Elixir masters have a chance to create multiple flasks with the mats of just one (just like for elixirs).

giggledorf, the purpose of these potions are not something you would go and use when your grinding mobs for experiance or randon fights. A good alchemist in an instance run can turn what may be a losing boss fight in to one that is a cake walk. The boss fights are supposed to be epic battles, those who properly prepare for them using all the tools at their disposal will do much better.

No one expects you to use this potion on a regular basis, but you will probably find it in a good set for defeating a specific boss.

The new patch notes bear some good news for alchemists. Now the effects of flasks will continue on through death. So using a flask and dying 10 minutes later will no longer be a major loss.

For you alchemists out there - stop grumbling. Did you ever hear of the fact, that for special Dark Iron equipment, blacksmiths not only have to collect hundreds of BRD only DI Ore, smelt that ore at the forge in the 2nd half of BRD, but also have to use the Black Anvil, again in BRD. Though potions are of a one-use basis, whereas armour and weapons is not, it is still the same principle. I personally applaud the idea, it makes the potions more special, not just some everyday junk. I'd like to have the same 'need to make in instance' idea with all the proffessions.

These mats aren't ridiculous if you farm them yourself.

1.) 30 gromsblood is a joke, mannoroc coven in the desolace spawns 7-10 every 10 minutes, that's only 30-45 minutes of camping while you watch t.v.

2.) 10 eels are 45 minutes of fishing in the bay of storms.

3.) black lotus is difficult but you can buy them in the AH for about 8 gold on my server.

End product, this pot sells like crazy for 65 gold on my server. My guild makes these and gives them to the main tank. When you have over 100 people farming the mats every week it's not so unbelievable that a warrior could pop a couple in one night.

I have been selling these on Dethecus for 100g. They take awhile but they do sell. Planning on making a lot when the AQ gates open.

There's another Alchemy Lab in Blackwing Lair after Broodlord Lashlayer.

For the casual that is ofc even more out of reach than Scholo..however for a raidgroup that uses the flasks in BWL (and most do) this is an exceptional opportunity because your alchemists can come back to the cleared instance for about a week after killing Broodlord before the instance resets again.

I take 50g for flask and 12g to make, whisper me in-game or mail me, I do request as well!

My character name is "Bisterz", but be quick if you want some for a specific date, since I from time to time can have requests up to 5 flasks a week :)

no, it is immpossible to solo the scholomance one as a druid or rogue, there is a door that needs to be unlocked and there are a crowd of mob around it.

However, a hunter may have the chance of doing this is you have a very powerful pet. What you need to do is collect a key to the viewing room from a previous run. At the entrance bridge, kill the single skeleton guards, then have your pet jump down and distract the mobs long enough for you to open the door. run in, feint death, rez the pet. go into ras' room, again have the pet lure the mobs out and use the alchemy lab to make the potion.

Nerf hunters!

a paladin may also be able to do this if they can open locks and make potion when shielded. :P

I red this post about an Alchemist who was sad the potion dissapeared after one use, where other tradeskills make more 'durable' items...

Look at it like this, me as a weaponsmith cant exactly go off and sell 4 phantom blades to the same person now can I? where expandable items will keep a solid stream of demand, the market for durable items shrink with each sale :)

Got an Alchemist myself, deffo worth to make this potion imho...

Not only for raids, but if you stack up on the herbs for a little while, the effects in PvP can be gigantic :)
Its as much a raid item as a "You worked for it, so use it like you see fit" item :)

Sadly, this is more or less utterly useless now. With the new elixir rules, a combo of the Elixir of Mastery (+15 to every stat) and the Elixir of Major Fortitude (250 hp and 10health/5 seconds), you get the same hp, with an additional health regen and +15 agil, strength, and intellect (if you're into that sort of thing).

And that's not even using pricey flasks, those pots, on my server will run like 5-6g for one each, together.

But the Flask of Fortification is likely the direct replacement (500 hp and 10 def). It'll be up to you if you want to spend the extra money for 100 hp and 10 defense over +15 to stats and health regen.

For my tank that 10 defense won't really help much anyway, so I'll stick with the elixirs.

tut the good old days when a warrior could pop one of these at lvl 59 in WSG and stamina gear and be an unstopable flag carrier are old days. thought this alone is probably the only reason why it got nerfed, i personally hate PvP and thats why im protection, PvE forever!

In 1.7 patch, all flasks will stay on the player even after death.

The idea was that a flask was that ultimate 'buff' to your character profile, that cannot ever be removed even by death(save after the 2hr time limit). For those people who went to the effort to collect the mats, they were definitely worth it! +1200 health, +150 spell dam, +25 resistance, etc, were phenomenally beneficial. I personally think the changes are a nerf, especially when considered in respect to level 70 characters. Consider +1200 health on a lvl60 tank, this would easily boost their health by 10%. Consider +400 health on a lvl70 tank with raid buffs, this would be lucky to boost their health by 3% (400/18000 = <2%). Reducing the flasks from 30 gromsblood to 7 is a marginal improvement on the mats, black lotus is still the limiting factor in anyone making pre-BC flasks.

My conclusion, they should have left the flasks the way they were pre-BC.

Oh, and don't get me started on the whole 'guardian and battle' classification of non-stacking elixirs! The whole point was loading character up with pots that gave buffs to every relevant attribute topped off with a flask! - arh, the good old days....
