Any sunfury blood elf in Netherstorm can drop these plans.
My gulid mate found them in the first mob he killed, I needed 9 kills.

Combine this quest with the ones that teleports you to the Throne of Kil'Jaeden to save
traveling time. From there you can head north to Manaforge Coruu and kill some BE.

Will give 250 reputation @ Shattered Sun Offensive

Found the plans after 6 or 7 kills around the Sunfury Hold area. Interestingly, these 68-69 mobs seemed to be harder to kill than most of the 70s on the Isle of Quel'Danas.

The quest is given out by Lord Torvos, who stands right pretty much right next to the Shattrath flight point. Talk to him to get this really easy quest.

The drop rate seems to be fairly high for the quest item. I got mine on the first go at Manaforge Coruu, but I'm guessing killing any of the Blood Elves in Netherstorm will do (seeing as that's what the quest log says anyway, go figure.)

Combine this quest with Blast the Gateway (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=11516) to make your life a little easier; that way you can simply head towards Manaforge Coruu and kill two birds with one stone.

Easiest 10g 10s I ever earned.

Scratch that about the gold. The other dailies are just as easy. Ten dollars say they get ridiculously tedious ridiculously fast, just like the previous dailies (though I can't really complain, it's darn decent money for minimal time and effort... epic flyer, here I come!)

I am currently doing this quest on first day of 2.4 being live. People saying above about the drop rate are either really lucky or just wrong. It took me over 50 kills to get my attack plans.

Then again, I could just be really unlucky.

Just to keep this page clean, can we just say that the drop rate varies and try not to get discouraged if the plans don't drop within the first 10 kills? Remember, these guys also drop Scryer rep items. It's some decent money.

I will typically pick up this quest alongside the mana cells quest in Bash'ir Landing. Manaforge Ara is just a short flight from Bash'ir, making it quite easy to do both of these quests with a minimum of unnecessary travel.

Some ideas for those completing this quest on a daily basis. Depending on your profession, many of the Sunfury Blood Elves you have to hunt in Netherstorm have some form of semi-rare recipe drop. Click the NPCs name to find out where to find them.

Blacksmithing
Sunfury Bloodwarder drops Plans: Greater Ward of Shielding.

Enchanting
Sunfury Researcher drops Formula: Enchant Weapon - Major Intellect.

Engineering
Sunfury Archer drops Schematic: Adamantite Arrow Maker.
Sunfury Bowman drops Schematic: Khorium Scope.

Tailoring
Sunfury Arcanist and Sunfury Arch Mage drop Pattern: Spellfire Bag.

These guys appear to have no special drops.
Sunfury Astromancer, Sunfury Blood Knight, Sunfury Captain, Sunfury Centurion, Sunfury Conjurer, Sunfury Flamekeeper, Sunfury Geologist, Sunfury Guardsman, Sunfury Magister, Sunfury Nethermancer, Sunfury Warp-Engineer, and Sunfury Warp-Master.

Droprate may vary as always in this game. Had to kill around 30ish mobs to get the drop, got it around Coruu as well. :) Good thing is that I got a few scryer rep-items while doing it. :)

Need to kill a few more times to make sure but seams to be a 100% from the
Sunfury Warp-Engineer on the steps at B'naar.

Edit 5 times in a row now the above mob in particular on the steps has dropped first time. Don't actually think that it will be as specific as this particular mob as there are other warp-engineers about but time will tell, indeed also for the named mob in general

Edit on the sixth try of gathering information to this theory the engineer on the steps did not drop, nor did 2 engineers or warp master nearby so i continued to kill any sunfury bloodelf. The plans did drop after 20 or so random kills but indeed from a warp-engineer.
Concluding that there is not a 100% drop from the named mob or the particular mob but with this information and a looking at how the loot information is changing as it updates for all the sunfury blood elfs I would sugest that there is a high drop rate from the Warp-Engineers, Warp-Masters and Captains, bearing in mind the loot is only available when on the quest. :)

You'll love this! Was killing sunfurys for the plans just prior to running Gruul's Lair with the guild and was NOT in the raid at the time. Killed a guy immediately after I got the request to join the raid group yet I HAD NOT accepted. When I looted the Sunfury Attack Plans showed up on the loot window via my shift-right-click loot it. After that I did ACCEPT the join raid group request. When I checked my inventory the Sunfury Attack Plans were NOT in my bags, nor was it on the corpse.

Another Blizz glitch? I would be shocked and appauled.

Unless this is fixed in the future, you may want to always "decline" the raid request if you are finishing up questing, even though have not accepted, it thinks you ahve.

