These fall very well off of the owlbeasts in winterspring. The easiest thing to do as horde is to get the quest from Bloodvenom Post to kill the ragged and raging owlbeasts. By the time you're done you'll have a few stacks of the ironfeathers.

Also, Warlocks farm a ton of these Owl Beasts for their Epic 60 Mount quest, Rage of Blood https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=7563

You can probably look forward to about 3 stacks, for that quest alone.

Where is the best place to farm these? I'm a lvl 53 Druid.

...is the Thunderhead hippogryphs (the higher level ones on the northern peninsula) in Azshara. Why? All of the recipes that require these require a good deal of leather. The hippogryphs are the only monsters that both drop these and are skinnable.

(You may ignore this comment if, for some reason, you are not a skinner but are still farming these.)

I farm these from the birds flying around in Deadwind Pass. The drop rate isin't super, but the birds are easy to kill (I'm a 55 resto-druid) and the spawns are spaced nicley to where I can just run around a circle track catching the respawns until I have all the needed feathers.

The IF shoulders/breastplate are more expensive on Crushridge it seems, as they don't show up in AH often and usually cost 25g+.

I've just started farming these with my lvl50 Druid.

My favourite spot for farming these is Azshara. The Thunderheads go down pretty quickly, they're numerous and they respawn quickly.

Sometimes I don't get any feathers from a kill, however, that evens out whenever I get like 2-3 feathers from one.

During the first 20-30 minutes of farming I got about 25 feathers.

I don't know about selling them since I farm them for a guildmate who can make the Ironfeather-armour.

Since most people just sell them to the vendors I started to tell people to send them to me for 2 silver a piece.

Considering the time it takes to farm them I'd say 2-3 gold for a stack of 50.

On my server, they sell as high as 9G for a stack of 50. One thing to remember is that people are lazy and don't want to farm hence they'd much rather blow the money and get the item now then go out and farm for it.

One info: The stags & "Thunderhead Skystormers" share the same spawn points - so if you ever wonder why there are less and less hippogryphs, start slaying some stags ^^

I've been running around killing Wildkin in Winterspring for about half an hour getting giant eggs for omelets and have almost 40, they drop 2 and 3 at a time and there are many many owlbeasts to kill here. Plus, since they are humanoid, they also drop coin. It's a good all around farming outing :)

a great spot for mining is winterspring directly east of starsomething village. moonkin-looking things and owls drop these beauties like none other

The Hidden Grove in Winterspring has many an owlbeast that drop these 2-3 at a time (65,15).

Imba drop rate for me on Owlbeasts in winterspring i got 1-3 every 2 mobs :)

Winterspring is the place for these..Every Yeti I killed at Ice Thistle Hills had them

I've gotten quite a few of these in Winterspring. I was busy doing my level 60 warlock quest killing the owl beasts in and around the Hidden Grove north of Everlook and got 3 stacks of 50 in under a half an hour.

i found out this is easy to solo u don't have to do that much... just kill every kind of owlbeasts coz they all is dropping them

Best place i found to farm these is Deadwing Pass if you are high enough to farm there. The respawn in very quick and you can run the loop around killing them and by the time you get back to the beginning those have respawned. Took my main out to farm them..<lvl 70 Warrior> killing them fast and they were still spawning ahead of me.

Also made a ton of money on gray junk that drops along with the feathers. 45 minutes of farming netted me 80 feathers and 9 gold in grays.

CAUTION: Watch out for Raid groups on their way to Kara running past you..if you are lower level or seem vulnerable they will make your life miserable. (I suited up in my PVP gear with enchanted weapons to look more ominous...found that most avoided me that way...lol)

You can also find these off the owlbeasts in the Hinterlands, dropped somewhat frequently when I was questing there.

In my experience these can often be found quite cheaply in large quantities on AH. Need to get a bundle of them for the Ironfeather set.

I've found that this feathers are dropping by the buckets from the Winterspring Owls. A non agrressive lvl 56'ish type creature. I'm out here hunting for other mobs on quests and while I wait for them to re-spawn I started to kill these owls and low and behold x2 or x3 iron feathers per bird and every bird I've killed has dropped feathers.

Ofcourse I can't use them for anything. So AH it is for me.

Just wish things I did need dropped that well.

These also drop off the birds in the Deadwind Pass :) I got 13 just on one run through.

best place i found to grind these things is at 59,59 in winterspring, moonkin "owlbeast" mobs 56-59, prob is if you arent at least 54 u cant grind it, when the Ironfeather set is 49 and 53... u can also grind from 47-52 birds in felwood, but the drop rate isnt very good and there isnt a set camp of them... they are just around. the moonkins tend to either drop three or none, but more often three. the birds usually dont drop any, but sometimes drop 1-2.

Best place to farm these I Have found is raging owlkins in Wintersprings. Seems like every one drops 1-3

these go for basically vendor price on my server right now so i just vendor them, i imagine it would be cheap if you needed to buy them and didnt want to farm them
