Near 30,65 (the dotted lines on the map) in Tanaris you will find the Thistleshrub Dew Collectors. I would say 7.1% drop is about right, killed about 35 by myself without getting one, then joined a 49 rouge and got it first kill. Don't know if the group actually makes a difference, but it worked for me. Did the quest as a 47 NE Priest.

Ugh, what a horrible drop. I farmed this area for around two hours before one finally dropped off the collectors. On the brightside there are mithril and thorium veins in the area to also help pass the time.

Did this quest today with 1 other. Took us about 30 kills to get it to drop.
The nice thing about this quest is that once one laden dew gland drops, the entire party can loot that mob for it and complete the quest all at the same time. because of this I recommend doing it in at least a small group to make it go faster! Good luck!

Got it after the 4th kill; it's all about luck. Unless they did something in Patch 2.3.3 to make it a higher drop rate because it looks like everyone from 2.3.3 got it on the first kill or so. Might just be a coincidence.

Dropped on 12th kill for me as of patch 2.3.3.

Remember the gland only drops from dew collector's and they use exactly the same graphic model as the rootshapers.

So it's easy to go around killing rootshapers thinking your killing the right mobs, when your not. This may explain why some people have great diffocilty getting this item to drop.

Increased? No! I have done this quest with 4 other characters and got it kinda quick. I would say it's just luck. And with my current 49 mage I killed around 30 and I didnt get it. And the ganking hordes helps to ease the quest.... And after gotten ganked by a rogue a couple (aoe specc, duh) of times I deleted this quest.

I'm constantly saddened by how many people don't get statistics and percentages.

Here's a little table of kills vs. chance for a drop for you guys, based on a 7.1% drop rate:

So yeah, you could get a hundred kills and still might be one of the 6 in 10,000 people that doesn't get a drop. It's just how it works, people.

You'll find them in the South/West of Tanaris near the road to un'Goro. Don't forget to get take.. uhm.. the other quest you have to do there.. 2 birds with 1 course stone.

Took me 39 kills before I got one. (The last couple of times I did the quest only 4 or 5)

Just 'shut up' about those calculations.. Drops are RANDOM and in some cases SERVER DECIDED Yes a random drop can be turned to a %... but because the drop rate is random the drop rate changes constantly and drastically all the time.

� Thott collects it's data with? :) Not many of us have the addon so that influence the %. Lets leep it simple... Lets say 10 people (With addon) get this item on the first kill Thott thinks it's 100% While in fact those without might fight days before getting it.

� Remember how Thott was influenced by buybacks.. Shopkeepers selling tradable quest items? :)

� Disenchanting after killing NPC made Thott think you collected dust from a kill.

� Use the % on Thott as a INDICATION not a given FACT... Only Blizz knows the real droprate or how a drop is decided... Class/Race/Skill/Time/Weather.. Who knows :))

Only the Dew Collectors drop this and not rootshapers.

They both look the same so don't confuse them. 38 kills till I got it

They only drop in the mornings, we experimented with it for a while. If you try at night, all the empty glands you get would have been "laden" if you had looted them in the morning.

So don't waste you're time trying at night ;D

The whole "soft hitting" argument has plagued this quest for a long time, so long people just assume its true.

I was doing this quest before I looked at this page (and heard of the "soft hitting" argument) - I just ran through the area killing all the mobs and got it off the 3-4th Collector. I made no special attempt to hit them softly..My cat form was critting all over them.

I think people sometimes try to explain Dumb Luck/Unluck with fancy formulas and such.

Kill over 100 and finally give up and actually try to use fist to try, got it on first kill.

So I am pretty sure, u need to slowly kill to get it. I didn't use knife of anything before, I guess I just kill them too fast.

The one I use fist lasted like 4 minutes with my pet doing the 95% of the dmg.

I was in a 2man PUG doing this and the other quest in the area.

It took us awhile, but we were relieved that the first one that dropped (60+ kills?) gave the item to both of us.

6% is probably correct. Obviously, if you get it on the first hit, it is 100% for you...but that makes up for the 100's that the rest of us kill :-)

And don't listen to the soft-hit theory...twink as much as you want, Blizzard doesn't care.

A 47 & a 48 Warrior killed these dewy fools for 2 hours before emerging with 1 frickin' gland.

Easy kills but not a lot of drop action. Only 1 green drop & 1 gland in a buttload of kills.

Passed out several times, but we survived.

I have to agree with Fear. I'm in the same boat. Not 100 kills, but probably around 50, and nada. I've tried everything. No spells/special skills, no weapons. Same thing, nothing. I even tried all the AH's and couldn't find one to buy to finish this annoying quest.

6% is not a low drop rate not like yeti's Helcular's Rod... maybe the people who grinded for 2-3 hours before getting one were killing everything instead of focusing on the dew collectors, only them drop the item.

The "Laden Dew Gland" drops off "Thistleshrub Dew Collectors" with a probability of 6.17% per kill.

"Thistleshrub Dew Collectors" are found around 29,65.

This quest wasn't that bad. When you pair it with the other one where you need to kill 8 of the other 2 mobs, it's really easy. I love these mobs because their hits go for 85 dmge, which is how much my drain life tick is, so I had no downtime. I got it in about 10 kills, and dinged 48 while there. It probably took me half an hour to finish both quests.
