The whelps are found in the cave at 31,32. If you run out of whelps, are its being over-farmed, you can tread on the eggs to spawn some more.

Fastest and easiest way is treading on the eggs, which are found outlining the inside of the cave.

Dieng is not a good idea here, seeing as you will spawn back at Ruuan Weald.

Be sure not to die! It spawns you at Thunder Stronghold and will take you atleast 15mins to walk back to your body.

I would seriously recommend doing this with at least one other player. Take the above comments about not dying VERY SERIOUSLY as the run is ridiculously long.

Ye the run is stupid! Take a friend with or kill _everyhing_ you see! Don't try and skip anything, if you aggro to many and die... have fun with the 7 min run.
As someone else said, easiest is to step on the eggs and net them.

It's also a good idea not to turn in this quest until you finish the Maxnar quest line (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10748), or you use up the net's charges. Until you do, the net still works and comes in handy for skipping combat with those annoying whelps in the cave.

The best way by far to do this quest is to do it while you're on 'Meeting at the Blackwing Coven'. You can gather the 5 costume scraps, go talk to the general for the quest, then while you're friendly with all of the mobs, you can capture the whelps, and nothing will aggro to you. I did it in under 3 minutes. Best way by far imo.

Yeah it really sucks to die there! Don't know if anyone else had this problem but after my costume ran out my pets attack bar went away. Ran all the way back and rezzed and attack bar still not there. Some sort of glitch?

well i think its not bad for a rogue, as for a Night elf just stealth and make sure that your far from an aggro range, break stealth by casting the net and then resume stealth by shadowmelding and wait for the stealth cooldown then use stealth once again.

Thats the only idea I did and it didnt work properly. the cave coords are 32,33

But Walking from Sylvanaar to the cave when you die?! thats not cool, If i abandoned it and did other quests is better than wasting time Ressurecting.

I am a lvl 67 troll rouge and i used stealth into the cave. I got sub specc so i can sap and return to stealth.

But i regret it. Well inside the cave you can take like 4-5 of thoose welps. Then you get mega agro from all corners in the cave. And i see that death isent a opption if you dont like ghost runs :)

LOL. How come no one has bothered to mention that there is a level 70 elite dragon called Blackscale flying around this cave?

I nearly flew right into him while I was busy counting the wrymcults around the cave from the air in druid flying form. Darn near gave me a heart attack right there.

As of patch 2.1.0 using the net will remove the disguise on you. It is no longer possible to catch these whelps without any aggro by wearing the disguise.

Also, make sure you have inventory space when you try to catch these things. I ended up using too many charges on the net before I realized my bag space was the reason I wasn't getting credit for capturing them and had to drop and the quest and pick it up again.

Well the cave entrance is at : 31.32 ..but the "blackwhelp" are inside the cave the best spot for me was 34.34!! Gl

I had the net in my shortcut bar and received an Invalid Target error, I had to open my bag and click on the net for it to work.

I had a problem with this quest. As soon as I accepted it, it disappeared and told me that I had already completed it. I contacted a GM and they said they have a work-around and would get me to people who can take care of this. They poofed and I really have no idea what that means, but I'm hoping it will be fixed soon.

Edit: Was contacted by a Senior GM. They had me log onto an ALT while looking into the matter. A few minutes later they asked me to come back and try to get the quest again, and I could! So, yeah, if you have this problem, contact a GM immediately. :)

Make sure you have an space in your bag to store the whelps once you capture them, I noticed before after I used too many charges and had to restart the quest.

PLEASE NOTE:

If the quest is bugged for you, giving you the error "You have already completed this quest", I found out from petitioning a GM that it is due to the Brewfest quests. If you participated in the brewfest quests (the GM did not specify which one(s)) you will get this error, and a GM will need to escalate your ticket to a senior GM to have it fixed for your character.

In my case, the GM tried to argue with me saying that I *had* already done the quest, but after some persistance and a threat to talk to his manager, he researched the issue and found out what the problem was. You'd do well to tell them ahead of time in the GM ticket.

I heard it was a long walk if i was to die, so as a 68 hunter any doubt your pet isn't going to make it, run back a little and feign. If you know how to pull you shouldn't have any problems with this quest, i only had to feign once, the entrance to the tunnel has lots of mobs in agro range, you end up pulling 3-4 at a time.

just did this, recent patch put a gy in the area, so no more ridiculous death run. also, you cant capture whelps while costumed anymore. if you try, it removes the costume like it does if you mine. but it's still easy, i got 10 costume scraps, costumed into a less crowded room, cleared it, quickly captured whelps, waited a minute or two for them to respawn, killed mobs that respawned, got the rest of my whelps, recostumed and did the meeting quest. Combine with Maxnar Must Die. Enter cave, take a right down the path, over the bridge, and just past the guy you costumed in to talk to before, there is a sweet patch of ground with only 1 mob, a couple of whelps and several whelp eggs. Once you've completed Whelps, just take a hard right and you'll see 2 dragonkin. Pull them one by one (easy kills) and just behind them stands Maxnar (again, an easy kill).

