Moon-Touched Netherwhelp Pet Hints at TBC Classic Announcement at BlizzConline

The Moon-Touched Netherwhelp Pet is the latest in a series of hints pointing to a TBC Classic announcement at BlizzConline.
Over the past few months we've seen
surveys sent out by Blizzard
asking for opinions about TBC Classic, Blizzard reviving the
Classic Beta category
on the Battle.net app, and some
class bugfixes
that weren't originally fixed until Burning Crusade.
Now, to celebrate Blizzard's 30th anniversary leading up to BlizzConline, you can acquire the
Moon-Touched Netherwhelp
from the
Celebration Collection
.
The
Moon-Touched Netherwhelp
model is a high-definition version of the
Netherwhelp Pet
, which is obtainable from the TBC Collector's Edition.
The description for the Moon-Touched Netherwhelp adds fuel to the Classic Burning Crusade speculation as well as its level 4 ability, Ashes of Outland.
"A strange whelp hatched on Netherwing Ledge, it is thought to be blessed by the waning lunar energies of the Shadowmoon Valley."
The decision to include a netherwhelp pet instead of a Murloc is a big departure from Blizzard's previous BlizzCon rewards. Past events have always opted for murlocs themed after current content, such as
Finduin
for BFA in 2019,
Murkablo
for Diablo in 2011, and
Grommloc
for WoD in 2014. If Blizzard is continuing the tradition of foreshadowing content with battle pets, then the
Moon-Touched Netherwhelp
is a clear reference to TBC.
