Soloable at 60 or thereabouts. The key to killing him is that he's Fearable, so you can mostly just wait 'till he's risen, Fear him, DoT him up, then send your pet after him. He spawns in a nice, isolated bit of Felwood, so you almost certainly won't have any problems with adds from the craters. Make sure you keep an eye on him in case Fear breaks early. Keep a Health and SoulStone up, just in case, and if all else fails, banish'n'bandage.

For those of your who are slightly more daring, this is easily doable at level 50. You have to be more careful and I personally used Banish a lot more than fear. But bring a lot of bandages and expect to spend a while trying to kill him.

This quest is easily soloable at 50-53. Be careful, and be patient on this kill:

There are two key spells you will need on this one: Curse of Agony and Fear. I suggest using your imp for the stamina buff, for you might need extra mana via lifetap later if you wish to use corruption as well.

Start the fight, do NOT attack with your imp. Cast fear first, followed by curse of agony, and corruption if you wish. Kroshius is immune to fire spells, so no immolate. Apply Curse of agony and fear as necessary, and when he is at about 10 percent, feel free to nuke him at will.
This fight can take up to 10 minutes, so be sure to remain patient.
When kroshius dies, return to Impsy, and be prepared for a glorius suprise that will be a thing to remember =D

You can find him at 45, 35, in the valley on the north side of the Shatter Scar Vale. I solod him as a 53 lock, using fear bomb and CoA. I used an imp for stamina buff, and I had Power Word: Fortitude on as well. If you are lower than 53, I recommend finding a duo, or buffs.

Discarding and then getting the quest again is the only way I have found to get your Fel Fire back.

I just solo'd him at 55. He toasted my Felguard within seconds, as he hit for 600+ and critted for 1288 on his first hit. EASY to solo if you just keep him dotted and feared - no pet needed. He never ran down to get adds or anything.

Oh, and if he walks over you, you get hit by his fire shield. It only dealt 42 damage to me, but it's worth staying out of his way if he got a few hits on you already.

To the guy that said 10 min fight... please dear god get some skill.

Full demo spec lock here, killed him in under 1 min, didnt even have a chance to do a second Soul Fire.

Let me clarify some facts:
- NOT IMMUNE TO FIRE
- NOT A HARD FIGHT
- EASILY SOLOABLE WITH ANY SPEC

If you know what your doing you could easily solo at 50.
I did this quest at 53.

He only got 1 hit on me and it was the knockback move.

Also please dont banish and bandage, just keep all possible dots including Immolate and keep his ass feared... easy fight.

Died first time with imp out at 53. Affliction spec

2nd time, used void for the initial agro, died fairly quick but did help.
Then it was a matter of timing with fear, agony/corruption/searing pain and death coil
I tried imolate a few times but said immune

Just took a while and one pot to get mana up as no pet to for dark pact.

Did it as 55, Affliction. I wouldn't have wanted to try any earlier because of spell resist--one missed Fear and you're a wet smear on the ground. Just keep your DoTs refreshed (having UA was a big help) and chain-fear and he'll go down soon enough.

Just Solo'd as a 56 Demo lock, although i didn't have any of my lvl 56 spells yet, and i didn;t use the talent point yet. I used all of my mana. You HAVE to fear the infernal the entire time because he hits for 600. Killed my felguard whenever it wasn't feared. Had to use fel-dom.. Ended up killing him with about 1k life left and no mana. Probably not doable at much lower of a level. Also used deathcoil. Constantly had dots going and threw in a shadowbolt whenever possible. Was NOT immune to my immolate for some reason. All 3 dots were ticking the entire time.

If you are a demonology warlock like me, then felguard is your key. When you summon the infernal stay a little away before he is attackable. Then let felguard charge in, put your dots (and wand maybe?). I suggest not to heal felguard. When your pet is about 500hp, use fel-dom and summon another felguard (in 0,5 seconds:). Then you will get all the agro and you must fear the infernal, send pet, cast dots etc... I was level 55 when I did this. I got hit once because I was late on casting fear, that's all. 'took about a minute.

Accidentally did this quest while trying to get my Dread Steed. Took less than 1 minute to bring him down, at lvl 60. DoTs and Drain Health, nothing fancy but got the job done quickly

to clear things up, Kroshius is killable at level 50 but the resists can be as annoying as hell, which is why I recommend level 52.

the fight is truly a warlock-fight, all you do is fear and dot. you keep your imp out as the extra stamina is useful since Kroshius hits really hard (which is why you have to keep him feared and can't tank him), and because of fear - you need ranged dps.

at level 52 you Do kill him in one minute. (if you're not affliction then you might as well play hunter or mage)
if it takes longer than two minutes, you need to get better gear or just get better =)

when you complete this quest, Impsy will finally succeed in summoning.. El Pollo Grande! =)

I did this quest at level 52. First I tried the enslaving an infernal but during the course of the fight it kept breaking. So I did it the old fashion way, summoned an imp(mana battery) and just feared/dotted him. Took a while but I was finally able to kill him.

Did this quest at lvl 53. Destruction spec. Try to use fear strategy but fail. Then I went to find a lvl 53 elite infernal around, put curse of shadow on him before enslave. Use enslaved infernal to attack while I fear, curse of shadow and shadow bolt on my target. Kill in 1 min. Drink 1 pot 1 stone and did use bandage. Because my ping is around 600+, He can do 1 hit on me before I can fear him.

I am a 52 full spec demonologist, and I tried every strategy there is here so that I could solo it. Eventually my best strategy became to call on three of my guildies to come and help. We took him down on the first fight. But I ended up dying about 12 times trying out all these strategies... was it worth it.. HELL YES!

Oh and fire spells do affect him!

I just soloed that quest as a level 52 affliction warlock. I summoned my voidwalker and kept kroshius feared while keeping all of my DoTs on him, plus drain life. I lost my void walker when I wasn't quick enough on the refear, but other than that, it was easy. Never even had to use my healthstone.

Very tough and technical fight. But soloable on 51. The trick is to keep him feared. Don't wait till he's released - fear, fear, fear. Put all your DoTs on him and fear. Renew DoTs and fear again. Imp if best for this fight, he do some DPS in addition to you from range, that is good. Also, this sucker does some nasty AoE when gets close to you, so, try to position you imp as far from you as possible, otherwise he will two-shot him. Don't try to tank him with your VV or felguard - he will slaughter them at once. Keep your instant fears (like Howl of Terror (if you're Affli) and Death Coil for the case he resist you normal fear. Died once, killed him on the second try. Really nice and interesting fight. And yes, affliction is best for this fight. So, if you want to solo him and have some money to respec - go Affli just for this fight at least. It will give you nice health regen during this fight.

Soloed at 53 as a Demonology/Affliction hybrid. Sacrificed a voidwalker to get the health regen, then used Curse of Shadows/Corruption and fear. As angelspire says above, the important thing is to start fearing before the fear breaks. Did it on the first attempt, but it got a bit hairy when he resisted a fear. Used 2 healthstones and a wildvine potion.

