The Use ability averages out to 15 mana per 5 sec, which in addition to the Equip equals 24 per 5 regen.

You have to consider the cooldown for the average. It has a 5 minute = 300 second cool down. So 900 mana in every 300 seconds is 3mps or 15mp5. Although that does make it average out to 29mp5.

The burst mana regen is probably more useful than looking at the average. I'd love to have a second innervate, even if this one is weaker.

I was just linked one of these in game, and it said 1116 to 1128 mana over 12 seconds. Can anyone confirm the changed stats, or is it affected by something (like your current m/5)?

yea, im sure you can get this an drop jc.

And JC is actually ridiculously easy to level. 1-275 you might spend 50-100g total (use recipes that are the CHEAPEST avaiable orange and yellow, just train the ones from the trainer, buy everything off the AH. MAKE USE OF THE STONE FIGURES.)

After that, 275-300 is REALLY espensive. You'll probably spend 500g going those 25. Then 300-350 or so is easy as hell, because green gems sell on the AH for like their vendor price + 10 silver. I grinded the green recipes of green gems 350-360, just cause they were so cheap.

After that you should have at least 1 blue gem recipe (get one from a rep person if you don't). Buy the gems (expensive), and sell them, you'll MAKe money leveling your prof.

365-375 get a meta gem pattern from some vendor and buy those and make them. Once again, they sell for a profit. JC is really easy to level.

Anyway, this is, imo, the best healing trinket in the game. 29 mp5? Unparalleled. There are VERY few trinkets with mp5.

Worth it to go JC just to get this thing, imo.

Assuming you first use the trinket 30 seconds into an encounter, and use it thereafter every time the cooldown is up, to how much mp5 does the total mana gained equate?

1 minute fight: 1068 total mana, or 89 mp5 (168 from the on-equip 14 mp5 + 900 from the use effect)
2 minute fight: 1236 mana -> 51.5 mp5 (1068 from the first minute + 168 more)
3 minute fight: 1404 mana -> 39 mp5
4 minute fight: 1572 mana -> 32.75 mp5
5 minute fight: 1740 mana -> 29 mp5
6 minute fight: 2808 mana -> 39 mp5 (1740 + 168 + 900 use again)
7 minute fight: 2976 mana -> ~35 mp5
8 minute fight: 3144 mana -> 32.75 mp5
9 minute fight: 3312 mana -> 30.66 mp5
10 minute fight: 3480 mana -> 29 mp5
11 minute fight: 4548 mana -> ~34.5 mp5
etc

Eventually, the length of the fight will reduce the effect of the on-use mana spikes and the long term mana regen rate will approach 29 mp5 (as has been stated above), but it is worth noting the benefits you get from "front-loading" the usage of the trinket, especially for 6 or 7 minute long fights where you get to squeeze in two uses.

Those that came to this item while looking for good MP5 trinkets should also consider the Alchemist's Stone. It's overlooked since it says "mana per 5" nowhere on it, but if you use mana potions continually throughout a fight, then the trinket is effectively 40 mp5, which is absolutely untouchable. This Talasite Owl trinket is the 2nd best as far as I can tell, and so doing Alchemy and Jewelcrafting for professions could be an interesting combination (the former suffers a little bit without Herbalism, but you could hopefully pay for your potion addiction with JC).

Does the on use effect of this trinket receive a bonus due to innervate now since innervate has been changed to flat out increase all forms of mana regeneration by 400% ?

It's being fixed in 2.4.2:

Talasite Owl: This trinket will now properly restore full mana as described.

It shouldn't any longer only return 750 mana upon use.

I don't know what you were smoking when you wrote that... Using WoWWiki's guide to the most efficient jewelcrafting leveling (http://www.wowwiki.com/Jewelcrafting_300_Skill_Guide), my total comes up WAY higher than yours does. I thought this actually feasible before I started looking up prices... but you seem to have grossly underestimated the cost or the economy on your server is freaking amazing.

By my calculations on Darkspear-US, the rough cost is ~2,300g to level jewelcrafting from 1-300. I'm sure that some of it would be good for selling, but definitely not all of it... and the guide was not designed for making the most profit, just the cheapest way to level using orange recipes taught at trainers (using yellows will lower the end cost a bit). Still, no where close to 600g as you said 1-300 would cost.

Going from 300-350 I'll bet would be pretty easy, just purchasing, cutting, and reselling gems. Relatively low money loss.

350-375 will require a large chunk of change upfront to grab the expensive mats, but you should be able to make a little overhead.

In the end, I very well might spend the time to farm the mats and cash in order to do this. I would drop enchanting 285 and keep MC tailoring 375. Heck, I may even hang on to it and keep JCing thru WotLK... But I am DEFINITELY tempted by this (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=24127) and the upgraded version with a shorter cd and more mp5 (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=35703). Also nice fact - both can be equipped, both can be used (one buff DOES overwrite the other, so wait 12 seconds for the first to finish), and the cd timers will keep ticking while they are sitting in your bags so you can swap them out as you wish.

It's not like these are the only good things that will come out of the profession, so it might be worth the switch for me. (Lvl 70 Resto Druid)

Edit: Also went ahead and calculated the cost vs Darkspear-US for both trinkets.

Essentially this is 29 mp5 if you were to use it every time it was up.

(5 minute cooldown = 300 seconds.
300 seconds = 60 ticks of 5 seconds.
900 mana divided by 60 ticks = 15 mana per 5 seconds plus the 14 mp5 passive)

Actually it might be a bit better than that even - well for raid content anyway...

If you consider that most Raid boss fights take less than 10 minutes and more than, say 6 or 7 minutes.

So pop it once your mana dips under 900 below your max and then again once the cool down is up.

Say your average raid boss fights last a round 100 ticks (8.3 mins) - you pop your trinket twice for 1800 mana. Well now that's 18 mp5 and 14 mp5 for a total of 32 mp5. That's like wearing 2 Fel Reaver Pistons in one slot - amazing...

I haven't crafted this yet, but whenever someone links it to me as a full resto shammy, it says it restores 1120 mana over the 12 seconds. Can anyone confirm if its affected by restorative totems? I'll see if I can later

showing more than the 900 for shammys is probebly a display bug, much like shadowweave shows 12% health back for shadow priests(instead of 2%), but doesnt give the effect.

you can have both owls equipped emerald and talasite and using one DONT add a cooldown on the other but if you click the 2nd owl it overwrites the current regen buff.

just wait the 8 seconds and then activate the other owl if want use them both.

tbh i wish for an epic upgrade of this GEM of a trinket soon :)

This trinket makes me want to drop herbing and level JC on my healing priest (lol we still exist!1111) $%^&*!edly good for such cheap mats, i wouldnt replace this for a long long time. (Simply one of the best for long fights)

True, the Use adds another 15 MP5 for 12 seconds, however since it has a 5 minute (300 second) cooldown, the actual +MP5 given over the time you can use it is closer to 0,577.

(Note: above is meant merely as a joke and even though the number is correct for a 312 second time it's way better than the above number would imply).
