I found a decent amount of them around 39,35. Drop rate is pretty bad though, so just do you quests in Terokkar Forest and kill then as you stumble upon them.

A lot of wolves are indeed located at the Bonechewer Ruins (not inside, but north of the zone). If you are here to kill the wolves, it would be smart to also pick up the quest "Unruly Neighbors" (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=9998) for the Warped Peons there.

Drop rate is somewhere between non-existant and ridiculous, leaning towards ridiculous, since every worg you find has a large fluffy tail which somehow seems to disappear at the moment you deal the killing blow. Very odd.

Its amazing how few wolves in Terrokar have tails. You'd swear it looks like they all have one, but once the kill is done, lo and behold, no tail. Reminds me of those mutant humans in Hillsbrad that have no skulls....

i herd the drop rate was bad, but what i did was gte my 1st 6 then had ti log for a while then came back and got the other 6 fast, didnt take em to long.

The normal Timber Worgs seem to drop the tails a lot more often than the Timber Worg Alphas.
You can find the normal worgs just north of Stonebreaker Hold.

If you do these at 33,39 right near Veil Skith...they drop off the Timber Worg Alpha with regularity. Got all mine in 15 to 20 minutes. Just make sure you go after the Alphas in this area and you won't have a bad drop rate at all.

Like in veryother zone that has wolves there are SPiders in same spot. Dont know why blizzard did this but whenever u see a wolf a spider is near. same other way around.

I Suggest going for Timber Worg Alphas on this quest, better drop rate.

For those of you without Coodinate addons,just head north of the Hold and you'll find them.Soloed this as a 64 holy priest.Not alot of trouble.Although the drop rate wasen't that great.
Watch out for Warped Stalkers.

Fight the level 64 worgs, they seem to have a higher drop rate. They are around 56, 36.

While you are in this area, you can also pick up these other quests beforehand:

the ower the drop rate the better for this quest. Pick it up and the rest and just kill them as u go through the rest of the quests. You will eventually get them all without knowing it.

I suggest not setting out to do this, but pick it up and just kill them when you run into them.

Although the drop rate near the entrance to Shattrath closest to the Bone Wastes/where they set up the Darkmoon Faire had an excellent drop rate. I got the last four I needed in four kills, and a few greens.

Timber Worg Alphas drop these and this is one of those annoying quests that should take 10 mins, but takes 2 hours because of the atrocious drop rate. Expect to get one tail every 10 wolves. Annoying as hell.

this quest sucks, drop rate is piss poor. About 10 kills to every tail, when rested you will get atleast 100k exp but it takes forever.

After questing out the entire zone, I still had 11/12. waiting for a raid to get together, i spent ONE HOUR KILLING WORGS and still NO *$&#&#$ Worg Tail.

OMFG what a POS this quest is. If you got a decent drop rate, then its because your horde character, and blizzard devs give horde better drop rates. I play both, I know so stfu.

The drop rate on Timber Worgs is about 1/8.. The Timber Worg Alpha were like 7/10. go to 60,40 ish.. there's lots.. easy aoe gringing :)

The drop rate for this quest was horrble. Took me 55 kills to get 12 tails and took my friend 96 kills. I advise just killing Worgs randomly while you are on other quests. If not, you'll go crazy trying to do this quest.

Don't expect to get the 12 tails until you have killed 200!

Can confirm the coordinates below, my drop rate was 10% with the alphas but went to 40% when I went to these coordinates.

The best place I found to do this was by the Bonechewer Ruins. They seem to drop more often off of the Timber Worg Alphas. Decent respawn rate.

By just doing this one quest I hit level 70 from the exp of killing so many wolves before getting 12 tails.

I suggest if you attempt this to be able to kill 3~4 of them at a time. Having to kill 6 to get 1 tail will be very frustrating if you do this one kill at a time. Bad quest, but leads to another quest for Ironjaw.

Timber Worg Tails

Bertelm at the Allerian Stronghold wants you to bring him 12 Timber Worg Tails. The tails can come from either Timber Worgs or Timber Worg Alphas.

Have you come across the timber worgs in your travels? I've had the opportunity to observe them while mapping some of the northern reaches of the forest. I wouldn't recommend getting close to them unless you're prepared for combat.

They have no fear of us and won't hesitate to defend their territory.

It's fitting that such a creature would have a magnificent tail. I've been trying to collect enough of them to trim a new cloak, but the worgs have a habit of evading my snares. Will you help?
