This is a great pre-raid tanking trinket. A must for all tanks!

It has a great +def and the proc is very handy. Unfortunately the drop rate is around 7% so you may need quite a few runs of BRD to get it.

An excellent trinket for tanks, and actually not as hard to get as you would think. If you're doing any sort of non-jailbreak run into BRD you will most likely pass by Angerforge's area.

This trinket will stay equipped on most tanks until they're into BWL/AQ40. If you're prot specced, you want this.

This trinket cannot reduce final damage taken by more then 50% of the initial amount. (untested in combination with other sources of absorption)

This trinket reduces the amount of damage taken before armor is taken into account.

If you have 50% damage reduced by armor, and are receiving 20 damage (base 40 before armor), this trinket will reduce the base damage to 15, which your armor will further reduce to ~7 damage. But due to the fact that this trinket cannot reduce final damage taken by more then 50%, you will still take 10 damage.

In this manner, it is less powerful then it would initially seem for a high level tank doing massive low level pulls.

Maybe you guys justd don't know how much +def worth

I mean, I'm a prot Warrior specialized in supporting so I don't really need any kind of trinked that do damage/crit or something sinilar

I've not very good armor pieces in my equip right now (still using some part of the imperial set : ( )

but

I've looked around for item with +def, result:
I've 357 def right now and boss from scholo, strath and brs doesn't hit me anymore with crits and special attack hit me very occasionally.

I want to reach almost 400+ def because I want boss from molten core too to not do me crits and spec attack anymore

so I give this trinket a 10/10 vote

P.S: of course this is a TANK item, any rogue that used it instead of something that gave him +1 or 2% crit would be a real idiot

I play a rogue and while this looks good at first, its not. For the proc to work you have to assume you'll be getting hit alot. With a rogue's leather armor that is not good combination! Same thing with Mark of the Chosen, they look good on paper but should really only used by plate wearers who get pounded on constantly. Also a rogue does not have block, so part of that defense boost is going to waste.......warrior's item first.

after this pach the def skill on itmes will be lowerd like 33%..that suck!i have 401 def skill...and still i need the shield from UBRS...and a sett of def skill shoulders...and i think the def skill is powing all meele guys already...i love 2 see the miss/parry/dodge/block

The -25 damage done adds up. And the +10 defense is awesome. This is 1 of 2 trinkets IN THE GAME that have +defense, so I'd say it's necessary for a tank.

I'm a rogue.. I used to be all "omgz0rz i kan tank :B" when I was leveling because I soloed more often than not.. but after you reach 60, theres really no need for that at all. To any rogue who rolls.. seriously.. learn your place in the game. You're more valuable dpsing and letting the tank hold agro. You wear leather armor for a reason and if you tank, you're just a waste of mana for the priest. I almost never take healing in raids, not because I don't pull agro because I do sometimes when I crit high enough.. but because the priest focuses on the -tank-. Go out and try to tank Azuregos with a raid and see if they even let you think about it if you think you can tank.

Great warrior.. possibly bear form trinket. I'd pass for a feral druid or warrior any day.

This is a good trinket. Don't understand why?

If you are tanking 3 mobs - let's say they all hit you once every 2 seconds - you could be hit 15 times in 10 seconds.

Regardless of how much they hit you for, that's 375 health you did not lose during the fight.

Let's say you're tanking 10 trash mobs in an AoE style fight (dead strat, beginning, or the bugs in DM north). Let's assume it procs. I like to build aggro for a short bit before they drop aggro, which I do with whirlwind etc. The bugs/skeletons could hit as many times as 5 times in 10 seconds. That's 1250 dmg if it procced and you held aggro for 10 seconds.

It's not great for PvP - grab the Defiler's talsiman or something if you want to mitigate damage on demand.

I know you're all going to smack me around but if there's no warrior in the party I would give this to the shaman... Not the heal-bot shaman, the elem/enhance. I love my Enhancement shaman and have been realizing that because I can out damage most of my party I have need TONS of dodge/parry/etc, etc, etc.. I usually drop totems and protect the healers at the start of a fight and then when the boss is about half done I step in with with windfury and he drops quick! Problem is, when you get adds in a small party, I usually haveta take the aggro off the healers so I need that defense junk...

Finally I have it. very nice. Now an easily farmable trinket for tanks.

edit - i got this trinket just a few hours ago. a VERY nice warrior let me, a feral druid, take the need roll.

