possible as a 53 'lock. just let ranshalla take the initial aggro as stated previously, then send in void. also, have some potions handy as you'll burn through your mana re-casting resisted spells on the 58s. one at a time they're no big deal.

At around 56-57, you start running out of quests to do before hitting Outland content; most of them require you to run back and forth across the world a lot.

This one is probably one of the easier quests around that level range; you start at the house near the dock in the village by the Darnassus portal, you go to Winterspring and pick up ten easy-to-get feathers anywhere in the zone, you go back to the village, then back to Winterspring for an escort quest where there are no random spawns and you fight one mob at a time, then go back to the village again, and into Darnassus to finish.

While doing this escort, like an above poster mentioned, do the Enraged Wildkin quest chain that starts in Starfall Village. To the west of this escort quest, there's a camp with two objects to pick up, and you don't have to kill more than two or three oomkins to get them, then you just kill the oomkins that you were going to kill anyway while doing this escort for the amulet.

Total exp:

5650 for the feathers
3000 for finding the escort
4800 for finishing the escort
6000 for finishing the chain

This may take your health down some so when whe is channeling at the torches she will continue to until u right-click it. This is a good time to eat/drink.

I dont know if this has already been mentioned, but i have two tips on completing this without trouble :D

- Let Ranshalla get aggroed and tag the mobs, if you aggro the she will just keep walking.
The other tip is that when she is channeling and you are supposed to light the torches, you can take a break to eat and drink. I completed this with a lvl 55 warlock.

If you aggro the wildkins(like any other mob on an escort quest) while standing close to her, she will get in combat as well and run over to beat on it. There's no need to wait for her to attack it, so ranged can just start nuking while making sure to stand next to her.

Finally, after all of this time using thott I can actually post something constructive for future generations.

It's a rather simple escort quest: you go to five caves and light five torches (you must right click the torch to light it) and then to an alter where you get a nice light show followed by the reward detailed above.

Nice and easy.

I reccomend doing this with the Enraged Wildkin quest line (specifically part 3: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=4864/enraged-wildkin). You have to kill the same wilkdin in both.

Where do you find the guy to get the quest?

On the surface this can appear quite daunting but theres an easy way round it for the right classes...

To start with she can be found by simply riding the road to south and looking to the left side of the road when you reach the "owl wing thicket".

Now she just walks to each cave in turn ignoring the beasts, but, if you let her get attacked first (shock horror!) then she will fight back and you can then take the aggro off her and she'll help you fight the target. Also you can heal and buff her so dont forget to use this.

Make sure you get her to help as much as you can, it slows her up and makes things easier on you.

Also note her threat area is quite small so stay back and let her lead to ensure you dont pull first.

If you do by accident, dont panic, she's quite tough and can take a good few hits herself before you need to step in.

Soloed at 56 druid without one potion.

I just tried to do this. Everything was working fine and I made it to the last torch. Then she just vanished right after we killed an owlbeast. She had full health. I have no idea why she vanished? I was standing about 3 feet away from her!

Very easy solo, just have her attack first and you'll not fight more than one wildkin at a time. And you finally get to see why the wildkin are here!

I talked to Ranshalla and she said "I'm getting ready to travel up the ridge... etc. Would you like to come with me?" The only options I can choose from is 'Goodbye' and no accept, i have the quest and all. I just can't do it.

first off its a lil bugged, an owl would just follow her but not attack her and she wouldnt attack it until it used moonfire, so i ended up battled 2-3 at a time. Still woulda been an easy quest if horde rogues wern't such pricks ganked me in the middle of a fight after i let 3 torches, prob watched me light a few and just wanted to wait a bit

This quest give you 150 rep with Darnassus. I am lvl 60 and don't feel like doing the math to convert to XP but it gives you 2 Gold 88 Silver.

Turning this in also opens up the quest Wildkin of Elune

I have just completed this quest, as a level 54 Warlock. It is relatively simple; the NPC that you "escort" can take care of herself.
However, make sure that you let her lead the way. If you aggro, she will not come to your aid; if the monster aggros on her, however, she will fight it.
The enemy monster will always have an advantage on her; make sure that you either heal her or get a hit or two in for yourself.

