Currently the fermented seed beer keg is somewhat broken and you might not be able to poison it right away. You might have to move around the keg a bit spamming the poison button to get it to poison.

I know it might be dumb but you are not supposed to click the kegs, there is a "poison kegs" action in the pet bar you get.
Just thought I would mention this since I had the pet bar disabled because of my addons, which took me a while to figure out!

This was a fun quest, Few notes. Make sure your pet bar is working because you will need it.

What you need to do is travel to 56,29 and look to the left near the ground there is a small cave, and use the kodohide drum. Once you do that your guy turns stealth it seems but still can be seen by mobs and possible ally so put yourself close to the cave as possible.

Once you are the pet you need to run into the camp which is right beside you if you are facing the cave. You have to watch out because the mobs can see your pet so you need to run around them carefully.

Kind of annoying quest, the mobs can se the little marmot from a pretty big distance and you cant run away from them, if you do they'll go attack your character instead!

Also, the item is on a 5min cooldown, so everytime you fail, you'll have to wait for 5minutes...

And, as a warlock, your normal pet dismisses when you use the item, which can be pretty annoying too!

Ok when i tried the quest again i completed it, its very easy just dont walk close to any mobs, you don't need coords for the keg's they are easy to find and they are outside the huts.

I suggest getting the quest "Crush the Bloodmaul Camp" while working on this one. The reason is because the area is full of Warlocks and Maulers, just clear the area out first then transform into the rat so you don't have to worry about getting spotted or killed. It was annoying for the 5 minute cooldown if you get spotted so just go ahead and clear the place out first. As mentioned, the wolves see stealth so just kill them too. The Fermented one seemed bugged at first but you need to move to the right side of the keg and do it, I guess because there is a wolf right there to pull aggro if you get out too far.

I just went through the camp and KILLED EVERYTHING THAT WOULD GET IN MY WAY FIRST and then quickly morphed into a critter and went after the kegs. No acorns necessary.

Acorns are MAGIC. You can spam it on all the alliance in the area to screw them up! They are casting frostbolt on an ogre? Turn them the other way! The spell cancels and they die!

I just ran around with my critter and used the acorn toss. Your main character stays stealthed untill you dismiss your pet.

Your Marmot pet has four abilities: Attack (I don't recommend attempting to fight), Stealth (lasts until cancelled, the other abilities don't break it), Acorn Toss (like Rogue's Distract ability), and Poison Keg (should be obvious what you use this for; doesn't break stealth).

As you stand facing the marmot "cave", the camp with the kegs is to your right. I recommend scouting the locations before you tame your Marmot, but even if you don't the kegs are easy to find. You can clear a few mobs from the camp before taming the marmot, if you are concerned about the marmot being spotted, but with its Stealth on, you will be just fine.

Overall, an easy and fun quest.

When I tried this quest, I only had 3 options on my pet bar, and the poison keg option was missing tired 3 times and finally dropped the quest. Could have been fun if it had worked :(

I would just like to say that this quest was rather fun. My first Marmot took a dirt nap and I had to wait for the cool down to use again. You can avoid this like stated by killing some of the mobs inside. I would further suggest checking out where the kegs are first, so you dont have to find them on "the fly" (Might as well kill some of the mobs)

The Marmot Den is at 56,29 if you are facing it, (NW) I would suggest running the marmot clockwise starting at the keg in the NW corner. If you get detected while in stealth your pet can take a decent beating before dying, so its possible to posion all three even if you get seen.

The quest, Crush the Bloodmaul Camp is a nice quest to do at the same time. (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10784)

The Quest was bugged for me, I would successfully poison the first two kegs but couldn't Poison the keg of Fermented Seed Beer, i would press normally like the other two and id see the green poison but it doesnt say "Completed". Could someone help me out please? any reccomendations? i tried abandoning the Quest and re-logging... I really want that reward from the follow-up Q "Showdown"...

