Wowhead Weekly Review (3/6 - 3/16)

Hey! The new Wowhead Weekly Review now is back- with a new team. Haven't heard about it for some looong time, have you? That's sad! But hey, we'll be continuing that work -- collecting news, reporting interesting threads and summarizing stuff, so you know what was „the talk“ over the passing week! We'll start in chronological order.

News:

Blog "Comic Honorable Mention - Avedral" by ArgentSun. Representing the Wowhead community, he congratulates Avedral, one of our Wowhead users, for an Honorable Mention in Blizzard's Fan-Art Comic Contest! Congrats, too! But there's bad news for those who love Noxychu's Wowhead weekend-comic...
Blog "What A Long, Strange Trip It's Going To Be" by Malgayne. He reports that the Brew of the Year achievement requirement apparently has been removed from the criteria list for the meta-achievement Brewmaster with the latest patch build. It's no longer needed so players don't have to do the effort of getting every month a new one, and in case of missing it, they don't have to wait for next year. This eases things a lot, doesn't it? You can get the „Violet Proto-Drake“ as a reward for „What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been“, which Brewmaster is a criteria of, with less difficulties once this change goes live! But Malgayne also wonders if Blizzard only conceded this because of angry customers who also complained about the „Be Mine!“ achievement... What do you think? Head over to the blog to comment!
Blog "Mommy, Where Does QQ Come From?" by Malgayne. After a conversation with an user from Wowhead, Malgayne wonders where "QQ" originates and what it's caused by. He assumes that very little complaints or dissatisfaction can lead up to real "QQ". Go see if you agree and please leave a comment!
Blog "Turtlenecks Are In This Year" by Malgayne. He reports that MMO-Champion has the new models and pics and even a full video showing the T8 gear for all classes and race/gender combinations. Go check it out and share your opinions about the new looks.
Blogs "New Icons in Patch 3.1 (Build 9658)" and "New & Changed Icons in Patch 3.1 (Build 9684)" by our Wowhead Overlord Skosiris. Pretty self-explanatory: you get to see some new icons that have been implemented with the two new patch builds on the PTR. See the blogs for an overview!
Thread "Here you go, tanks. :)" by Tatortotts. He points out that according to MMO-Champion there will be a new weapon enchant for tanks. Users are still discussing whether the enchant is a new „must-have“ or not because of the downsides for Parry against diminishing returns. Some are pessimistic and don't think that this enchant could persist on the live servers. It may also be unfair for druid tanks if they can't use it. According to a forum link by one of the users, Blizzard seems to be thinking about druids, though. Go there to post your thoughts!

Blog "Wowhead Comic #14" by Noxychu. Today she sadly had not enough time so Noxy couldn't draw a proper comic ='(. But hey, wallpapers were added!
Thread "We Need a new Healer Class!" by mipyim. Having experienced the outcry for healers due to the massive population of tanks and DPS, mipyim felt the need to post a few examples for Hero Classes in the next, which is yet still unconfirmed, but widely believed to be the Maelstrom. He calls out other users to discuss about other possible healer classes. Share your ideas!
Thread "Healing complaints?" by ArgentSun. Just like the same topic, healers, but instead of new classes, he wants to compare the disadvantages of the different healer classes (druid, paladin, priest and shaman). The one's good for single-target healing, the other for area of effect healing, but really-- what difficulties do they have?
Thread "The good & bad about the duel speccing (so far)“ by Judistpriest. He reasons why the implementation of "Duel" Specialisations was needed and also argues why the fee for activating it should be replaced by something else, perhaps epic quests.
Thread "At what point does world PvP become reportable griefing?" by Arabesque. He asks other users for their opinions about griefing and ganking (on PvP servers). Apparently there are a lot of answers and different opinions. If you like theorizing on morals and ethics, share your thoughts!

Theorycrafting:

Thread "Hit Rating for All Classes *Talented Hit*" by rascal84. An informative and hopefully very useful hit summary for raiders (most classes covered). Help him by posting more tips and corrections or more information.