Solo'd as lv.51 Affliction Warlock with Imp (Had to re-spec. from my PvP favourite Dest.) Took around 7/8 attempts due to resists. Used 4 bandages and 2 healthstones in the end, Defiler's Talisman also came in handy when fear resisted.

Start with Fear then CoA, then Corruption. Keep fearing at around 50% of duration of current fear just to be sure, plus Dark Pact when needed. I had to spam the instant casts due to resists. If it all goes wrong keep Death Coil at the ready and then spam fear right after that > once you get your distance again check your DoTs and reapply if needed - then check mana, then check distance - just repeat and with a little luck you should be fine.

He had me down to less than 10% health each time I used a bandage. Make sure you bandage immediately after the fear lands, or potion + HS if you panic. :) Don't use mana potions, save potion cooldown for the health potion + HS combo.

Keep your range also (I had my spells down the right actionbar in order to keep track of the red dots) Luckily at 50% he got jammed slightly behind a tree after running up the side wall so distance was easy to track. As long as you keep your distance you won't get beat down, concentrate about landing DoTs after you feel safe enough to fit them in.

Just soloed this as a 53 affliction lock (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/talent=IVMriRfzVtbo0h ) with 240 shadow damage and 3.3k health (with imp out). Took a long time but wasn't at all *hard*. Here's what I did:

As soon as he rose, spam fear. He won't become hostile immediately so keep hitting it till you see it begin to cast. As soon as he begins running get ALL DoTs up, including UA and Siphon Life, and keep them up. Keep fear up, and if he resists it use Death Coil or instant Howl of Terror to give you time to recast. Make sure you keep DoTs reapplied. And do not try drain tanking, as he's just too hard for that.

Didn't have to use any bandages, stones, etc etc for it. After a while my Imp ran out of mana for Dark Pact, but Life Tap + Drain Life was just as easy.

His coords are: 45, 35.

Affliction locks should not have a problem at all. I just used all the DoTs available and he was dead within 4 fears. I kept the void just in case I needed a bubble when a fear resisted but he only hit me for 600 which was easily drained back after I got the fear off.

After I completed this quest Niby summoned something he wanted to be an infernal. What he got was El Pollo Grande, a "Black chicken of death", quoting from it's description. It was a giant chicken that attacked me, only a level 50 so it was nothing serious. That event was actually quite amusing.

I just wanted to say that you're fine doing this quest solo as a demonology warlock as well. I did that at lvl54, sacrificing my Felhunter to get the mana regen buff. Spammed fear, immolate, corruption and curse of agony. He hit me a few times but it wasn't a problem with ~3k hp, I just used a healthstone and drained his life.

Solo'd as lvl 55 5/41/0 Demo lock. ~2500 base health, 3000 buffed with several pots and scrolls (very nice pot from Blood Elf quest givers in Blasted Lands, gives +25 stam for 1hr), ~200 spell dmg (shadow & generic, including Wizard Oil on my sword).

Succubus on passive for MD +10% dmg, Soul Link for 5% dmg and mitigation (she's fragile, but only got down to about 1/2 health). Fear + CoS + Corr + Drain Life, repeat as necessary. CoS instead of CoA to decrease Fear resists and early breaks. Banished and bandaged once, used health stone and one Greater Healing Pot.

I also wonder if it's possible to enslave the elite Infernals walking around the scar, there are some lvl 53 and 54, and use one of them to kill Kroshius, similar to using the ones in Nagrand to solo the group quests there. That was going to be my next strategy if the first didn't work, but didn't get to try it.

As of patch 2.3, this information is now largely irrelevant. However, this tactic, while excessive, still works, so I'll leave it be. Simply know that there are far easier ways to kill Kroshius, like walking up to him and poking him with your dagger. (Okay, so he wasn't nerfed that badly. You get the point.)

Actually, they can, indeed, be enslaved. I just killed Kroshius not 10 minutes ago using one of them.

A couple notes...

You can only enslave demons that are up to 3 levels above you with the rank of Enslave Demon that you have at this level. If you try to enslave one that's too high, it will say "Target Cannot Be Charmed," leading some people to the assumption that they are not enslavable.

Also, I don't recommend trying the following tactic unless you have Improved Enslave Demon. The reduced chance to have your (higher-level) minion break free during the (long) fight and the extra damage to help shorten it make this worlds easier.

Now for the actual battle...

Firstly, the infernals that you enslave are immune to most of Kroshius' damage. This immunity means that Kroshius will not attack the enslaved infernal unless it is the only thing on his aggro list, and therefore that you cannot attack Kroshius or aggro will be lost on the infernal permanently.

Second, Kroshius will aggro directly to you when he is first summoned, so summon him and be ready to run away or die/Soulstone to de-aggro him. Don't worry, he won't despawn for a while. Now, go and enslave your infernal, making sure that it's at least level 53 (the highest that you can summon at level 50) so that Kroshius (55) is yellow to it.

Third, tell your minion to attack Kroshius and sit back and watch the show. They'll go at it for a while, but not so long that the 5-minute timer runs out if your minion is 53 and you have the talent (I haven't tried it with anything less, but I had about a minute to spare at the end). Your minion is immune to most of Kroshius' damage, as I've said, so he can actually solo Kroshius.

Fourth and finally, wait until Kroshius is one hit from death and kill him. I did it with a Death Coil, just in case it took a second hit.

If you are lucky, you can enslave Immolatus, a 56 elite rare spawn that wanders the area. He will take down Kroshius fairly quickly, then you can sic him on an elemental while you loot Kroshius's corpse and high-tail it out of there. Just remember that you have to do at least one point of damage to Kroshius yourself in order to get quest completion.

Would just like to add that he aggros mobs he runs past, when in combat. Had a resist on my curse of recklessness when it was running towards one of those normal elements around there, so my first attempt to solo it at 51 failed. Second didn't cause too much hassle though.

Soloed very easily at 51. I'm demo/affliction specced, but I don't think felguard is neccessary. He is a level 55 non elite, and was not immune to fire, or shadow. Just feared him and sent my felguard onto him immediately as he hostiled. Dot stacked, and then drained to death. No adds, no difficulty. Easiest part of the quest, in my honest opinion.

THIS quest is with out a doubt able to be soloed at 50.
if you are still worried about it.
make you have have lots of soul stones. res him and banish him straight off wait for him to start come out of banish time it right ( its not hard it tell u when hes comming out of banish.) and start casting soul fire. its a 6 second cast so cast it at 5 seconds before he come out of banish.
then u can hit some quick attacks on him don't dot him no use with this tactic. banish him again when he gets to close to u run away from him and repeat till hes dead.

may take longer but this tactic if for the players that may be worried about him killing them.

