Unable to use character name right after deleting?

I just deleted my baby priest to change the way she looked - wanted to name her the same thing. And having done this before, on multiple characters, I could always use the name right away after I deleted the original character.
However, today when I did it, it said the character name was unavailable. Have they done something in the patch to make you unable to do so, or did someone, in the split second it took me to make that char, take the name?

I've done that many times too, and I've never had any problems... heck, I even did it yesterday. As simple as this question is, are you sure you spelled it right? That's the only thing that I can think of that may have messed it up...
