Magistrix Seyla is located at 58,18.

She gives you the item called Sizzling Embers, right click it to summon the quest pet. Then go kill the Fel Sparks in the surrounding area and as you do, the quest pet will continue to grow larger.

Eventually the pet will turn into am Unstable Fel Spark which is the same color as the Fel Sparks. When you reach this point, go and stand in the gateway new Magistrix Seyla and the pet will slowly move to the gateway and blow up which will complete the quest.

Please note that you don't need to have the kill count on those mob, standing near a dying Fel-spark is sufficient to growth your Living flare

Be careful with your charged Living Flare - I lost mine twice and had to start over. If you have to re-summon it, it is uncharged again.

The first time I lost it because I used my flying mount (it sticks around for a while, probably while you're close to the ground, but don't fly too high). The second time I aggroed Kazzak because a Nightmare Vine was too close :)

Some quick things to note about this quest:

To complete the quest, you need to take the Unstable Living Flare to the gate at 58,18, where you got teleported as part of the initial quest The Missing Magistrix (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=11526).
It takes about eight kills of Incandescent Fel Sparks for the Living Flare (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=24916) to be fully charged to its Unstable Living Flare (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=24958) state.
You do not need to land the killing blow, nor have tagged the Fel Spark to get the kill to register on your flare. You just need to be within ten yards or so.
The flare will not despawn if you mount on either a land or flying mount. You also do not need to dismount for the flare to trigger the explosion at the gate.
The flare will despawn and lose all charges when you get killed and you will need to start again.
The flare will also despawn and lose all charges if you summon a different minipet or one of the JCing trinket pets. My shaman uses Nightseye Panther, and the little panther it summons when I use the trinket was causing the pet to despawn.

Just a warning that if you fly away too fast from your flare you may loose it, have to re-summon and then collect 8 stacks again.
If you die you will also need to redo it.

This quest is very easy even if the area is crowded, because you don't have to kill any elementals as long as there are some being killed around you. When the elementals die, they give a charge to all of the living flares around them, even if you didn't aid in the kill. The flares turn unstable at 8 charges.

The flare keeps up with epic ground mounts as long as you're careful, but does not keep up with epic flying mounts. If you're using an epic flyer, make sure you take frequent pauses or just stick to the ground, or you will lose your flare and have to start all over.

This may have been fixed, but I've lost 3 flares to them getting stuck to the portal on the quest giver side. They don't make it all the way into the gateway and just sit there until you either go too far away or spawn a new flare. Very frustrating. Make sure you go towards the portal from the outside, not the quest giver side.

If an opposite faction member kills the elemental, and had it tagged, you will still get credit if you are within about 10 yards of it.

Note for slakers - get this quest, summon pet, summon a flying mount and get to 58.22 (make sure you are 41 yard above ground), go AFK. Come back 15 minutes later - your pet charged. =)

I personally think it's pretty weak that this demonic portal does not serve as a two-way teleporter to and from the Sunwell area. If the demons can use it, why can't we?

BEWARE!

All the JC trinkets wich summon pets (companions) will cause the despawn of your flare! I don't know if any other items will overwrite it too or not, but the Seaspray Albatros does.

This quest is bugged, this doesn't happen always, but it happened to me once and also to a friend of mine. While killing the Sparks, my living flare got stuck, or just wouldn't move anymore, if you too far away it will dissapear and also if you log to fix it. So if it gets stuck *bug*, you have no choice but to start killing Incandescent Fel sparks again, it's a good source of motes of fire, so it's not that bad of a bug.

I just did the quest too, any my flare got bugged on the portal and just stood there still doing nothing, until I resummoned a new flare, or got out of range from the flare. This is really annoying and I wanna insist you guys walk the portal in straight, not through the sides because he can get stuck and you might need to kill another 8 mobs then.

Easy quest, even though I'm a fire mage and they are immune to all my normal attacks, simply follow others who are on it, help them kill what they kill and you will both get credit, easy rep and a chance to get a badge of justice like I just did on my first try.

Can confirm you need to kill 8 with your pet summoned for it to be done.

It seems that you need to start over if you die during the quest as you have to re-summon your flare companion.

Do not run into the gateway with your unstable companion *right after* someone else does. you will not complete the quest. I guess you have to wait awhile?

I followed some alliance in (I am horde) and I did not destroy the gateway, I lost my companion flare, and could not get it back, even after abandoning the quest and starting over.

This quest has been pretty buggy for me. A few times on my way to the warp gate my Unstable Living Flare just despawned for seemingly no reason, and then when I finally did get him to the gate, he stopped moving about 5 yards from it and would go no further. I never did end up getting quest completion for it. Submitted a GM ticket 3 hours ago which still hasn't been responded to.

Use your Sizzling Embers to call companion

Kill Incandescent Fel Spark (Hellfire Peninsula -- Throne of Kil'Jaeden at 58,17) until your Living Flare companion has an 8 stack on him (I think its 8 kills). **Note** you can also be close to others who are killing it and get credit**

After you have those 8 charges on the Living Flare companion through the warp gate in front of the quest starter. Turn in quest at quest starter.

This doesn't appear to be in the comments but is really important: When your spark is green (fully charged) then WALK into the portal at 58, 18. Wait there for a few seconds and the spark will explode. If you click the action button you'll dismiss your spark and have to start all over, and if you don't wait long enough in the portal it will not complete either.

If you use an item/trinket that spawns a companion (Figurine - Shadowsong Panther) your fire orb will be replaced losing all stacks!

Blast the Gateway

Magistrix Seyla at the Throne of Kil'jaeden wants you to use the Sizzling Embers to summon a Living Flare and slay Incandescent Fel Sparks near it until it becomes an Unstable Living Flare. Return to the Legion Gateway with the Unstable Living Flare to destroy it.

We have to shut down this gateway to stop Legion reinforcements to the Isle of Quel'Danas.

Take these embers, they contain one of my creations: a living flare. It is designed to act as a powerful destructive force - as long as it has been provided enough energy.

Find the fel sparks that wander the area and slay them near the living flare. The flare will grow in power each time, until it becomes unstable.

Once you've achieved this bring the flare to the gateway. It will know what to do.