Well what can i say... quest doesnt work for me... if i drum a marmot appeared but i couldnt controll it, even better it went in stealth and walked a straight like and then dissepeared.... ive send a ticket so i hope they can help.

Was a fun quest indeed.

It seems to me that characters with "stances", well, Warrior in my case, has to be in their default stance when calling out the marmot, this would be Battle Stance in a Warrior's case.

I think I tried to call out the marmot while being in Berserker Stance three or four times with the result of my character going "invisible" and the marmot running away without being my pet.

Would be nice if anyone can "confirm" this or give some more input, not sure if it's only me it has happened to or if there's more with the same problem, I reported it anyways.

I can also note that be careful if you are facing towards the marmot den when you sound the drum. I hit auto-run by accident and my marmot ran *through* the big rock spike and then fell through the world into dusty brown nothingness then died.

Just a cautionary note that at least one person has come across a geography bug with these marmots.

This quest appears to be bugged as of the 2.1 patch. When you attempt to use the marmoset's Stealth skill, it stealths your character instead of the marmoset. The only way around this is to clear the area first and quickly use the marmoset to poison the kegs before respawns happen.

Be sure you first find the marmot cave. Next, kill the guarding ogres at the entrance, go in and find all kegs. Kill any ogre or dog close to them, and then go back to the cave. Use the marmot and poison all kegs. Also, I never tried to poison a keg while in battle, since I killed all ogres around them. Second, your marmot got about 3000 health or something, so dont be afraid if you get aggro. Anyway, its a funny quest, to bad for Alliance. :)

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed but if you're allied with all the Ogres in Blade's Edge from that quest chain that leads to Ogri'la then you and your marrmot can freely walk around without any ogre interference.

A nice tactic is just killing everyone around the kegs if u dont care much for sneaking around with the marmot. Remember not too loot the corpses and they wont respawn while u are poising the barrels.

Bugged for me 8-3-07. No pet, used the drum my guy turned invis, no marmot, no pet bar. Went in to first keg and tried ctrl1-6 with no luck, shift+p nothing. Nothing. Nothing ;)

Make sure you confirm the keg has been poisoned before leaving it. On the fermented seed keg, I saw the poison gas appear 3 times but only on the 4th attempt was the keg actually poisoned. The other two kegs worked fine.

Also, if you've done the Ogri'la quests and become King/Queen of the Ogres, they will be neutral to your marmot as well, so no need to stealth.

Alright, first off the cords are right, but, its not a cave, i didnt know wtf a marmot was so i was running around looking for a cave, its accualy a lil rabbit den thing off to the side, once you enter from coming down the hill, just take a left and its in a wall on the other side of that road thing

I think you can't poison the kegs during combat. I was spotted and tried to poison as a last resort, but didn't get any credit for it.
Also, the marmot is quite strong, it can deal 100-200 dmg while attacking. I even killed an imp hahaha.

There's a brown marmot critter at the cave, prolly to indicate to people whats a marmot.

Anyway upon killing it, another one immediately respawns. Basically, I made a heap of dead marmots at the cave.

Nothing related to the quest, just interesting.

this quest is very very bugged. The first attempt i made ( paladin) i was unable to poison 2 kegs. the second and third time i attempted it , i stealthed but didnt get the pet bar or any indication that id taken controll of a marmot so i just abandoned it. Seeing how the last quest of the line is still bugged, its not worth it.

I think that patch 2.2 has brought us another bug. When I stand near the kegs with my marmot, and near enough to be able to use them, it says, 'I'm out of range' while I'm pressing up against it! I thought 'let's try it myself' and yes, the first keg (Ripe Moonshine) I could poison. But the second one (Green grog or whatever it's called) I could keep clicking on with nothing happening. With the last one I did get a castbar but nothing happened when it was finished. I don't see what I'm doing wrong (and no, the marmots REALLY don't work) so I suppose this is a bug.

