Ten Things To Do Before Wrath of the Lich King Classic Releases

Wrath of the Lich King Classic Beta likely coming soon
, many players are interested in preparation for the upcoming expansion. Today, we'll be covering some strategies for preparation and a list of things to do before Wrath of the Lich King Classic releases.
Earn Burning Crusade Attunement Titles
During the Pre-Patch event for Wrath of the Lich King Classic, many quests will be removed that were previously a part of the attunement quest chain in Burning Crusade. These quest chains grant both and titles, which will no longer be accessible in Wrath of the Lich King. If you are interested in having these titles (and associated Achievements) you will need to finish the attunement process before they are removed.
While it isn't necessary to get attuned currently in Burning Crusade Classic, these quests are still available and can be completed. We have a guide made for the attunement process, linked below --

Earn the Amani War Bear from Zul'Aman
Once the Pre-Patch arrives, the
Amani War Bear
will be removed from Zul'Aman. For mount collectors out there, this will be the last chance to earn the mount before it is removed. If this interests you, you should pay close attention to the Looking For Group chat channels on your realm to join a group or look to form your own group.

Acquire Items from Level 60 Naxxramas
Joining the Attunement titles and Amani War Bear, the entire Level 60 Naxxramas Necropolis in
Eastern Plaguelands
will be removed in the Pre-Patch event for Wrath of the Lich King. Naxxramas was reimagined as a Level 80 raid for the first patch of Wrath of the Lich King, which means all of the items in the original raid will no longer be obtainable. Some of these items are highly regarded for their "transmog" value, such as
Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
,
Corrupted Ashbringer
, and
The Hungering Cold
, among many others.
Not only are these items valuable for their transmog value, but the shoulder enchants that drop from
Sapphiron
are some of the best enchants available for Heirloom shoulders. For players looking to min/max their Heirlooms, they should look to stock up on some Sapphiron enchants.
Lastly, the
Dreamwalker Raiment
2-piece bonus has the potential to be a Pre-Raid Best in Slot for Restoration Druids. In Wrath of the Lich King, Druids will obtain a new 3-point talent near the end of the Restoration tree called Revitalize. This talent has a chance per
Rejuvenation
tick to restore Energy, Rage, Mana, or Runic Power. It is currently unknown if the talent and the 2-piece bonus stack with one another, because there is conflicting information on the topic. This will be one of the first things Resto Druids will be testing once the Wrath Beta becomes available and if it is confirmed they do stack, this will likely be Pre-Raid Best in Slot for Druid healers.
Dreamwalker Raiment
2 pieces: Your Rejuvenation ticks have a chance to restore 60 mana, 8 energy, or 2 rage to your target.
Revitalize talent in the Restoration tree for Druids in Wrath of the Lich King
Collect Nightmare Seeds
Nightmare Seed
will no longer be obtainable in the Pre-Patch for Wrath of the Lich King,
removed in Patch 3.0.2
. When fully talented by a Warlock in Wrath Classic, Healthstones will restore 5,136 health and will likely be the preferred choice in end game content for Tanks.
For that reason,
Nightmare Seed
might not be an end game consumable for tanks in Wrath Classic, but it can be very valuable while leveling up as a tank spamming Dungeons. If you are looking to spam dungeons as a Tank in Wrath Classic launch, it could be a good idea to stock up on Nightmare Seeds before they are completely removed.

