Confirming after 2.1, opens at least up to Steel lockbox.

Reinforced steel lockbox is 200+ lockpicking, so powerful seaforium might be needed.

This is a good item for power-leveling engineering. Solid Stone is usually cheap on the AH because it drops off mobs and is over abundant from mining to begin with. This does not go green till 220, making it an inexpensive way to get there from 200 skill.

If you look at the spell effect it says

Open Lock (Lockpicking)
Value: 250

So, guess it opens up to 250 skill?

So do you have to be an engineer to USE this? I just need something to open chests when I am soloing, but I am a Hunter specializing in Dragonscale armor, so I can't pick locks and I can't use the BS Keys. Is there anything I can use to open locked chests as a hunter?

Well, you're pretty screwed over there then. If you read the tool-tip it says "Requires Engineering 200"

the door in deadmines that you cna use the cannon can also be opened wiht seaforium
it can be picked by a rogue as well, or use the canon..

i would guess that if you find a door a rogue cna pick rather than you having to have the key, seaforium can be used as well..

i might make some mroe small charges and try em on som e low level fixed objects i ahve found that are locked..nice waste of a few hours on experimentation heh

All of the doors you have mentioned can be unlocked by "Small" seaforium charges, but a place you could use seaforium is in gnomergan. i currently have heavy seaforium, the strongest in the set, IF IT DOESNT WORK TO OPEN DOORS TO SEARING GOURGE ILL BURN b.net

I use the Large Seaforium charges to blow open the workshop doors in Gnomeregan. Very useful. Make sure you take 2 charges, there is an inside workshop door to blow as well.

Just read in a forum that Large Seaforium Charges are supposed to open the viewing room in Scholomance. o_O If that�s true, you can farm Gandling and Shadow Skin with a raid in less than 30 minutes.

Any engineers round here who can confirm this?

It can't open the door from Loch Modan to Searing Gorge.

I'd say becoming a 300 smith / engineer (Providing you're, 1. Rich, 2. that you have a 300 miner alt / main ) Would be usefull on a druid that likes to make stealth runs, but can't claim the chest or open the doors, Now i don't know about farming Gandling, because i'm not sure this works on the viewing room, but if it did, this would make looking for the headmaster's charge or you're set helm OR the ace of portals much easier, skipping 3 bosses, and about 1 or 2 hours of work. So if it did work you're looking at 30 min Scholo runs, or one hour scholo runs. Either way, do you prefer the alternative when you're just looking for gandling shwag? but it saves LOADS of time when doing your dire mall tribute Class only book quest. The loads of time being, doing DM east if your not in the party with someone who has the key. If this works on the BRD door, you could farm incendius as a rouge for his 5% ace of elementals (400 gold) card. So there are plenty of uses... my concern is the arcanite key... I could think of more, but you're probably already loosing you're attention span reading this.

The only thing i use these for is blowing the door on a DM North Tribute run.. that is, if I don't have a rogue. *shrug*

I'd say this is a pretty cheap way to skill up from 200 to 215. Stayed YELLOW until 220. I built 28 of these to skill up from 200 to 220.

I made 8 seaforium charges for my #$%^&*! to pick up the trinket in DM when I hit 54. ONce there, I could not open the door to DM north with this, it said: "Skill not high enough" I have 246 engineering.

FYI, finally the Seaforium charge is not COMPLETELY useless, it is (as of the new patch) allowed to open chests!, the skill usage of the chest opened is similar to Blacksmithing keys, E.G. the same lvl in engineering needed to make the charge is the equivalent skill given in lockpicking to open the chest

there is one really big locked door that i can think of: the one in DM North that you can't get open because the rogue in your group decided to never level up lockpicking.

BOOM your tribute run can continue.

situational like many engineering things, but useful.

I do solo DM norths first boss as a holy priest... i dont have to wait some one to open dor for me i just use these. Now u are telling me why i havent got cresent key yet ? O.o I prefer that it's just more fun to blow up doors rather than opening them with stupid keys. ^^

It can't open locked chests or Mossy Footlockers, and I have never seen any 'difficult locked doors'

since the last posting has anybody figured out which locked boxes these will open, i know the small will open the locked boxes found in zoram strand and in stonetalon mountains but not sure what else

It's cheap to make and can blow open several doors. This is extremely useful in absence of a (good) rogue.

And believe me when I say that happens too often.

i used them in DM quite useful altho you do have cannon, is it possible to open SM doors to cathedral and armoury? also does it open chests

your mouseover tooltip will not display a "difficult locked door" or anything. its just like a rogue lockpick. it'll be orange, yellow, green, grey and so forth. however, those colors will mean nothing to anyone whos not a rogue i'd think. so try it anyway =P

For anybody playing in Classic these do not work on lockboxes or chests - doors only. I made a bunch of these thinking I'd be opening locked chests only to discover that didn't become a thing until TBC.

2019 Classic confirmation: These DO work on the inner door in Dire Maul North Tribute runs that leads to Kromcrush. No need to craft the more expensive Powerful Seaforium Charges.

No level of seaforium charge can open the door from Loch Modan to Searing Gorge. It is not a matter of skill level, the seaforium charge mouse-over does not even register the door as being there.

This cannot open the door to Marshal in Blackrock Depths. For that you will need a Powerful Seaforium Charge.