The drop rate for this quest isn't too great. I'd say its about 20%. But if your scryres these guys drop Sunfury Signets and Arcane Tomes. They also drop alot of netherweave. So even though its not dropping for you your still farming up alot of gold and rep so I would recommend doing this quest

maybe the drop hate has now been made harder,

i got the drop off a random sunfury arcanist at 48,80 map co-ord's

Took me 50 kill or smth, to get the plan . besides that i got 34 netherweave cloth, and 1 sunfury signet. and some random grey items .

I've had the plans drop on the 1st kill, or as many as the 40th kill.

How long does this quest keep being repeateable, all the way to Exalted?

Don't give % numbers on the drop rate, its completely random. I just got mine today on my 45th kill, yesterday on my 1st, the day before i gave up because it took too long. My advice though, in my experience if it doesnt drop in the first 10 kills either leave it for the day or go to a different spot.

As mest7 mentioned, droprate seems to vary alot, three days in a row i got it on my third kill. Today I grinded for 17 minutes before it dropped. Good thing is during that time i got 2 arcanetomes.

This quest unlike like most daily can take up to like 15-20 minutes farming. Drop rate is near 5% for me, sometimes it drops after 5 kills, sometimes (like today) it took me over 50.
Still it s worth it, especially if you need SSO rep!

Drop rate seems to be the same regardless of which Blood Elves you kill, so it is easier to go after the ones around Manaforge B'naar in the SW than after the slightly-higher level BEs elsewhere.

Also, I have a sense that the drop rate on this may depend on how many people are going after it at the same time. Each time I got this in only a few drops, I saw no one else around. When it took much longer, there were others PCs in the area killing BEs, too.

Killed first mob at Mana Forge B'nar -- mob name - Sunfury Magister and I got the attack plan.

I usually get it within 5 minutes, but this time was like that of the poster below- I quit after 1.5 hours. No arcane tomes but 12 signets and 84 cloth. The grinding was fun and now I can make an 18 slot bag.

Maybe it's Blizz's way of saying I need to get more rep with...whoever you get rep with when you kill those BEs? I don't know. It's kinda funny though.

I heard these drop off of any of the blood elves in Netherstorm, however my 2nd kill was one of the named ones that are around all the forges if I remember correctly, and it dropped. I would shoot for one of them.

Got mine off of a Sunfury Astromancer. But from what i read it can drop off of just about any of them.. Some get it on the first drop and some don't .. Don't give up though.. You'll come out with a lot of sunfury signets and arcane tomes for AH or Alts.. Grats in advance guys

Went to Manaforge B'Naar and killed a few magisters. Turned around, decided to kill a Bloodwarder, and asked on General what the best thing to get it off of was. When I looted the Bloodwarder, there it was! The superstition part of it is that a Shaman had the same question, and as soon as he asked he got it. Worth a try? Quite possibly.

I've been doing this quest every day for the past week, and it usually doesn't take any longer than 10-20 kills. Trying it today and I've been killing for an hour and a half and it's still yet to drop. This has been enough time for me to get 132 netherweave, 3 Arcane tomes and 35 Signets. And yes I have the quest and no I didn't loot it without noticing. I just quit the game in anger to save me putting a fist through the monitor.

So even though people here are saying it drops quickly, be prepared for the chance you may be there for a while.

Ah, another stupid random drop Q... named BEs, magisters, captains, geologists, my bad luck to be on 40+ kills and still no drop. Isn't this game supposed to be fun? Why, then, does it rely so much on farming and grinding?

I normally don't gripe about this sort of thing, but EIGHTY PHUKIN MINUTES, BLIZZARD. And no drop. Would it be so hard to program the game so that each kill makes the drop chance a little higher? Hmm? Screw this quest.

If you fly over to 25.9, 69.3, just to the left of the Manaforge B'naar East entrance, you'll see a narrow shelf with three Sunfury Geologists and a Sunfury Warp-Master on it, in between the Sunfury Magisters in the depression below and Sunfury Bloodwarders on the rise above. If you land at the first Geologist and pull them back to the where the third Geologist is in the back the pull will chain-agro several of the Magisters from below and also prompt the Warp-Master to run up the cliff to get reinforcements from the Bloodwarders. It may take a moment for them all to arrive but you'll end up with about a dozen mobs to AoE down. I don't always get the attack plans on the first try but usually.

Edit: One thing to watch for is the elite Arcane Annihilator sometimes paths up onto the rise with the Bloodwarders and might chain with them if you time it wrong.

Go to Netherstorm and capture their attack plans. Any of the Sunfury blood elves up there could be in possession of the plans. Good luck, <name>.