Im not allowed to say who though, cause he said it would wreck his reputation as a Warrior.

Yes, it dropped off of Angerforge for me as well. Originally I was farming it with two of my buddies. Just after successfully finishing our strat UD 45 run, my whole guild went to BRD, dropped the first time we were in there!

However, I've been using it all weekend and haven't seen it proc once. Anyone else having the same problem? What does the proc look/sound like?

Can any hunter please give me a decent explanation as to why you would roll need on this tanking trinket?

Maybe thats asking too much....guess your need to vendor for a couple of gold,far outweighs that noob warrior/druid who thinks this trinket would be a worthwhile addition to his/her tanking equipment.

Got this thing first run through BRD off of Angerforge, check here to see that that's very rare, I'm so happy..

Why would anyone want to take this from a warrior? It helps the whole group if they tank well, so unless there is no warrior there, why not just let them have it? No class tanks as well, I don't care what people say, because no other class is meant to do it like a warrior is. Its the only thing we're *best* at, let us do it.

Personally, I ran this with a bunch of guildies who were more than happy to give me this, including a rogue and a shaman. Priest and mage weren't ninjas, either. :)

Does anyone know what sort of drop rate this has on General Angerforge, since it now drops off him instead of Emp? I've done Angerforge 3 times in the past 2 days (guild Ony attunement runs) and I never even knew this existed. As a prot warrior, I could really use this.....

Oooookay. Any class without a RAGE bar under their name should not be rolling on this. Also, if one is not at least a feral druid (READ: have feral charge) - should also not be allowed to roll.

While I dearly covet this item, if there was a warrior in my group and he did a wonderful job tanking (again, read: I did not have to do craploads of offtanking to keep them off of the other members), I'd give it to him. If he did a crappy job... well, hey, I have LotP and tank often enough that I would benefit greatly from this and would roll.

Oh, and I dunno what any groups would be doing without a tank (person with a rage bar), but if they don't have one, defers first to paladins. <3

Resto Druid here... Was with a Shammy, 2 mages and a priest. They were going to de it because we were not using a tank and I just couldnt handle that. I hadn't gotten anything so I asked if I could need it. They said yes. I am debating if I want to go back to feral now. I got this and Hand of Justice. I hate having to be resto. I enjoy PvP but want to run end game instances with my guild also. So goes life.

For a warrior or druid tank. If they are tanking right a paladin/rogue won't be hit at all. Stop ninja-ing our gear xD

8 runs of BRD and finally the damn thing drops (I'd actually resorted to doing Pug's for the damn thing). I got outrolled by a 56 hunter -.- over me, a lvl 60 46 points in protection warrior.

His reason? "It's useful when Hunters are doing melee damage and it's useful for any class really."

Needless to say, I left the group immediately ;)

aside from a warrior the only class that should need roll this is maybe a feral druid. for some reason i see hunters with this the most....

out of spite no hunter weapon will ever be safe you $%^&*!@s. l2 play your classes, hunters are the worst at collecting the right gear.

I play on he Echo Isles server, which, from my experience, has a very high concentration of bad players around the 40-60 level range. Today, on my prot tank, I was running BRD with a group consisting of me, 2 mages, a fury warrior, and a priest. This dropped, and I asked the group if I could need it, and they said yes. Then, one of the mages just says "Im needing it too" and wins the roll. Anyone able to explain to me why a mage would need this. He said that it would save him from dying alot, and argued that anyone can roll need on anything that they may use. *grumble grumble* Tis was my 10th or so run, and the only time I had seen it drop. For future reference, the person was soulus, in case anyone was wishing to watch out for that ninja looter

Yeh i just had a hunter ninja this trinket off me when i was the tank. Never group with Hordkill on Anarchronos server.

To be quite honest, anything with defense for a warrior, especially say a Main Tank in Molten Core is a welcomed thing. If it's only taking up a trinket space that would've been blackhands breadth anyway, I can't for the life me see why any tank wouldn't jump on this. At the moment I have 432 defense but, I'm always looking for more.

After hunting around this site I've worked out I could have upto 490 defense, without having to venture into BWL. It's the little things like these you collect that helps. It all adds up guys, even if you hate the long long run of BRD to get it, in my honest opinion as a main tank or even an offtank you should make the effort.

