Usually twink rogues will have Shadowfang and Assasin's blade with 15+ agi on both. Dont try to run threw SFK to find this it is a rare drop and doesnt come easy. I ran threw SFK about 40 times and no Assasin's Blade or Shadowfang.

This also drops off random leper gnomes outside Gnomeregan, that's how I got mine. Another great sword is Searing Blade, but that's a 2-hander.
In my realm it's about 20g on the AH.

Just got one of these last night. I've been farming SFK for about 2-3 weeks now gearing up a Rogue for the Xpac. I've hit SFK about 30-40 times & this is the first time this has dropped. Mine dropped off a Son Arugal near the end of the instance. I'll be wearing Shadowfang & Assassin's Blade come lvl 19.

Lots of twink rogues with this have crusade, big mistake, id go for either 15 agil, or lifestealing, lifestealing is by far the most underrated twink enchant for lvl 19.

I took my 70 mage in to get the assassins blade which I have been trying to get forever, and shadowfang dropped in 2 straight runs in there, so my rogue has shadowfang and still oooking for assassins blade, my wife had her 70 mage in stocks doing that and got red beard crest and feet of lynx, and sentry cloak in 2 runs in there. Good nite last nite.

I think the temptation to farm for this is too great.
The payout however is well worth it. Easily sold for 150G + and with a nice enchant it can fetch upwards of 180G.

awsome weapon got it first time through easyer to get if you can farm the instance with a high lvl mage with arcane explosian, combustian, frost nova, blizzard, and flamestrike then you can take out more enmies and have more runs and quicker runs

This is even rarer than the assassin's blade on my server. I have NEVER seen it on the AH.

I was extremely fortunate to have this drop during a second SFK run. I was farming for my undead rogue twink, but had no intentions of farming for this, but rather wool cloth to boost his first aid.

I killed a few undead officers on the ramparts, and low and behold it dropped. I had to smack myself a few times, because I thought I was dreaming. : )

I can amagine that most people want there own twink but they didnt have enough money! I can show how to make a twink who isnt very very expensive, but he is powerfull!
I make an example for a rogue twink :

Main-Hand - Cruel Barb or Stinging viper cuz theyre BoP and they wont cost ya anything! Enchanted with Striking.

Off-Hand - Cruel Barb, also enchanted with Striking.

Ranged - Venomsrike or Thick bronze darts.

Head - Green tinted goggles, if you dont wanna lvl ur engineering you can just use flying tiger goggles cuz the first lvls with engi are going mostly very quik!

Neck - Scouts/Sentinells medaillon.

Chest - Blackened defias armor or Tunic of westfall with 50 health its not so expensive.

Back - Glowing lizardscale cloak or Firebane cloak, it will cost ya 10-15g if u have patience, enchanted with 3 agi.

Feet - Bristlebark boots or Footpads of the fang, they are almost even good as feet of the lynx. Enchanted with 5 stam.

Legs - Leggings of the fang with a medium armor kit on it.

Shoulder - Talbar Mantle, if ur alliance it will be much easyer to get serpents shoulders or Bandits shoulders or sumfin else.

Waist - If you will do some WC you will have the mats for Deviate Scale Belt and u need to find someone who can make it and he cant ask more than 2g fee.

Wrist - Forest leather bracers enchanted with 7 stamina.

the only reason captain springvale has the "highest" droprate is that he's been killed less times than normal mobs. I'm 90% sure it's the same chance from any mob in this instance.

ok this is a nice sword but if ur interested in saving sum cash then u might wanna look at Skeletal Club https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=2256 its got same proc its faster but dont do as much damage or give +shadow damage....but its bout 225g cheaper than Shadowfang......i personally prefer Skeletal Club myself......

It's startling to see that this weapon has the same DPS as a green Lv 29 one-hander. And against targets with 0 SR the net damage output is even higher since both the added shadow damage and the proc ignore armor.

got both the Shadowfang and the Assassins Blade.. (+15 agility on both) and its a nice set.. i got lucky and paid only 125/175.. each.. did the chants myself.. so free chant.. I suggest that if your twinking a rogue, which most people who require this weapon do.. (go combat spec) since you dont do much stealthing in wsg.. its usful but rather bothersome when you think about it.. you need the honor points more than the marks.. and getting all your pvp gear for the rest of the game.. is far more important.. The only characters you should see with this sword, are : paladins (Retribution spec) rogues, and "Maybe" a warrior. Better weapons out there for warrior.. and 2 handed is much more potent. ...

