Just as the quest details, Ironband's Compound is just southwest of Helm's Bed Lake, which is on the Eastern side of Dun Morogh.

When you approach the compound, you'll notice a building on the south side. this is where the Umbral Ore is located. Dark Iron Spies are spaced wide enough apart that you can pull each one individually.

After making your way inside of the building, you'll find Captain Beld located in the basement. He is standing right next to a chest that contains the Umbral Ore. Beware, as soon as he sees you, he will charge you, so any rush attacks will have to be quick. Once Captain Beld is killed, simply open the chest and retreive the ore.

For those of you with Cosmos or Titan Panel add-ons, the coordinates are 77,62 for the chest.

Note: The quest "The Public Servant" pairs will with this quest, since Rockjaw Bonesnappers are also found in front of the compound. (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=433)

You find the ore in a lockbox at 78,62 in Ironband's Compound (south of Helm's Bed Lake) in the house in the back in the basement. The box is protected by Captain Beld, lvl 11 non-elite. The other mobs around are lvl 8 to 9.

The Unbral Ore is stored in a lockbox found in the basement of a house (entrance 77.61) located in Ironband's Compound (south of Helm's Bed Lake.) There are a couple of Dark Iron Spy's on the out side of house, two inside of house, and the box is protected by Captain Beld, lvl 11 in basement.

Okay here are some very simple step by step instructions on how to do this quest:

*After talking to Tormus Deepforge, accept the quest and go to the gates of Ironforge

*Begin walking down the path down the mountain until you reach the fork in the road.

*Take the fork left (south) and keep going, across the bridge, until you reach another fork. You shouldnt be at Kharanos yet.

*Take that second fork to the left again (east) and keep going following the road reletivly east, not taking the road south to where gnomes buy their mounts, or take the road north to the amberstill ranch. Just keep going.

*Finally you should reach another turn to the right (south) that goes towards the Gol'Bolar quarry. Your getting closer!

*Keep following the road going past it, and then soon get off the road and go south (this should be before you reach another fork in the road)

*You should find Helm's Bed Lake. Go south of that until you reach the mountains, and if you havent already found Ironband's compound, go either east or west in either direction to find it. Its around there somewhere

*Kill things into the building, go downstairs, and kill Captain Beld, and there should be a small black chest sitting near the bed. Thats it! get it and complete your quest.

I personally did this quest, slowly, with ease, I was an 11 warrior ^_^

Directions:
* Go to Helm's Bed Lake
* Go directly south and you will reach Ironband's Compound
* Fight your way to the house furthest south.
* Fight your way downstars (Should be some lvl 9 and 10 Dark Iron Spys)
* Fight/Kill Captain Beld (lvl 11)
* Open the chest on the right
* Go back to Ironforge
* Go to the Great Forge in the center of the city
* Talk to Tormus Deepforge

thank you all for the elaborate instructions on how to play WoW. I don't know how I ever made it this far without them and I'm sure I will be a better player from now on. the W button makes me move forward, right?

COME ON! these quests are here for a reason; if you are unable to complete them you're not worthy of the reward! telling others exactly how to walk and how to play; you might as well be offering an escort or powerlevelling for cash! I sure don't see the difference

stop giving exact paths to follow and start handing out no more than valuable information that others can use in their own 'experience of WoW'; critical coordinates and the quest-reward.

just go from IF to the road west of kharanos, just follow it.
if you are close to helm's bed lake go to the south you will see a house (kill all the dark iron spy's lvl 9 and 10, be careful) get into the house kill captain beld
and open ironband's lockbox.

How do you find this lake. I'm in Dun Morogh and just left Stormwind, it says to stay south, but that leads to Kharanos, I'm looking for the lake, but it's not in the guide. Has it been removed?

This helped me for the most part, though I recommened fighting the spy's one at a time, I try to take on 5 at once, by accident. Not good.

My mentor, Sturgy Ironband, had a compound south of Helm's Bed Lake in eastern Dun Morogh. There he taught blacksmithing and he was the best.

But one day, one of his students brought him a load of strange ore. Master Ironband called it umbral ore and was eager to work with it, but soon after it arrived... a band of Dark Iron dwarves attacked his compound. They killed everyone!

Enter Ironband's compound, <name>, and avenge my master's death. And bring me the load of umbral ore that caused it.