Just solo'ed this as a 54 NE Hunter. As has been said before, let here lead the way and let her take the aggro. She is a level 58. Every Owlkin in her path, maybe due to the fact that I am only a 54, aggroed on her. They were easy to take down, but in the 2nd and 5th cave the Owlkin was a level 60. Be careful and patient and you should be able to complete the quest.

easy escort quest, also pretty boring - literally took me 15 mins just following her to get to an altar I could've run to in 40 sec. lvl 56-59 wildkin all over the place but spaced out

let her tank and take the initial aggro. that's what she gets for walking so slow. plus she's selfish so if you take initial aggro, she won't help you out. she has a lot of hp, unfortunately her dmg sucks so its hard for her to maintain aggro

at the altar, you get a little lore event that shows you the origin of the owlkin, which was kinda cool.

thank god I didn't have to escort her back down.

Im a level 52 trying to do this quest. But I died once. now when I talk to Ranshalla and she said "I'm getting ready to travel up the ridge... etc. Would you like to come with me?" I don't know if this was supposed to happen, but the elf chick seemed to keep 100% health no matter how much she fought. As plenty of others mention, she will not stop to help you if you get attacked, nor even wait for you - she'll go right ahead and aggro another while you're busy fighting on your own. Hanging back is a risky trick, because random Wildikin may get close enough to get aggroed - my advice is, keep a very sharp lookout at all times.
Once you light the torch, she will not waste any time. I found that I could eat and recover health BEFORE lighting the torches for her. She apparently was quite patient about chanting spells for a long time, irrespective of what I was doing. I even mined some thorium one time - lol!

All I did was let her aggro the mobs cuz if u aggro them she just ignores the mob and lets u fight it on ur own. Then as a warrior I just sat back and occasionally loosed an arrow to help with dps seeing as how her's sucks. This didnt create any aggro whatsoever so i was able to do the whole quest without a scratch

Easy quest, soloed it at lvl 57. like mentioned in the other post let her lead so she aggroes because she wont stop unless she herself gets attacked! dont worry about her health, it bumps back up to full after every fight.

Another tip: If you are running low on health/mana eat/drink BEFORE lightinng the torches and moving on to the next one. As far as I can tell she will wait for you.

I found that when there's only 1 mob you're fighting, then just auto-attack and she'll hold aggro while you slowly kill it. Afterwords she'll pop back up to 100% health. It may take longer but you can spend your time doing other things such as telling other ppl how you did it on thottbot.

You can heal the person you get the quest from, thats how i beat this.
I let her and my yeti do the damage and i healed only intervening when it was almost dead.
Finished it as a level 54 druid.

I think the best way to do this quest is do the Are we there yeti quest and that way you can have a guardian with u then make sure she gets some targets so u wont have to worry about her going ahead

Uh, just so you know, the quest giver for this Aggros....

So yeah, of course I killed her. Ain't going to waste a vanish when I can just kill her.

Also, the horde has a quest in the same area to kill moontouched owlbeasts, so that Tauren wasn't just griefing you.

ok have read all these post but still does not work for me. I have tried 7 times with no luck. GM sas its working but ill be dammed if i can do it. One thing i have noticed is that in at least one cave she does not tell you to lite it, just starts chanting, Its a differnt cave each time and im wondering if that may be the bug?

Soloed this easy as a 54 pally. just let her walk a good distance ahead of me, so she gets the aggro and thus helps to fight the mobs. 6000 exp at lvl 54 =))

The trick to this quest is to stay really close to your NPC and wait for creatures to attack your NPC. Unlike other escorts, she will not help you if you are attacked first...she keeps walking. Thus, try to stay out of aggro range and wait for the creatures to attack the NPC, then go in and save the day.

Solo'd this as a 56 Rogue (Elixir of Brute Force). Once in the caves, you have time to bandage and eat, she will stand there doing her chant...the torches are lite by you, so you can take this time to recover and recharge. Once you light the torch, she moves on to the next cave...so be careful and do your recharge before lighting the torches.

Don't make the mistake of trying to clear the path before you accept the quest, these guys respawn pretty quick and they will respawn at higher levels. The creatures range from lvl 57-59.

If you aggro the Wildkin the npc WILL help you now. Just completed not 20min ago and I beat everything down before she was in range of them. I would bring them back to her and she helped every time.

I soloed this with my 55 Paladin and found as others that you have to give her a large lead so that she aggros otherwise she just leaves you behind to fight alone. She did wait long enough for me to kill one in a cave alone and then light the torch. It took a while but the quest didn't fail. Easily took two on at a time without her getting killed. Heal fast. She doesn't wait.

