In the middle of the Barrens, you should come to a fork in the road with Camp Taurajo to the west of you. There looks to be a small wooden tee-pee looking camp directly east of you. Go past that & through the dinosaurs. There are 2 white tents in the distance. Talk to Takar the Seer

It's a bit tough if your on a pvp server. If so I suggest going along the mountains. there are paths at the top with minimal creatures and you can't be spotted from the road.

I take the longer route but you are less likely to die........If from wetlands you go to Auberdine (remember to get the flight path. Then head south and follow rd to Ashenvale and Astranaar (again get flight path) then head south(east) and when the road branches go right which continues south when you come to the barrens (very obvious the scenary turns brown go left there is an unmanned little sneak entrance there then folow the path down (avoiding towns!) also if you think about it you may want to remember to go to Ratchet on your way down and grap that flight path as this is useful later and will save you the walking!

A real pain. I am only level 21 so I have to walk the whole way! (after flying to Menethil Harbor and sailing to Kalimdor).
The nice thing is that there are barely any hostiles (at least on the Dalaran realm) on the way to camp.

This is what worked for me: Go to Westfall, head out to the coast near the Lighthouse (to the southwest) and swim to Booty Bay using your Unending Breath. The coords. for Booty Bay are 26.75. Stay away from the coast so you don't aggro any of the land creatures (they are fast and will swim out to attack you). There weren't any aggro sea creatures that I could see. Once at Booty Bay, get the FP, take the ship to Ratchet, get the FP there, and take the road out of Ratchet west, but avoid getting too close to Crossroads (you can cut across to the road heading south). Then, head south on the road to coord. 49.57. At level 20, I stayed away from any buildings I could see from the road, and didn't run into any guards. When you get close to the coords you should be able to see the tent Takar is in front of. Then, you can reverse back to Ratchet or hearth out.

Hm, I'm doing this quest as i write... I've got one idea that i'm going to try out. I'm playing on PVP server and normaly i died... And the thing is 2 horde chars were camping on my corpse. And i was tired of waiting them to go, so i released my spirit and started walking toward Barrens :) . I think you get my idea now ;)

EDIT: Dont try this... Just ressed at spirit healer near the location, and it tp-ed me back to ashenwale (the place i died)...
EDIT2: Did other path thats pretty safe with warlock. You can do this quest without dieing (even on PVP realm). I went over stonetalon mountains. (Darkshore=>Ashenwale=>Stonetalon M.=>Barrens)

Its better to go through ashenvale from Darkshore because you need to go to ashenvale for the next quest and you will already have the flight point.

So many people make this out to be harder than it is. I took the boat to Theramore. From there I ran to the Barrens. I cannot emphasize enough sticking precisely to the roads. I did aggro four mobs along the way. But I made sure my armor was all repaired. And I summoned my Voidwalker and put him on defensive. When a mob aggrod, I took the first hit, and the voidwalker immediately taunted the aggro off. I never stopped running. After I got a little ways away (far enough that the mob couldn't catch up, but still close enough that my pet didn't de-spawn) I put myself on autorun and put the pet on passive. He would then start running to catch up with me. Eventually he outran the mob and it dropped off. I never needed to stop and never did a single corpserun.

the easy route that i took was from the wetlands took the boat to darkshore but jump out when the other continant loads then swim to the south edge of darkshore and follow the road to ashenvale,go itno astranaar and get fp and set your hearth at the inn there, then go east out of astranaar on the road follow signs to barrens,once you are in the barrens start to climb on top of the hills there and continue south it will be a little more than half way down the map on the right hand side,or 49,57 for those with co ord. the hills you are on will allow you to take a downward slope to this area.you will avoid mobs and horde this way.after turning in the quest hearth to astranaar and there you go half the walk time. then just remeber to set your hearth back to were you want it =)

No real problems from Astranaar, ran into a couple of players, but I'm on a PvE server, so all's cool.

Definitely get the flight plan from Ratchet. On Blizzard's atlas it doesn't show it connecting to Astranaar, but it does. So, fly up to Astranaar, and do the next.

