Is there a "best" raid frost spec?

I'm unholy and want to duel spec frost to see how I like it. I just wanted some Ideas. I know there are some floating around but is there one that is tried and true, like the survival hunter raid spec? Thanks for any input.

The second spec is better for fights where $%^& usually hits the fan, as it allows for more flexible usage of Death Runes.

The first spec gives HB and IT more viability.

Rotation is most likely using HB glyph (applies Frost Fever to Target)

HB>OB>BS>BS>FS (when runic power allows)
OB>OB>OB>FS (when runic power allows)

they insist on it because HB and oblit are both better dps than two crappy bloodstrikes.

True, but you're thinking of Blood of the North, not DRM.

I think the point of DRM was more IT spamming off the UH runes for more RP for more FS? Provided you had the right sigil and glyphs, of course. I'm not sure though.

No, it increases the Area of Effect of HB because it is an Area of Effect spell. It doesn't increase the AoE of IT because IT is not an AoE spell.

Sigh, Quit the arguing. Deathchill is a great talent, and if macro'd into your HB or FS can make for fun times. Use it all the time it's a guaranteed crit, which is better than a toss up crit, that's called an increase in dps. Icy Reach isn't worth the extra points unless you are fighting bad guys 15 yards away which would then mean your tank isnt' doing his job.

If HB was like Unholy Blight where it was a circular effect with its radius extending from the player then yes, changing the range would mean increasing the radius of the spell.

HB is a ranged attack. Nowhere in the description of Icy Reach say that it increases the radius of HB's aoe. Untalented range on HB is 20 yards. Talented range is 30 yards. This means you can hit your target from 20 and 30 yards respectively.

The aoe effect does damage to all other targets within a 10 yard radius or your target. This remains the same whether Icy Reach is talented or not. The tooltip on the spell changes to reflect the range between specs, but does not change the radius of the spell.

I did a quick and easy test since my "dps" off spec (which is sorta pvp to allow me to kite zombie chow better and other similar utilities) has icy reach but my tank spec does not. Went to Acherus, went into the training dummy ring and then selected the Veteran Training Dummy closest to Ebon Knight's Training Dummy. In tank spec I could only hit the Veteran Training dummy on the left of my target. In my dps spec I could still only hit that same dummy, no extra ones.

If Icy Reach effected the radius of HB's aoe effect as well, that would increase it from the 10 yards to 20 yards (10 yard increase on range). That would have put the far left Veteran Training Dummy and the closest Ebon Knight's Training Dummy into range of the HB aoe effect.

Case solved.
