These give you +10 spell damage and healing for ten minutes. When that ten minutes is over, you get a Bloodthistle Withdrawal debuff for 20 minutes, which reduces your spirit by 5. Using more Bloodthistle Petals removes the debuff until the new buff ends, at which point it comes back. I don't know if using normal Bloodthistle will remove the debuff, or if it gives a similar debuff.

You can only get this particular kind of Bloodthistle by completing the quest "The Party Never Ends" and picking it up from the nearby tables.

You can also get free springpaw appetizers and very weak alcohol from the same tables.

Bloodthistle petal is one of the party favors to which you are entitled after completing the quest for Saltheril's Haven Party. The item promises to increase damage and healing from spells by a "small amount' for 10 minutes. What the item fails to inform you is that this insignificant buff is followed by a 20 minute debuff of your spirit by 5 points. In my case as a blood elf priest, this amounted to about 15% of my spirit.

The +dmg and healing is 10 points so not too bad for a newb Blood Elf that doesn't need a lot of spirit such as a lock. Also, one way to keep the debuff from occurring at an inopportune moment is to keep a stack of 5 of these on you and don't let the buff expire. Once you use another one, the debuff goes away also.

Just completed this ummm...quest? Turned in the invite to Lord Saltheril at Saltheril's Haven at 38.1, 73.5 in Eversong Woods. Found some goods on the patio around a bunch of party animals doing a lot of laughing. There was wine, picked up a few; and Bloodthistle petals - was allowed 5 of these only - and what looked like large chicken or turkey drumsticks. The drumsticks are good for +61 health over 18 seconds, the wine is stated as having a being light and fruity with a magical aftertaste, the wine heals for an unspecified amount. Not sure what the Bloodthistle is used for if anything - going to hang onto them for a bit anyway. Tossed the wine and the drumsticks. After watching everything for a while noticed some of the wine bottles of the tiered serving tables pour themselves occasionally. Not likely to return, once was interesting.....
