They may have changed the drop rate, i killed about 14 Ghosts, oddly enough no spectres ever spawned, and i got all 10 remnants

From what i have noticed the Tormented Souls become ghosts and the Tormented Citizen's became spectres.

ok that wasnt correct as i just pulled a citizen and it became a ghost but i have still only ever seen spectres from citizens

I just did this quest and here was my drop rates (drops per kills).

Kirin'Var Ghost - 8/18 - 44%
Kirin'Var Spectre - 2/5 - 40%

Total of 23 kills.

Wow the drop rate sux. Kill 52 Ghosts and 14 Spectres... only 8 drops.

The "official" drop rate is
5488 out of 18994 (28.9%).

However, I found mine to be above 50%, and completed the quest easily. Attack the citizens in their houses, and be sure to not attack when the are using soulbind, or you'll be damaging yourself.

Also as stated above, avoid damaging during the Soulbind, 50% of the damage you deal is inflicted upon yourself. So it's a good idea to stun it if you can and wait.

Also for Rogues. CLoS doesn't remove the Soulbind.

As I was doing this I saw that if you aggro the mob and get it to change BEFORE you attack it gets a much better (possibly up to 100%) drop rate.

The drop rate was actually 100% for me. I got a remnant from every kill off of the Ghosts and the Spectres.

Done by 70 Rogue easy. And even though Helu's plan seemed to work for people, I attacked them dead on, and each one dropped a remnant.

I accepted this quest, got 1/10 after 40 kills, logged out and logged back in and got a 75% drop rate. If your having problems, I'd suggest doing the same.

You MUST let them put soulbind on you to get the drop. I kept using counter spell so they couldn't cast it on me. Now I let them cast it on my every time, then I got the 100% drop rate.

This is pretty easy for pala's, just cleanse the soulbind spell and kill.

Don't worry about the soulbind as an affliction lock. you can drain life, and you'll heal more than the damage you deal to yourself.

Soloed as 68 Rogue. had to Vanish once and blind once on a bad pull and agro control. Other than that, pretty easy. Drop rate is about 60%.
Cloak of Shadows doesn't cure Soulbind.

I found that during the fights when the ghosts start to cast the soulbind (50% damage taken is shared with you) if you move away from them they cannot catch you before the buff wears off.

Warlocks - make sure to use your Felhunter on this quest. You can either have him Spell Lock the cast of the Soulbinds, or if you miss it he can devour it off of you. Devouring the debuff off you also causes it to be removed from the mob, so they're back to taking full damage - but you should only have to do that if somehow you miss an interrupt.

Believe me, it makes killing these mobs go a lot faster and a whole lot less annoying!

Most classes should take their time with this quest, if no one else is clearing this area at the same time as you, there are quite a few adds to watch for on patrol, I was often times fighting 3 or 4 with my 70 hunter, and i had some close calls

The way I got most drops (before that only 1 or 2 dropped) was:

1) Aggro them without hitting them
2) Nuke nuke etc.
3) When they cast soulbind, STOP HITTING. This was something that amazed me, when I didn't hit them with soulbind they almost had 100% drop rate on the bloody q item, while before I just shielded and went on hitting them...

Of course, plenty of chances this was totally coincidential :P

Took me 12 kills before I saw one, but I had all 10 by the time I killed 30

Good advice in this thread, the little graveyard around 62, 80 is an excellent place to farm (I didn't try the Inn). Tormented Souls vs. Citizens didn't seem to make a difference at this loc. I didn't get 80% - more like 70% (whine , whine) - but that's not bad when you only need 10 of them!

I also have to agree with the sentiment about people whining about drop rates, especially "it's a waste of time", even though I've said (and posted) it myself. After all - isn't that the whole point? Does anybody think they're actually accomplishing something in this game?

P.S. The above statement does NOT apply to "Gauging the Resonant Frequency" in Blade's Edge! ;)

So I dropped this quest a little while back because I was frystrated with the droprate on the items, now I want to do it but can't seem to pick it up again. Talked to the guy who gives it out but doesn't have a quest. Any suggestions on how to pick it up again?

I can't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure the Inn does help. MOst people say so, and it did for me too. Might be luck, but everyone being lucky? O_o

You get more of these by the inn, etc. not the Chapel grounds.

cleared the inn. 1 drop.

About 1 drop for 25 kills.

There are 2 types of mobs that do not spawn in static locations. Tormented Soul, and, Tormented Citizen. The T. Soul turns into Kirin'Var Ghoste, while the T. Citizen turns into a Kirin'Var Spectre. It's the Specters/Citizens that i see dropping the goods.

the inn does NOT have a perfect drop rate but it still has a pretty high drop rate, the kirinvar spectres seem to drop the remnants more then the ghosts.

Has no one seen a correlation between the guys casting Soulbind and dropping the item? Maybe I am making it up, but it seems to me that if the mob casts, or even attempts to cast Soulbind, it drops the item when killed.

Collect 10 Loathsome Remnants from the twisted spirits in Kirin'Var Village's Chapel Yard and bring them to Custodian Dieworth.

Descrizione

The strange magical device resembles nothing you've ever seen before. It's certainly not of blood elf manufacture.

As you sense spirits moving closer to the building, the orb glows with a greater intensity, which fades as the spirits leave. There's no question that it plays a role in the corruption of the ghosts.

How it works remains a mystery. Perhaps Custodian Dieworth will have some insight if you can provide the remains of some of the spirits along with your observations.