A side note for this quest. Make sure that you are standing directly next to the barrels, touching them. If you dont and try to poison them the it will make the sound and animation that you are, but you wont recieve any credit for doing so.

As of 12/6 this quest appears to be bugged once again. I control a marmot and go directly up to poison the keg, but I get a "You are too far away" message no matter where I'm standing.

The quest is sorta bugged but still works. When you become the Marmot you get a bar and one action is posion keg. Well if you run around the keg stealthed spamming the button it works.

I completely bypassed this chain because it was so long and I had just hit 70...

I found myself back up here often for cooking dailies and decided to do the Circle of Blood quests as well as the Ogri quests - one of them, can't remember, which actually gives you neutrality with ALL of the Ogres in Blade's Edge, thus making this and the 10/5 Mauler/Warlock quest laughable :)

*** If you're level 70 and just grinding Blade's Edge quests for gold or because you're anal like me, I highly recommend doing the Circle of Blood/Ogri chains first, it will make the rest of the Ogre-related quests pure joy :)

There is a lot of confusion in the posts for the quest so here it the correct info to complete it.

Goto the Marmot Den - 56,29
Use the Kodohide Drum to control a Marmot, You know have pet toolbar, click the Steath Button on the Pet Bar

Goto each of the 3 keg locs below, at each one you must click the Poison Keg button on your Pet Bar. It is mildy confusing as you will see a greyed out cog icon while mousing over the kegs.

55.3,28.3 - Ripe Moonshine Keg
55.3,26.0 - Green Spot Grog Keg
55.9,23.1 - Fermented Seed Beer Keg.

I found the Marmot den at 56.6,29.2, like the post below.

After I took control of the Marmot I headed to the camp just north of the den and found the three kegs.

When I clicked on the keg icon on my toolbar to poison the keg I would get a sound and an effect on the keg each time but one keg took two "poisonings" and another three. I also moved closer/around in between poisoning but I don't think that had anything to do with it.

So click/poison each keg a few times till the quest shows that keg as poisoned!

Just a fair warning.. your marmot has its own stealth and distract. The idea behind this quest is to be a rogue for 5 minutes and sabotage the kegs.

But, if you're a class that already has stealth, if you click it on your action bar, your marmot isn't stealthed and they will aggro on you. Be sure to click the stealth on the PET BAR.

This quest is rediculous and doesn't work as of 7/8/2008. I use the drum on the marmot which works fine. I get no pet bar so of course everything sees me since I can not stelth nor poison the kegs. I tried it without the pet bar and only get a grey wheel at kegs. Says too far away as I'm getting beat on by wolves, ogres etc. Yes, I do turn into the damn marmot but without the pet bar, you can't stelth. I tried the above macro someone said to use to be able to toggle the imaginary pet bar. That does nothing either. Pisses me off that Blizz hasn't fixed this since I can see by other posts it is a long lived bug. So as of 7/08/2008, this quest sucks and can't be done. Tried it 3 times, no pet bar ever.

For those WITHOUT Coords
Outsite the bloodmaul camp ( in middle of map ) theres a little cave ( not entranceable )move to it and use your KODOHIDE DRUM and you get to a squirrel, move around in the Bloodmaul place and use the Poision at the kegs :)
For those WITH coords
The den : 56,29
Green Spot Grok : 55.25
Ripe Moonshire : 55.28
Fermented Seed Beer : 55.23

Tip : Use the stealthmode of the pet, just go from one keg to another :)

Bloodmaul camp with the beers is to the north-east (if you're facing the marmots, it's to your right and forward). In the camp, one keg is between the immediately first on left building and the next one, then there's one between that building and the next, and then one to the right of the previous building.

I believe that this quest can be done without clearing the camp, but it's helpful to do so anyhow in conjunction with the "Crush the Bloodmaul Camp" quest, which has you..... kill all of those guys; and also you get to scout where the kegs are.

