorgannon. For everything else I unleashed starfire, then Faerie Fire, then Moonbeam. Then turn into bear form and start wailing. If your health runs low, turn back to druid, heal, then back to bear.

The easiest one to kill was Diathorus the Seeker.

I soloed this as a 30 warr. U can pull all the succubus away from Gorgannon before u go in and fight him. They are both level 32 non elite.

I did this by my self, lvl 30 Tauren Warrior (dps). It wasn't much of a sweat.
As mentioned above, it's a good thing to take out elementals one at a time. The hounds are no problem. Just use cleave or retaliation if you have it, takes 'em out swiftly. When it comes to the Seeker bastard, I used demoralizing shout(rank 2) & Piercing howl, then alternated sunder armor(rank 2) and heroic strike(rank 4.) The only thing precaution I took was killing off everything in the same area, including the hounds. The seeker calls for help when he's low on hp, then leeches your health, which can be a bad situation.

The Gorgannon bit was so straight-forward I won't even mention it further.

It took me forever to find Diathorus the Seeker! Path up to his area is at 82,77 and "light" by small illuminated glyphs. Cave entrance is 78,81. Hope that helps!

Got the quest and headed down to the Demon Fall Canyon.

First thing to watch out for is the patrol of 5 fellhound creatures, all level 29 and 30. Try to avoid them if possible. We stealthed round them.

The entrance to the Barrow Den is up a path, which starts at 83,78 and goes up to a clearing, then almost straight across the clearing is the entrance to the Barrow Den at 78,82.

Going down the barrow den be VERY careful as there are patrols of 5 Felhound creatures which come up the corridors, you CAN'T get past them if they are in one of the spiral corridors as you go into the Barrow Den. We waited till they came up to the entrance and then followed them down, once inside to an area wide enough we stayed in stealh and hid behind a pillar, waited for them to turn and go back up the tunnel and then carried on inside.

You will find more patrols inside and it is a matter of watching them carefully to see what route they take and how to get past them.

Diathorus the Seeker - Go down the initial spiral corridor and then bear left. Keep going down until you see an entrance straight ahead, go through there (again another felhound patrol) and then go over the left hand bridge. Once in there go down the tunnel on the left and him and a Felguard are in the little room at the end. He is lvl 32 and goes down pretty easy.

Getting back out, again watch the patrols of felhounds to get the timing right on sneaking past them.

Once out, head back down the path into the main canyon again and then head back on yourself till you see a slope up to your right. Go up here (Again watch out for the patrol of 5 felhounds) and follow it round at the top to 90,77 where you will find Gorgannon. He has 4 Succubus with him, we managed to pull the first two nearest you as you approach and then found a small clearing behind the tents on the right, from there we were able to pull the Succubus nearest us and kill her without Gorgannon noticing.

Finally one of us took him and the other took the Succubus.

Done.

I've killed Gorgannon already but Diathorus won't spawn for me.

I put a ticket in after a Horde group and an Alliance group showed up and they waited with me for an hour or so. The GM said the spawn rate was working as intended. ? After 90 mins, I just left. They continued to wait.

Came here and read to see if there was a touchstone, a special mob to kill, or an alluring dance that would get him to show.

Anyone know the trick to getting him to make an appearance?

**EDIT: Okay, here's what I've learned. Diathorus just doesn't spawn in that small bottom room of the complex, but in two other places besides. There is a ramp bridge (very steep and a single) that leads straight to one room. He spawns here, alone with no adds. A third spawn point I found him is: instead of crossing the above mentioned bridge you take a left at the base of the bridge. Go around the small rock wall to the right and down the corridor. He's all alone by himself at the dead end bottom.

I got tired of this place and didn't check for other possible spawn points.

It lists no prereq for this quest. However you will need to get a random drop from the mobs in Felfire. The drop will start a quest called Diabolical Plan. The follow up to this quest is Never again.

Diathorus the Seeker has an insane respawn time....

