They're both at around 82, 36. I got my 5 Withered Bog Lord Sample in about 10-15 mins, but the Parched Hydra Sample took over 30 mins to get all five. Parched Hydra got a lower drop rate.

PS they only from the Withered Bog Lord and Parched Hydra don't waste your time with the other mobs there :)

Confirm low drop rate. Good to team up on this as the area is heavily farmed. Skinners and Herbalists make out like bandits in this area.

Same spot, just took me longer for the bog lord samples and shorter for the hydra. But both have a fairly low drop rate.

This is a good quest to do if you later want to get reputation with the Sporeggar.
And in that case, kill everything you see, even the smaller Withered Giants.

i was spend 15 minute killing mob with desperate none of 'em were drop but since i got dc'd then it drops good. dunno why but its true and the mote of life were droped good too

Decent drop rate from the bog lords, about 1 out of 3 for me. The hydras, though, had a really bad drop rate on the first 7-8 mobs. Only one drop there, but then I got my last 4 from about 10 mobs. So I can partly confirm the low drop rate from the hydras.

i took on 5 hydras and got all 5 pieces, but the bog lords have an EXTREMELY low drop rate, i just got one out of about 50 bog lords.

Withered Bog Lords had fairly low droprate, but I can confirm that the hydras have a horrible droprate. So must far have killed nearly 2 dozen and haven't gotten anything.

the reason it is so heavily farmed is because of how fast it is to get Primal Life...i spent less than 30 minutes in that area...i know because my buff had 30 minutes and was still there when i finished...kill withered giants like crazy and you will get lots of motes of life but sometimes bog lords get in the way and have to die but they drop mote of life too so then people start killing those as well as withered giants

It took me about 1.5 hours of straight killing to do this quest. I got loads of Bog Lord Tendrils and Motes of Life, though.

It might be coincidence, but in my case, the bog lord samples only started dropping after I had all Hydra samples.

Really can not see what the problem is with this quest, killed 10 of each mob and got my 10 drops..

63% 5/8 Parched

I was rested so a nice chunk of XP was used, at 63 getting about 1Kxp per kill.

Hm, Drop rates not as crappy as said.

Boglord.
No Drop: 16
Drop: 5
Total: 21

Hydra.
No Drop: 6
Drop: 5
Total: 11

So from these results I got a 5/21 droprate on the Boglords and 5/11 droprate on Hyra's, meaning 1 drop every 4.2 Boglord and 1 drop every 2.2 Hydra. Not too crappy since you get exp from killing the things too.

At level 61 I got about 550 exp each kill and 10050 exp for completion.

I noticed something odd.
The Hydras at the pool in the centre of the area had a decent drop rate - like 50% or more, and the Bog Lords that were away from this area had a similar drop rate.

Swapped them around and got no drops from the Bog Lords at the pool, and no drops from the Hydras away from the pool.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but I'm sure this fits in with the storyline about the Hydras displacing the Bog Lords for control of the water, or something.

The information supplied is incorrect.

The droprate was about 33%, the quest awards 10050 XP at Level 63.

Did the quest with two characters.

I would recommend grinding bog lords and giants for attaining Honored reputation with both Sporeggar and Cenarion Expedition as you cannot turn in Unidentified plant parts and bog lord tendrils once you attained that rep level.

Droprate sucks. My addon said 5-7% droprate for both of the drops. I can't recommend doing this quest.

Horrible quest, the drop rates blow. I have killed about 7 hydras and 15 bog lords and have only 1 sample from a bog lord.... just be ready for boredom.

Just did it. Wasn't as hard as they are talking about. Plus, for those that like to grind, this is grinding plus around nearly 10k exp for quest. It is always worth it to quest. For those who need coords, in the vicinity of 80,37.

Crappy drop rates. But stick around the dead mire and kill the bog lords and hydras and they will surely drop.

Took me an hour to get 5 from each.

Probably the worst drop rate ever i recommend going with double xp bonus well rested for lots of xp 80,37 Dead Mire

We must determine how far the damage has spread. The basidium you brought me comes from a bog giant. Their larger, hardier cousins, the bog lords, should prove more resistant to the degeneration that's struck the giants.

It would be good to know how the changes in the Dead Mire have affected the other creatures out there, too.

Return to the Dead Mire and see if you can get samples from the bog lords and the hydra in the area.