I soloed this one at lvl 52 as a full affliction warlock! It took me about a minute to kill him! I just summoned him and used fear as soon as he was there! Then all I had to do was use all my dots on him! Except ofc immolate since he is immune to fire! At the same time I had imp out for the stamina buff but all in all it proved unnecessary since by the time the fear effect was over his life was allready at 20% so all I has to do was use death coil and drain life!

I soloed him at lvl 55. Way too easy. By the time I had dotted him up and started draining life, he had about 15% health left. Wish he had still been an elite for a better challenge.

Got a question though. Anybody know what the stats are for the infernal that I can now summon? Char screen doesn't have a pet tab for the infernal. I asked a lvl 70 lock and he said he doesn't really use the infernal. It is more of a 'vanity' or 'novelty' pet than anything else. What say ye?

Also, I was able to summon my mount w/o despawning the infernal. Bug?

Don't leave right after you turn in this quest. There's a nice little surprise for those who hang around for a few seconds...

Sent my void in.. Unstable Affliction > Siphon Life > CoA > Corruption. Got shadow trance, did that, than 1 more SB and dead. Extremely easy.

it was soooo easy. Got soloed by a 50 demo lock. All i did was leave fg on aggresive then corruption and coa fear reapply the dots. Do it 1 more time and a dead kroshius :). Didnt resist any of my spells and has a knockback wich makes you fly-wheee. Good luck. Didnt use any hs or pot.

I did this quest at lvl 57 with a 60 druid and we got stomped at first. He does a kick back that sends you flying. If you get too far away from where he starts out, then he resets.
Finally, I just enslaved Kroshius, and challenged the druid to a duel.
He broke enslavement once, but I was far enough away from him (set him to passive, stay and disable auto kickback) I was able to re-enslave him.
After she beat him for me, she went after me (we were still dueling). I put the smack down :)
And since I was enslaving, I beat her without a pet. I admit that I used a healthstone, but it was still fun.

he's fearable...i solo'd it with my darkpact build and a succubus out...which didn't help much so voidwalker or imp is probably better as the succubus just died early. used healthstone and pot and i think a nightdragon but just kept him dotted and feared...deathcoiled if things looked really bad and feared again.

just keep the dots going and keep it feared..and siphon life helped

With Sakkdaddy's little push in the right direction. I have solo'd the 55elite with my lvl 53 Warlock.

Fearable is the key word.

I just pulled out my imp (pretty much useless against an infernal) NOT to fight... but to provide me with mana using Dark Pact.

What I did.

Preparation:
I had:
I'm all affliction(Dark Pact)
Runecloth Bandages
All Spells are cooled down(Deathcoil)
Life Full
Mana Full
Confidence
I didn't have but could help:
(Healthstone)
(Soulstone) If you die, he gets all health back. But a quick start for a second run.

Attack:
I'm all Affliction so this is how I did it.
1. Use the Flame on him.
2. Back Up and Wait Till he is Fightable
3. Siphon Life
4. Curse of Agony
5. Fear
6. Corruption
7. Immolate
8. Repeat Steps 3-8 when needed.
ONLY when he is too close to cast Fear then cast Death Coil then Fear
While he is Fear'd and Just running, Drain Life.

If he hits you... Fear then Bandages(or Healthstone)
If you are running out of mana... Dark Pact
If you don't have Dark Pact... CAREFUL use of Life Tap

I did that and beat him... and If I can beat him at lvl 53... i'm sure 52-60 can beat him solo.

I'm not sure how he would be to a lvl 50-51 because of all the Resists.

Necrosniper, you used too many words to say too little. For all you smart Affliction Warlocks out there, it goes something like this ...

FORGET about all the bandages & potions & confidence ... just summon a pet & pwn him. You could do it with 5 hitpoints if you want!

I just soloed him at 56 without taking 1 point of damage!

Preparation:
Walking south from Kroshius's body, there's a large tree just to your left against the cliff. Kill everything around it. This tree is your battle zone!

Attack:
1. Cast Curse of Exhaustion
2. Turn around & run towards tree
3. Cast Siphon Life & Corruption
4. Run around the tree
5. Life Tap & Dark Pact as necessary
6. RINSE & REPEAT

If you're not Affliction or don't have CoE, this'll still work (trees hinder NPC movement but not line of sight). You'll simply have to insert Fear, Banish, & Bandage throughout the fight.

It's really that simple!

Followed jbskiotaku's advice; I am now convinced one can theoretically do this quest at level 20. Simply find a big fat tree just south of Krosh's remains and run around it keeping dots on him, you don't even have to run that fast because you might accidently lap him. Don't have to be affliction, just run around with siphon and CoA on him. The only problem might be that the tree is fat enough that you might sometimes be out of range for your spells. It took me a matter of 3 minutes to do it, and only got smacked once because a horde came by and I had to run back to Kroshius.

My 53 lock (demonology/destruction spec) and a 54 warrior duo'd him with no problems. As the other posts suggest, fear, DoT, rinse, repeat. Pet and warrior just ran after him and provided some additional DPS and bought me time to recast fear after it faded. Got hit a couple of times but nothing a healthstone couldn't fix in a hurry. Keep the DoTs on him and he actually goes down pretty quick. Didn't even burn through all my mana. Much easier than expected.

ok KEY WORD: ENSLAVEABLE!
Find a warlock to help that is 54+ and can enslave demons up to 58, or if u have that spell find somebody to attack it for u. When you rezz Kroshius enslave him, then enter a duel, put Kroshius on Passive and work down his health with ease, before he is dead the warlock must release him so he is not a minion but an enemy, then take wat life he has left and loot his core. out of all the times iv killed him this was by far the easiest and funnest. Good Luck!

Did this last night (52, affliction) using the CoEx strategy. Cleared out the area around a nearby tree, before summoning Krosh. Only thing, the mobs respawned while Krosh was about half health...I died. So I scouted out the area and found a safe path to the road. And on the next try, kited Krosh all the way down Felwood. This worked great:

1. No mobs on the road.
2. Added benefit of shocking players as you run by them, lol (Wish I took some screenshots!)
3. Very likely someone will stop and help you along the way, quickening the process - thanks to the 2 hunters (shadow council) who did just that for me :)

Just did this solo at 51.

He hits pretty hard, prepare some major health potions and bandages.

Get away from him at the start then just fear and dot, don't let him get close to you. Recast fear whenever he breaks it. I used an imp as a mana battery (dark pact), so the mana wasn't a problem for me. I've also noticed that he doesn't move as fast as you.

It took me about 3 minutes, but the fight was fun!

After dieing several times trying to solo this quest at 52 I finally found the easiest method to do this.

Get close to his remains (45,35), but don't yet awaken him, spin the camera round so you can watch the pool south of you and wait until you see one of the elite infernals patrolling towards you. (One regularily circles the pool)

Awaken Kroshius and Curse Of Shadows > Enslave him, even with no points in Improved Enslave he'll hold plenty long enough for the next part.