After finally finding the cave system, I took the ramp all the way to the bottom, killing as I went. As I finished the last demon just before Diathorus the Seeker, someone else, who had waltzed in on my kills, engaged Diathorus and killed him. I waited 2.5 hours, then gave up. I checked the two spots that have the same coordinates (78, 84 or so)...both a small dead-end cave at the very bottom (where he had been killed) and also the balcony right above.

And there were absolutely no green or blue items on any of the demons I kept killing.

I'm going back to do it again later, but need a break!

This Quest is pretty easy. Did it with a lv 34 night elf druid moderatly equiped. First guy very easiy same for the second guy except he spawns all over in the cave. took me almost 30 min to finally come across him. Very nice quest for Leather with the legion hounds if you can skin. I was dissapointed though i killed the first guy 3 times and got very little loot and the second guy didn't even give me silver all i got from him was some copper the only green item i got was off a lasher by the first guy and it was some mail leggings. Don't expect to much to be dropped that is my oppinion quest does work though. The trai of legion hounds are very easy to beat most of the time they took less than half of my health. How ever i did come close batteries died in mouse had to hurry to put new ones in and sync up the mouse but i survived. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

Well after 2 attempts I finally found him and he wasn't on the balcony. He was in the furthest south part of the caves at 79,85.

Solo'd with a level 31 warlock. Gorgannon was easy. Different story for the Seeker. I Died a few times because of wandering felhounds (they attacked me while I was fighting other things.) Also, while I was fighting him, he must have somehow aggro'd about 5 monsters in the area- not sure how!

Hardest part about this quest was finding Diathorus the Seeker (he eventually spawned back in a little room on the level below the first, at the end of the long tunnel). We (Druid and Mage, both lvl 31) had some competition at first, and think we were wandering around waiting for him to respawn without knowing it. The pack of dogs were easy to kill - I had to bash a few packs with my staff as I was out of mana. AoE spells work awesome for them.

They are awesome for leather. We walked away with 7 green items and about 4 gold in leather and a bunch of other loot. Great experience too, and neither boss posed any difficulty (granted there were two of us). Very nice quest.

Don't be scared of the patrols of 5 - 6, they go down very easy and only hit about 13 a time when wearing cloth. I just chucked dots on all of them and killed a couple and by 10 - 15 sec they were all dead.

very easy. done it at level 30. only thing i found hard about it was not getting killed by horde, who it seems are frequently in the are. i went below 50% health only once when i was surprised by a pack of felhounds after fighting a succubus.

Very easily completed this one solo with 36 pally. My epic sword and shield helped. They are right about the hounds, the five together are less than one of the demons. By the time I got to the last one the multiple consecrates had taken most of their health. Only lost about 30% of my health at one point after agroing 5 demons in a row somehow. All other times my health bar hardly moved and never needed a heal at any point but had to stop for mana. The first guy was a walk in the park as he is in in the open with some Succubus, the second guy you have to systematically clear the dungeon out. I found him in a room off an area that had a central platform with bridges across and a ramp down. For people with less armor and health clear the area out before taking him on as he calls for help and anything nearby enters the fight.

I killed them all, with my Druid at level 32. For Diathorus the Seeker, when you entered in the cave, just hold left......you will find him into a balcon. very easy to kill.

Soloed This one with a lvl 31 shammy.
They are quite easy to kill all of then, but you don't wanna aggro more that one elemental at a time because they are immune to fire.
The rest of the gang is piece of cake. Even the felhounds!
Drop a stoneclaw totem, fire nova totem and then show them how nasty your weapon and Earthshock really is :)
-And it's really good to skin these puddles. I was grinding in the cave for about 45 min and my skinning got from 204 to 221 :) And you'll get about 4x Medium leather and 1x Heavy lether from them.

-But even though i went through the cave, i don't know how many times, i did not find Diathorus the Seeker. He was not at the balcony the directions in here tells about. Damn!

Don't be scared of the felhound packs, all of them together are only as strong as one of the infernals or felguards.

Soloed this quest as a 29 priest (quest was still orange) if that's any indication, and had no trouble. Other classes should be able to walk it easy.

why is it that Astranaar is under attack constantly? Members of the Bane of the Alliance guild can't find anything better to do? I get so tired of having to wait to fly out or buy trade gear etc. What a bunch of jerks.