If you go to the southwest corner of Westfall, you'll see a fisherman on a dock. Jump off the dock and swim south and you'll go into Stranglethorn Vale. Don't swim close to the shore.. you'll want to keep your distance since this is a lvl 30+ zone. There is plenty of room here before you need to worry about fatiguing. Keep swimming south (more or less paralleling the shore) and you'll come to a large statue of a goblin. You can't miss it. That is the harbor for Booty Bay. Just swim right in, there's a ramp up at the town. Just watch out for gankers, the guards don't help you if you're in the water.

I guess it depend on what flightpaths you already have, but here's how I did it.

Flew to Loch Modan. Ran up to Wetlands (did the Gauntlet quest on the way) and took the FP there. Boat over to Darkshore, took the FP there. Ran to Ashenvale, and, yes, took the FP there. Ran to Barrens and got ganked. Ressed and kept running. Found Takar. Ran to Ratchet and took FP there. Flew to Ashenvale and ran to get the Heartroot (and got ganked on the way). Stoned back to SW and got the Succubus.

Took me quite some time, due to computer hitting 100% CPU every now and then. Makes running a bitch, and PVP impossible. Forgot to take the boat from Ratchet to BB for the FP there, but no matter.

The best way to get to him is first take the boat in wetlands to dustwallow, and then run through without getting killed. you'll end up in the barrens pretty near him. hes in a little camp with another guy just south of camp T

WTF...?? There are horde guards everywhere around the camp. I have no idea how to get in there. At coords 49, 57 there is only two delapidated tents. Where the hell is this dude. All the guards appear as lvl?? to my lvl 21 warlock.

While you're in the Barrens, go visit Ratchet (like Dogtooth's Posting earlier)...Then take a ship to Booty Bay and visit the Gryphon Master there...When you get to Level 30, you have to visit Ratchet again for Seeking Strahad (Level 30 Quest for Summoning Felhunter)...This way, you won't have to cross the Barrens again - just fly to Booty Bay and take a ship to Ratchet:) Good Luck!

The BEST way to get to the location is to take the boat from Menethil to Theramore. After that swim up north Dustwallow Marsh's coastline to the Barrens. Since you already have an unending breath spell diving deep and far from the mainland will allow you to avoid monsters and alliance ganking. You should then reach Durnholde Keep which is allied then go west then southwest to your target.

the directions from other peopple didnt help me, so im adding more advise to this page.once the road forks off to camp taurajo, look south east, u will see 2 buildings with weird skelital tops. go over to them and them walk north east for a short distance, u will see 1 small tent with 2 humans next to it(its easy to miss), 1 of them is the seer.

You could, since you're a warlock, even make this one step easier.

Fly to Westfall.
Run to the coast, near lighthouse.
Swim to Booty Bay.
Keep Unending Breath cast and swim under enough water so that horde will not see you.
Climb out at Booty Bay and get FP, take ship to Ratchet and run to Takar.

I think this would be a more dangerous path, though. Except for the swimming part.

I am a lvl 21 human warlock on the brand new
Hakkar server, just got this quest and went to
the tent. I can not talk to this NPC there is
no question mark above his head or anything. I
get the quest from the person next to him for
the orb but that is it.

This is clearly a bug and as of Patch 1.9, one
that has not been fixed :(

Update: I paged a GM about it and he said he
would "reset" this NPC for me. Not sure exactly
what that means but the quest worked fine after
that, and I finally got the succubus.

I did the Astranaar -> Azshara route, jumped off the bridge in Azshara after getting the Azshara flightpath and swam along the river underneath the ogrimmar access bridge.
Once you reach the Barrens, the mobs aren't really that high.

First, I'd highly recommend doing this quest late at night on a weeknight when there are likely to be much less Horde online. So, the first part in the Barrens is at 49,57 as mentioned by others and the part in Ashenvale is at 31,31. Next I'm going to tell you how I solo'd this at level 20 with only one death which was also NOT player related.

