New Forums Going Up This Wednesday
Bashiok has just posted on the official forums to let us know that they'll be transitioning to the new forums on Wednesday!
The old forums will be converted to "Read-Only" status, and all future posts will go onto the new community site we mentioned
a little while ago.
This Wednesday, November 17 these forums will be put into a read-only state. At that time we'll be inviting all posters to fully migrate to the new World of Warcraft community site and forums.

These forums will remain read-only until the end of the month, after which they and all of their posts will be removed ... forever! If you have any posts, information, stickies, etc. that you'd like to keep you'll want to have finished saving it before then.

is now tameable in the latest Cataclysm Beta build! I don't know about you guys, but this is my old school hunter's greatest nerd dream come true. Chromaggus isn't the only new Core Hound we'll be seeing in Cataclysm - there's another new skin available to hunters, a slightly more yellow-tinged beastie by the name of
Gomegaz
who can be found romping around in
Terre Devastate
. But honestly, who cares about that guy - CHROMAGGUS! For those who prefer a more "classic" Core Hound look, it's worth mentioning that
Magmadar
is now tameable as well.

Elemental Invasion: Final Phase!
The final phase of the
Elemental Invasion
has begun, and it's a doozy—the elementals have come to destroy
your
home town!
Elementals will be invading
Picco del Tuono
,
Orgrimmar
,
Forgiardente
, and
Roccavento
. It's up to you to take them out, and to gather your forces for a strike at the Elemental Lords—which of course drop some nice little level 251 goodies!

Gamon's Cataclysm Beta Buff Still Isn't Enough, Taken Down by Raid
Poor
Gamon
. Years and years of pickpocketing, mind controlling and just generally being killed flat-out for the coppers in his pocket have worn thin on the poor guy's soul. Since Blizzard have removed class-specific quests, they've done the guy a favor and given him an upgrade of Saurfang proportions!
As I'm sure some of you may have seen, as of the latest Cataclysm Beta build
Gamon is now a level 85 elite and he hits like a truck
!
TotalBiscuit
has just posted a hilarious video of his "world first" (not really) kill on Gamon. Despite such a major upgrade, this poor tauren still can't get a break. :(

In preparation for the Cataclysm, Blizzard has been sending out emails to owners of cancelled or expired accounts. They are
offering 7 days of World of Warcraft for free with reactivation of the account

Elemental Invasion Phase 3 Has Opened!
Reports are coming in that
Phase 3
of the pre-Cataclysm launch event has begun! Doomsday Cultists are roaming the city streets and its up to us to try and put a stop to their strange rituals!

How To Find Cataclysm Instance Entrances
The other night I stumbled upon the work of the talented
regisfrost

Reddit
, where he had posted an assortment of nicely made and extremely informative images that I guarantee will be of value to many players in preparation for the Cataclysm! He's given us permission to share with you guys this awesome collection, detailing locations of each of the new dungeons launching with Cataclysm.
Remember, come Cataclysm, you will not be able to queue for one of the new dungeons via the Dungeon Finder unless you have first discovered its entrance! Thankfully, Blizzard has assured us that the normal leveling path will lead you to discovering most of these dungeons without much effort, but there's definitely no such thing as too much information! Enjoy!

Goblin and Worgen Faction/Race Changes Available at Launch
Blizzard announced something I know quite a few of us have been waiting for:
Race/Faction Changes
for both
Worgen and Goblins
will be available on launch day!
There is a little caveat to the way paid services work for goblins and worgen: either of them wishing to change races or factions cannot be in either Gilneas or Lost Isles. There is no restrictions on on players wishing to change to goblins or worgen.
With two new playable races just on the horizon, many players have been asking when they'll be able to convert their existing characters into goblins or worgen. Paid faction and race changes will be available immediately once Cataclysm is released. Realm First achievements for leveling any class to 85 will be available in Cataclysm. However there will be no Realm First achievements associated with leveling characters of a specific race.
There will be a slight change to the way paid services work for goblins and worgen. Goblin and worgen characters wishing to change race or faction cannot be in Lost Isles or Gilneas; they must be elsewhere to initiate the proc

Cataclysm Beta Patch (Build 13277)
Looks like someone is burning the late-night oil over at Blizzard... a new beta patch (build 13277) is being prepped for a server update in the near future!

We made a few tweaks to the spell diffs after identifying an issue with how we were determining changes in class spells. The current list should be more accurate.

Battle.net Dial-In Authenticator
Blizzard announced a new tool today for security conscious people: the
Battle.net Dial-In Authenticator
. For those who don't have access to a smart phone capable of running the authenticator software, or those unable to get a token authenicator, users will be able to sign up for this new service. It's free and (currently) only available to U.S. Residents. How it works is pretty simple: you will authorize a specific phone number and make a phone call to verify it. After that every time something unusual happens with your account, such as logging in from a foreign location, you will be required to make a phone call from the registered phone number and enter your pin which will provide you with a single use security code much like the normal authenticators.