Set him on that elite Infernal that's patrolling and sit back and watch/dance ;)

The elite should be able to solo Kroshy for you.

Let it take him down to minimal health (5% or thereabouts), then it's very important that you release/dismiss him before he dies otherwise you cant loot his corpse for the quest drop.

Using this method when I released him, both he and the infernal he was fighting were down to 200-300 hp, easily dealt with.

PS. For this method I would recommend being at least 52 seen as at lower levels you're likely to not land the enslave for long enough or before he squishes you :)

Unprepared - yes - that is the key.
When you turn in the quest there is a chance that the imp will summon a giant chicken you have to fight.
Doesn't matter - you already have the infernal summon so either way you are good.
But it is basically the ancona chicken on steroids. Same size as a VW, sounds like a freight train and tastes like.... well you get the point

I'm lvl 52, and haven't gotten this quest. I got the quest that starts the series, that when completed, can give the Soul Harvester, and I am wondering if i have to do those quests first then talk to my trainer again for the Inferno quest. ((Also, when you summon an Inferno, or a Doomguard, and die, does the demon dissapear? Or does it stick around killing everything around?)) Ty all.

Killing this guy if you have Demonic Sacrifice is easy as hell. Get Fel Stamina up and begin the event. The first thing you should do is put curse of shadow on him and then fear. Throw up corruption, life tap, fear, drain life, fear, life tap, corruption... Don't life tap more than once and don't waste mana on %^&* like shadowbolts. Make it an endurance fight and you win.

The only thing I used was a healthstone to top my life off near the end. Never needed death coil or pots or band-aids. Demo spec's added utility ftw.

you could kill him easily,if you are Afflection specced,use Curse of Exaustion on him,start running,dump all your DoT on him,after 12 secs use CoE again,repeat teh process.

use your pet to hit him while you are running also DP when it is needed.

Easy soloable as lvl 52, i didn't loose any hp at all!, an almost no mana!

The thing is, it's a warlock thing,
it's called; Enslave Demon!

enslave our dear Kroshius and get him to attack one of the normal flame things that wander around a little south of him, they're imune to fire, so he cant hurt them, (just a little),
when it says 1/100 hp on kroshius, dismiss him, and either 2-3 dots or dd spells should do the job.
If he gets to close, use deathcoil!
you may need to enslave him again when/if you loose him, (but i didn't need to)

And there you go, you get a lvl 52-54 mob to kill a lvl 55 elite for you:]

This is not a challenging quest with even the smallest amount of forethought. Soloed as a 52 Aff. Spec with 2 entropic adds.

Enlsave nearby Infernal Guard; attack Kroshius with aforesaid Guard; chuck a couple of DOTs on him; Curse of Ex. when he breaks aggro; dead Krosh. Easy as pie.

Did this at 51 with a 50 warlock helping. We both did the whole chain starting with the felcloth in a few hours.

Since Kroesus is fearable and banishable, we just kept him dotted up and feared. The 50 lock died at the very end but was able to loot the core and complete the quest.

Advice to anyone who does this:

Bring some infernal stones with you before you go. It's kind of a bummer to get a new spell that you can't use till you find a reagent vendor.

Watch out for Immolatus - a 56 elite infernal that wanders the area. After downing Kroesus relatively easily we tried to take him but not only is he immune to fear he also resiste everything we could dish out.

he pwnd my felguard in about 4 shots,
to about 24 health,
i feared and health funneled,
as soon as fear ran up he came and pwnd the felguard and i didnt bother to get a new one,
i just kept him feared and kept refreshing dots,
eventually i ran out of mana,
so i just ran in circles keeping out of melee reach, keeping curse of agony on him and after like 13 minutes he went down.
im lvl 56.
oh and btw did anyone else see el pollo grande when turning in the quest?
that thing made for a badass screenshot.

forget the enslave method, lvl 54 dotted with corruption, agnoy, and siphon life for healing, then just keep him feared with pet on him, took pretty much all my mana, but with a potion it should be no biggy.

tried the enslave method 4 times before failing everytime, almost got him once, but he broke enslave just before he was dead and killed me :P

hehe, I read about this quest before 2.3, I went to do it. A little lvl55 non-elite was waiting for me. :)
...sadly I asked for help from a lvl59 shaman..when I ignited the mob...hehe..we had to laugh.

So..believe it, its nerfed. Very easy this last part, the part about gathering the stone is another story.

I did this as lvl 54. I had two pala friends with me just for the healing...and yes...there was a lot of healing to do!

First thing is to have plenty of shards with ya, your soulstone and your healthstone. Next: Summon your felhunter and be sure to have fel domination ready for later!
I had the palas to cast bleesing of kings + mana regen on me and blessing of kings + extra-health-while-healing-thingy on felhunter!
Be sure to have a mana potion rdy too btw!

So summon the bastard and start spamming paranoia while placing your dots on him. Cast a shadow bolt once and a while and use shadow burn too!
If u die...rez and cast banish. This grants you time enough to use your mana potion and summon a new felhunter with fel domination.
If Kroshius starts attacking the palas just start spamming shadow bolt (that's what I did).
When he's about to fall use your shadow burn + death coil and that should nail the bastard.

Btw the palas did no damage to Kroshius...they hust healed - I was not sure whatever Kroshius would drop ot not if I had the palas to help with the damage...so I solo damaged him.

and...now that I've tried summon an infernal I can tell u this - at lvl 54 this is a totally suicide spell...but wtf..I got it atleast!

By the way, I was well prepared, I knew what I was doing, my first time attempting it and I also knew I was going to succeed because I have soloed elite mobs 3 lvls higher than me in the past and was confident in the Warlock class in knowing that this mob would be 2 lvls higher and another mildly easy mob. I came fully 1hr buffed with fortitude, int and mark of the wild buffs. Only used 2 Heavy Runecloth Bandages. He actually knocks you back the first hit he gets off you for about 200-400 damage then the next few hits are pretty small damage so in those next few hits I feared him again. I feared him the whole time, you have a WIDE space to work with so no chance of attracting another mob. Used Immolate, no he isnt immune to immolate spell. Used Curse Agony and Corruption spells. Used like 2-3 shadowbolts not many. Used Life Sap on him as well. When he was dotted I would gain distance while he was feared to have enough time to fear him again from afar before he got a hit off of me. Used the Imp demon as a mana bot to sap mana out of it. Nobody was there to help as you can see on the pics no other classes debuffs are listed on the mob or are there extra group dots on radar. And by the way, I didn't enslave the other Inferno to fight against him, just had my Imp for extra mana and didnt let him attack so I did all the damage :) Alexandria on Bloodhoof if anybody has questions, take care

I did this solo at lvl 53. I don't know how, but I did it. I killed him on my second try. I was amazed when I did....