Part 1 the Barrens: If you don't have the flightpath to menethil harbor, run from ironforge or dun morogh into and through the wetlands west to the harbor. Jump on the boat on the left side of the dock to theramore. Find the Inn and set your Hearthstone there, just a recommendation but it's up to you, if you are already able to get to Darkshore/Auberdine you might want to set it there instead. Then run north out of the city and as soon as you leave run to the east and jump in the water. Carefully navigate and avoid the ? beasties until you are just about to hit deep water where you get fatigued then follow that line north all the way around the big named island staying to its east side. You'll end up curving around back south a bit after you go over the north end. Keep following the deep water line as close as possible. If you get attacked by something swim INTO the deep water and it will leave you alone then just swim back out and continue. You will eventually see a castle with theramore guards in it once you are in the barrens area at the shore. Just get out of the water and proceed to the waypoint watching out for Horde and taking care of any beasts/npc's you need to, I'd recommend staying off the road and just cutting straight through the area with the NPC's in the thorned camps. Talk to the npc and then hearth out and by whatever means make your way to Darkshore.

Part 2 Ashenvale: Travel down the road from auberdine south into Ashenvale. Stay on the road until you are pretty much even or just south of the waypoint and you'll see a clearing you can cut east through. Take out a few npc's and their warlock pets then a couple npc's surrounding the tree and walk up to the tree to get the wood. If you have time I'd walk back to the road and continue south and then east to Astrannar to get the flightpath and get out of there. Head back to Stormwind to subdue your succubus :)

Just wanted to add my two cents. This is my first WoW character and I was quite freaked out going to Horde land on this quest.

I did this with a pala-friend yesterday on a EU-pvp server. We went north from Loch Modan, via Wetlands (first time ever in Wetlands), to Menthil Harbour. Took the boat to Theramore Isle. Swam north upto a friendly fort (!) just at the southmost end of The Barrens (I was pretty suprised that the mobs were green. I think it's a low-level horde quest or something). Walk trough the fort, I suppose you could run in 20-ish level horde there, and followed the mountain edge just enough to spot Takar the Seers tent. All coords are correct and I didn't see a single Horde player.

There are some 35+ lvl mobs (aggro) in the water of the northern part of Dustwallow Marsh. Just stay clear and it wont be a problem.

Another reflection is that, which has been pointed out earlier, you can probably go on the beach from the Marsh. I was too freaked out to try that. :-)

I think it's far easier to take the boat from Menethil to Darkshore and then run to Ashenvale. Pickup the flight paths, BTW, and set your heartstone in Astranaar, because that will be where you'll be coming to next. Run southeast into the Barrens and find the guy. Then Hearth back to Astranaar. The tree is on the right as you approach the ruins of Ordnil --- can't miss it because there are 3 or so warlocks there. When complete --- back to SW.

I'm going to run from IF->Loch Moden->Men Harbor (set hearth here). Sail to Tharimour, run the coast line up to the barrons, grab the quest, run to rachet boat to Booty Bay, grab flight path, hearth, boat to Auberdine, grab flight path, run to ashatnar, grab FP again, continue along the way, finish 2nd leg of quest and return to SW. At that point, I'll have enough FPs to get me to where I need to go for the level 30 quest as well (BB). Hopefully the quest won't take much more than 2 hours.

this was absolutely the most difficult quest i have done so far. if you feel confused and frustrated from this quest you are not alone. i finally got it done after hours when a friend of my husbands saw my cries for help in general chat. lol and thats all i can say if u are frustrated u have to find someone who has done it before and knows what their doing. and any way the minion looks good, but its not as good as the imp during fights. good luck 2 u.

I did it with a lvl 20 - 21 warlock, and it's not too difficult, the hardest bit is killing the succubus at the end when u've summoned it, but you can ask others to help you.

- Get the underground tram from the dwarven district to Ironforge
- Once there, take the road left and travel to Loch Modan, then through Wetlands to Menethil Harbour, there will be sign posts on the way
- Take the boat to Auberdine in Darkshore, make sure you get the flight path on the right when you get into the tavern
- Take the road all south to Ashenvale, cross Maestra's Post and Askanaar, get your flight path there
- Carry on the road to south into The Barrens
- At The Mor'shan Rampart there will be horde guards in your way. Go around the town to the left, there will be a burnt down fence where you can get through without having to face the guards
- When you get to The Crossroads, down go into the town, there will be guards again, surround it on the left and carry on the Gold Road to south
- When you come to a crossing with signs pointing to Mulgore and something Needles, down go straight ahead nor right, turn left until you get to the camp to speak with Takar the Seer and get the next part of the quest
- Go back to Ashenvale Forest, at Maestra's Post turn right to discover the Ruins of Ordil'Aran
- Run straight to the big tree, let them kill you and revive behind the Heartswood tree, but climb up behind it to avoid being killed straight away
- Kill the guards one by one, then go to the front of the Heartswood and loot it, it won't let you do it from behind
- Run back all the way to Menethil Harbour and take the boat back - or use your Stone depending on where you've got it
- Go to the guy in the Slaughtered Lamb tavern in the mage quarter of Stormwind and follow the instrcutions to summon your Succubus