I would consider getting your pvp dagger (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=20443 for alliance, https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=20441 for horde) over Assasian's Blade due to the added stamina. Almost all the rogues in my guild (that don't dual daggers) use Shadowfang for the main hand, and Scout's Blade in their off-hand.

I've done some smaller calculations on this weapon:
This weapon is by far one of the greatest lvl 19 twink weapons ingame, as stated above.

The weapon does 29-55dmg + an addotional 4-8shadow dmg. This makes the average damage the weapon deal 48 and the dps becomes 17.8.

Of course you prefer fiery/icy or +15 agi enchants on these weapons, but my goal is to max the WHITE dps this weapon deal. If you add a +4wpn dmg enchant on this weapon, the dps becomes:

(29+55+4+8+4+4)/2=52 52/2.7=19.25 WHITE dps.

Then adding the additional shadowbolt dmg (i've counted with 1 proc every 15 hit, meaning 2 additional dmg per hit) makes the dps go up to 20dps, which is far more superiour than any other lvl 19 weapon.

With Fiery:
If you enchant your Shadowfang with fiery wpn, you simply add about 240dmg/min, which means an additional 4dps

The wpns dps then lands on: 22.5dps and a max dmg on (counting procs and white dmg): 63+30+40=133dmg!

Add attackpower and crit to that 63 dmg and im sure a max crit could be about 600-700dmg, if not more. And we are talking lvl 19.

ZeRo - I've critted 370 with sinister (Buffed with Beserking). And i usually normal crit for 240-250, yes i am a fisher twink but you can still obtain high agi without it

Phou - I've had +4 Wpn damage on barb (12 extra AP) And i never hit anywhere near 300...700 is a pipedream.

Shadowfang is an absolute legend though, proc is cool since your character does an action when it does...17.8 DPS is nearly as good as the TWO-HANDED twink items... I'd reccommend it to any real twink :)

I ran SFK 4 times today soloing it (mostly for loot and gold, level 39 hunter, cant afford mount so dun wanna level >.<) And Shadowfang dropped twice. the first one I got was Commander Springvale, as well as the second from an officer on the ramparts. I thought i was seeing things, not only looting one which is rare enough, but a second blew my mind . I was so excited i bailed from the dungeon and forgot about finishing the instance.

I noticed here on WoWhead and Thottbot both say that lvl 20-25 elite in SFK drop this. But i've done SFK today a few times and the highest mob lvl is 21! and thats Arugul. So.. Does it still drop off the level 18-21 elites in SFK?

With regards to farming for this weapon, don't do it. Just because your friend managed to score one of these in a couple of runs doesn't mean you're going to do the same thing - that's what we call a fallacy. It's far more worth your time to do higher level quests for guaranteed cash flow rather than clear a low level instance repeatedly and pray for the best. You'll be sure to find one of these on the AH later on and you can buy it with the money you made doing quests and grabbing loot along the way.

Worthy of note, the 4-8 extra shadow damage has uses apart from sheer extra pwning.
Ever gotten tired of pallies popping blessing of protection on someone (or themselves) and the blessed target instantly jumps into a healing hut, and you can't interrupt the healing? Well, the 4-8 doesn't count as physical damage apparently, as it goes right through a blessing of protection, as does the proc.
I like that.
(Won't work on Divine Shield though, that one protects from spelldmg too.)

Yes Mortent but most people get feet of the lynx with 7 stamina or minor speed increase, i got Dexterity on my feet (12 agility) and Libram of Voracity on my head. You CAN get more agility with Feet of the Lynx but you'd lose 12 stamina to gain 3 agility.

But yes i agree they're mainly for stamina and the BC enchants :)

I'm soloing SFK with my lvl 50 shaman. I'm doing SFK to Commander Springvale and then I'm starting it over, because the highest drop rate is from the mobs before him and him. Well there are mobs after him but I think this is a good way to farm Shadowfang and then I'm getting Assassin's Blade and Black Malice at the same time. You can get a high price from them easy.

