Coords confirmed. Easily soloable as a lv 70 mage. Not immune to frost nova so probably not immune to entangle/snare/etc.

This guy wasn't a tough mob, as far as they go, but he was so ridiculously huge that I couldn't get behind him to stab the bugger when he was stunned or gouged. It made it a lot more frustrating. Worth noting that dagger rogues are going to have a pain of a time positioning, due to the terrain and the size of this bugger.

This fight seems to be very random. He has 12,500 hp like stated, but the number of times he does his fire attack seems to be random.
I first tried to kill him in cat form (lvl 70 druid) and he took down my 8k health extremely fast, hitting me many times with fire. Then after rezzing, i fought him in bear and he only did 1.5k damage for the whole fight, only doing the 900 dmg fire attack once.
So the second time it was a very easy fight, not so much the first.

Found him at the coordinates listed below, by the bridge. I had to clear a few mobs, but pulling him wasn't too difficult. You can fight him right outside the lava easily. He hits for between 200-300 on a cloth wearer which is not too much to worry about, it's his fire breathe that does some major damage. It's about 900 or so a second. So watch out and prepare for it when he gets down past half, and you should be alright.

56,42 make suer you clear mobs as he will pull them too, very easy fight just avoid his fire breath it hits for 1k. Hes BIG but Easy as pie

I just did this as full raid-resto druid... I pulled and killed all his little adds...mana/hp up...feiry fire-hybernate pulled him, shift to cat, wait until I had full energy...get 5 combo points, maim, shift and heal (regrowth, swiftmend, lifebloom, barkskin, regrowth, lifebloom), hybernate, shift to cat and regain all energy and pwn until low again....

I was getting low on mana so I shifted out, warstomp, potted, hybernated and repeated. It was still a close call...

Just solo'd him as a lvl 68 (nicely geared) arms fury hybrid warr. Used a Death Wish, Bladefist's Breadth, and Recklessness Combo, was on full health and used commanding shout for a little safety. Went down really swiftly.

Solo'ed as a 67 frost mage. Not a problem at all, esp. if you have water ele. The flame breath isn't too much of a problem 'cause it's only close aoe, and it's channeled so any stun or silence will end it without trouble.

This was a pain as 67 retri pally. Since we dont have any ranged attack, I had to jump into the lava and judge him (with light), then hurry back out.
He usually spits fire 2 times, but he only did it 1 time while I fought him, which I countered with stun.
Bubbled and bandaged first time with low health, potion the second, lay on hands the third time.
Took me 4 tries actually, the other tries he spit fire twice and I couldn't stop the second >.<

Soloed as a 68 Balance Druid, easy as cake. just entagle root him and dps, when you see him about to fel-fire, hibernate him.

As lvl 70 fire mage, super easy. Pyroblast and fireball, frost nova and few fireballs and its down. Lost about 1k hp.

The mob is rather big :P

Just did this with my 70 arms warrior and it was a easy as pie. his flame hit me 4 times for 998 time. If you have fire resistance then you could probably get hit for less.
Easy to solo just pull the three adds from him first

Confirmed...they got smart and moved him on land.

Was near impossible to pull him from the lava without losing a substantial amount of health before engaging. Plus the flyers bugged him out too, so meh.

Easy mob to kill. Watch for his fire breath....ouchy.

56, 44 now. As of last patch he doesn't spawn under the bridge anymore. (Would become evade/stuck) Now he is on the cliff on the side of the lava flow.

56, 44 confirmed, just follow the southern bank of the magma river and you'll find him in no time, he's on the bank and is huge.

He's a fairly easy kill, watch out for his felfire breath, it does MASSIVE damage, but is interruptable. Apart from that, you're laughing.

I killed him just a minute ago. He was bugged every time I checked him for ages. But if you get in early over night or after reset etc he wont be bugged until someone pulls him and doesn't kill him.

I got him down to 123hp as a 69 pally and he did that stupid fire breath. Also, really hard to pull as a pally seeing as that we have no range and you have to go into the lava to kill him. So, you're starting off ~600hp down. It's soloable but it'll make your life easier if you have a caster with you.

Tips for holy priests

1. Clear the area on one side of the lava river.
2. Get right up to edge of lava and cast sw:pain (you dont have to get in the lava)
3. Run up the bank a ways to avoid aggroing others
4. Keep shield up at all times
5. When he starts casting fire spell put a renew on yourself
6. After fire spell heal fully
7. Use Shadow Fiend directly after a fire spell (so he doesnt get consumed in one)

Quest still ain't completely fixed. Pulled him no problem but managed to aggro a couple more guys and I died. Went straight back to him and now he just keeps evading me!

Felspine the Greater is just sitting in the lava pool and I can't hit him. He just Evades like a mobb in retreat. I have tried from different spots and even placed a trap under him-nothing. I logged out and the server even went down, still the same result.

Really dumb and frustrating bug to this quest. Got to him first time, no problem. Almost had him, too, even soloing as a 68 druid, with treants and Dire Bear, this guy is actually easy. Only got killed by a gnat's hair. Went back, and now he's just in constant evade mode, no reaction to attacks at all. I've trieg logging out, exiting the game, ticket to Blizzard, so far the usual lack of competent reply.

apparently anytime somebody aggros him and doesn't kill him... bugs him out and he keeps evading.. no word from blizzard on this or even if they are aware of it =/ had the same problem with and elite in nagrand

57.45 - good co-ords. I kept flying over and over him. You have to almost land on the ground/lava to see him. He is suprisingly MASSIVE. I put several large holes in his soul - fire mage - ;o). Easiest 16 gold reward in the game.

don't forget to grab the hide after you kill Felspine. I dinged to 69 right after killing him, so I completely forgot to make a space in my crowded inventory (and I have 4 netherweave bags, so its not my fault.. least I have chicken...)

he is not in the lava, he is sitting on the western side of the actual lava stream, overlooking the elaborate bridge.

You do not have to swim the lava. There is a path that will take you down right to Felspine that starts at 57,45. Of course, I swam the lava and then found the path...Learn from my mistake. :)

56,42 you cant miss him. Huge compared to the others, and he is non-elite. Easy to kill, just watch out for his fire breath, did around 900 dmg a second if you stand in it. But you can see it coming cause he charges it up in his mouth.

I rebooted my cpu and did this quest again sucessfully without a skinner so I answered my question heh

I spoke to a GM about this last night and it seems they reset him frequently. He told me that kiting him away from his spot tends to evade bug him (I would assume dying and not completing it would have the same affect). Hopefully he's not bugged tonight when I need to kill him on my other character....

It's very easy though; I flew in, landed on the right bank, cleared two mobs on the side and then pulled him to me so I didn't have to fight in the lava.

For those curious and wanting information other than the Felspine is bugged/not bugged, there is no follow-up quest after this one. Fairly lackluster small series as there's no rewards other than gold (and exp for those under 70). No reputation reward including the 5 Horde factions.