Grr..I've been lost in the Barrens for so long its not even funny, i get told "northeast of Camp T", "East of Camp T" blah blah blah! i cannot find him! ive gone everyhere these messages have told me (no coodinates so dont message me with those) can someone plz help me?

It was insanity, I looked on thottbot for the second time doing this quest, it's the worst quest for a warlock in my opinion so far, it was much easier to a horde to get the succubus then the alliance but after spending time searching on my 44 lvl character with a mount I found the takar the seeker.. He is blonde hair human wearing a cloak near a camp site, a dark brown tent pitched up behind to older looking abandon tents that look like made from bones.. Its location is north east of camp taurajo. There is other guy as well standing next to him and a pan for campfire, cooking... It shouldn't take long to find unless you want to run into hoops like I did thinking its going to be trouble to find hitting up every campsite with hogs, looking for a corpse, instead of thinking of a tent with a human known as Takar the Seeker.. lol, silly me.
Well thank god that's over..

I am standing at the coordinates given by others in this post. There are 2 tents here, but they are empty. All the others around here have humanoids, but no alliance, no Takar.

If this quest is your first visit to Kalimdor, as it is for many alliance warlocks, then here is a suggested route that will allow you to pick up some crucial flight points:

1. If you start in Stormwind, take the tram to Ironforge and pick up the flightpoint there.

2. Get a portal to Darnassus, or find a warlock in darnassus that can summon you. Mages must be level 50 to cast portal: Darnassus.

3. Leave Darnassus via Rutheran village, pick up the flight point there.

4. Take the ferry from Rutheran to Auberdine.

5. Grab Auberdine Flight Point.

6. Take the boat from Auberdine to Menethil harbor (directly across from the one you arrived on)

7. Pick up Menethil Flight Point.

8. Take the other boat from Menethil to Theramore and grab the flight point there.

9. Swim north from Theramore to the Barrens.

10. Stop by Ratchet and grab that flight point.

11. Go speak to the quest NPC

12. If you want, you can also take the boat from Ratchet to Booty Bay and grab the flight point there to save yourself the run across STV later.

This may seem like a lot of traveling, but you're cutting out a lot of run around it would take to get these flight paths the "traditional" way. By doing this you've made it much easier to get between the major towns whenever you need to.

EASIEST WAY

Note: If you don't already have the gryphon route to Menethil, read one of the other posts about how to get there.

From the docks in Menethil, take the boat from the north dock to Auberdeen. Once you exit the boat and get to the end of the dock, you're inside the Inn. Make this Inn your home. Exit the south door of the Inn (up the ramp) and click the Gryphon Master to add the flight route. Now go back to the dock, taking the same boat you came in on (south dock, to Menethil).

Once back in Menethil, go to the south dock and take the boat to Theramore Isle. In Theramore, head straight off the dock into town, and click the Gryphon Master there (on the left side of the road). Head north and curve around the castle to get to the town's exit.

Just outside the town gates, make a right through the graveyard onto the beach. Staying on the sand, run north up the beach until the beach curves sharply left (west), where you'll see an island ahead of you that's filled with Mirefins. Cast Unending Breath and swim Northeast. Looking on your minimap you'll see ahead of you two islands. Swim north between those two islands.

As you come out the other side, you'll see a ship in the water ahead and slightly west. Head toward that ship for a little bit, then cut straight west onto the beach. Be sure to hit the beach just to the south of where all the Slimeshell Makrura's are.

If you don't have a Soulstone and/or Healthstone and want them now, cast your pet and kill a couple of the Makrura's (level 18). Head north on the beach just a little and you'll see friendly guards (Marines) and Northwatch Hold.