You don't have to agree with me, but I think that is a good way to farm SFK. Fast and moneymaking.
( If you are making a twink and your money is getting to coppers.. Try this style for 5 days to a week. )

I think to have a 50% chance to get this you have to run SFK about 500 times. To have a 50% chance to get Assassin's blade you have to run it about 150 times. To have a 75% chance, you have to run it twice as many times. To have an 87.5% chance you have to run it that many times again, etc.

Ok, your all thinking OMG i need this fricking blade, well your god damn right you do! But... If anyone gets their hands on this, i suggest keeping the blade for when they make a twink rogue. You can get 500g in a day questing in outlands when ya get there. You can't get this blade every time you go through SFK. Plus.. in outland, let me tell ya, if you are in outland questing for an hour, you have a 60% chance on a green item dropping, and WOW, you have a 45% chance for a blue item, and the most amazing thing is that it's a 25% chance for an epic!! Lastly, i've just realized that a twink warlock could use this as a very effective blade. The +4-8 shadow dmg and the chance on hit for 30 shadow dmg. Great warlock blade, i guarantee it.

So I'm sitting here thinking about weapons to twink my Rogue out with and I came out with this composition.

Assassin's Blade = 1.90 Speed, 4 agility, 3 strength 15.5 dps
Shadowfang = 2.70 Speed, 17.8 dps, COH: 30 shadow damage
Cruel Barb = 2.80 Speed, 15.5 dps, 12 AP
Wingblade = 2.20 Speed, 5 agility, 2 stamina, 15.7 dps
Scout's Blade/Sentinel's Blade (Warsong Gulch pvp daggers) = 1.70 Speed, 4 agility, 2 stamina, 15.3 dps

After putting together this information here is what I came up with.

Assasin's Blade/Wingblade is by far the best combo due to the stats and the median of the dps. If you were to throw 15 agility on both of these (Which 90% of real twink rogues do) that would give you about 39 Attack power, plus a decent amount of dodge. On a side note, this combo would provide the most dps (With enchants of course) meaning with 200+ attack power that a good amount of twink rogues have with this combo the odds of you one shotting a cloth wearer with a crit ambush is more often then not by far.

But for those that aren't intrested in paying out the ass for there rogue then Cruel barb/pvp Dagger is also a phenomenal choice. You also get +crit, +dodge, and +ap with this set, and you dont have to clear out your life savings just to stab someone this is obviously the best choice. It will take you a maximum of a 6 hours to farm the honor, and if you have a high level running you through dead mines you will most likely knock out both in the same day.

In all honesty, I would sugest to everyone reading this to rule out shadowfang. The dps is higher then any one handed weapon you will get in the 10-19 bracket. And yes you can always get the enchant on it blah blah but its less effort then its worth. The chance on hit is something that I personally think blizzard just rolled a dice and flipped a coin and thats what it came out with. The main reasons for not wanting Shadowfang is: 1. the speed is to slow for my taste. 2. the chance on hit makes me gag. 3. It's a sword. A rogue will lose out on the backstab/ambush abilitys if they group this with another sword.

My personal oppinion on this matter is, if you have the money, go for victory. I personally have 2 level 70's, stocked with a decent amount of gold on both. Considering I love daggers with all of my soul I'm going to spend my time camping the auction house for the Assassin's blade and farming honor for the Scouts Blade.

This is just my outlook on this never ending subject, and I hope it has helped someone.

In addition to my earlier post on the nerfed DR.

As you know, the mobs in this instance had their level reduced. Due to the Item Level of this sword it can now drop off even less mobs than before, as if it wasn't rare enough already. So expect it to shoot up in price(i've seen it go for 1k gold on Outland, bought it myself for 75 silver 3 months ago)on most if not all realms.

