don't use gamecards, it's cheaper with credit cards... I mean the risks are almost non-existant anyways...

If you sell an empty box to a customer, you should probably make sure he gets what he pays for if he comes back and complains.
It doesn't work this way. The reason is it would be very easy to simply purchase a gamecard box, take the card out, then try to return or exchange it, thus ripping off the store. The manager was right about contacting Blizzard - they're the only ones that can fix the problem correctly without ripping anyone off. Blizzard would simply ask for your account name and the serial number (or other identifying number) from the gamecard. If the card's been used on an account other than yours, then they know it's been stolen and credit you the gametime.
Sorry to say but you effectively stole that gamecard from Walmart. What you should have done was contact Blizzard. It's a pain in the butt, but then that's gamecards for you.

next time, do what I do when I buy electronic/TCG stuff
open it in front of the cashier after you've paid for it, if you find anything unorderly, just tell them it's not up to standards or something