Create your Soulstone rez now and head inland, going up the hill west (just to the right of the entrance to Northwatch Hold). Go through that gap in the mountains and head South by Southwest, killing the level 18ish mobs blocking your path.

Check the map image above for the exact location of the Quest NPC (you'll see white tent). Once you've completed the quest and gotten the next part, use your Hearthstone to get back to Auberdeen. The quest you have now is named "Heartswood", which you can search for here on Thottbot.

I did this @ lev20 w/o any problems at all.

OMG,ignore all previous posts! This is really so simple.
If u haven't discovered Menethil Harbor, get that done. Grab FP, and set ur Hearth stone 4 Menethil, this is a must.
Take left boat out of Menethil, it will take u to Theramore. Grab FP in Theramore.
Now, u r going to make an easy run to Ratchet. Run North along the shoreline, u will run across Murloc Oracles, LvL?, Working carefully, thru the water, u should die only once.
After that, the run is a piece of cake.
U will pass Northwatch Hold, no worries, this is Alliance Territory.
U r now running along the Merchant Coast, no worries, the Bloodsail Buccaneers r lower Lvl than u.
Continue North, Ratchet is right after the Buccaneers. Grab the FP.
Take the road, West out of Ratchet, immediately start hugging the Mts, on ur left, headed South.
U R going to coords (49,57), no coords, then listen up, everything in this area r easy kills.
U can choose to stay on the road, when the road Y's off, take a left, completely off the road.
Stay in a straight line run and u will come to ur objective.
Now, hearth back to Menethil.
Take the right boat, this time. U R now in Auberdine, grab FP.
Take Rd, headed South out of Auberdine. Long run. Stay on the road until u see *Discovered Maestra's Post*.
Take an immediate left, go to coords (31,31)(Ashenvale Map).
No coords, pull up ur map, just NE of Maestra's Post u will see 2 pillars and 3 pillars, u r going to the 2 pillars, easy kills.
Stay to the right. Ur objective is the tree right next to 1st pillar.
Hearth out or go back to road and head south to Astranaar for the FP there. From Astranaar, fly to Ratchet, take boat to BootyBay.
FP in BootyBay is a nut to find. Exit boat take the ramp up, walk behind the bldgs, go up 1st orange ramp to ur left, turn right, up brown ramp, turn left, immediate ramp, u should be facing Boucher's Cauldron. Turn right, jump on top of bldg, cross the rooftop, and BOOM, FP.

How I went:

Swam from Westfall to Booty Bay (keep the hell away from the shore, the basilisks and the humanoid mobs can swim. Fast.)
Took the boat to Rachet
Ran through Merchant Coast, where all the low lvl pirate mobs are
Got to Northwatch Hold (the Marines are Alliance mobs so they don't attack Alliance, took west through the raptor grounds
Killed Quillboars and went south through Bramblescar, then further south until I got to Takar. Easy =D

(This was at 5am server time though, so there weren't many players around. If you go at peak time chances are you will be ganked so you may want to bring a friend along)

i did this quest at 20 with no problem. i used the tram, walked to the wetlands, then took the boat to dustwallow. I did not die there as i though i would, just stayed on the road and kept running no matter what. went to the tents, the coords listed previously are correct. then i went to ashenvale by walking straight north thru the barrens. there are horde lvl 40 guards at the ramparts, but there is a hole in the fence u can use. when the road curves to the left when u get to the ramparts, keep going straight. u should see a catapult and the hole in the fence, just go straight thru in ashenvale. the tree is ne of maetra's post. lvl 19, 20 mobs occupy the area, no biggie.

In general terms the Horde and the beasts stay down at low levels. If you get up onto the mountains, you can get pretty well anywhere in the Barrens without much trouble. My worst bit was a couple of 22-23 hyenas just above the crossing into Dustwallow.

I can't get to the barrens without bludy crocs killing me if u could help then my character name is Vasita and he is in the realm bladefist.
I am a lv 22 no wonder i struggle but i try to run to guards they help me a lot. I tried doing it alone but that wasn't the best idea.

i dont know if anyone has thought of this or not yet. but all i did was went to the border of barrens and ashenvale forest.. then had the guards kill me. and then i rezzed at the spirit healer and just walked all the way there then hearthed out. the rez sickness sucks but you are pretty close to camp taurajo.

