I picked up this Dagger for 50g over the Gut Ripper (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=2164) which was 100g. This doesn't do quite as much extra damage, and you need 6 extra levels to use it, but that's not really a problem if you're doing Battlegrounds, which is normally high-40s. Its also MH only...which I sort of didn't like. But I have it paired with the level 48 Scout's Blade (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=19543). Also got a +4 Weapon Damage on this, and a Fiery on the Scout's Blade. It looks decently nice and has the highest top-end of any non-quest Dagger in the 40-49 bracket.

I've heard the procrate is about 1 out of 10, so quite high - and about the proc itself.. The +fire dmg taken by the mob affects to following procs (it also stacks, what I've been told!) and affects to Fiery Weapon-enchant. So overall, very good to get - comparing to Gutripper, the difference is minimal

The proc is lower than 1/10 by a wide margin, and it does not affect fiery. If it stacks with itself I have not seen it yet.

According to shadowpanther.net this weapon is the second-best dagger for the 40-49 bracket, the better one being Gutripper. Our group had this drop from Verek (Warden Stilgiss' dog-add) in, heh, Blackrock Depths - as it is a static loot and only drops from there.

This dagger seems to have potential for rogues, and in some cases shamans (Flame Shock, Fire Totems - the fire damage boost is nice). Anyways, our druid got this by greeding and it seems that it is going for around 40-70g in Sylvanas EU. Seems like a nice solid choice basicly until Outlands if you don't do a lot of dungeons and manage to snag this from the AH with a cheap price.

And.. to add this.. I heard it stacks up to FOUR times, yes, 4, it might be a nice add in groups when you have a fire mage, warlock, shaman and such classes that may deal firedamage. A +40 Fire Damage-boost is awesome, if your main dps-class is a deep fire mage. GL getting this, might be worth it, and yeah a fiery weapon would mainly be the best choice for this, since the fire damage -bonus adds up to it (the +10 debuff it generates).

did ANYONE but me notice how this daggers speed, dps, and dmg are exactly the same as gutrippers? only the proc is different, idk why people pay 300-400g for a gutripper when they can have this for 40g-60g? some people are just retarted

So as of the 1.8 patch, which of these daggers actually does more dmg, specifically with bs, and ambush? And if you're lvl 46, would searing needle be a better value since it usually sells in the ah for less than widowmaker?

Usually that dagger sells for about 50-60 gold, but I got it for 35 when a guy was desperate to sell it. Lucky for me!

This dagger could be quite useful for a shaman if he used flametongue.

It might also stack with searing totem which is our most mana efficient damage already (except melee) and the flameshock dot.

It's perfect! With immolate, firestone, firey enchant and a machinegun imp, this will make a difference. If it adds fire dmg on all procs and fire spells, I'm a happy evil gnome :D

At level 49, I hope to be be weilding this Searing Needle in my mainhand, and the Shadowblade in my offhand. I have both weapons, and all the mats for 2x fierys. I've read a few previous posts and people have said that the fiery proc doesn't get boosed from the Searing Needle proc... that makes no sense! Has that been changed in 2.0? Or will it be changed later? If it is indeed the case that the fiery proc wont get boosted ever, what weps should I use at 49? As I said, I already have this and the Shadowblade. They both seem nice... What am I do to do!

this is a great ambush dag. and when paired up with Shadowblade is insane dps. i highly recomend getting this as a main hand for rogue.

If you're wielding this in your main hand and have Helm of Fire (preferred helm for Rogues at 49) on your head, use the Helm of Fire proc right after your Searing Needle procs. Also, if you are selling this dagger on Proudmoore, message Crittar, thanks.

The dps is fine, proc sucks but who cares? So does the shankers proc... If you're lvl 46 and dont have a widowmaker buy this one instead, realy great dagger.

Just got this dagger and put a +4 weapon damage enhant cant w8 to use it at lvl 46 :D i think its much better than widowmaker who cares about the proc its got more dps

Best main hand dagger for lvl 46. Not even the epic Shadowblade is as good in main hand as this one, and Searing Needle has the same damage as Gut ripper.

If u compare the prices, this is rly rly rly the best buy option. My twink has it ^^

This proc goes great with Helm of Fire, and with the enchant you get from the quest inBadlands(Alliance only I think)

I've seen this baby proc 3 times in a row and all in all 1 proc every ~10 hits. The 30 sek debuff doesnt work for the proc itself but thats not a point.

There is a crit chance of nearly 1% pushing it to 90 dmg -> 61-62 avg dmg.

Dps doesnt matter because this is a mainhand dagger which needs slow speed(best speedincrease by skilluse) and a high hitdmg(slow speed -> high hitdmg + higher hitdmgincrease per ap!)

Because of this the dagger can be used +10 lvls of req.

I have this dagger in my main hand, and a bonescraper in my off, both have firey encahnts and lemme tell you, that proc does not suck... my firey encahnts proc 50% of the time and the increased fire damage only makes the firey do an additional +10

so fiqure this out, firey 40dmg +10dmg +poison 110dmg +dmg average 61 = 221 per hit

221 dmg per hit... sinister strike around 300ish now depending on spec/gear you can hit for around 200-400 crit on melee as a rogue, it doesnt get much better

Has anyone actually tested the proc?

I tried it on my lv 50 shaman and the damage increase didn't work with Searing Totem, Flame Shock or Flametongue Weapon.

I got 27 "Searing Blasts" from 1,028 basic auto-attacks. Roughly translates to a 3% chance-on-hit (or 1 PPM), with 1 crit that probably translates to a built-in 5% crit chance, which dealt exactly 1.5x of base damage. The resulting added average dps is +1, which can increase if you're using any "extra attack" abilities like Windfury or Sinister Strike. I also tested with 100 +Spell Damage equipped, and there was no change in the amount of damage dealt. As a Priest, I can't test much, but the debuff should act the same as +10 Fire Damage from gear and so should only affect Fire abilities that have a scaling coefficient. At least, that's how other +Damage debuffs work, such as the Paladin's Judgment of the Crusader.

I can confirm that Searing Needle's proc does not affect the damage of itself nor the damage of the Fiery enchant. After debuffing the target, the damage stays at 60 and 40, respectively.
