Killing this mob is fairly simple. Grind mobs outside the cave until you have 5 scraps, and then head into the cave disguised. The disguise doesnt fool his 2 dragon mobs, but I found those fairly easy to solo.

Then go right ahead and kill Maxnar by himself, he is a fairly simple mob. Attempt to interrupt his fire attack if you can, but it hits for 400-600, not the 3k+ that is stated in some places. Blow your cooldowns if you have to , but still fairly simple. HS out.

I was able to stealth to him just fine - He is easily solo'd without his 'Wyrmcult Blessed' if you pull him from that back corner - Beware, he does a knockback, and knocked me off the edge, while he aggrod the whole cave. Just fight him in the corner, and he won't knock you off.

fairly simple, just train is adds away and kill, watch for hatchlings ( i recommand killing these first)
after adds are dead blow your cooldowns on him he hits a bit ahrd but nothing anyone cant handle

If you have stealth of some sort, you can just sneak in behind him and start the fight once his guards move away. Just be sure to get yourself well away from where he started to avoid getting the guards and get your back against a wall as he does a mean knock-back that can knock you down into a passage below.

A small warning for destro locks and fire mages: Maxnar (As other members of the Black Dragonflight) has a decently high amount of fire resist. It cut 50% or so of my damage, so be prepared to use Shadow/Arcane/Frost spells.

Easiest way to reach him upon entering the cave is to turn right, follow the path past Kolphis Darkscale, and then turn right again once you find yourself on a little ledge. If you jump off the ledge here and turn right you can get to the Provisioner who can sell you the fun little Orb of the Blackwhelp if you are disguised. But if you want to get to Maxnar, go right without jumping off the ledge.

This game will tell you things like 'This mob isn't an elite, really!' And it will say 'This isn't a group quest, he's soloable, 4 srsly!'

I would like to pronounce that this is a ridiculous claim, on account of the guy practically juggles you in the air, and his mobs respawn at a rate of approximately What^The Jesus/sec. Yes, that is what, to the jesus, per second.

If you're a caster, forget it. Really.

As a warlock i dropped him fast, then my mage friend did, don't know how priests would fair but probably decent.

I just killed him solo with my 68 holy priest.

Just like the quest before it, get in your Nuaar disguise and turn right, go to where Kolphis is at and just beyond Kolphis is a bend to the right, where it overlooks the paths below. Stop at that bend, unsuit and kill the whelps AND the eggs in that area. Just beyond that are the drakes, who will not aggro if you're at the overlook area. Pull Maxnar's drakes one at a time and kill them. They don't hit so hard, 300-350 points to this squishy holy priest. The problem killing them is if you get a whelp along with them, who DO hit hard, but have low health.

Once the drakes are dead, quickly kill any eggs in the area before you pull Maxnar. He knocks back, and you will activate an egg if he bounces you into one, and that would suck. It happened to me, but fortunately, it was right as Maxnar was dying and I managed to survive it.

Easilly soloable by any class. Respawns are not ridiclous -- might have been changed. The named spawned a second time before a second wave of trash.

You can skin him for Nether Dragonscales.

the GY for this for alliance for this area is in Sylvanaar. it makes it 900% more difficult, if you do something like have an egg respawn, or just even a single add causing you die. you'll come back to an area fully respawned. because your GY runback is approx 15 minutes.

take a friend play safe. its more the awkward alliance GY location that can really make this difficult.

I admit aggro is heavy in that cave, but he is not hard to kill aslong as you clear around him (2 egg spawns and 2 dragonkin. Pets are immuned to knockback so just dps him down. I doesnt matter if you're beast spec or not and it doesnt take long. Good Luck, happy hunting!

Once you're inside the cave -- and you obviously know where it is by now -- turn RIGHT (West) and follow the big "W" shaped path to its end in the Northeast corner of the cave.

If you turn left (East) when you get inside the cave, you will be on a lower level, unable to reach him.

It definitely helps make the fight easier if you clear the nearby dragon whelps and eggs before aggro'ing the guards. Otherwise his knockback can push you into more dps than you needed to have.

Dunno if you can single-pull the guards; rumor has it that you can. Didn't really try, since I was in a duo.

Stealth in and distract gaurds at farthest point of their patrol. Kill him before they get to you. Vanish and hearth out. Very fast.

Frost mage just solo'd him easily. GETTING TO HIM however was somewhat tricky. I died once because I had gotten up to make a cup of coffee so perhaps I handicapped myself but the respawn rate and close quarters make it quite easy to aggro more than you bargained for. Just be very careful about what's around and DO NOT DIE. The run back here has got to be one of the longest ghost runs in the game.

The way to get to him is EXTREMELY easy.
Just grab 5 scraps of the costume prior to going into the cave, attach the costume and all but the Wyrmcult Blessed (which are only in the immediate area of Maxnar) and Maxnar himself will attack you...it lasts for 3 minutes but that is plenty of time to get to him.