This is what I did, I summoned my FelGuard and had him tank for me while I lit
Kroshius up with dots: Curse of Agony, Corruption and Immolate and feared him. When I noticed my Felguard was almost dead, I feared Kroshius, click on Fel Domination to instant summon another Felguard and dotted him. Sent my Felguard after him again. By this time my mana was low so I used Life Tap. When Kroshius decided to come after me I RAN! You can outrun Kroshius, he is pretty slow! And while he was chasing me my Felguard was doing damge to him. When Kroshius focused his attention back to my Felguard, I dotted him and feared him. My felguard went down twice! At the end Kroshius was chasing me, I had only 2% health, had no dots on him. It was Felguard that saved me because while I was running from him with only 2% health left, my Felguard was hitting him!

I'm a !@#$ty warlock player. Haven't really mastered fear and dots! So if I can do it, anyone can lol!

I just soloed Kroshius as a level 54 afflic lock. I sent my void in to aggro, cast UA, COA, cor, sap life, then i feared pulled back void to heal him, sent him back in, fear, then dot dot dot. Rinse repeat!

It took more time to get all the flawless essences than finishing this quest in Felwood. I am affliction specced and didn't have any problems defeating him. What worked best for me is send in VW, put on syphon life, curse of agony, corruption etc. (all the DoTs). As soon as he comes towards you fear him...redo DoTs if necessary, and fear again etc. Works like a charm. You even have enough time to heal yourself in case he hits you (watch for his knock-backs as they are pretty annoying). His damage is I believe 700HP on a hit.

The infernal is a cool one to have...looks impressive as it is a huge dude...and can tank nicely as well...too bad about the enslaving :-)

SL+shadow spec..

first tried with voidy, got pummeled in a minute.

Then with imp, kept him chain feared and put Curse of Elements on him. let the imp nuke away, and soul fired twice, searing pain, etc.

keeping him feared is key, if he gets on you he will interrupt, i think he has a fire aura.

if he gets too close because you screwed up a fear, Death coil and fear on top of that.

I just did this at level 57, i enslaved a level 53 infernal, made him beat Kroshius down to about 3% HP and finished him with a Death Coil. Got lucky on the enslave i guess.

I tried this at 56, after reading the advice here, and I got worked.

1) I tried enslaving a 52 elite, sent it in to fight and it broke enslavement on me.
2) I tried enslaving a 53 elite ... same thing (didn't even look like either of them were getting hurt by each other) ... they came back on me.
3) I tried it with my succy (figured the imp's firebolts would just be resisted by him since it was fire) ... she dropped in about two hits and I started the fear, dots, deathcoil, banish, bandage, healthstone, etc ... got him to about half health before I ran out of options ... he resisted a fear, then he knocked me back before I could get off the next, then he killed me).
4) I tried enslaving again ... same deal ... broke really early.

I gave up after my pride couldn't take it anymore ... I guess I just suck or I'm not a very good demon enslaver :(

EDIT: OK, I did it this time ... and here is how it worked for me:
1) I used my VW purely for when I needed to get the shield.
2) I did the fear/dot method as explained (only this time it didn't resist me -- so luck helped out).
3) I ran out of mana and I did use my VW shield to buy some time for life-taps and bandaging.

It was still a long, close fight.

Oh yeah, I was all ready for the Giant Chicken fight and it never materialized. He talked about it like it was there, but it never showed up :(

Wasn't easy, but not really hard either.
SL - CoA - Corruption - Soulfire - fear.

While it's feared, keep sending SL, CoA and Corruption towards him.
The nice thing is that he doesn't resist fear too much or breaks free from it.
No other mobs around in the area, so he won't get help.

solo'd at 53

corruption, CoA, fear, rinse, repeat. used two pots, my healthstone, and three bandages. i had my VW out for the shield sac just in case i needed an emergency fear...never used it.

i tried to use one of the 53 elites that wanders around near there, but it broke the enslave really early in my first try and they both came after me. after that i decided to just use my own pets...

I just solo'd Kroshius as a 54 affliction specced lock. I tried three or four times to enslave an infernal sentry but died each time. They would break enslavement during the fight. I would then have a 52 elite and 55 elite both pounding me. Next I tried using the VW and managed to drop Kroshius. I sent the VW in, dropped all DoT's (corruption, immolate, siphon life, and Curse of Agony with first being amped), and spammed fear on him. Only issue I had was in running low on mana. Forunately I was able to life tap enough mana to keep him feared. The good thing (maybe lucky?) was that Kroshius always ran up the hill away from the other mobs. He never ran down the hill where mobs were respawning.

Warning, if he gets close Kroshius hits hard. He easily hits for 650+. Keep him as far from you as possible and you'll be okay.

Enslave him and let him hack it out with one of the locals - the 53 elites work wonderfully. When he starts getting down to around 25% or so, start dumping damage into the opponent.

Once the mob is dead, summon your voidwalker and send it into this guy - have a healthstone and pot on hot keys as it'll take a min for VW to get aggro and this guy hits HARD.

Fear if VW can't get his attention and dump damage into him - should be dead in 30 seconds or less by this point though.

When I did the turn in, I imediately pulled out the spell and tried to cast it (not knowing I needed an infernal stone) so being so focused on what I was doing, I didn't notice that the NPC was also casting the spell, so when this fireball landed on top of me and a giant chicken attacked, I thought that was the spell effect at first - same thing with the priest who was helping - ROTFLMAO - was fantastic, she was hoping that summoning a giant, killer chicken was the actual spell - would be funny if it actually was. O_o

Yeah, to correct the previous comment, my son said that he hadn't got time to use recklessness and also that Crystalforged War Axe was yet without extra +7 damage enchanting. So for his level 70 Tauren Warrior(Darkspear realm, "Grazytauren") this slaughtering of Kroshius was pretty much done with bare feet.. A half of his appr. 10k health was left after battle, though Kroshius hit >500.(He had though bothered to wear his armory, ~6100, stamina ~560, strength ~400, agility ~300, attack power ~1000) BR Schwesterein

This was simple and fast. As a level 53 warlock, 50% affliction and 50% demonology, I used my voidwalker to keep the demon away from me. I used a couple of dot's, immolation and then finished him with a few shadowbolts.

Tried to duo this at lvl 51 with a lvl 53 Shaman. Kroshius hits in the 1k-2k range against us cloth classes. After burning thru the shaman, I was only a few hits away from a dirt nap. Was getting ALOT of resists as well.

So ... might want to bring some friends with a real tank and healer-type or wait a few levels.

Myself (lvl 50 afflic lock), a lvl 50 hunter, and a lvl 55 druid. We basically did what one of the previous posts said...entangle root + dot + nuke. The best part is that is worked extremely well so we didn't wipe once!

Soloed at 54. Was fun. The usual fear-kiting works well. Just be sure to start casting the next fear well before we gets un-feared. Otherwise, he'll knock you back and interrupt your spellcast. You shouldn't let that happen, 'cause he hits real hard.

