It's a new item on an old mob. Thottbot includes all of the loads of a mob over all time, so only a small percentage have loaded it despite a much higher actual drop rate.

is glittering dust not a quest item? it will only drop on these mobs if you are on the quest, therefore the droprate is bound to be very very low, because not everybody that kills the mob is on the quest.

I've just killed #40 and no drop yet. Yes I have the quest.

First of all get raid assist now please. It will allow you to do many, many things, including using the coordinate system.

Secondly, I just killed 24 blood elves at the camp located at 58,28, and got 10 glittering dust. That makes for a 41.6% drop rate - not too shabby.

Thirdly, at lvl 60 the biggest thing I had to deal with was keeping mana in me but even that was a small matter. I had to evocate twice, whoopdeedoo. I was using counterspell in almost every fight so I may be wrong, but I think one of the reclaimers healed herself in mid-battle. The surveyors seem to prefer hand-to-hand combat rather than casting, whereas the reclaimers are primarily casters. Both reclaimers and surveyors dropped the glittering dust.

Lastly are there male blood elves? The ones at this camp are all female!

This was really hard for my 51 mage.
Being that it's a mage quest, you wouldn't think they would make you face nasty caster mobs that can BOTH FIREBALL LIKE A MAGE AND HEAL BETTER THAN A PRIEST? What the hell, is this a bug or something?

Not to mention, these are another mob that has no spell "hit" animations. So you can't tell if your spells are hitting or being resisted. They just go "puff" when they hit. Really fricken annoying. You'd think after 1 year + they could get around to fixing stupid bugs like this..

Anyway the drop rate is more like 40%... It didn't take long, about 20 kills or less? The hard part was learning how to deal with the cheating mobs :P

i just finished this part of the quest and the only hard part i had was when some other people showed up and starting killing the elves too ;)

I'd say the drop rate was around 30%. The elves were mostly lvl 52 with some 51's and 53's ... all of them were pretty easy for me to kill.

pretty easy as a lvl 50 mage. Use fire ward and when they are casting to heal just use counterspell

Use CounterSpell

Use Ice Barrier if you have it.

Easy quest, simply put.

Coordinates are at 55,26 which is the north part of the "C" shaped zone, about middle, coast side but above the cliff. Drops from all of them at about a 20% drop rate.

Easy kills for sure - fireward, counterspell, etc. I think that these mobs actually have about 700 less HP than they should at their level...

But has anyone noticed that they have a supremely high aggro range? I swear it isn't normal - I'm a 52 mage so I'm basically the same level as them, and they aggro from MUCH further away than other mobs.

Took me 37 to get all 10. 27% not too low really.

The drop rate is low because the dust only drops for those on the Mage quest... plenty of other classes probably farm these for runecloth, money, etc.

Took me 38 kills to get 10. Got a higher % from the survey guys (7 dust from 17 kills) and only 3 dust from 21 of the reclaimer mobs.

The drop rate is mutc higher than Thottbot says... And as a lvl 50 it was pretty easy to kill them

drop rate is much higher than 2% if you have the quest. 0% if you don't have it of course but about 50%+ if you do have the quest. i killed about 5 with no dust, then the next 5 all had dust.

I didnt count how many I killed but it didn't take me but an hour to get the 10 dusts. level 56 undead mage.