Your right about one thing, it does drop off any mob that's level 21+, but you forgot one thing:
With patch 2.3 most SFK mobs have been nerfed to level 18-20; only 5 mobs are still level 21+:

Odo the Blindwatcher
Fenrus the Devourer
Wolf Master Nandos
Archmage Arugal
Deathsworn Captain (rare-spawn)

All 5 of these bosses have a .01% chance to drop ONE rare level 19-20 BoE item.
There are 5 rare BoE items that they could drop:

Gloomshroud Armor
Necrology Robes
Duskbringer
Assassin's Blade
Shadowfang

So, since each boss level 21+ has a .01% to drop ONE of the above items, and there are 5 bosses (including the rare-spawn boss), there is a .05% chance that ONE of the above items drops during a run. Since there is a 1-in-5 chance (20%) that the item dropped is Shadowfang, the chance that Shadowfang drops AT ALL is:

(.05%) * (20%) = .01% (roughly 1 Shadowfang every 10000 runs!!!)

Without the rare-spawn boss, the chances are reduced:

(.04%) * (20%) = .008% (roughly 1 Shadowfang every 12500 runs!!!)

So in conclusion: Shadowfang is pretty damn rare, with about a .009% drop rate. But you knew that, right?

Vendetta, out of RFK, is in the same boat. It is not really a question of money, it and Shadowfang never turn up in the AH, at least not on my server. After hundreds of runs of SFK and RFK I feel like giving up. You have to wonder what on earth Blizzard is thinking of. They are making the high level items easier to obtain and the twink items....

I think in the latest patch they might have nerfed SFK even more -- only the last three bosses were 21+ mobs. Most everything else was 19 with a few 20's.

My server is the same, this blade is NEVER in AH. The couple times I've seen it on the trade channel, it was being sold for 2000+. I imagine that changing it to a one handed weapon and nerfing SFK even more, the price is going to skyrocket even more.

I probably gna get alot of ^&*! writing this, but Shadowfang is not much better than a Cruel barb.
I say this from own experience.
Shadowfang got 2.70 attack speed and cruelbarb got 2.90.
If your a rogue you want a slow wepon in Main hand (Becose of all instant attacks)
I dont say Cruel barb is better but if you dont want to waste month after month searching AH (like you have to do on my server) Cruel Barb is a good option.

Btw the ap buff on Cruelbarb is better than the 30dmg shadowbolt

I started leveling a 19 twink rouge, and decided I wanted Shadowfang and Assassins Blade. I was very put off about having to run it thousands of times, becasue of the lowering of the mob levels. But when I had a level 20 world BOE blue drop off one of the level 20 mobs, I started to wonder how true it was that they would only drop of 4-5 mobs. So i asked a GM. The gm told me that though she can not give me the drop rate, in her "personal opinon" the drops are the same. Followed by a wink wink emote.

So they should drop off of the same mobs.

If you're Alliance and you're paying 100g+ for this sword you're retarded, plain and simple. Ask a guildie to run DM a couple of times to get 1-2 Cruel Barbs, and if you're lucky, Defias Tunic and VC's Cloak as well. Agree to pay him 10g per run (keep the linen/wool clothes and sell them) and get bunch of kickass twink items instead of just one sword. How about that?

ok well you ca call me a noob all you want but i dont think this sword is even that good i use the pvp dagger/tail spike and they are great this weapon has no stats whats so every pvp daagger has 4 agi and 2 stm and tail spike has 3agi 2 str and they are both easy to get! ive put 15 agi on both of them! i did farm sfk for a bit but i think the amount of efferet need to get this is way over the top if your going to farm for this or ass blade then i would take some noob with you and get him to pay you at lest 5g a run and just have master looter set to you good luck if you can be arsed to farm it!

This thing sells for 900+ gold on Silvermoon server. I kid you not. The economy is ridiculous now. I'm going to go into SFK and farm one to sell myself. I'll have enough for my epic mount in one sale. Sad, really.

I made an Excel spreadsheet and inputted all the mobs in Shadowfang Keep along with the drop rates for each of the bind on equip blue items that drop there.

I then multiplied each mob's drop rate by the average number of that type of mob in each instance (based on an average of several runs) to get the number of runs it would take to get each item on average.