Nightmare Seeds no longer drop when picking Nightmare Vine.
Acquire Raid Gear for Leveling & Pre-Raid BiS in Wrath of the Lich King
Sunwell Plateau
offers some of the best gear in the game for Burning Crusade Classic. Weapons such as
Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury
,
Apolyon, the Soul-Render
,
Hand of the Deceiver
, and
Sunflare
will be fantastic pieces to have while leveling in Wrath Classic. These weapons will likely last you until the end or nearly the end of the leveling process in Wrath Classic, and will likely be very important for any players interested in earning Realm First 80 Achievements. In addition, the
M'uru
trinkets
Blackened Naaru Sliver
,
Glimmering Naaru Sliver
,
Shifting Naaru Sliver
, and
Steely Naaru Sliver
are also incredible trinkets that will likely last all the way to level 80.
As mentioned, many pieces of gear from Sunwell Plateau will be the best leveling gear for Wrath Classic and in some unique cases, will even be Pre-Raid Best in Slot. For example, the
Slayer's Armor
2-piece bonus for Rogues will most certainly be. The 2-piece bonus grants extra haste to
Slice and Dice
, which will far outweight any extra stats and attributes one might obtain from the Boot, Bracer, or Belt slot. Rogues interested in min/maxing their characters to the fullest in Wrath of the Lich King Classic will want to acquire the Tier 6 pieces from Sunwell Plateau for this 2-piece bonus.
Slayer's Armor
2 pieces: Increases the haste from your Slice and Dice ability by 5%.

Prepare Professions & Profession Materials
One of the easiest ways to obtain gold in Wrath of the Lich King (and any version of World of Warcraft, for that matter) is through professions. Nearly all professions in Wrath of the Lich King Classic grants unique bonuses, many also craft Pre-Raid Best in Slot items and valuable Bind on Equip items. For example, Miners will gain a passive 60 Stamina and Skinners will gain 40 Critical Strike Rating.
If you are planning on re-rolling to a Death Knight or making an alt character, it can also be a great idea to stock up on profession materials to "power level" your professions. Death Knights start at Level 55 during the Pre-Patch event for Wrath Classic, which means many players will be buying materials to level their professions quicker. If you are interested in saving gold, you might want to buy those materials sooner rather than later!

Prepare Bind on Equip Items for Death Knight Characters
If you are interested in re-rolling to a Death Knight or making an alt character, it can be a great idea to stock up on random Bind on Equip items for leveling. Even random ones such as
Adamantite Cleaver

Boots of the Decimator
, and
Sash of Silent Blades
can be great items for a fresh character when leveling.
In addition, players looking to min/max their Death Knight leveling experience in Wrath of the Lich King can look for powerful Level 70 Bind on Equip items such as
Hard Khorium Band

Hard Khorium Battlefists
,
Swiftsteel Bracers
, and
Red Belt of Battle
. While many of the best Bind on Equip items might be a bit overboard, some players are looking to re-roll to a Death Knight and compete for Realm First 80 Achievements. In those instances, these items might become necessary.
Save Gold for Wrath of the Lich King
Whether you like it or not, gold is extremely important in Wrath of the Lich King. Cold Weather Flying, which allows your character to fly in Northrend costs 1,000 gold. Dual Talent Specialization can be purchased from a Class Trainer for 1,000 gold. The Traveler's Tundra Mammoth is a mount that carries two vendors, which can be booted off to carry other players. This mount costs an astronomical 20,000 gold, before any reputation discounts.
It can also be a great idea to pick up a Kirin Tor ring (which costs 8,500 gold), as it provides a teleport to Dalaran on a short 30 minute cooldown. In addition, some classes will look for these Kiron Tor Rings for their Pre-Raid Best in Slot value, providing another reason to purchase them. If you are interested in acquiring all of these things for your main character, you'll be looking at around a whopping
30,000 gold
, before discounts.

Fill up the Quest Log for Launch Day
If you are interested in competing for the Realm First 80 Achievements, you might be interested in finding 25 quests to complete, which can be turned in on the day Wrath of the Lich King Classic officially launches. This will give players that put in the effort about a half level of a leg up on the competition and with some clever Warlock summons around the world, can be a lightning fast start in the leveling race.
Look for Friends to Level With
World of Warcraft is better with friends.
This is a statement that rings true since the very beginning, all the way back to 2004. If you are looking to compete for Realm First 80 Achievements (where having friends to help is almost a necessity), spam dungeons in a group to level, or even leveling out in the open world, its always best to have friends along for the journey. If you haven't been playing Classic prior to Wrath of the Lich King - now is the best time to start! This way, you'll have as much time as possible to find a guild or a group of friends to play with when Wrath finally launches.