This was kind of funny, today on Drak'thul, my character got DC'd immediately after I turned this quest in(the server was having some problems.) Anyway, when I logged back on, I had the gold and the pants in my inventory, but the whelps and the net were still there, and Inkling had the quest above her head, supposedly unaccepted. About 34g from this quest alone :) /win

This quest is kinda hard, since cave and entrance to the cave is very crowded, so expect every fight to be with at least 2 mobs. And.....whatever you do, DON'T DIE ! You'll res at Thunderlord stronghold (horde), and that's a really really, long way from cave

Not sure what everyones problem is, this quest was very easy. Walked into the cave, walked over all the eggs I saw, collected the whelps. The respawn on the eggs is very fast, so you can stay in the first room. Hardly any mobs spawn there either, just be careful not to aggro the whelps on the upper platform thing, they will train as they path to you.

Once you get this quest, http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?source=live;wquest=10722, you can use a costume to make yourself friendly to the mobs in the cave. You will need to kill a few outside the cave before you are close enough to use it. Then you will be friendly to all the cultists and the whelps, but you will still be able to trap them.

There seem to be only 6 whelps flying around at one time, though I did not try opening the eggs as someone mentioned. I got 6 while doing the above mentioned quest and got the rest when I returned for the next quest in that chain.

If you're using the disguise, don't mine. You'll lose it and have to get another 5 pieces.

I just had 3 mobs spawn on me and I died. Currently making the run. This beats Fei Fei as the worst quest of TBC.

The whelps are located inside the cave, can be done quite easily, just trap them and move onto the next, you can disturb the eggs to spawn more whelps.

there is a much easier way to finish this quest when you get in the cave. Don't just roam around looking for whelps to capture, walk over the eggs and one will come out, then capture it.

Took me about 2 minutes to complete the quest this way.

don't compete with someone for the whelps, if you both throw a net on one you've wasted a net and you only have two spares. if you don't get 10 in 12 tries you have to quit the quest and try again

run up to an egg until it breaks, back up 10 paces, the egg whelps have a shorter aggro range than the others so 10 paces back and it doesn't attack you, throw a net on it. rinse repeat.

This quest is waste of time and nerves. Cave is too crowded, if you die you'll appear as ghost in Sylvanaar and will have to ress at graveyard or walk as ghost for over 20 minutes.

I agree was easy to complete when combined with "Meeting at the Blackwing Coven" quest..... provided you are wearing the disguise you can fashion from x5 scraps.... easy to grind outside the cavern....

With a little running, you can even goto the back of the caves (around 33,33) and buy things from the Wyrmcult Provisions vendor.... some nice toys and potions :D

Are you stupid or just not a warrior? Of all the quests to this point, this is the ONLY one to have a warrior plate piece instead of a freakin' pally piece. If you are a warrior and skip it, you are just cutting your own throat.

Died once,
What I did was Start killing on the left side, one or 2 walk in and out of the cave, just work up to the cave slowly, try to pull your mobs a little bit, because at the begining they sometimes group up.

Once u have the left side cleared, work on the 2 walking in and out of the cave,

Once u r in the cave there is one guy right when u go in. Kill him, then there is another behind him, take him there shouldn't be any adds with him,

Next the cave will bend to the left,

Kill the one at the bottom of the himm, and then it should be all single pulls.\

For the flying welps u can use the net on them when they are attacking u. once netted the attacks stop. Also there are brown eggs on the ground, if you un up to them it will hatch a wyrm, u can snare it too. omce all 10 are clooected i justed stoned out. wasnt that hard, If you go slow any one should be able to do it.

Do yourself a favour and don't bother. This is a nightmare quest if you die and there are way to many mobs in the cave. Skip it.. honestly just skip it.

I ran around doing the quest, had two graveyard runs do to alli rogues ganking while I was fighting. Then on top of that, my net ran out of charges so I couldn't get anymore whelps =O

I was stuck at 9 whelps and couldn't complete the quest.

All you have to do is collect five from ANY Wyrmcultist and right click them to make one costume, use the costume in the cave (coords 33,35) all enemies in the cave except the Dragonkin and boss will be green to you and will not aggro. You will be able to do this quest in under 3 minutes.