DO NOT go running along shoreline in Dustwallow Marsh out of Thereamore. As of last patch, there are now Difias baddies all up the coastline.

Stick to the road and run.... far less baddies to encounter.

The Barrens are on the continent of Kalimdor.
West of Dustwallow marsh/Theramor island.
If you are big enough, it's best to boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet. But it's very hard to get to Booty Bay if you are less than 30.
So you can boat from Wetlands to Theramore and then run to Barrens.

When I got this quest it was in the middle of January, I played on my alts until the lunar festival - then I used my lunar festival invite to go to Darnassus from Stormwind.

A total cheat I know but it made it really easy to get it done.

I don't know what the deal is with DM or Van Cleef. My 20 loc hasn't done either. This is a lot of running but the only dicey part was in Dustwallow Marsh. I ran from IF to Menethil and took the boat to Theramore. I just ran on the road to the Barrens with VW summoned and set to aggressive. Twice crocs attacked and I was able to get away when VW attacked them. Both times I was able to call VW back when I was far enough away. Unfortunately I was jumped by a third croc while VW was returning to me and he killed me. I rezzed far enough away from him to be safe, summoned VW back, and continued on my way. Once you get to the Barrens you should be able to handle the MOBs. The NPC is at 49,51, he sends you to Ashenvale to the tree. After getting the tree quest I continued running north to Ratchet and then took the bird to Theramore. Total time for both quests was probably 1 1/2 hours but you want a succubus don't you?

Thanks for coords, I went through whole Stranglethorn Vale and Barrens without realising that there is a boat from Menethil to Theramore. Wasn't a bad trip though :D. Went straight on lvl 20 on the road from duskwood to booty bay and was killed just once by horde :)

Found a fun way to cut the running time through Barrens for this quest: from Ashenvale, simply run straight at the horde guards manning the main entrance. Let your pet fight them as you continue running, as far into Barrens as you can. You will die very quickly, but don't worry, when you release your spirit, you rez at Crossroads!

if you haven't done darkshore and/or ashenvale go from duskwood to stangletorn vale. put your armor on the bank and if you are halfway let yourself die and ress at the graveyard in bootybay. then you can get your armor from the bank and take the boot

Darn, was easy once I went the right way. The thotbot map is wrong, but this one is right on the money.

One key is having an imp summoned, on offensive, and letting it die whenever the crocs attack, while you keep running. Once in the Horde territory, set it to defensive.

With my home set to the Inn in Ashenvale, it was an easy run in, an easy teleport out.

With lots of missteps along the way.

Barrens 49,57 will take u right there. Going to the Camp is a misdirection and will get U slaughtered.

Picked this up in SW as a level 22. Went to Menethil, got the boat to Aueberdine, hoofed it through Ashenvale, went down the path to the Barrens, made a left at the Horde crossing and passed thru a hole (burned out spot) in the fence. Avoided everything or tried to until I found the dude.

Also, ran over to Ratchet and got a flight path.

I and two other warlocks are having problems with this quest. Takar just doesnt have the ? above his head. The weird thing is, other warlocks on our server (Frostmane) have gotten it.

Go to Stormwind, then to the warlock place in the Slaughtered Lamb (gotta love that name). Talk to Gakin the Darkbinder for the quest. You will have to travel far so have a group of people or a couple of high levels escort you if you like. I made it all the way by myself, but got scared at the Crossroads in the Barrens and waited for some friends to help me with this quest.

Cosmos location for Takar the Seer: The Barrens (HORDE TERRITORY) 49,57 (Camp Taurajo Bramblescar)

How to get to The Barrens: I suggest flying to Menethil Harbor and taking the boat over to Darkshore. Then run, run, run to the Barrens. You should go through Ashenvale (level 30ish critters here) to get to The Barrens (18-25ish). This is Horde Territory so it might be wise to go with a big group, a few high level characters.

If you can’t fly to the Harbor, then journey to Ironforge. Take the North Gate Pass into Loch Modan. Then take Algaz Pass through some tunnels till you enter the Wetlands. Follow the path all the way around till you get to Menethil Harbor. The Wetlands are Contested Territory, so be wary of Horde. Follow the directions above to get to The Barrens.