I have attempted this quest 5 times and 4 of those times failed. First time was with a party, and although I wasn't on the quest, they completed it ok. Second time with a different party, did the same routine but the altar wouldn't light. Third and Fourth time with a different party again, altar wouldn't light. Fifth time solo, same bug!

Sent a ticket to GM and got a response like this: The quest is working as intended, is there anything else I can help you with? And then got the short sharp shift from some cold robotic moron. Wtf is going on?

As previously posted, vital to let Ranshalla walk ahead of you and draw aggro. I made sure I had several health potions and bandages, and walked behind her stealthed.

When a mob attacked, I'd let Ranshalla hit them for 10-15% damage while I sneaked behind. Then Cheap Shot, Back Stab, or whatever else dealt massive DPS.

When Ranshalla continued on, I'd bandage and catch up. I may have had to use one health potion when the gap between mobs was short and taking 8 seconds to bandage would have been too long.

Nice animation at the end when Ranshalla goes to the altar.

I just completed it today. the fires will go out of the torches after a short while.

when you come to the altar to click it some spirits will appear and tell you the whole story. then you just need to go and see the guy in Rutheran village again.

I did this quest today as a lvl 56 warlock (solo). I failed the first time because the chick didn't help me in the fights, she just kept on walking (so she either died or I wasn't there to help her light the torch) which was a nasty surprise to me.

This is different from most escort quests that I have done that whenever you get hit the person you are escorting will help you out. You can either clear most of the owlbeasts before starting the quest, or let her walk well in front of you so she gets all the aggro. She will then stop to fight and you can on your leisure dispose of the beasts.

In each cave and at the altar you will need to help - to be safe (in case of some lag) I waited about 3 to 4 seconds before helping after she started the spell. This did the trick and I had no problems at the altar and in completing the quest.

My friend (hunter NE 54) and i (druid NE 54) tryed this quest last night, we're on a PvE server. We failed the quest the first time (got the the altar, had the gold wheel thingny but couldnt click at the altar) so decided to try a 2nd time. A tauren hunter 60 (leving his pet/farming?)was killing some of the owlbeast around, we didnt pay attention really.
Then we entered the first cave and bam he sets his pet on the npc....of course she's not PvP so he doesnt flag and laughs at us. Then we try a 2nd time, same story again. My friend gets sick of this, flags up so the tauren do the same and we kill him. he comes back for more and we kill him again. of course he was probably waiting around the corner just to kill us so we gave up -_-
They need to put this NPC PvP or neutral so no one can kill it really sucked ; ; i dont care about killing guards but quest givers... of course calling GM for such things is...useless.../sigh

I failed the 1st time I did this quest as others have posted as well.

I found out, that you can not have anyone in your party (including yourself) click on the Torches before the NPC starts to cast her spell for a specific torch. Clicking the torches before it's time on each one, somehow activates the altar's "cog wheel" and makes it not work when you actually need to click it.

You will know something is wrong if you have the cog wheel on mouse over of the altar before you actually get to it and she starts doing her encantation.

It is vital that you let Ranshalla get aggro first. When I started the quest, I attacked the first mob that was going to attack her first. Ranshalla just kept walking until she was attacked herself, which created a bit of chaos.

Just follow her, and if necessary stay a bit behind until the mob attacks the npc first.

It's a very easy quest really, there should never be more than one mob attacking at a time, it just takes time to light all five lanterns and then the explanation at the altar itself.

I soloed this with at 56 as a Paladin spec'd in protection, pretty easy XP, give her a good 50 yard lead so she pulls the aggro, she wont help you if you pull aggro.

Realizing that all is fair on a PVP server, this 60 horde hunter Amishanda is either a tremendous a**hat or needs to be praised for his ruthlessness. I'm doing this quest while he's hunting wildkin around me and he leaves me alone. I throw him the traditional /salute, etc. Right at the end of the quest when we're talking to the priestesses, he ganks the NPC, causing me to fail the quest.