I didn't try to fight him straight up. I prolly wouldn't have beat him that way, since he could 3-shot me, and I have almost 4k hp with Blood Pact.

Fire Protection pots prolly help.

Other than that pretty easy kill... I had a real hard time with the 2 50 leet dragons in badlands... but this guy was meat..

Ok, as of 2.3 this guy was really easy. I am not sure if they dummied him down like half the game. Affliction lock ftw. Fear kite dead in under a minute.

you can get him again, just abadon the quest, and pick it up again at the imp. He'll give you another felfire too.
I cant really solo it at lvl 58. After i enslave him, and order him to attack the elites there, at about half of his life, the enslave wears off and both ot them attacks and kills me... :(

If it matters I am full Destruction Lock 7/4/32.

Before starting the fight, make sure you have a healthstone, Major healing potions, some mana potions, and runecloth bandages. You don't need all of these but have them handy just incase your fear is resisted several times in a row.

I did not need to enslave one of those sentrys. I simply had my imp out. I started the fight with a fear and then cast all my DOTS and a shadowbolt. Allow the imp to let loose as well.

Just continue to cast fear and DOTs on him. I used my conflagrate and then recast Immolate. Keep an eye on your health and mana because he can hit for over 600 each time. He will knock you back and interupt your spell casting.

My fear was resisted a lot so be prepared to have to cast it again. I even used my Death Coil for a boost in health and a nice instant fear to give me enough time to cast off a regular fear.

Whenever my health and imp's health got low, I banished him and bandaged/life tapped my mana back. Just be ready to fear as soon as he comes out of banish.

I died 1 time trying to get my strategy and timing right, but got him on my second attempt.

Also, you no longer have to abandon the quest to get another Fel Fire. Whenever I died I came back to see him still animated for me to attempt again.

Hope this helps everyone. It was a fun and very exciting fight.

Tough fight for me solo at 54 demo spec. I died the first time because I didnt fear enough. He hits HARD but you can keep him feared the whole fight. It would have been easier if I had potions, I just used a healthstone and heavy rune bandage. Eventually he killed my felguard and I had no mana to summon him again, and not much health. VERY close fight the second time, I was 200hp from dying with no mana.

I guess the quick summary of all these threads is Fear and DoT.
Don't wait for Kroshius to charge you before casting Fear though or his knockbacks will hit you for big damage. He covers a lot of ground in the time it takes to cvast Fear so be ready to cast it before the existing Fear expires.

First, I cleared out the mobs from the foot of the hill as a precaution.

As for pets I tried with my VW but died twice. So I sacrificed my VW, got the shield, enslaved Immmolatus (56 rare demon who wanders around here), and sent him against Kroshius.

Immolatus' hitting power enabled me to have an easier time. He still couldn't hold aggro but it was really the extra DPS I wanted. Bandaged once, healthstoned once but no potions. Just kept an eye on my mana and the duration on the last Fear I'd cast :) In between it was UA, Corruption, CoA and Siphon Life, with two Life Taps in between. I switched to Drain Life when he finally went below 1000.

If you have Death Coil keep it as a backup if Fear is resisted and Kroshius is in your face. The damage and healing is a bonus.

When it was over I sent Immolatus to fight one of the Infernal Bodyguards that wanders around the area and I ran off. I hope he doesn't remember me.

Man, I dont know if those previous posters had a different mob than me, but, man...tooo easy. Disappointing, because I thought I was in for a real battle . No need to fear--simple, straightforward ez kill, with F-Guard. He was lvl 54, non-elite. Chicken was pathetically easy, too--but entertaining! ;)

He is how I soloed Kroshi.

Curse of Shadow + Enslave Demon on him.
Then send him to kill some 53 elite there.
The 53 elite will win.
So just before Kroshi dies, banish the 53 elite.
Then flee with Kroshi on your side to some Area,
where you dont get attacked.
Enslave Demon will break.
Fear Kroshi, nuke him with Shadow Bolts.
Fear him again, nuke him dead.
It was really easy like this.

Well, I consider this quest kind of childrens play - for obvious reasons.
I grouped with lvl 70 Tauren Warrior, and lit Kroshius's remains in fire. Then I
shot my usual dot set at the mob; curse of agony, corruption, immolate,
+ applied Wand of Biting Cold(125 frost)+ Felguard attack..
But then I didn't have time to do any soul fire, or anything more. Kroshius was
dead and Infernal Core was there for me to take. Tauren warrior had killed Kroshius in a couple of seconds with an axe called "Crystalforged War Axe"

Just to clear something up, The mob is a DEMON and wasnt immune to anything I put on him ;) I just did this solo as lock52 first try, wasnt easy but not hard at the same time ^^

Without a doubt, fear and dot works a treat. Fight lasted about 4 mins. Healthstone, health pot (only superior >< how cheap am I?) and 2 normal runecloth bandages used. He resisted fear twice, both times getting me to under 100hp! lol, but i did it ;) As for your pet, VW for shield or if ur dark pact build anything with mana is fine ;p dont even bother setting ur pet on it, DoT and Fear ftw =)

Not that hard for level 51, just died once :/
Grabbed a 53 elite infernal just to be safe about the partial enslave resisting. First time I died because my pet can't hold aggro at all, any little thing you do seems to pull him to you no matter how much damage your pet does. So second try I was able to send the infernal in after him first while staying out of agro range. The 53 elite can kill kroshius alone, but I tried to help out since I didn't want the enslave wearing off. The second I threw out CoA, before it even did damage, kroshius ran after me. Just had to run while applying instant DoTs, then fear and run off the screen. Since my infernal is enslaved and not summoned, I can leave the screen without losing it, and kroshius goes back to fighting it.

Easiness.

Well, I was anticipating the worst, but I got lucky! For the quest leading up to this one, I got the Fel Essence drop from Blasted Lands from the first mob (other posters had to kill 6 or more), then I killed Kroshi by myself on the first try.

Per these posts, I prepared myself with bandages, potions, and healthstone, and I used chain fears and DOTs to take him down. I did not try enslaving another mob because my initial attempt in Blasted Lands didn't work, and I decided to stick with tactics I was more comfortable with. I used my Voidwalker because the suggestion to use it as a shield sounded like a good idea to me. Besides, I almost always use a VW when I'm solo.

I don't know how long the fight took, but it seemed to last forever! I used fear, corruption, amplify curse, curse of agony, siphon life, shadow bolt, drain life, life tap... I kinda cast willy-nilly. Meanwhile, Kroshius randomly flailed around, and I couldn't really tell what was going on. The best I could do was keep myself pointed towards him, watch the countdowns, and cast-cast-cast.

In the end, I using only one mana pot. I had intended to use a healthstone as well because my health had dropped to about half, but I fumbled, then Kroshius died. Manawise I ran on fumes for the end of the fight (thank god for life tap!). I probably should've splurged on a major mana pot instead of the cheezy superior one. Oh well.

