The fountain is on an island in the middle of a lake. Mobs 23-34 surround the lake. What makes it difficult is the mobs have the Entangling Roots ability making fleeing harder. Oh yeah, and there's a '?? Elite' Wandering Protector walking around in the area too to watch out for.

Don't get too scared about the ?? Elite Wandering Protector, it walks all over ashenvale, wastingtape must had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some mobs patrolls the well, kill them and then fill the Emty Blue Waterskin. Don't make my mistake (as an alliance player it's easy to forget that you're playing an horde char) and go too far, i went through Astranaar and got killed...

I don't know if they changed this quest recently, but I just did it with a lvl 20 Shaman without too much trouble.

I'm only wearing greens, with a puny enhancement spec which is far from optimal at this level, so basically if I can do it, you can too. Don't give up, play to the best of your ability, use the totems you have, and a 23-24 mob won't be able to withstand the shocks that you do manage to get through (I had to kill a lvl 23, lvl 20 to get to the fountain, and a lvl 24 on my way out). Especially if you manage to throw yourself a heal every once in a while.

33,67 is confirmed. The socalled fountain is more of a birdbath with a blue glow at the center of the island.

lvl 20 tauren....easy as you can take out lvl 24 with your searing totem and put down your stonskin. Im a shield shaman....very good greens. i killed a 22,24 at the same time to do it no pot.

It's interesting to note that the act of filling the waterskin is like casting a spell, not like interacting with an object. This means if you take damage from a monster while filling it, it will just delay the process, instead of interrupting it.

Died horribly trying to do this quest. Its not that the mobs are impossible; mainly being a poorly equipped level 20 enhancement spec probably worked against me! Anyway, easiest trick I found was to just doggedly make your way to the "fountain" (as someone pointed out, its more of a birdbath than a fountain, but it is the only one of its kind on the island and in a little pagoda so easy to spot) and get as close as you possibly can in the assumption you'll probably die.

Then corpse run and resurrect right by the fountain, making sure you're prepared to drop a stoneclaw totem, down the highest level healing potion you can take and start using the waterskin (in that order) the second you resurrect.

Died again, resurrected at the spirit healer, and headed on down to the Zoram Strand to pick up the flight path.

Not the most stylish way to complete the quest, but it got the job done without lots of slow, painful fighting or grovelling to high level friends!

The fountain is in the green lake directly south from astranaar. Several level 22-25 elementals guard the fountain. Stay on the main road until you turn towards astranaar, then head south / southeast. We wound up dying on the swim there, then running back and rezzing on top of the founain.

Just to clarify the location. The fountain in NOT on the island in the middle of Mystral Lake. Its location is West of Mystral Lake and straight south of Astranaar. Sounds like people are doing what I did and looked in the middle of the lake for the fountain. Hope this helps.

To all the above that says its not on the island .. Well it is. There are mobs around it and a lot of pillars and glowy bushes.
The fountain isnt very big and it doesnt appear as a fountain if u put ur mouse over it. You simply have to stand close to it and right click the bag to fill it.
I just did it ... and there is nothing around the lake but mountains so .. its ON the ISLAND ppl :)

I think they made this quest easier, the elementals were only levels 22 and 23 for me. By the time I got there I was level 22 myself so it was a fairly easy fight when 1 on 1. Of course if you pull more than 1, you're mostly screwed.

I followed the same instructions as before, take the road west, and as it curves north, take a SW jog down a path, and your map should open up to show an island surrounded by water. The coords are correct. Fairly easy quest really.

Ok guys just follow the road, right before you get to Astranar at the bend ( 39,58 ) there is another road that branches off of it its not on the map but you will see it, follow it, when you get to the RUins of STardust ( 33,67 ) watch our for wandering forest guardian (60 ELite) after hes gone go to the ruins it will be surrounded by those swamp thing elementals, you WILL die, but after that ghost back to the ruins shoot out your STONECLAW TOTEM it will buy you some time, then right click your blue water skin, you should get the bag filled before you die with a little left over to run a bit, when you die res at spirit healer and hearth out, all done :) VERY EASY AT LEVEL 20!

lvl 34 without water totem? man i would have went insane from morons crying about me not having the totem yet, and i used the suicide tactics on this quest.. hefty repair bill follows...

I just did it. The cords ppl posted are correct. The eastiest way is ghost wolf directly to the fountain (ignor mobs even if they attack you),fill up water (cant be interupted :) die rezz and ghost wolf ur ass outta there. Thats how i did it no probs. BTW thisi works in patch 1.9

Doesn't appear this quest is available anymore. I'm L27 and Brine won't give me the quest. Maybe it's a few levels higher. Very strange.