The other night I (57 mage) did this with a 54 druid friend, but what surprised me was how far back we had to stay from Ranshalla. The first try we followed at maybe 5-10 yards, but every time Ranshalla drew aggro, the wildkin went right through her and aggro'd the druid. It didn't go well, the druid died, and I escaped to the road with only 5% health remaining. While I was healing up, I got the message that the quest had failed, so this one is not like the standard escort quests. Most likely what happened is that Ranshalla went to the next torch and casted her strange spell, but neither of us were there to click on the torch so it did not light. So very likely that's what failed the quest and not too much distance which normally causes escort quests to fail. The next time we tried it we both kept back from Ranshalla at the limit of my casting range and that worked very well - Ranshalla became the tank and we just nuked any wildkin that wanted to fight. Another note - only one party member needs to light the torch for everyone to keep advancing the quest, so if you bring a group, select one to go with Ranshalla, everyone else can just kill the wildkin to keep the area clear. The ending animation for this quest is very cool and something that I wish WoW had more of. FFXI was full of great cutscenes like this and something that I've missed since departing from that game. Maybe BC will bring more of these kinds of animations, but who knows ...

I have noticed in many of these posts that there are some having problems with Horde killing your Npc, easiest solution to this if you have the problem or fear of this happening is to get some friends (decently high level of course) and have them tag along if a Horde attacks he/she/them will become pvp'd, at that time have the rest of your friends lead a full on assault upon the disrespectful horde and kill them while you continue on with your quest, keep in mind that not all horde are like this and it is a challenge to any character's battle ready ability to attack a npc of adequate level for them to defeat, horde especialy more the alliance I have noticed run around pvp'd more often then not and challenge at every given opportunity, in stead of being upset at a loss or failure aquire the help of friends or pvp ready alliance members if possible to aid you in this outting. Maybe this will help and maybe not, but it is a possible solution to a Horde pvp ruining your quest.

54 arms spec'd warrior solo'd after reading these notes. 7200 for killing guardians, 4800 for turn-in at Rut'theran village, then another 6000 to take word to arch druid in darnassus just up the hill. Nice bow reward, but BOP, had to vend for 2.73G :)
Definately hang back and let Ranshalla get a few hits in before joining in. Had to fight mostly 57's, a few 58's and at least one 59, all non-elite. She aggro'd 2 57s once, all other fights were single. Nice rep boost twice.

Let her aggro/run into mobs or she won't help and continue on her merry way.
I didn't and ended up having to fight two owls on my own with my pet dying to the second. I let her happily channel at a torch for just over two minutes (orange strange spell text to /s we need to go) and had no problems with continuing.

easy solo with 56 rogue. Just let her go in front and tank stuff so you only have to fight one at a time.

I have quite a few problems with this quest which cause me to really dislike it. Firstly, it's a long escort quest (as many are in vanilla) but this one is so long that, thanks to the dynamic spawning in Classic, you'll likely be dealing with respawns. Secondly, as it's in Winterspring if you're on a PvP server you are highly likely to get ganked by a thorium farmer and waste up to ~10 minutes of escorting. Thirdly, the NPC's aggro range is minimal and means she ends up walking past mobs that a non-stealth class needs to kill. Further, the NPC dies very easily.

All in all, a terrible quest but the end-quest gives 100 Alliance reputation so is a must-do for anyone who wants a different faction mount. I am very thankful that a non-hostile Undead was farming the moonkin when I did this quest on my second character.

Unlike a lot of escorts, she is quite capable and can nearly dispatch even the highest level Owlbeasts without any help. It's possible to let her tank and do just the bare minimum amount of damage to not pull off her. She heals up full within 5 seconds after combat anyways. You shouldn't ever have to attack more than one enemy at a time.

Make sure to let her pull and don't start attacking before she's gotten at least 5 or 6 hits in, depending on how much threat your class pulls.

Did this easily on a level 54 feral Druid.

So incredibly easy -- she's not going to die and she can handle the single mobs you're gonna pull.

At the end when you loot the alter it takes just under 2.5 minutes for the entire event to play out. So you just gotta stand and wait

Make sure to click the wooden torch, right after she emotes " Ranshalla begins chanting a strange spell..."
That is how you will continue the quest to the next points.

If you wait too long, she will say, "Too much time has past. We must try again later." and the quest will fail.

Descrizione

At the very top of the ridge lies what I believe to be an altar of the goddess Elune. From what I can tell, we need to light the five torches in each cave, and then we will be able to access the altar directly.

I transcribed some incantations carved into the stone in the ancient ruins of Kel'Theril, which I believe are the secret to unlocking the altar. I'll need your help to light each torch, while I recite the spell.

If we are successful, you'll be able to report our findings to Erelas!