Lore & Fan-Fiction:

Blog "WoW Haiku!" by SBMrClean. Obviously he's bored. Some sort of Haikus related to WoW. And he's looking for one to be added to his list. Invent one if you haven't already, and post it! The winner who posted the best haiku may get a lil' reward.
Blog "Dark Riders, Tree Branches, & Evil Dudes--Oh, My!" by Arideni. He continues his first blog, "Worgen - E.D. With Attitude" about the origins of the Worgen, wolf-like creatures that resemble humans, by panning the view from the Worgen in Kalimdor to the much larger incidences of Lupi in Eastern Kingdoms, near Darkshire, Duskwood. And apparently there is some strange folk that perhaps have a relation to the Worgen. Check it out, won't you?

Lore & Fan-Fiction:

Threads "The Web of Life (parts 4&5)" and "The Web of Life (part 6)" by Spidermonkey. Continuing from the previous one, "The Web of Life (part 3)", Spidermonkey posted this time two installments due to his short hiatus (he's staying with a good friend in California). Don't panic, he should be back soon enough. He also drops a piece of information concerning the second story he's working on. Enjoy and please comment! Authors are proud of their work and appreciate constructive criticism.
Yessss! Threads "Light and Death (Page 5)" and "Light and Death (Page 6)" by MorecofRivendare 20 hours after Web of Life by Spidermonkey (scroll up). Finally released after I nearly died on Friday. Go check it out if you like stories! And guys, COMMENT!
Thread " Who is the Lich King." by Syphris. He, after having been to Naxxramas and fighting Kel'thuzad, wonders what the Lich King is consisting of. Syphris also wonders what happened to the different egos of Ner'zhul and Arthas after they merged. In the latter part of the thread, two theories become evident: either Ner'zhul and Arthas were fused to a completely new being, with their knowledge but without personality (Arthas and Ner'zhul being completely destroyed) or both fused by sharing their bodies and powers and they still might have personalities.
Thread " Why are we fighting the titans who are not allied with the lich king?" by pudge05. He asks why we rather fight them than allying with. Also, a nice summary by ArgentSun.
Thread "Project Lore Episode 16 – Gundrak" by Mystadio. New Project Lore Episode 16 is out! Watch it by following the link. Parts will follow later.
Thread "Deathwing, Twilight Dragonflight and the Old Gods" by Gnubigena. He has written a large text about the possible connection between those three mentioned in the title. Very cool and informative thoughts. Check it out if you are a real lore nerd!

Off-Topic:

Thread "Cool little internet games." by famously random/ randomly famous Queggy! He has apparently got into small internet games because he's bored. Bored! One of his favorites is Winter Bells, a cool bunny game. He asks other to post their own favorite game. Be sure to comment them and post your own!
Thread "Math/physics problems." by ASHelmy. Apparently a forum math game, that yet has to go smoothly because nobody seemingly wants to join. What a pity! Time to show off some knowledge of yours! Do it! Just NOW! Oh well if you don't want to, but yet are a bit clever and like intelligent discussions, either go to the Theorycrafting board or to this thread about time, "What Is Time? (Physics Continued)" by MyTie! ASHelmy also offers solving those problems by himself, cool man!
Thread "A Question for All of you Climate People" by Queggy. This time an intelligent discussion. I'm surprised! He asks whether Climate Change is to be worried about or not. On one hand, according to Queggy, Climate Change always has been (for thousands of years), on the other hand, some people reason that this time the change might be artificially accelerated. Interesting! Head over and argue whether it might be dangerous belittling the change or not! – The topic has changed- to something I can't summarize. Randomness has deceived me.
Awesome! Thread "Story Time with Uncle Queggy" by Queggy. Seriously, I never knew Queggy was useful. Originally written for a contest, he posted it to the Randomness forums: a story about the invasion of Earth. (Srsly, is the boy crazy?)

Sorry for the delay, I had to do other important things. It ought to be posted on weekends and the next W-R certainly will appear in the following weekend. Stay tuned!
