this doesnt look anything like the other items of the quest. it looks like pile of dirt and for me it spawned under the second bridge. searched the whole area for 30-40 mins before I found it as all the other items spawned level with the bridge.

I found it behind the tree leading up to the quest givers. Lucky I found it with out having to look around to much for it.

This spawned for me at coordinates 35 47. It was on a plateau in the middle of the excavation site. However, I also saw it at the far end of the site, near the tents. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for telling us how "hard" it was to find, that doesn't really help much!
If your stuck on this part of the quest i have found it in two locations one is at: 34,45 and the other is 35,41. I hope this is some help

Loose soil looks like a big, dark brown blob. About the size of the slime mobs around the wetlands = half a human tall. If its there, you cant miss it. Found mine just over the first bridge at the entrance of the excavation site... on the second try. Nothing for an hour the first time.

Found it second time looking, up where sarltooth spawns, I think 33,51

It's not as hard to find as some people think.
It is random and therefore sometimes it spawns up on the hill at Sarltooth. To get there imagine yourself entering the excavation site then head straight to the back then as you look at the back wall ( the one with many wood "pannels" in front of it)you can get on the hills on the right and head onto this back wall.

Ok, finally after an hour I checked the site because I couldn't find it, and it was at the bottom of the path. The thing is, it looks like there are several spots that the relics spawn, and they are randomly placed in the spots, so sometimes it will be somewhere else. For me, I searched and searched and couldn't find it, figured out that it was there and got it, and then it disappeared and respawned somewhere else. Also, another tricky spot that they spawn seems to be up where the boss is, overlooking the ruin site.

as you start up the incline to the cave, its a brown clump of crap, behind the tree by the lev 22 mottled raptor.

Looking for about an hour for this dumb mound.. I finally found at right after the first bridge. Once you cross it turn left heading for the Tin Vein.. well that is where it spawned for me..

After about 20 mins of searching, I found the loose soil (Neru fragment) behind the tree at 36,42.

I emptied a medium quiver of arrows (had to go back for refills) and raised 1.25 levels looking for the Neru fragment. Killed Snarltooth several times, and helped others do so. Luckily I have herbalism so I got to pick the Bruiseweed and mageroyal several times :)

It was behind the tree.

Found it at 35,53. You have to kill sarltooth, then jump down behind the place where he is to get there.

I heard that it spawns at different places after someone looted it,I found it at a ditch. a group memeber found it before I did and when he was opening/looting it, I tried to right click and it said that the item is being used, so it isnt a drop that the whole group can get

All relics spawn in several places. If you are not finding the loose dirt pile in the main area, try up in the south end of the site near Sarltooth.

After 1hr of searching I gave up and came on here for some advice before I semtex'd Bizzard's Offices :o). For me the soil spawned where Sarltooth is - sheeeeeeeeeeesh.

For those that don't have locs:
To get to the boss "Sarltooth" when you first enter the excavation sight, there's a hill in the distance to the right. You should see wooden planks that lead to a plateau where he is.

And another place I FINALLY found the soil was behind the tree that's just to the left when you enter the site. It's the tree that you pass to go up the hill/path to the quest giveers in the cave.

I found it at 36,42 behind the tree right near the piles of Raptor eggs, at the bottom of the hill which goes to Merrin and Whelgar's cave.

It did seem hard to find, i was checking all the spots you guys suggested and no luck at all. when I found it, it was like "oh there it is"

Finally got the damn Neru Fragment up at Snarltooth. After wandering around that tree for what seemed ages decided to go find this elusive Snarltooth and sure enough the neru fragment is there at Snarltooth's location.
He is located on a plateau opposite from the tree, find 2 planks of wood up to it but beware he is not on his own he has one other raptor there too that is easy to take out if you have ranged weapon. Snarltooth is a lvl 29 raptor.

I found 2 places that it spawned for me after much searching. This first place is up the back of the excavation site overlooking the site, right next to Sarltooth in a dirt mound on the ground up there (33,51). The second place is in a dirt mound under a tree to the right of the excavation site about a third of the way in (33,44-45).

After looking for a long time around the lower areas I finally found it in a much higher location. Co-ords 31, 50. I needed to go around the side from the north to get there.

I know where the usual spawn spots are for this fragment, so was surprised when I couldn't find it for at least 20 minutes. After several complete cycles of the dig (netting me a total of 35 Raptor Egg), I found it had spawned in a previously unknown (to me) location. On a ledge at 34.7, 52.6 (only accessible by going past Sarltooth and jumping down) was the deviously hidden mound of dirt.