I have calculated the drop rate to be:

Assassin's Blade: 1 in 85 runs
Shadowfang: 1 in 100 runs
Either Assassin's Blade or Shadowfang: 1 in 45 runs
Any bind on equip blue item: 1 in 5 runs

I did not include chests in the calculations since some are locked and not everyone is able to open them (Rogues or blacksmiths ftw).

So the guy who posted a 1.15% was pretty close. I came up with 1.12% (1 in 85).

Hope this helps.

You may turn your nose up at paying 100g but if you were an herbalist, think how many high level herbs you could pick in the same time it takes to farm one of these. You'd be MUCH better off just buying it. If you like farming lowbie instances (I do sometimes), that's cool, go for it. If you want to be efficient with your time, don't.

Okay, i am $%^&ing pissed off, i have run SFk 137 times (yes i counted), for a Shadowfang and Assassin's blade. I have gotten only 3 things all those runs: Night Reaver, Guillotine Axe, and some crap Witching Stave. I barely even make much money off the runs, mebbe 1g per run and that goes for repairs and crap, i am so aggravated, the loot % is totally wrong, i hate everyone that gets it ontheir first runs and so, i am so pissed i feel like giving up but ineed it : (

Ok here is some info for everyone that is looking for this sword.

The sword now goes for 1500 - 2000 G on average now, if you actually see one for sale.

After the 2.3 patch the sword rarly drops if ever. This was a trash mob drop from SFK, it ONLY droppped from level 21+ trash mobs. Since patch 2.3 Blizzard lowered the mobs in SFK and there are no longer any 21+ trash mobs.

There have only been a couple confirmed drops off of any boss that is 21+ (Arugul, odo, fenrus, nandos, and the silver rare) since 2.3.

there have been many many threads opened with blizzard about this but they refuse to even respond to them.

This goes for any level 19 blue BOE that drops from SFK, so that is the assasin's Blade also.

If anyone gets a drop please post it with a screen shot to help provide any more info.

ok, a few months ago i was getting low on money so i wanted to do this instance for either this or Assassin's Blade or ne BoE blue i could sell for a lot. i couldnt do it easily on my main tho cuz im a lock and the guys in the beggining that can be immune to magic and the guys that r immune to shadow dmg just piss me off.

now it may sound wierd that i actually kept track of how many runs i did, but i did, and im not lying here. i did 27 runs on my friends 70 rogue, no dice, not even a blue item at all. Next up was my other friends 70 warrior, and i did at least 33 runs(thats where i lost track) and no shadowfang or assassin's, but a couple blues. keep in mind that i opened every chest in sight cuz the rogue can lockpick and the warrior had a ton of skeleton keys.

So let me sum this up, i did about 60 runs of SFK, and out of all these runs i got Redbeards Crest(sold for 20g) and twisted chanters staff (sold for about 30g), so all together i got 50g, and i had to use that 50g to repair my friend's chars gear...so back to my main point, so not worth the runs =/

I managed to find a person who is insane(has to be lol) about lvl 19 twinks. I found one today and sold it for a whopping 225g. I am extremely happy, except for the usual lag on kilrogg. =(

It's way cooler in D2, it's all cold themed there. The WoW model looks the same as the D2 art too. Blizzard are kind to us D2 fans.

It's really easy farming the SFK twink items at lvl 60 and selling them for too much gold...

I've been deliberating this for a while... I already have Cruel Barb in main, but the Shadowfang has a much higher DPS (17.8 vs. 15.5) and have been wondering if I should replace the Cruel barb in the unlikely event I should actually get the Shadowfang.

I have a lvl 19 Rogue twink for WSG, and I decided that Cruel barb was actually better despite the lower DPS.
Firstly, you can only have SF in main hand (bummer if you want to use a dagger in main such as assassin's blade from SFK) which also means you can duel wield CB.
Secondly, CB has a higher damage range (30-57) so that means your sinister strike does more damage anyway. the DPS difference may look huge, but actually SF is only 0.1 seconds faster and has a dmg range of (29-55) so all in all I think the difference is deceptive.
Thirdly, CB gives you +12 attack power which increases your DPS by 1.9, giving a total of 17.4.
The bonus for the SF (+ 4-8 Shadow damage) gives no use to a rogue whatsoever.
Lastly, the drop rate on CB is about 10% compared with the 0.01 for the SF.