The kegs sparkle and have gear openers but if you open them nothing happens, you don't get a drink :(

Mark sure that you target a marmot before using the drum, or you stealth and are "hiding with the marmots" and incur the 5 minute c/d.

The wolves see right through the stealth, but the bloodmaul don't.

If you aggro, make a run for it, the marmot has a lot of health, and either escape or just go poison the barrels while under attack - it's not channeled.

confused.
turned into a marmot, aggro'd one of the ogre's by accident and it started to hit me. it then stopped targeting me and target my actually character which it proceded to run towards, so i paniced and dismissed the marmot, only to be taken back to my body in a kind of ghost form, where i appear to be stealthed and can't aggro anything until removing the affect. not bad if you wanna get somewhere dificult. you can mount up and everything, but nothing can see you for 3 minutes i think :)

Like all minion quests you might need to dismiss/sacrifice your pet/demon for things to run smoothly. I had no pet bar as a Marmot until I remembered this old 'undocumented feature'; restarted quest without my demon and everything worked fine :)

Teneis que ir a 56 29. Ahi hay una madriguera de perritos de la pradera. Usais el tambor y controlais a 1. Teneis que buscar los 3 barriles y utilizar la habilidad de envenenar de la mascota. ^^

Los barriles estan al lado de una torre, entre dos casas y un poco más alante en otra torre.

I'm pretty sure the stealth is now broken... I click it, and does stealth me, but then instantly unstealths and sets the 2 minute cooldown. I suicide ran at the kegs since you can still poison while being attacked. Worked for me.

Go north of the Circle of Blood until there are 2 towers shown on your map (left side of ravine). On the LEFT side of the road is a small gray 'cave' with marmots in front of/in/on it. This is where you use the drum.

If you are standing in front of the cave looking at it, there is an entrance to the Bloodmaul Camp to your RIGHT. If you go straight back (slightly to the left) is the first barrel, on the other side of the building straight in is the second one (behind 2 ogres talking by a bonfire), and the third one is on the other side of the camp (near the second tower marked on the map) in the back near another ogre and a wolf.

I agree with prior posts that you might want to clear out the wolf and the ogre closest to the building by the bonfire first as they can make this more difficult.

You will get a pet action bar JUST ABOVE your action bar with an option to attack, throw acorns to distract mobs, stealth and (of course) poison the barrels. Use this stealth when in marmot form around mobs.

My 67 rogue went through all the motions on this quest & found not only the old broken --- stealth doesn't work --- but a new broken as well : the 3rd keg couldn't be poisoned, although the first 2 kegs were poisoned just fine. I have 3 70s --- warlock, hunter, shaman --- & all have done this quest just fine, but since I forget things easily & this is a peculiar (fun!) quest anyway, I came here before trying it a 4th time & read about stealth being broken, which was news to me. Sure enough, though, stealth was broken for me, too --- it worked before on the other toons --- & I reported it, then did what the GM said & abandoned & retried. Same result, no stealth, so on a 3rd try, I cleared (as a rogue) the 4-5-6 mobs necessary to do the quest without stealth, poisoned the first 2 kegs & then couldn't poison the 3rd. The 3rd keg fumes for a half second & the whole poison sound effect occurs, but no quest log update, no completion message, so it's just plain broken. I reported this, also, & went through it all again with a GM in tow --- same result. The GM said this is the first time anyone has heard of the 3rd keg refusing poison, & that they will look into it. Meanwhile, it's just a plain old broken quest. Oh well. Hope they fix it, cause being a stealthed marmot is FUN! lol ...

the kegs are in the western part of the camp, and 2 of them are near eachother towards the north. do not run near your body at the den while in the squirrel form. your body will aggro and it will put you into combat as your character and then you will have to wait 5 minutes for the cooldown on the drum. make sure no stupid noobs come by and aggro crap around your body also cause it will also reset. GG

my suggestion is to clear some of the camp.

you can poison the keg on your pet bar do not try to click them.

