Funny you brought up the biologist, I was just reading about
this
and
this
in Lewontin. Seems increasingly that biologists can be divided into pro and anti Malthusian lines to determine whether they advocate eugenics, Social Darwinism and Capitalism.
That said I haven't read either text fully, so I should probably reserve judgement.
Omg, this is so weird. I was just saying in vent how Darwin was a Nazi.

The Bible is my favorite book, then Rand's Fountainhead, followed by King's The Stand. Although I love the ideologies of Rand, I prefer the study of human nature more than political or economic discourse.

I don't get it, are you saying the Bible is a study of human nature?

I wouldn't go that far. Marx wrote to Darwin saying he admired his book since it was based on materialist precepts, but Darwin couldn't read German and he drew inspiration from Malthus. I think Darwin also had a copy of Mendel...
Hitler himself referred to the Bible in Mein Kampf from what I've heard (do not throw pearls before swine) and was influenced by Gobineau. Other Nazi officials took a more explicitly Social Darwinist or Nietzchean view... Then again,
Churchill advocated eugenics
, as did
Ayn Rand
.

I don't like Harry Patridge. His animations are amusing at times but often have a subtext of misogyny. Wasn't surprised to see on his channel that he made contributions to FHM.
FSM on the other hand...
Edit: Oh yeah, Darwin did add the phrase "survival of the fittest" to the fifth edition of "On the Origin of Species" due to the recommendations of Herbert Spencer (another guy Marx critiqued).

I meant it more toward Rand's book. I like the political and economic discourse of it, but I prefer the human side of her books, particularly the Fountainhead. If she had written Marxist stuff about the success of some liberal who went AGAINST the crowd, then I'd probably still like it. Unfortunately, I don't really think I could find that believable, since liberalism is really a populist movement and not an individual's movement (the vast majority of instances that is).
But, I digress. Yes, The Bible is a study of human nature. It begins with Adam and Eve, handed paradise on a platter, and instead they messed it up. Then it goes on to the first recorded death, a murder between two brothers. Then it moves on to the plight of a family, then the plight of the nation that comes from that family. It presents case studies of human nature, and the consequences of the actions it spawns. It filters down to the crucifixion of God. If that isn't a violent human reaction based in egotistical selfishness I don't know what is. It finishes up with humanity trying to grasp an ethereal gift like spiritual salvation in the face of government and popular adversity, utilizing nothing but faith and hope. I know many of you all probably just see a list of "thou shalt not"s, but that just comes from your liberal sensibilities telling you that you don't like being told what to do (not you Saggy, just society in general).