My suggestion would be to keep a very close eye on your fear countdown -- when it gets to about :05, fear again. Don't wait too much longer or you won't have time to cast. If your fears aren't resisted, you should be fine. The DOTs are slow, but they do work. Not that I was confident of that fact going into the fight, but hey, it worked for me!

I soloed this at lvl 50. I had 5 points in supression, +175 to shadow damage, crit soulfired him for 1388, then feared and dotted him until he died. Took about two minutes to finally down him. He got in one hit for 638, and the time when he fell was my third attempt. He is really hard for lvl 50, but I agree with the earlier post

Honestly I thought the felguards around the dark portal for the pre-Q were harder.

All in all, not an easy battle, but I almost died laughing when the chicken got summoned and Impsy called Nilby stupid!

i had a help of 60hunter and tried killing him, but wiped 4 times in a row, and eventually he despawned, does this mean i can't get him again?

After having gathered all the Fel Essences I was level 53. When I was looking for the remains I met another level 52 warlock, and we tried to beat him togehter.

The first 3 attempts failed miserably - we did not even get him to 50% health. Then we found a succesful strategy.

We moved a bit away from each other. Cast all our DoTs and took turns casting fear on him. He was running in fear through most of the fight. Whenever he was at safe distance we used shadowballs. When the DoTs wore off we recast them.

I needed a healing potion and also used runecloth bandages during the fight, but we both made it - and both got the drop (luckily we did not have to kill him twice :)

Nasty bugger... tried the first time as lvl 52 and then as lvl 53, died about 6 times. till i got some help from a lvl 60 ice mage...

So our main weapon was keeping him feared and out of our hair, and cold cos man he hits hard...

I ran this solo having just hit 55. I did not enclave anything since I figured it would be too easy to break. Used the voidwalker in case I needed to sacrifice (which I didn't).

Basically I kept fear on him while hitting amp curse, CoA, corruption and Siphon Life. Rinse and repeat. He never got close enough to hit me, and as my VW was on passive fear never got broken. I didn't try shadow bolt or soulfire for much the same reason. It took a while, I had to tap and bandage once to get some mana back. Finished him off with a death coil just for laughs.

Overall this was significantly easier than I thought it would be. The trick was mostly just keeping the fear on, watching the timers on that and my DoTs and letting him wither away.

Well I finally dropped him after several failed attempts. I am a 53 Lock fully Demon specced. I tried the various methods listed here, 1. enslaving the Immolatus (it broke early), 2. enslaving Kroshius (it broke early), and a couple attempts of fear kiting. I was unlucky my first attempt at fear kiting as he resisted my Death Coil and then resisted my Banish after which he hit my for 600+ twice and one hit for 1000. My second attempt of fear kiting with my Felguard worked although when it was all done the Felguard had less than 200 hp and I had less that 500 hp. I used Banish to bandage the pet and myself and a mana potion.

Got him first time! Teamed up with another lock, both of us level 51. Fear is the key! Keep him feared with felguard choping away and throw on the dots. Giant chicken is fun too after you hand in the quest. Honestly I thought the felguards around the dark portal for the pre-Q were harder.

When I did the quest ages past, I don't ever recall being able to fear him. In fact I'm pretty sure he was immune at the time... Oh well. One more way to make locks require no skill. I miss those days...

soloed at lvl54. the posts about needing help are cowards. if you are 54+, you can easily solo him. just grab elite inferno like other post says. i did it, and he was a joke. after you have your elite inferno, go to remains and revive him. send inferno in so you arent one being hit, then curse of shadow+fear. dot him up and fear kite him to death. if you are lucky, you won't even get scratched. leave inferno on stay and run back for turn in after.(the %^&* blue item on turn in sells for 4g too, so 4g+pet, real pay off)

I (lvl 54) had a lvl 60 Rogue with me while I was running around Felwood and decided to do this quest. It was spur of the moment so nether of us was especially prepared to do Elite combat. We got Kroshius on the first try. Neither of us wiped. The rogue was up front with my VW and I was standing back dotting and shadowbolting Kroshius. I didn't use Fear or Banish. We just wacked at him until he died.

I didn't lose any HP at all, but there was a tense moment for the rogue near the end of the fight. He used the Healthstone I gave him and Kroshius died before he got in trouble again. The fight wasn't pretty, and if I had to do it again, I'd be a little more strategic about spells and be overall less complacent going into it. (It's so easy to get complacent when traveling with a lvl 60 rogue.)

And yes, we had to fight the giant chicken when I turned in the quest.

Boy this is a pain. Very tempted to just tough it out with VW or somethin, but it is fun. Nearly had Kroshius down to the last breath of life and I got ganked. Boy - was that dude surprised when I set Kroschius on him. Killed the ally (55 HK Seargeant or something I think) in a heartbeat. Doh't think he knew what hit him. Then Kroshius died - and I died when the other elite came for me. One thing I thought was useful was just clearing all the Lvl 50/51 elementals out of the way. When you're trying to have Kroshius hit on one the elites, there's nothing more annoying than having one of those pesky elementals buggin ya. Only takes a couple of minutes to clear the field for the final showdown. Anyway - back to it. Hopefully next time.

At level 53, I just used all the dots and fears and kept him going round and round. I got hit a few times but had so much time while he was running around that I used bandages and kept the healthstone & pot as "just in case"; didn't need them.

When you reanimate Kroshius, he pops up but is green for .... I don't know like 5 seconds or so; you have plenty of time to be out of the immediate vicinity. If I'd known how long it would be, I would've opened with a Soul Fire (you can start the cast while he's green I think), but regardless at this level you don't need a group, and there aren't any other mobs around who'll aggro on you while you're killing him.

Strangely enough, I find the other elite demon infernals there to be immune to fear. That, of course, was found out the hard way...

I did this quest yesterday and I had a lvl 60 rogue with meand we got wiped on the first try. The second time though i gave the rogue a healthstone and made on myself then i just started wailing onthe guy with shadow bolts he died after he got to me and hit me once or twice but that was about it. Tried to use the immolate spell on him but he is immune to them since he is a fire elemental.

MAYBE that crap about enslaving Kroshius worked along time ago, but it doesn't anymore. You can kill him that way but he you don't get a drop or any xp. I think Blizzard must have changed something in one of the recent patches. You CAN enlave a 53 or 54 elite to help you but you will still need some friends to help as any dmg you do to Kroshius will most likely draw the agro away from your enslaved infernal just bring a couple peeps with you and it's pretty easy.