In The Barrens: When you get to the Crossroads, be sure not to just walk on through it (the guards don’t seem to like that for some reason ), take the left entrance for there are no guards really. After you get around that, then head to Bramblescar and look for a tent at Camp Taurajo, or the yellow “?” or the yellow circle on the minimap and there you will find Takar. After that, return from wince you came, remember to avoid the guards at the crossroads. Go back to Ashenvale.

In Ashenvale: Look for the tree surrounded by warlocks and their summons. You can’t miss it really. Pick them off one by one, then loot the tree. Then teleport or whatever back to the inn in Stormwind or wherever your inn is (if your inn is not in Stormwind, you will have to travel there anyway so its best to set it there.

Back at Stormwind: Go to the Slaughtered Lamb and talk to Gakin the Darkbinder. Then go to the Summoning Circle (just like what is done for the Voidwalker). Fight the succubus and return to Gakin. This will automatically be put in the spellbook, not in your bag.

For those having problems accessing this quest, I am sorry, but I have no answer for that.

The Dogma with going to Theramore is that you have to run through the swamp with lots of high lvl mobs. Then theres taking the ship Darkshore and run down. No NO NO NO a thousands times No! and almost just as bad is taking a ship from Booty Bay to ratchet. Although not as risky Booty Bay is way south and a long walk if you dont have booty on your FP map.

Take the boat to Theramore and from the dock run due north along the shore until you reach Northwatch Hold. Along the beach there are some non agro turtles along the beach and some higher lvl murlock type mobs on some of the islands, but if you stay in the water away from the islands this isn't an issue. You should leave the beach and swim across the bay with islands when you come to it. Then Once you make it to Northwatch Hold hang a left out into the barrens and the tent is almost right there.

I think you should try it this way, you'll like it much better, and won't die.

The guy is near the camp.

Going North on the road, assuming you ran up from the boat stop, this is what you do.

First, set your familiar to aggressive. Have a collection of souls.

When the crocs spawn, just keep running. Two things will happen. Your minion will attack them, and so will the guards. Often the crocs will spend their time killing a voidwalker rather than munching on you. When you get to the next guardpost, resummon. If you are out that way and low on shards, just use an imp the same way.

I had mine on defensive (so he didn't attack until after I was attacked) and I still only got killed once. Swimming the route takes more time.

Once you get the message that the camp is in the area, just keep going north on the road. You don't have to go far until the road has a fork of sorts. One goes straight, the other goes left. On the map you will see the camp off to your left.

Go right at that point. You can avoid all the mobs, or clear them out, on the way to the camp. He is NW from the camp, W from the branch in the road.

I made the mistake of going NE and around the camp and got killed by a guard, griefed by the Horde (guy pretended to be willing to live and let live, but basically lurked until I was attacked by something else), cleaned out mobs that had nothing to do with the quest, etc.

Go due west from the intersection. Thotbot is wrong. That other map is right on the money.

Tara the Seer is standing under a tree near an oblong tent and a fire with another npc. Pickup The Orb of Soran 'ruk quest here at level 20.

He is actually N/E of the camp but might interpret as being W according to the minimap. Who knows. We ran around the camp soooo many times. Get ready for a lot of mobs hitting ya as you are trying to locate the Seer.

For those who need more detailed guide, here's how i did it (prepare to spend roughly 2 hours for this and the subsequent quest Heartswood)

First of all, i don't have flying route to booty bay yet and therefore i prefer to walk all the way to Menethil Harbor and take a ship to Theramore. From the city, go towards the swamp but DON'T GO DEEPER. I plunge myself into the water from the bridge and swam northward. It might be wise to walk first since walking is faster than swimming but until certain point you'll find some high-level murloc. That would be the place where you'd want to start swimming. Keep your camera zoom high to be able to swim in enough distance from the murloc because sometimes they're swimming too.

