Okay, for this quest you need to kill the "blobs" at 67,44. The drop rate is not terrible, but it's not that great either. When these blobs are small with a yellow name tag, they won't attack you unless you make the first move. But when they get beamed by some device, they will turn big and hostile.

They do NOT have to be big (hostile) in order to drop the quest item.

i noticed that when i waited for them to get small, i had a very high drop rate, about 60-80%. When they were larger and red, i did not get a single one to drop.

I found out then when I let the little beast get zapped, they turn large and aggro you. Wait for them to shrink again and kill them quick. I killed 6 mobs and got all 5 drops!

Coordinates: likes others say, around 67, 44 in that camp.

I killed so many and none dropped until I noticed that the drop is called "ether energized flesh" - so it makes sense that it has something to do with energy. Basically, go around to where the pink energizers are, and monitor when the fiendlings go to it, you have a guarantee drop if you attack the fiendling *while* it is being energized. It is yellow and then it goes to one of the energizers, pink lightning comes out and then the fiendling becomes enraged. I had no trouble once I figured that out! While you go around monitoring when they are being energized, just kill mobs in the area so they don't zerg you.

I just got 5 drops in about 9 kills, both red and yellow. This reminds me of when people said Garr had a greater chance of dropping Bindings if his adds weren't killed :)

By the time I was done with this quest, the drop rate on these was about 7%, it took me almost 45 minutes to complete this quest.

On the item 'Ether-Energized Flesh' it says, "Just like Dizzy Dina said, disgusting!"

Dina Meyer played the role of "Dizzy" in the 1997 movie Starship Troopers, and there was a scene where she and a few others were looking at a soldiers corpse with a hole in his head, then an officer sticks his fingers in the hole and says "They sucked his brains out" and I think thats when Dizzy said, "Disgusting", but there were a lot of scenes in the movie where she could had said this as well.

One of my top 5 favorite movies of all time! :D

This quest is extremely tedious, because the mobs are surrounded by 1-3 "Razaani" guards.
If you're not careful, it won't be long before you've got 5+ mobs beating on you, as there are many pats in the little "village".

The drop rate seems to correlate with the flesh beasts becoming 'energized' by the ethereal devices scattered about. The process involves a flesh beast approaching a device, receiving a purple link to the device (a la Drain Soul), growing in size, attaining a purple glow (a la Shadowform), producing an Arcane Explosion noise, and becoming hostile. If you pull a flesh beast soon after it has done this, it appears that it will likely drop the energized flesh. This energizing process does not necessarily directly correlate with the purple shadowy glow, as the beasts maintain this glow long after having energized, i.e. long after they will become less eligible for dropping energized flesh. Best to not focus on this quest: do others while keeping an eye out for beasts that energize and pull them when they do. Trapping the Light Fantastic and its follow-up Show Them Gnome Mercy! are better to focus on.

Drops off both Large ((Hostile)) and Small ((Passive)) fleshlings. Can't confirm any specific drop rate but I got 4/5 Small and 1/1 Large.

stop burying cords, its really annoying.
p.s. droprate is no longer 100% on 'transformed', but its still about 50%. if your a warlock / hunter (or some other minion / pet using class) this is really just a test of agro management. when you get 5-6 on you and you pet can only tank 3, well damn it you just have to drain tank / dot the other 2 and hope.... at that point you start thinking sacrifice (VW), howl, fear, hearth. anything that you can do to get enough time to manage the agro. i died once when i had 9 on me, at 69, handled 3 or 4 agro's of 7 though. it was 'hard' but not to the point of throwing my computer at a wall.

If you are a low DPS class such as a priest (in my case) this quest is surprisingly difficult.

The flesh beasts will get shocked by the electric thingies, and grow larger. These enlarged beasts drop the flesh 100% of the time. However, they only stay large for a very short time (I'm talking like 10-15 seconds). So if you can't kill them in that short window of time, you will never get the flesh to drop.

I repeat, KILL THEM WHEN THEY ARE ENLARGED, and the flesh drops 100% of the time. But you have to nuke them pretty hard to kill them that fast.

*EDIT* Oh, and I'd also like to add that the place where you find these things sucks giant donkey balls.

Sometimes i question blizzard and what they do. This quest makes absolute no sense at all. Some guy told me that you have to let them transform. I have no blue what he's talking about.

There is a dispute as to whether the energized ones (bigger ones) drop more frequently. But they all drop it.

I killed 10 of them 5 "yellow" 5 "red" ones and the drop rate was even.

I don't have any idea why the drop rate thing can be so random, but I killed at least 20 of these before I got my first drop. I think it was more like 30. Then I got 5 drops in a row. So in case it matters I'll tell you where I got mine.

i almost deleted the q after reading the other comments, but finaly i decided to give it a try. and got 5 energized flesh after killing 8-9mobs. maybe blizzard increased the drop rate or i was just very lucky, i dont know, but it was worth spending 5min on this q:)

Uh yeah, it makes total sense....
Theres 2 types of beasts

you dont need to know the names just know this...

1 is aggresive.... (red name bar)
1 is passive .... (yellow name bar)

The red ones have the flesh

Also the yellow ones transform into the red ones by
eating the energy from those small posts that are around
the camp.

Very easy 68,42 is correct

The gold reward for this at level 70 was actually 10g 69s, much higher than what is listed in the quest write up.

As for reds only having the flesh, no.

I killed two side-by-side. I pulled a yellow one and a red came with it. The red did not have the flesh & the yellow did.

As for the quest, she gives it out after you have done several prelim quests at the camp.

Confirmed. Kill them while they are 'charged' (Bigger), and you'll get the quest item.
Edit: Appearently not neccesary, i did however notice a higher drop rate while they where "charged".

It doesn't matter whether they are yellow or red. What matters it seemed was killing them as quickly after they got charged and grew larger. I would target a small one and attack it as soon as it got charged and grew larger. Got the correct flesh every time.

Lots of negative comments about drop rates. I don't know if TBC is different than original, but I've done this quest on 3 toons now and find the drop rate is about 30%. No problems doing the quest. Also got drops from both neutral and aggro mobs - didn't seem to make a difference

But, of course, they aren't willing to get their hands dirty, and they only want the ether-energized flesh, which it's not likely that all of them have.