89,76 for Gorgannon. head into demonfall canyon, ramp is on your left and easy to see.
78,82 for Diathorus. Path can be found up the ramp on your right (rather than on your left as it was for Gorgannon) just before the tombstone monument for Grom. the ramp has glowing statues. Follow to the top.

everyone has had different coords which means he probably spawns. I've been to every single coord on here and I find nothing but empty rooms or rooms with one demon in them. This quest is bogus.

This quest was not too hard, but not an easy one either. I went through with a lvl 29 warlock..no special armor..mostly all blue items. Picked up a nice necklace and a hell of a shield. Both guys took a little time, but nothing that couldnt be solo'd at this lvl..hitting w/ a rank5 shadow bolt doing around 140-250 shadow damage helps out ALOT..

i'm not posting to brag but, just giving a strat rogues can use

now Gorgannon was relatively easy, just clear the trash pull the last 2 with a ranged attack when he has his back turned and furthest away. All clear, now you can fight him one on one...

-> be sneaky and open with cheap shot, then backstab, sinister strike 'til no energy, then thistle tea, (you should have 5 combo points by now) then expose armor, then gouge and backstab, switch to swords which i have hot keyed sinister strike or pot if you're 30% or lower on hp then evasion a few more sinister strikes then slice and dice and finish him

Now Diathorus was alot more difficult

-> kill the lasher in front then go in, most likely you won't get an opener so just pull him with ranged, i go in with swords then sinister strike, expose armor, sister strike, thistle tea, gouge, (switch to daggers) backstab, (switch back to swords)sinister strike, then slice and dice, by now you'll prolly have to pot, so pot than evasion, i'm an orc so i have a racial ability to so i pop blood fury after evasion, get him as low as you can with no more finishing moves just sinister strike 'til last possible second about 10% or so of your health than pop vanish, (key is to vanish with as many combo points on him as possible) ok now rest up just outta agro range of the first lasher, so go back down the hallway a little bit and just sit stealthed and wait for your vanish 5min. cooldown... Now the next part is a bit tricky cuz the lasher's back but if you kept Diathorus targeted you should have 5 or close to 5 combo points on him...

Now don't worry about the lasher just charge in with daggers and expose armor on Diathorus immediately then gouge and backstab, switch to swords sinister strike 'til no energy , then thistle tea, you'll prolly have to pot shortly cuz the lasher will be beating on you, so pot then evasion , then i also blood furry, then gouge, switch to daggers, backstab, switch to swords, sinister strike 'til 5 combo points then eviscerate , should be dead or really close to dead, now the second he dies cuz you'll be close to dying pop vanish to get the lasher off you, run back just a little bit and bandage, restealth and cheap shot the lasher then backstab, switch to swords then finish her, loot corpses.

:) yay solo as 28 rogue

*special note, one thing you'll have to be doing is "kicking" inbetween everything i mentioned above, when they start to cast. and the Diathorus fight is tougher alone for that reason cuz you might have to switch targets mid fight to kick the casting lasher.

also the order of events isn't totally exact, but you should get the picture
all i'm saying is, IT IS do able as a 28 rogue, don't know about other classes, just speaking from personal exp. So if you're a Rogue hope this guide helps and gives you inspiration :)

Just thought I'd note : Guys, I agree the spawn rate / placement is annoying but - this is the first time any toon will actually face leaders of the Legion. This should be a big deal, and should not be a solo-able quest IMO.

I mean come one. There is a group-only quest in Loch Modan for that Ogre leader (is he still elite?). This should be a major quest, and definitely be a group-only quest.

Give these two Legion leaders some dignity Blizz. Make them Elite, and pump up their level a bit.

If there is any quest that should be tough and make the 12yr olds cry - this is the one.

You will find Gorgannon in Demon Fall Canyon south beyond Felfire Hill, near Mannoroth's floating, broken spear.

Diathorus the Seeker resides somewhere in the barrow den atop Demon Fall Ridge. To find the ridge, look for a ramp up from Demon Fall Canyon near the Horde's monument to Grom Hellscream.