Can confirm the quest is still bugged.

I turned in the prereq list, was reading the quest dialog for this one, hit accept and I got a message saying "You have already completed that quest" and when I talked to the NPC again they would not give me the quest (It was as if I completed it, but never did it so no exp/gold/items).

I'll never do this quest again with any other character.

- If you wipe, you're stuffed. By the time you get back, they'll most likely have regened. As a hunter, I'm able to deal with this better than most (res & either freezetrap or immediately feign death), but after three tries I just gave up, accepted res sickness & started from scratch. Would've been moderately do-able with pots, but I didn't happen to have any with me.

- There's a very high chance you'll be mobbed. I could handle 2 or 3 at a time with no worries. The first time I died, one of the whelps had got away and brought back 4 zealots & 2 acolytes (plus the whelp). It's hard to feign death when two of your attackers are shielded and you're airbourne halfway down the corridor (literally - they had me airbourne virtually non-stop from the pillars to where the provisioner regens... to be honest, it was kinda impressive).

- Depending on how many people are in the area, the regen rate can be utterly obnoxious. I killed one in the entrance corridor, got mobbed by 4, feigned death & had the one I'd just killed regen on top of me in about a minute (according to the timer, it took about 55 seconds from when I feigned).

This quest is crap - go do something simpler & less frustrating like soloing an elite 2 levels higher than you.

PS. The other quest - 'Meeting at the Black Coven' - is much less irritating though, considering you just need to make the disguise from drops looted outside the cave & then run through the lot of them.

Don't let the people whining about how hard this quest is discourage you. I was able to solo this in about 15min as a holy priest not using any disguise. There is no need to go deep into this cave to get all the eggs/whelps.

Due to a Technical Issue if you do not accept the quest and it gets canceled in any way you will be unable to get it back... if this occurs DO NOT ask a GM for help cause their database will have you marked down as completing the quest yet you received neither XP, Gold reward, or Item reward.

are flying around pull them with a range , thowing weapon net them

Broke my F***king power button on my computer cuz of this quest. I had to GY run TWICE and then died when ressed so I held it in to turn it off (obviously too hard cuz I was annoyed) and I *!@#ing pushed it through.

If you're coming here to get the legs for 'mog, and Samia Inkling doesn't open up to you with a questline, you will need to first complete a couple quests with Mr. Tauren Man aka Tree Warden Chawn who is standing right next to her. The quests are extremely simple (talk with a guy that takes about 10 minutes to walk to your location, then kill a few mobs). Once you complete those quests for him, Miss Inkling will open up and talk to you.

First, there's the quest Poaching from Poachers, where you'll need to kill a few Wyrmcult Poachers to obtain 5 nets.
After you turn that quest in, she'll give you Whelps of the Wyrmcult where you will travel to Raven's Wood (underneath Forge Camp Wrath) and you'll go into that cave and net some Wyrmcult Blackwhelp whelps. You just target and net them by clicking the pre-made net hotkey, or making your own hotkey from the Blackwhelp Net net in your inventory.

I doubt you will run out of whelps, but if you do, there are eggs all over the place and like other users have stated, if you walk on top of, or even near the egg, it will hatch a new whelp. There's no gathering them up or anything, it's automatic. It's a really quick quest.

I decided to finish out Mr. Tauren Man's questline, which is pretty fun and takes place in the same location, where you eventually gather Costume Scraps Costume Scraps from the mobs outside and inside the cave ( it literally says to gather enough scraps - enough scraps is 5 ) and when you have enough, you just right click them in your bags and you'll magically have an Overseer Disguise Overseer Disguise.

The cool thing to note here is that, while you are in the disguise, you can see a vendor/repair person at the left inside the cave. He sells several standard items, but two in particular of note is the Wyrmcultist's Cloak Wyrmcultist's Cloak which is a medium length dark grey coat with some fur(?) at the top. Additionally, he sells Orb of the Blackwhelp Orb of the Blackwhelp which cost about 2g.

Now, whenever I completed Miss Inkling's quests, I didn't get the option to choose other types of armor, I was only offered the legs, which, I think may be newish to me, a returning player from wotlk, this new system of actually giving you what you can use in a quest... What on earth. ^^

Side Note: I gained Cenarion Expedition Rep through the quests.

There should be an abundance of them flying around inside their cavernous base, as well as a number of eggs, which if you get close to them will likely hatch.

Please, <name>, take the net and capture a handful of them alive for me.

Find them by heading west across the Wyrmskull Bridge and heading through the Wyrmskull Tunnel. Follow the path to its end past Grishnath and the Raven's Wood.
