With this quest, you have to equip it, and then USE it (put on your bar or something and click it) when near the altar. This wasn't as obvious as it should have been to me. I'm sure it was just a recto-cranial-inversion.

When you equip the headpiece at the altar, five enemies spawn and begin attacking you. They each have about 2700 health.

You may be able to pull less than all five at once if you equip the headpiece before approaching the altar, but I didn't try it.

The adds would be the "Remnant of ___"'s.

They don't hit hard, low life, AND the use of the trinket won't be interrupted by them. They deaggro once the use effect is complete.

fwiw, note that the item is a trinket. Seeing the "Unfinished Headpiece" part of it, I could swear it was a head-slot item. When I didn't see it there, I boggled at it and couldn't find the item anywhere.

I went around the opposite side of the alter as mentioned - near to the green lava, equiped the trinket, used it and didnt aggro anything.

Don't bother equiping this when you are on your flying or land mount. You will not get the equip buff needed to see the echos, even if you dismount. I've even had it crash WoW on me.

I also suggest doing The Hand of Gul'dan (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10681) when doing this quest, as the needed NPC is infront of the Altar.

It equips into the TRINKET slot instead of HEAD (comes from the name - headpiece, so i was a bit confused in the beginning). So look there :D

Here is the final say:

Fly to and land on the pillar at these coordinates: 43.1 45.3
Then equip the item.

Equip headpiece as trinken and when you stay near Gul'dan, click on trinken. (Headspiece, v inventáři, když na to kliknete nasadí se to jako trinken, potom stačí ,,zapnout", ale musíte stát v tom modrém kruhu.

All you need to do is equip the headpiece as a trinket before walking up to him. Next fight the ghost shadows. When that is over right click on the trinket in your char window. :)

I thought headpiece disappeared from inventory, but it equips itself as a trinket automatically, just use it to complete quest!

As soon as you equip the trinket, they all turn red. BUT if you're standing far enough away (like on the other side of the altar) you won't aggro them.

Bugged for me or I wasn't doing it right. I did everything the quest told me to do, equiped the staff, fought the ghosts, but then the NPCs just babbled the same conversation over and over again, I waited 5 mins, more ghosts came, waited 5 more mins, more ghosts came, same dialogue repeated, 5 mins later ghosts came. I repeated this for 30 minutes until I got pissed and abandoned the quest, staff never became energized. Oh well, f u blizzard.

all attack at once.

Kill the adds and use the head piece.

had the same prob with this quest being bugged...i actually dropped it and retook the quest again a few days later and still wasn't working :o(

I have accepted and abandoned this quest 10 times. I do not have the trinket in my inventory or in my bank..... I have never recieved a trinket for this quest EVER.!

I reported this issue to a gm over 3 times and not once has it been fixed yet.

quest is not bugged, equip the trinket befor you go to him, make sure cooldown is gone, walk to him ... open char window and click it again wene you are close enough . the shadows attack you but just stay and they go away wene casttime is over ... QUEST COMPLETE :) LOC is correct

This is also an Alliance quest.

When you go to use the head, it equips as a trinket, and 4 ghost guys start attacking you. Fortunately, for level 69s they have fairly low HP.

Just did this as alliance and the ghosts never attacked. Just used the trinket, quest complete, turn in!
It doesn't get any easier than that.

Click the trinket when you are there. As a 69 shaman, I did aggro the remants of Pride. They are easy to kill.

What I do not see anyone saying is you have to right click the trinket when equipt. Punkett was having same issue as others in teh preveious posts.

You dont even have to kill the shadow dudes, just run up next to Gul'Dan and use the trinket. It wont get interupted from the dmg you take.

I love playing alliance. For the last few parts of this chain, when you guys have said mobs attack...

The only fights Ive had were from the wildlife running from quest to quest. 67 Rogue ftw

right click the headpiece in your inventory. it goes into your first trinket slot. then right click that trinket near gul'dan . easy.

Equip the Unfinished Headpiece, travel to the Altar of Damnation, and use it while standing near Gul'dan. When the headpiece is energized, return to Parshah in the Magma Fields.

Descrizione

The staff is nearly finished!

All that remains is to imbue the headpiece with power flowing from the echoes of Gul'dan in this accursed place. To the east, near the Fel Pits and south of the Deathforge, is the Altar of Damnation.

There, fragments of Gul'dan's past are trapped. When you carry the unfinished headpiece of the staff into the area around the altar, don't be surprised if some of the entities react to it. You will be carrying a dangerous object with strong connections to the cataclysm.
