A raid roll is where an item e.g a bag or orb is usefull to every player in the raid. Only the raid leader rolls /roll 1-25 Whatever he rolls that is who gets the item. Your number is where you are in the raid window on the raid leaders screen.

Just want to throw my two cents in here. It truly is 1-25
ON THE RAID LEADERS SCREEN
. If you have raid frames up, your listing may differ from his. This is why I prefer just straight rolls, although for 25 people, some will complain that it is a pain to scroll through them to find the winner.

I've been in PuGs where someone rolls multiple times for Bag/Gems/Mount and the Loot Master accidentally loots it to that person.
Loot Master is not fun, and don't knock it until you try it. People who roll just for fun or as a joke; it's not funny. That's why a /1-25 is used for common use items.

ML simply said who roll more than once per item their roll is counted as the lowest roll
Hes more generous than I would have been. If I catch someone trying to sneak in extra rolls they are totally exempt from that item and likely will get a raidkick as well.

Been loot master for my last guild and managed DKP site, so I know all the crap associated with it. Get the addon called Rolltracker and all you troubles are solved. (I would link it, but Curse.com is having issues)

Rolltracker Lite
is great for tracking rolls (as its name suggests ;p). I use it and I never use raidroll, because 1) people don't quite get how it works, which 2) makes them feel treated unfair and start flaming about. Mass rolling is possible with this addon and it also tracks people rolling multiple times or using a different range (the famous /roll 100 100).
There is one thing that helps you see if your raid leader is using a raidroll fair: every player is always listed last in his group. In case of the raid leader, most often being in group 1, means he's 5th on his screen. If he rolls 1-4 but given the item to himself, he's a ninja.

I just do a Recount on healing received, that way everyone is on it (unlike healers missing from damage done).
How does that do anything? Won't the tank win everything?

No. You use it as the list that you choose to assign everyone in the raid a number.

he is using the recount list to place a number on all, with healing received.
then he raid rolls and you compare that number to the person in list.
Seems really clever to be honest, will use that myself if i do a 25 man raid there raid roll can be used.
Anyone know how to get healing showed in recount, not so used to it?

Seems rather broken to me. That needs to be looks at and improved so its pleasant and intuitive. Its not like its impossible, or even hard, Blizzard is just lazy and busy putting bad stats on set gear that all look like cloth.
What year is it?

After reading this thread, I went to PUG Ony25 and the leader actualy used this for the bag, satchel (the gem bag) and her head.
He used something that gave numbers to our nicks, wrote them 3-4 per chat line (so they were all visible) and then just rolled (and ignored those ppl who thought theres gonna be normal roll - they were plenty of them:)).
Worked just fine.
(There could have been a problem with the head but the winner, me actualy, was eligible for it.)

I use Broker Group (LDB addon, among other things, it tracks rolls) and just have the raid roll for the items. The addon only takes the first roll someone makes and it only takes /roll, it won't take any rolls that aren't 1-100.