Done at 52lev. What's strange? I'm an undead Warlock and it's a PVP Server, we spoke through emotes with a 57 mage alliance on Darsorrow that decided to help me. ^^

This one is a piece of cake (or pie?) for a 53 dark pact lock :D

I used imp on passive for the healthboost,while also being well fed (4000 hp total)
Then it was just fear-dot fear-dot,with the occasional dark pact for mana,avoiding life tap alltogether :D

I could even take a couple of hits from him with no fear of dying,so all in all a perfect quest for me :D

El Pollo Grande kinda scared me though...laughed so hard i forgot to fight :D

I was able to enslave Kroshius without a problem. What a hoot - a gnome with this giant minion! I took him out to do battle with other creature until his health was just a sliver. I dismissed him... and he and the creatures he was fighting all came after me. They took me out before I could kill Kroshius - just a sliver is still a lot of health. I think this is possible but it will be tricky.

Another thing I tried was to enslave one of the elite 53 infernal bodyguards wandering around. I find it strange that Kroshius remained my minion for several minutes. I never got one of those bodyguards to remain under my control for a full minute. What's the deal? Elite 53 more difficult to enslave and keep dominated than an elite 55? Oh well... Going back for more today.

Level 51 aff. soloed this without any problems. VW sent in, dot, drain life, death coil failed, feared him only once then dot and drain life. A couple shadow bolts. Shadowburn then drain soul to finish him. VW held aggro well after fear. One of the easiest battles I've had in a while. Finished with over half hp and mana.

I tried the solo method of psychozapp, managed to kill the boss but didn't get the core so I had to redo the final quest. I called in a few guildmates and between the 3 of us (55 warlock, 60 hunter, 60 mage) we quickly killed him, but he did do a lot of damage to all of us before he died. So it doesn't matter at all who is damaging him.
BTW it is SOOOOOO worth it. The mage in our group decided to duel me after I summoned the inferno. The level 60 mage sheeped me and the inferno crushed him, it was basically immune to all his fire spells.

Soloed at 56. CoS + Enslave Demon on a random 53 infernal, then sent it in, DoTed, and Feared when I got aggro (which was a lot). The infernal took the knockback most of the time because I was too far away, and I managed to avoid getting any critical hits. Luck had too much to do with it for my tastes, though; it would've been nasty if the fight had lasted longer than five minutes.

For reference, I am Dark Pact specced with a little destruction, if that matters. First I made sure to have my SS and healthstone ready. I had my VW out, sacced him for the shield, and then CoS/Enslave on a level 54 elite infernal. Reanimated Kroshius and let the infernal take him on. Dotted Kroshius with an amplified CoA, Corruption, and Siphon Life. RAN LIKE HELL while the infernal took him on. When he got close, I feared. Shadowbolted from maximum range. Death Coiled from maximum range as well. I cast fear three times, and also replaced all my dots on Kroshius three times as well. Luckily I had no resists on any of my spells. Also, I got hit by the knockback twice, doing about 600-700 damage, but I didn't have to pop the healthstone or bandage. Once dead, I looted his body very quickly, put the infernal on stay, and bolted the hell out of there. When I went back to Niby to turn in the quest he didn't summon the chicken though. :(

Just soloed as a 53 with a destro build. Basically, sent in voidwalker to deal some damage. Threw all the usual dots (CoA, corruption, immolate...yes he isn't immune to fire dmg). Afterwards, just threw shadowbolts at him. When he got close, I feared and continued with the bolts. Conflag-ed, threw the DoTs again and repeated the process. Fortunately, I was able to Fear him 3 times during the battle.

I just soloed this, (lvl 51 aff), no problems.
Curse of shadows, keep 2 or 3 dots up while you spam that fear button and all will go just fine. i advise againt enslaving another infernal to fight for you, they break chains quick. anyways, it's easy enough to do without a demon summoned even, that's the way i rolled. fun fun, enjoy

Maybe even lower depending on your skill-set. Currently 56 with about 4k hps, I solo'd this guy. Sure he hit me for 500+ but I survived. Here's how...

Find Kroshius first. Like it says above, he's north of all the craters to the east a bit. Now sit at the bottom of the hill and wait for an Infernal Sentry to walk by. Let him get max range on ya and cast Curse of Shadows on him, then immediately Enslave the infernal. Now run up the hill to Kroshius, wake him with the Fel Fire, run back a bit and send pet in quickly. Now FEAR Kroshius then dot him up; Agony,Immolate,Corruption and Siphon Life. Watch closely, when Fear breaks, re-Fear. Heavy Rune Bandage yourself if need-be, then re-dot. Rinse and repeat until Kroshius dies. Loot him quickly. PET STAY the infernal, jump on horse and ride back to Niby. That punk will summon a giant chicken on you so make sure you have enough resources to take him out, easy... Kiss arse Warlocks!

Just tried to do this quest with my 53 Warlock and a buddy with a 54 Shaman. We tried enslaving another infernal to help and that made things worse, we got owned every way we tried. Enslaving something even the same level as yourself won't hold long enough to kill this guy. Finally asked for help, got a 60 priest, 51 warrior and 50ish mage. Quest was total cake after that, didnt even take a minute to kill.

Another tactic that works is to enslave one of the other infernals wandering around the area and have it fight Kroshius (the Infernal Bodyguard is best). Be sure to put curse of shadow on the infernal before you enslave, and be very careful not to pull aggro off the enslaved infernal (it takes very little damage to do this). Amazingly, the enslaved infernals are immune to much of Kroshius' attacks and can bring him down pretty efficiently.

Keep it feared and just widdling it down with DoTs works perfectly fine no matter your spec. His body is up at roughly 45, 35.

Easy soloed at level 52, just feared and dotted. Don't chase him, let him run back then fear again and refresh dots.

He will sometimes knock you up in the air doing a decent amount of damage then start attacking your pet, just fear him again and heal up if you need while he runs off.

Slow and steady, just let mana regen and dots do their thing.

Found his remains at 45 35.

He has about 15,000 HP and even at level 60 he will smack you and your VW down before you can kill it unless you use CC. I went the route of casting Doom on him, followed by a Rank 2 then Rank 1 Banish followed up by a fear for the tick, then rinse and repeat. Spam fearing also works, I just didn't want to deal with him running around constantly.

I died and he despawned. The fel fire is now not in my bags. What do I do? Can I get the fel fire again or do I have to abandon and redo the last quest to get the fel fire all over again?

Fairly easy at 56. Voidwalker - When almost dead at the beginning, sacrifice/fear/summon. Greater Healthstone/Major Healing Potion (For mana). Fear/Curse of Agony/Corruption/Shadow Bolt. Rinse and repeat.

He's no longer elite. He was a lvl 55 normal demon with 3268 HP. As a 54 lock, I put my VW on him, dotted him all up, feared once, and he was dead.

Careful, when you're dead, you'll be attacked by... you'll see.

In SOD, he is a 55 Elite. Obviously cannot be solo'd during Phase 3.

Kroshius' Infernal Core

Search Shatter Scar Vale in Felwood for the remains of Kroshius. When you locate the remains, use the Fel Fire near them and await Kroshius' return. When the infernal has awoken, slay him and take from his corpse Kroshius' Infernal Core.

Return Kroshius' Infernal Core to Niby the Almighty in Felwood.