When the map changed to Ashenvale, usually your fatigue bar would start to appear. Try your best to swim to the shore but anyway i didn't make it and so I died on the sea, and resurrected on the graveyard on the bay. Take a walk along the cliff. I didn't take the road out of fear of meeting any high level horde (i was only lvl 20 then). If you don't know the NPC location, go and check the minimap above and walk there along the cliff. You might want to have a voidwalker with you just because along the way you'll meet some humanoid and some of them might saw and attack you. Just be sure to set the voidwalker stance as defensive.

Near the NPC location, from the cliff you can see that some location contains a lot of humanoid lvl 20's and another place is filled with gigantic dinosaurs. Choose the latter because these dinosaur won't run when their life is low and they're rather "shortsighted" (humanoid would run away and if your pet chase him, it'll increase the chance of it getting mobbed).

Talk to the NPC and that's the end of this quest. I'll write the Heartswood in its section.

Lvl: 20
Race: Gnome
Pet: Voidwalker
Armor: Fully broken! (I resurrected at the graveyard twice)

Took boat from Wetlands to Theramore Isle then ran thru Dustwallow Marsh (stay on path and watch for the crocs) to the Barrens then up to the tent. Hit Ratchet and BB on the way back.

I think it's easier to go to Theramore Isle and run through Dustwallow Marsh into The Barrens. Take the boat from Menethil to Theramore Isle.

The claim that you need to have done Deadmines before you can do this quest is completely untrue. I just completed this quest on my lvl 20 human lock, and I've never done VC and don't even have the quest for it in my log either.

he is OUTSIDE the camp Taurajo.

He is located NE of the camp. Take the road to the east of Camp Taurajo and go north. You will hit an intersection shortly. (less the 30 second running).

Now go to option screen to video setting, set terran distance to high (far right).

Go north east of the intersection. You will see a rectangular tent with a fire in front of it with 2 NPC. One of them is Takar.

There are a lot of red mobs around, but all doable for a level 20 warlock. Just take your time and clean up the place. No need to die here.

Remeber to get the quest in Stormwind before you come to the Barren.

After the quest, remember to stop by Rachet and tag the griffin riders then take boat to Booty bay and tag the griffin rider, while on your way back to Stormwind.

To save everyone the searching of these long and mostly pointless messages that I had to do, I'll repeat what Bofhzip provided:

Takar's at 49,57 for Titan and Cartographer (IDK what the 49,51 coordinates are for)

It IS possible to go through Dustwallow Marsh without dying. I set my VW to Defensive, and was attacked only 3 times - once right in front of a camp of friendly guards who helped out.

When attacked, keep running. Once safe, resummon VW.

(BTW... I never even accepted a quest for DM, much less even enter it, and had no trouble talking to Takar)

When you get to menethil harbor make sure to get the flight path and bind yourself there. After you get done with the barrens part just gate back and take boat to auberdine. Take road north to find the tree. After you loot the tree gate back to Menethil again and fly back to Ironforge.

The guy is northeast of Camp Taurajo.

I thought the quest was going to be hard, but once I did it, I just kind of thought "That's it?" because going into Horde territory wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Just stick to the roads, unless you can't for some reason, and you'll be fine.

There is direct access to The Barrens from Ashenvale without having to run through the Horde Camp & wind-up getting slaughtered. As you're running south on the road from Ashenvale to The Barrens there is an access point just to left of the Horde gate. It is a small valley just to left there called 'The Mor'shan Rampart'. It has a broken down trebuchet and a hole in a spiked fence. I ran through that and stayed to the left hugging the hills and hopped right onto the main road in The Barrens having never encountered a Horde guard. I thought that this might help out instead of having to sacrifice yourself to the Horde.

DO NOT TAKE THE BOAT FROM MENETHRIL HARBOR! The run takes forever to get to the badlands and it is a waste of time

if you swim right along the edge of the fatigue part of the sea then you wont be touched by any monster (or random horde dude)

and really how are you all dying is dustwallow? l2play plz, i set to passive and just ran, got attacked twice but never did more than 300 damage of 789 life, just run like hell

A shorter but risky route is through Dustwallow. Take the boat to Theramore and you'll end up close to Taurajo after you follow the road. Keep an imp ready to take the bullet for any skull-level mobs you pull, and keep running.

It will be hard to find a thing of this nature, though. You should speak with Takar the Seer. You will find him in the Barrens of Kalimdor near Camp Taurajo.