In my personal opinion, it would be a total waste for any rogue to purchase SF. That's not to say for any other class it would not be worthwhile, but I think the SF is slightly overrated compared to the alternative.
Just think before you fork out 30g+ for SF when this is FREE!

shadowfang pwns. the best 19 twink item in this game. made a twink rogue sent it 100g started farming the @#$% out of SFK for the ASSASINS BLADE...after about 10 runs this droped. yeah sold it on an underpopulated server for 180g. sent money back to my main from my twink rogue...so now i have 750g at lvl 64 hunter. TEHPWN! i think so.

with how many mobs your pulling per run, your bound to get this item every 20-55 runs. dont sweat it. just be patient.

So basically I have a 19 twink rogue named Joltz in Guild Punishment on Alliance side for server Gilneas (GP FTW), and it took me 117 runs for his Shadowfang/Assassin's Blade combo. Now I am running it again to help with a friend's twink... I am currenty at 130 runs without either dropping. So overall I have run SFK over 245 times for these twink weapons and they have each only dropped once. If that is not bad luck then I dont know what is.

Friend of mine got this and was supposed to sell it to me for a 100g, and that's CHEAP for my server (Grim Batol EU). Then when he started a twink himself, he wanted to keep it and instead gave me 100G ^^
Now I'm farming several times a day and already on my first run I had 2 blue drops to sell, but no Shadowfang or Assassin's Blade.. But I hope it will be there soon :) I'm a 49 twinked rogue and have no problem with soloing this entire instance with no bandages or pots. So good luck all you farmers out there!

im gettin really tired of this. i was gonna make a 19 rogue twink and i wanted this or assassin's blade. Ok, first i ran this on my 60 mage over 30 times, neither drop. My 60 warrior friend ran this for me 20 times, didnt drop. And lstly my 60 rogue friend ran this about 50 times (was running for stuff to sell, but he would have given to me ne ways). AND ALL OF THESE WERE FULL CLEARS. And wats really sad, is not one BoE dropped out of all those runs, NOT ONE. i am so pissed off right now, i just went out and got got 2 CB's and was done with it. Whoever thinks this is an easy drop, its not, ur just extremely lucky.

A lot of people ask, which is better; Cruel Barb or Shadowfang.
Isn't it obvious?
Shadowfang has more DPS and a great proc. Shadowfang pwns Barb.
I would know too, I have a 19 gnome Rogue twink on Crushridge. Name is Stwinkie.
This thing procs so much! It's quite a good buy.
So if you can afford this for your twink, get it.. and don't touch the Barb.
Get Shadowfang and Sentinel's Blade I say. The 4 agi and 2 stam on Sentinel's Blade is way better than the stupid 16 AP on Barb.

i got this for my mage twink lol becuz of the mass amount of rogue twinks i got a good melee weapon ^^ i put +30 spell dmg , then i got one on a farming run for a Night Rever but i gave this to my warrior with a crusader but i didnt like it so i switch to Lifestealing, if u get ur hands on this sword u can sell it for a truck load of gold or for the most powerful 10-19 twink weapon.

Finally managed to get this for my 19 rogue after at least 30 runs. it dropped from Silverlaine, which i was exstatic about because i was about to skip him but decided against it. i carried on the run even after i got it and also got mindthrust bracers from a random later on in the instance which i managed to sell on AH for 20g.

yea right! this is way better than assassins blade. once i get enough money for my epic mount i'm gonna look for cheap prices for this on the AH. ill also start farming SFK for this and anything else thats worth good money. however, im not very patient :P, so if u happen to be on the Ally side of the Skullcrusher server, whisper me or mail me (if im currently not on). look for aardax or duskwolf. maybe we could work out a deal or a decent price. this will go great with cruel barb for my future rogue twink

i have had no luck finding the shadowfang sword and i have ran SFK at least 20times or more so it is definatly worth more then 7g try 40g.I go Shadowfang sword over cruel barb any day of the week.

I sold this for 150 gold on Twisting Nether not so long ago, come to think of it I put a +3 dmg enchant on it as well. It sold really quick as you might imagine.