Remember more defense make your healers life easier which makes the rest of the raids life easier, hence making faster MC runs and more epic loot for all ^^

So it says Emp and Anger drop this, but ive only ever heard of emp droppin. If anger is now dropping that will save a ton of farming hours for this. Is it true Anger drops this?

Done lots of runs to BRD on which we have always killed The General and Golem Lord Argelmch and either has yet to drop the tanking stuff. I mean this trinket and the Naglering from the Golem Lord.

Even if the % aint very high still seems a bit strange they havent dropped either yet.

First run through BRD tody and it dropped off Gen Anger. 3 War in party so the need rolls began. :) One was VERY happy.

I was farming this for my tanking gear... and we found out a pretty good group for entire emperor run which in 35minutes...

the group was:

2x Warriors

1x Priest

1x Rogue

1x Mage

well i got Zin'rokh and my other warrior friend has Spinal reaper... maybe thats why we did it so fast... but the group works fine... tanked 2 handed all the way through...

Got that from Angerforge tonite, so it seems that HoJ and FoW changed the droplocation, kinda disappointing tho, since the droprate from HoJ is utter @#$% and it was a pain to get before, now its even worse. (not to mention that we didnt even get one proper loot beside Force of WIll :/)

Helped our warrior friend farm this from General Angerforge. Think we did close to 10 runs in 2 days, when it finally dropped, it was sheer happiness ^_^

What dropped the most is the Angerforge's Battle Axe and Royal Decorated Armor, tink at the end of the whole run, 3 axes and 3 chest armors dropped. Plus of course the Force of Will =)

our warrior got this (HE NINJAEDFOMG) after our 40 min run with no wipes or deaths whatsoever. requires: a shadowforge key, a 60 warrior, a 60 warlock, a 60 hunter (with a 59 bear) and a 55 mage. we owned everything in our way good.

Well since i wanted this and i knew some BRD strats pretty well i got it in one day after doing about 7 1/2 hour emp runs.

The way it works is you comprise a group of:
Warrior
Paladin
Warlock (Can be mage if there is a hunter in group)
Priest
*Meelee DPS Class*

The way this works is

1. Enter the instance, unlock the left gate, go forwards and right and unlock that gate, then go to the locked door and unlock that. You should see that big lock thing to unlock the locked doors in the instance.

2. wait for the fire ellemental pat to come down the stairs and kill it.

3. walk to the top of the stairs.
*Now on your left there is a corridoor and then at the end of the coridoor there is a window with a ledge outside it.

4. The whole group now runs to the end of the left coridoor and jumps out the window. Various strats exist like warriors fearing, mages frost nova + blink, Hunters doin their aoe slowdown thing. If the line of sight isnt broken jump down to the platform below

5.There will be a pat of about 5 dwarves running around, if you stay close to the edge you wont aggro them.

6. Head towards incendius as you normally would, with 58+'s if you walk straight dead on in the center of the walkway you wont aggro the two ellementals on each side except for the last two before incendius.

7. Kill the last two ellementals then incendius. now on your left side ( left from the direction you came) jump down and move over to the wall where there is a large visible ledge.

8. hug the wall and keep on going up towards the MC entry place untill you reach a large incline in the rock and meet a wall.

9. Before you can lavawalk first you must target the mob under the lava and kill it.

10. now there is a island which you can use if you are 58-60 and careful. If you are not nightelf there is a very small ledge along the wall allmost opposite the small island with the 3 ellementals.

11. have the priest shield the people and cast regen heals while they make their way, the pally once over the other side heals the priest as it comes over.

12. You then lavawalk again a small distance to the ground under the bridge to MC entry. There are 3 fire ellementals that you must kill to move on.

From there on the rest is exactly the same as normal BRD runs. When the whole group knows how to do this strat well it takes on average 1/2 hour from entry to kill incendius and the emporer.

One trick is once killing Emp, to be teleported to the start of the instance type /camp and let it log you out, log back in and you will be there. When you go to character screen you will have auto left the group so the person who is last will have to form a party and set the other person as leader and then /camp

I thought i would share this because whenever i ran emp farmin sessions people really liked it

This trinket is good. IF you look at the procs, reducing 25 melee dmg by 25 for 10sec along with +10 def is worth it. Look carefully, both procs are passive. Especially with +10 def enemy's will miss alot.

This dropped off the General on my first run in BRD, won the need roll.

In subsequent runs got the Lord General's sword, Carapace of Anub (winning another need roll), and a blue shield as well from here.