I died like 3 times cause i was lvl 20

I feel that killing the mobs is the best way to go. I'm on PvP and while the annoyance of high level alliance players is a pain, with ghost wolf and some good reflexes accesing the fountain is a snap. Prefering the death rewarp is also a good path to go, but the prospect of getting no exp and walking bores me. So be brave and try to wipe em out the first time and if you die do the origional plan.

Followed the road in ghost wolf form like the others suggested, no problems. Got the bag filled @ the fountain by killing a few mobs and ghost wolfing outta there, didn't die once! Good luck guys, you can definitely do this without having to die as long as you don't aggro more than one at a time!

The ruins of stardust are pretty much directly west of mystral lake. Just take the path and you'll run right into them. I looked around forever on the island in mystral lake before i realized that it was the wrong one. The fountain is on the island in the green lake to the west in the stardust ruins. Hope this helps!

Ok, i would suggest doing this part of the Q at about 23. 22 should be ok and 21 at a push. 20's, just wait a lvl or two.

Right, i wouldnt bother with the tunnel, its much easier just to run up the path in Ashenvale. Id suggest flying to Splintertree if youve got the path.
So, run up the path untill you get just about to the right of it (use the curser co-ords in the map) then, just run to the left. I would un-ghost wolf about now as you will probably pull. Oh and watch out for the 25 bear that wanders around, he nearly had me heh.
Any way, you should soon enough reach the lake and an island in the middle. watch out around here as the enemies hide in the water and are often casters.
Ok, the well is right in the middle, has four little posts around it and is glowing faintly green. Please note you have to actualy be TOUCHING it to get it, again, nearly got me here ^_^
Grab that and either Ghost Wolf back to Splintertree and fly or hearth.

Congrats, get back to brine and he will tell you to head off to the other dude.

ok guys this one had me for a while i gotta admit but here is what to do.

Fly to splinter tree post. Easy

Follow the road towards astranaar and go south just before reaching the NE city.

Now you are at a big lake with an island in the middle. This is not the island! Go west now and follow the semi-trail semi-road. You should pass some bears, ignore them if you can.

Now there is another lake, this is it! There will be tres everywhere, walkin trees. try an kill them, then go to the island an go up to bird bath and actually touch it, then right click the blue pouch and it'll fill up!

Ok here is a step by step for stupid pepole like me to find the fountain.

1)Top of barrens 47,3
2)Go straight tell you hit 67,57
3)make a left Towards astrannaar.
4)follow the path tell you hit 38,57 then make a left.
5)Keep following the path till you see a green lake with a island in the middle of the lake with the fountain 33,68

I did this quest at lvl 20 so its kinda tough. But this is the easiest way. run to the fountain and you will have like 3 of the monsters on you. die right next to the fouten. as a ghost walk to your body and get your empty bag ready befor you res. Then res then click the bag and fill it up. once its full you will most likey die again so just res by the ghost. then Hearthstone out of there.

the fountain wont let me fill up mi waterskin im right by the fountain and it wont let me, are you supposed to be able to put your mouse over it and itll tell you somethin cuz it doesnt for me

The fountain is definatley on the Island, It's kind of hard to see, but it is under the dark colored set of titled ruins, all the other pieces of ruins are white in color, these are dak gray almost black, can't miss

follow the road until u reach just b4 astranaar...then look 2 ur left and follow a slightly hidden path...clear those tree looking guys...real easy to kill 1 at a time...then look 4 a little stand looking thing and rite clik on the container...
very easy to do...recommended u have ghost wolf...

You don't need to do them right away, but work them in with your other quests. I filled the first water skin before heading out to STM/Ashenvale at level 20. Didn't turn in the second one until I came back from Hillsbrad at level 24. Third one got done once I returned to Ashenvale at level 27. The spells they give you aren't super critical, though it's nice to not have to lug too many useless trinkets around.

I did this at 20 the quick way. I sprinted out to the island, ignored the 3 guys attacking me, dropped a stoneclaw totem and clicked the water pouch. Even if the monsters are hitting you the progress bar will still fill (with pushed-back) before you die.

They killed me a few seconds after it filled. Release, spirit rez, and hearth back to crossroads!

If you haven't already, stop by Splintertree Post (73,65) in Ashenvale and pick up the flight plan.
I'd also suggest picking these up if ya can then you can turn in Report to Splintertree Post and the 1st part of The Ashenvale Hunt while you're on your way to the well.

Hey yall...i havent done the quest yet but its easier to bring a friend. Im a level 23 and im bringing another level 23 and a level 25 friend so we can get eachothers backs. then can walk or just hearth back. BYE! and have fun

The ISLAND is in the MIDDLE of the LAKE. The FOUNTAIN is NEAR the EDGE to the LAKE. Be prepared YOU will fight lvl 22-24 mobs and they SWARM.

