This also works for both mangles, not just cat which should make quite decent for increasing bear threat generation as you will generally mangle more than once per 12 seconds.

druids... please learn how to change idol with each diff skills while in cat form. I don't understand why ppl say "this can replace the everbloom idol" or "this is better than everbloom in terms of pve dps". You are only gimping your dps if you are not changing idols.

Here's the macro ideas:
/equip stag_idol
/cast mangle

/equip everblood
/cast shred

the 1.5 global CD doesn't even matter since you will need 2 seconds to wait for energy to come back.

Using this for tanking and I prefer the overall damage and threat boost it gives to bears over the previous ability-specific idol choices. Without doing the exact theorycrafting (there's commentary over on Elitist Jerks) I'm noticing a slight TPS increase since I got the idol. Plus, it's pretty awesome for soloing, though the animation gets annoying.

For a raiding cat, the loss in white damage doesn't seem worth the gain in AP; Everbloom is far superior. However for some fights where you can't guarantee to be shredding all the time (not that any spring to mind) it might be worth using.

when I was watching my druids DPS at shade of aran encounter I did 120k Demage by white demage and 100k by shreds. So question is will happend with my demage. I thing the Shifting Idols is good Idea but GCD is the wost thing for us .o/

using this in cat form seems to proc 100%. I have not seen a time when this did not proc. However, in bear form this seems to proc less often. (this is the Idol of Terror that I'm talking about)

even with the buff, idol of terror remains supperior in solo grinding, pve tanking, and maybe even in pve dps

the shredding idol is defineatly still better for pve dps

so in short this idol is still underpowered

The "White Stag" probably refers to Malorne or Apa'Ro in Taurahe.

This Idol could possibly work... but it would require unbelievably good timing.

Idol swapping may reset your swing timer, but if you change it bang on after a white hit. you should only take 0.1 second of auto attack time away. and then you switch back to the shred idol bang after the next white attack... I dunno but it may work.

This is a fairly powerful feral dps idol, by mangling every 12 seconds you can passively keep up the 94 AP buff.

It does indeed drop of Supremus in Black Temple.

Situationally useful, but for kitty DPS Everbloom idol will probably still beat this out, I'd love to see some theroycrafting on it though.

i will show, that youre completly wrong.
this idol sucks.

a typical rotation for a dps druid is mangle, shred, shred, rip
the everbloom idol increases your damage of this rotation by 88*1,3*2 = 229
this idol will increase your damage by
(1/14)*94*2,25*1,3*2 (2 shreds) + (
1/14)*94*1,92 (1 mangle)
+ 94*0.24*1,3 (1rip) +
(1/14)*94*15 (15 white hits) = 216

not taking into consideration Naturalist (which has the same effect on both idols and crit chance which does not increase rip damage)
a heroic item idol is superior to a black temple for cat form.
its even worse when it comes to tanking. there is no need to do maths to see, that 50 additional damage to every maul from idol of brutality is superior to 94 attack power.

This idol is awsome if you use it with everbloom idol as well. You should use both asuming the ap buff from white stag stays when you switch out the idols. Using Mangle, Shred, shred, rip

*1.3]*2=268 2 shreds

94*0.24*1.3=29.3 Rip

(1/14)94*12=80.6 normal white dmg attacks over 12 sec
Added together thats 377.9 dmg about 31.5 dps

I didn't put in mangle because the buff will most likely not affect mangle because its applied after mangle hits. If you use both idols together you get a significant boost to dps and is really simple when you use macros.

Mangle Macro
/equip Idol of the White Stag
/cast Mangle(Cat)(Rank 3)

Shred Macro
/equip Everbloom Idol
/cast Shred(Rank 7)

Just replace your shred and Mangle buttons with these macros and you don't even have to think about switching idols.

EDIT: This is usless now, Idol of Terror is way better.

in case anyone cares, the White Stag (malorne) was the father of Cenarius, greatest druid of all time, but i woulda thought that they woulda made an item from someone that important less... suckish.

wow i'm glad to see they finally made an upgrade to the level 62 idol of the wild.
however, i bet it doesn't do any more damage.
i think blizzard is doing a piss poor job at balancing game mechanics. i don't know about other classes or other druids but when i use a trinket for instance to increase my attack power it doesn't do doodley squat for damage... its pathetic.
spellcasters use a trinket or increase their spell damage and it does EXACTLY what it says.... but seems to me that all melee pop extra attack power and it does very minimal gains... so i think this is another cheap failed attempt by blizzard to make a decent idol for mangle.
also, i would have liked this if attack power were a bit more effective because i don't use shred... i think shred is stupid because if you don't crit you don't get that much more damage and you have to be behind the guy so its realy only useful for pve, unless you somehow happen to be a master and always being behind a guy in arena which i think is pretty unpractical.

For those of you who wanted Lorecraft on this.
The White Stag is also known as Malorne (coincidentally the server i play on), who is the father of the demi-god Cenarious (spelling?). Cenarious was the mentor of the first druid Malfurion Stormrage.

And thsi idol rules...Wish my druid had it but i haven't even started khara yet on him!

awesome idol 2.3 one of the best patches ever strength bonus switched to ap and hero marks are easy to get so pick up the mangle=agility idol till u can aquire this one

I have a question after going through all the comments above: I've read that switching Idols in catform resets the swing timer thus making you lose a white hit. That would make it pretty useless switching between this one and everbloom during fights (the GCD wouldnt bother me that much, but the swingtimer reset would). Is this true?