If you want to buy this, prepare to pay more than 30 gold. I've only seen this once in the Iron Forge Auction House, and I got a lucky bid on it for 24 gold. I use it on my level 19 twinked Dwarf Paladin, along with a Redbeard Crest (shield). Every class I've fought so far has been a joke, including level 19 twinked Rogues and Warriors. I've learned that Paladins are arguably the best twink class for 10-19 Warsong Gulch if the player is skilled enough, and has good gear.

A very nice cheaper alternative to this amazing weapon is the Skeletal Club.

First of all, yes this sword has good DPS for its lvl but if you are a rogue planning on vaporizing everything your going about the twinking process ALL wrong due to this being a MAIN hand sword. A twinked rogue, especially for 10-19 WSG, should always have a dagger in main hand and the assassin's blade is the best weapon for a rogue to have. Even the CB is better than this due to the damage range and attack power bonuses. Plus the extra shadow damage does nothing for a rogue, and your missing out on ambush and backstab and you CANT not have ambush and backstab and expect to 1 Hit ppl. My suggestion would be to main hand an assassin's blade and off hand a CB.

I farmed this for the first time tonight for skins on my 43 hunter (considering my skinning is 270 and LW is 91 lol). I ran into a room and feeling lukcy about looting a chest and guess what. No Shadowfang. I kill the arugal next to the chest and guess what, SHADOWFANG! Sold withing 5 minutes for 150g. That leaves 114g in my pocket after getting my mount and training. All I can say is thank you Blizzard for being so kind to me tonight!

I don't appreciate your negativeness.
I must have been extremely lucky because I got this on my very first run through Shadowfang Keep. Then the run after that (I took a break and went out for a couple hours, came back and logged on) it dropped again. I rolled greed and so did my friend (who is a level 60 hunter) and I won! With a wopping 72, he rolled 51 and told me he to re-roll (/roll) and I said "no". :)
I repayed him in real life when I gave him $10. lol.

Well, thats probably luck for me. It dropped on Scilla, Alliance. :)

was running some friends through and was curious if the sons would drop it or not (wasn't expecting it, but i thought i'd snag it if, in the extreme off chance, it dropped)

lo and behold, the first of the three sons before the final boss i looted had dropped it.

this sword is worth all of the 200g twinks will pay for it, for 19th the sword is surpassed by none, things are only worth as much as people will pay for them, i sold one for 100g. and an assassins blade for 100g, they arent that hard to find, i dont get why people arent getting their own, oh well more money for me.

This is the best twink weapon for battle grounds. Particularly if you have a high level enchanter to put a powerful enchant on it. And it is a world drop, so it is rare and expensive on AH. But it is the best you can do if you want to rule in battle grounds. I would like to build a level 19 warrior with it and never level up. Just kill eternally in Warsong Gulch...

I have a dilemma, although it's a good one. I have 2 assassin's blades and a shadowfang. Do I go Shadowfang/assassin's blade or assasin's blade/assassin's blade. With Shadowfang I will lose ambush...etc but higher dps...any suggestions would be welcome

I can't seem to GIVE mine away on Ravenholdt. I keep putting it up for lower and lower prices at the AH and advertising it on trade channel but no one seems to want it. Price is down to 130 gold now. Considering that's like...a couple hours tops for a level 70 that knows what he is doing to grind gold in outlands, you'd think one of them would want to deck out their twink rogue..

Well, after a hard day of WTB'ing in trade, to no avail (despite my offer of 200g+, not quite as hefty as some of those other AH prices), I decided to hop on lil ole resto druid to farm (70 of course). I learned 3 things: 1, aoe tanking is crazy fun; 2, that i had some pretty decent feral gear and could aggro like half the instance to aoe tank it; and 3, that the most common drops have changed since ive been on this page a while back, used to be jolly Arugal with the lead...

anywho.... must..... farm!....... (O)_(O)

The stats are wrong on wowhead TBC. Correct stats are:

One-Hand (no longer main-hand like in vanilla)
29 - 55 Damage
+ 4 - 8 Damage
17.8 damage per second - Speed 2.70
Chance on hit: Sends a shadowy bolt at the enemy causing 30 Shadow damage.