I went there as a 22 shammy, and had no problem clearing out the elementals (if you just take them 1 at a time)...

BUT I CANT FIND THE FOUNTAIN

I walked all over the tiny island clicking the bag, but nothing clicked, I went underneath the little gazebo, went tby the small red-bottle thing, everywhere!

but nothing worked!

I did this one on level 20, and it was not very hard att all. You just have to make sure you fight them one at a time, and make the most of the totems you have.

If you read the quest correctly, it says clearly « beyond Lake Mystral, you will find a holy place: the Ruins of Stardust. At the center of the lake you will find a small fountain. » Do not look for it on the island in the middle of Mystral lake (where you have to scout the gazebo for Stonetalon Standstill). The Ruins of Stardust are West of Mystral Lake, directly south of Astranaar. You will be looking for an small « O » shaped lake. And the area above the minimap will show « Ruins of Stardust ».

You can safely reach the small fountain by staying on the main road until the bridge leading into Astranaar. Just south of the bridge, there is a small path that takes you directly to the fountain. The only creatures on the way are Shadowhorn Stag : they’re harmless and will not attack you unless you do so first.

Reaching the north shore of the lake, there will be a few Shadeticket Raincaller (level 22-24 elementals). Before crossing over, look for a fallen dead tree in the water. There are fewer elementals near it and from it to the small fountain. If you face them one by one, you should be able to get to the fountain without too much trouble.

I don’t know if the level of the mobs has changed through the different patches, but I did not come accross elementals higher than 24 by staying in the immediate area of the small fountain.

If you are too low level and want to reach it as a ghost from dying and resing next too it, I strongly suggest you bag all your armor to avoid paying repairs.

You’ll notice that there is no tooltip at the fountain. There is no wheel to show that you can use it. You have to use the Empty Blue Waterskin while standing next to it.

The Fountain is on an island in the middle of a small, greenish lake. there are TONS of lvl 23-26 elementals surrounding it, but if you have l33t ninja kills like i did, you can sneak your way in and grab the sample. The fountain is in the center of a small circle of stonehenge-esqe stones.

I had to do this quest just now... the area was filled with these elementals. If you're out of luck as well, I suggest you do this:

A. Run to the fountain at the center of the island. Die.
B. Ghost back there, res and immediately fill your Blue Waterskin. Die.
C. Ghost back there, res, and get the hell out. :)

My equipment wasn't very hawt to begin with, so I only paid a silver for repair costs.

Just did this one. Coords are indeed Ashenvale 33,67
When you run west towards Astranaar over the road, immediately when you enter the region, there's a path south. Just a little further is the lake with the island in the middle. I had to kill 5 or 6 elementals (lvl 22-23) to get to the fountain. Fairly easy for lvl 22.

I did get a screenshot of the fountain, but not sure how to upload :-)

For some reason, I was expecting a right-click wheel, so I spent way too long there at lvl 21. You right-click on the bottle near the fountain instead. >_<###

This quest was nigh impossible to do as level 21, but in retrospect: you can run to the fountain, warstomp, fill it and die (or run away if you're very lucky)

Anyway, I killed a level 23 elemental on the side, ran to it and managed to fill it before dieing.

If you plan on fighting your way to the fountain, make sure you get a quest from Splintertree to kill 12 of the elementals before you head over.

my ping was over 1000 when I was trying to do this quest and I was having heaps of problems. All my gear ended up red so I decided to just try charging in and trying to use the well anyway.

Turns out you can use the well while being attacked.

I did this quest with no problems at all. Don't know if somone had been there killing before I arrived but I only had to kill one mob to get to the island and on the island was more than enough room to just stoll up to the fountain and do my thing.

As a L20 I ran naked to the fountain, but bank all your gear. Taking them off and stashing them in your bags WILL NOT WORK. You still get dinged 10%. So bank your stuff. Zero repairs after.dying 4 times. haha! Standing on top of the fountain to hearth out will not work either The mobs are a little closer now, not like in the original vanilla WoW. I could be wrong about this though. Try it. Good luck!

For those with a co-ordinate add it's 33.6 by 67.5 in ashenvale, I had to kill 3 mobs to get to it.

Descrizione

Take this waterskin and head deep into the lush forest the night elves call Ashenvale. It is to the far north of the Barrens.

Once you've entered the forest, travel west. Along the mountains that separate Stonetalon and Ashenvale, and beyond Lake Mystral, you will find a holy place: the Ruins of Stardust. At the center of the lake you will find a small fountain.

Bring me a sample of the fountain's water. It will be the final component you'll need before I send you back to Islen.