The exact location for the marmot cave (which is actually as large a an ogre), is 56,4 29,3 and its grey, compared to the brown area around and east of the southest tower behind a huge rock.

Correction as of 7.10.2008 you do not pay attention.

I struggled to figure this out for 2 minutes.
There is no pet bar, it is your active spells bar.
This is not a summoned pet, it is a disguise.
You have 3 abilities, stealth, throw acorn and poison keg.

When you approach keg there is a grey wheel and no matter where you go around the keg it will always say not in range.

You have to be within 5 yards of the keg and use ability poison keg. For me it didnt even break stealth so I don't know what the throw acorn would be needed for.

Easy as pie. In, out, and your body doesnt come back until you dispell the drum effect.

Figured it out finally. For anyone else who doesn't pat attention to detail you get another little bar above your normal action bar for the pet.

The thing you need to play the drum on is OUTSIDE before you enter the camp against the walll kinda looks like a pile of rocks with little creatures around it its 56,29...Good luck!

wierd quest

took me a couple of time to figure out what to do... but I FINALLY got it.
what I did:

first clear out the camp by killing all the ogres and wolves

stand in front of the marmit cave and target a marmet (doesn't matter which one)

use the drum to control the marmet (you'll 'become' the marmet and your toon will stealth)

run over to the first keg and click on the poison on your action bar (it looks like a keg w/ an X on it), then click on the keg

repeat on the next 2 kegs...

When I got to the 3rd keg it said I was too far away so I started over w/ the drum and went straight to the 3rd keg and clicked... it finally gave me credit.

I found the "cave" of NPC's called Brown Marmot EXACTLY @ 56.4, 29.2

It's more a nest than a cave.

Coordinates seem to be off from the other comments. Questie also appears to be VERY off with the locations. Also only the Green Spot Grog keg is interactable, so the others show up as scenery. The kegs are left/mid/right of the small one story huts.

Currently unable to complete as horde (is there an Alli version?). Only one of the barrels gives a "gear" tool tip and even then it says you are "too far away" when right next to it....

I checked my inventory and other than the drum, I have no other items (i.e. poison) to use...

For Classic TBC this is what I found:
First: Marmot cave just outside Bloodmaul Camp at approx 56/29 - left click the Kodohide Drum to summon the marmot (which you become)
Second: You will get a pet bar with options. THIS is where you will find your ability to "poison" the barrels
Third: IGNORE the questie markers - they're WAY OFF
Fourth: You will find barrels at 55/28, 55/26 AND 56/23 - all quite close to each other, on either side of the 2 huts behind the marmot den (they don't all have the gear symbol)

Lastly, if you don't complete it in the 6 minutes, you'll pop out of marmot form right back at the marmot den. You can click the drum again.

1. Pick up Crush the Bloodmaul Camp /Crush the Bloodmaul Camp! with this quest.
2. Scout the camp for the barrels before controlling the marmot.
3. You need to use the item on your pet action bar to poison the barrels.
4. Note that wolves can see through your stealth, so kill any that are blocking your path to the barrels- the drums have a 6 min cd so if you die early you will be frustrated. If your marmot does die, feel free to take out your frustration on the mobs needed for Crush the Bloodmaul Camp whilst waiting for the cd.

The Smallest Creatures

Use the Kodohide Drum at the Marmot Den. While controlling the Marmot, poison the three kegs in the Bloodmaul Camp. When that is completed, return to Rexxar at Thunderlord Stronghold in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

The ogres, simple as they are, would notice you dispersing this poison throughout their camp. Thus, I will teach you how to enlist the help of one of nature's smallest creatures to do this task.

By playing a simple rhythm on this drum, you can coax a marmot to follow your commands.

There is a den of marmots near the Bloodmaul camp, to the north, down in the Daggermaw Canyon past the Circle of Blood.

Once you have a marmot's aid, use it to disperse the poison to the Bloodmaul's kegs.