Also incredibly easy to solo, since he is vulnerable to stuns...only thing that sucked for me (Fire-mage) is that he absorbs a large amount of fire dmg for the first few attacks. A normal 4k pyro crit only hit for 1k =D

Best advice I can give is clear ALL eggs and kill dragonkin whelps first...they hit for 880 fire damage.

Me and a mate (me shaman, him warrior) just ran through the entire cave agroing everything we came close to... i pumped the phat earthshield all over my sexy healer butt and spam healed him with a WF totem next to him... took us aproximately 30 seconds to kill them Chuck Norris style and 1½ min to run through the cave.

*Deep thunder with WF is pretty much as effective as a half Roundhouse kick*

Soloed with lv 70 Boomkin Druid. Super cake people, took me less then 10sec. Has about 11k hp. Started with Starfire (3000crit) then layed a Moonfire and Insect swarm on him. After that I just wrath spammed him to death. No problems at all.

solo'd as lvl 68 hybrid (combat/subtlety) NE rogue. Following directions in above posts, stealthed in, cleared a couple of the dragonkin. Poisoned dagger with deadly poison, mace with mind-numbing to slow casting of fireblast.

The two bodyguards are not sappable, so I timed their patrol until they were on opposite ends of the patrol. I shot the near one to pull him towards me in my cleared space. GS/SS/hemo/hemo/riposte, kick to thwart his fireblast, evis. Repeat. As his HP got low, his buddy came up to join the fun, so I hit blade flurry and envenom. BG#1 dropped and I engaged BG#2, with same combinations and quickly dropped him. Lost about 1/4 of my hp. Bandaged up and restealthed to approach Maxnar.

I lined myself up on Max's 10 o'clock position (from his perspective, I am just to the left of directly in front of him) so that my back would be against the wall. I used distract to turn him around facing away from me, pickpocketed, hit Drae WarTalisman and Mark of Resolution, then opened with CheapShot, SS, Backstab, and GS.

He turned and flung me against the wall. I hit evasion and hemo, then kidney shot. SS, energy drink, backstab and then got back against the wall before he recovered - good thing, as his first attack was to knock me back again.

GS/HEmo/Hemo/Hemo/bladeflurry, riposte, envenom and he was down. He was doing 142dps to my 295dps, so I was down about 1/2 way. Bandaged. Got the new quest tiki head talisman from him and stealthed out.

Pretty easy, main difficulty was avoiding the aggro on the dragonkin eggs.

this guy was weak as hell im a 67 druid i snuck in pulled him back w/o killing ne of the guards put my back to the wall behind him and slaughtered him easily

w00t i just fin the quest about 2 lvl 2 67 i solod him at 66 im a MM hunter his pretty easy just pull him when 1 of his 2 mobs is walkin away take the mobs that with him then kill him.

k, so i didn't read any above comments, only scanned through for coords... he's at **33.35** inside the cave. an idea... collect enough costume scraps and go in with the costume on, won't have to kill anyone, and you can walk right up to his face and... you know the rest. hope this helps :)

this quest is not hard at all for any of you casters dispite what this other guy said I beat him by tanking with my fel guard and immulate curruption and curse of agony then I shadow bolted him about two to three times and he was dead. one of the most easy fights I have ever had

I easily soloed as a 66 shaman, if your a shaman and atleast 66 just use the Earth Elemental Totem, he takes aggro and you can easily take out Maxna, Good Luck

Easy a hell? It depends.

Soloed as a 69 undead warrior, but took me a bit to kill him.

Be sure to open (you just stand near of them and they'll open) every dragon egg you see near 33.35 (cords. confirmed, he's near the other "boss" you had to talk) near him , because they can be a pain in the ass if they catch you when you're killing Maxnar. First time i tried, i was killing Maxnar when two little dragons appeared. I concentrated on him, but three fireballs by the ^&*!*** dragons and i was killed. Second time, i killed every dragon i saw, and yep, easy... Maxnar falled down :D

You can also use a disguise (from the preceding quest), enter the cave, find a secure place (with only a few mobs)near the first boss, take off the disguise, kill them and find Maxnar.

This guy has 3 abilities:

He does a Mortal Strike debuff every once in a while, he can do a Blame Breath attack that hits for about 500 fire dmg, and he does a knockback attack.

And I found out he can bleed, so my usual pounce, mangle and rip combo worked like a charm.
As a 67 druid he wasn't hard to get down. I did go bearform for safety but I think I could've even easily downed him in cat.

He is located in the very end of Blackwing Coven where you talked to one of his minions while in disguise during the quest before.
Look out for his Flame Breath attack. It hit me for 3,8k.

After you clear out the guys around him, he drops like nothing. I lost 800 of my 8500 life (70 warrior)... he has 11k life. Lost line of sight for his fire and be careful about the knockback attack he does.

He was easy as pie on my 66 belf rogue, just sneaked up there, killed his adds and kept Maxnar stunned as long as i could (macestun + 5 sec kidney shots), he went down and he only dealt me 1k dmg :)
